I just found out that this remarkable woman has left our Earth. I always try to honor Spiritual servants when they check out, and truly may many more rise to further the work she began. Sister Emmanuelle, 99 year old French nun of Cairo, spent decades working with the poorest of the dump scavengers and helped create a multi-nation network of clinics, schools and gardens to serve the children of the slums.
Born Madeleine Cinquin in Brussels on Nov. 16, 1908, she gave schools, health care strategies, and income producing projects to the poor in Egypt and seven other countries, including Brazil, Burkina Faso, Haiti, India, the Philippines, Senegal and Sudan. Her work has been compared with Mother Theresa and Abbe Pierre, two other great 20th century Souls who helped lessen the suffering of the poor. Aum and blessings on a great life of spiritual service.

Sister Emanuelle may have left our planet, but she remains in all the people she's touched with her kindred spirit and amazing heart. So it is-- we never truly leave, do we :)?
May her many works continue to spread...
