One of my primary concerns as a man of conscience and blogger has been to spotlight the stench of slavery wherever it is happening, that we may all affirm and do whatever moves us to end this abominable virus upon humanity. I've spent years focusing on the child slaves of the African chocolate meatgrinder feeding America cheap chocolate on the backs of starving children. Today I found a very valuable article sketching a larger global picture of slavery that offers a broader view of the larger issue.
This seems a perfect time for this piece given the larger trends already set into motion on a meta-level. If we are supposed to learn "to love our neighbors as ourselves" then perhaps our persistent focus on that which afflicts our sisters, brothers, and children of the world might eventually yield a lessening of the suffering.
That's why some of my articles help us "remember" some things. This "concentration of consciousness" used to be called "Witnessing." Historically, "witnessing" was, is, and continues to be is an important function in the collective consciousness remembering its Divine Estate. While direct action is always good, ANY action is also good. Different people of conscience have different skills.
Ultimately, the purpose of being here is the extinguishing of ALL the sources of destructive human relationships through us consciously imagining and living a better way. Our challenge is not to turn away from witnessing what could be in the face of what has been.
If Divine Freedom is the true estate of the human being, then slavery is truly a horrible illusion. It's time for all forms of slavery to end, and the Oneness of All Our Relations, the group of Souls that we ALL are together, to reclaim our collective freedom on our Path of Return. The Kali Yuga is over.

Robert -- Thank you so much for posting this article and presenting your impassioned plea for the end of slavery worldwide. It made my Christmas to be reminded of those who are still suffering this unique form of abjection in our midst, indeed who are one with us and part of us, lest we forget we are all a collective, evolving into the great noetic mind. It reminds me of why Jesus is called The Redeemer and how far we have to go before we are worthy of the level of luminous adeptitude he shared with us and urged us to emulate. I plan to share this article with my classes in the spring, because I truly think that most people in our society are not aware about the breadth and depth of slavery on Planet Earth at this critical moment. While some might argue that there are karmic issues involved, there is no excuse for not taking compassionate action for justice, peace, and healing when we can. You are much appreciated.

Hi Layli - Glad to be able to remind all of those who suffer far more than most of us will ever know. There are other slaves as well on every continent, and I kept the issue in the spotlight for years back when I was doing my group political blog. May Spirit and humanity bring an end to this abomination as soon as possible. Slavery has no place in humanity's ultimate spiritual estate.
