Any New Moon kicks off a 4 week period of activity lasting through the next New Moon. Since December 2008, we've had a series of New Moons within the larger cluster of planets between Capricorn and Aries. This span will continue through the New Moon of late April affecting May. This week we are at the midpoint of 4 months of this cluster dominating everything. After that the New Moons will be outside the cluster, and allow for broader perspectives and experiences.
The cluster implies that things are fairly squeezed at present, with a lot of activity going on within a narrow frame of reference. Wherever we have Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and early Aries in our charts is where we have this "crowded house." Whether in our inner world, or our outer activities, this span is heavily activated at this time.
Any large scale cluster of planets provides an extraordinary overweighting in that area of our charts. In this case, everything is contained and defined within the on-going major transformational energies of Pluto in Capricorn biseptiled at the other end by Venus in Aries slowing to its coming stationary retrograde point. Pluto opens the occupied span while Venus closes it.
I've explored elements of this huge cluster in recent Eclipse posts. Pluto beginning the span indicates broad-based upheaval and/or purifications, leading to the sprouting of Spiritual Seeds. Then comes the present Aquarius cluster of North Node, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Chiron, and Neptune. Recently the Sun and Moon were also there. This is a gathering of Aquarian energies of major proportions, and may even portend the gathering and forming of significant elements boosting the energies of the coming Age of Aquarius, as discussed in other articles.
The cluster ended with Uranus in Pisces until Venus extended the sign influence into Aries Feb 2-3, foreshadowing the coming transits through that sign beginning late March lasting through late May. This span involves the rulers of 10 of the 12 signs, thus influencing our charts in every way possible on inner and outer levels. The entire cluster is focused through Saturn's nozzle at 20 Virgo, showing us ground we covered in November 2008 from a different perspective.
Right now, Venus will biseptile Pluto, septile Neptune and Chiron, and triseptile Saturn for three weeks from its stationary retrograde point in mid-Aries. As I noted in yesterday's article, this is a very intense time for choices and changes due to constant pressure in 4 zones of the Grand Irrationality. When the Moon, Ascendant, and Midheaven move through any of the 7 zones they activate the entire pattern.
Since all the planets are disposited by the Mercury-Saturn mutual reception, it absolutely influences every sign in every chart. Obviously the parts of our lives where we have Aries, Taurus, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius will be most impacted, since the planets that occupy or rule these signs are making the Grand Irrationality pattern active.
However, all the signs will feel major impact, since so many planets are still activating sensitive points from recent events, such as the eclipses and the Mars-Jupiter conjunction set long wave patterns of change into motion. These, plus others already triggered as well as those yet to be set into motion are making the Winter and Spring of 2009 a very important time for choosing our futures.
The Winter Solstice of 2008 with the New Moon in Capricorn initiated a new Pluto influence, which as you know from many other posts involves the Galactic Center influences set into motion by anything transiting late Sagittarius and early Capricorn. Large scale purifications were activated which will put pressure on everyone to reorganize their lives for years to come.
The recent New Moon in Aquarius was a Solar Eclipse that will bring in major new manifestations unrelated to past events and actions. We will all be able to open to a new potential arising from Cosmos even as many things end over the next 3+ years preparing the way for more Age of Aquarius manifestations.
The current New Moon in Pisces continues this activation, extending the Lunation influence into Pisces. This boosts the endings natural for this time of year and blesses us to clarify to a greater degree the standards we venerate, as well as what we're willing to preserve into the future through important life choices happening the next few weeks.
Next month's New Moon in Aries conjunct Venus RX will extend the influence into the new initiatives, visions, and laws governing what manifests in our lives beginning in April. These new forms and activities will push well into May when Mars and Venus both move through the Aries zone of the Grand Irrationality and trigger the point where Venus is about to go stationary retrograde.
All of this adds up to the first half of 2009 being an extraordinarily important time of choices affecting the future for all of us, individually and collectively. I'll continue to explore the various elements of decision making as planets activate the trigger points of the Grand Irrationality these next 3 months, and will definitely give you the latest on this larger pattern pervading our times in the next Spiritual Astrology series of articles coming soon.

Robert,
I don't know what the best way to say this, But I may have the beginings of an underlying reason that could prove that astrology truly does work, regardless if the planets have an effect on us.
Actualy I believe the age of aquarius may have something to do with why I figured this out in the first place. So I was wondering if it would be possible to run this idea past you some time.

Sounds and feels very HOPEFULL.
Now, let me ask you a question that I have just begun meditating upon:
What would be the meaning of the North Node getting conjunct with the Natal South Node? Would it possibly mean that where we "should put our effort" (one of the explanations for the meaning of the North Node) becomes easy as a South Node Karmic effect???
Or is this not a proper way to see this aspect?

I am sorry today I am feeling compelled to quote so much! It is just this incredible feeling that you are so accuratelly describing HOW I feel...
My Ascendant degree is the Galactic Center - and I had Pluto there for a number of years... Now, it's moved to a perfect trine to my Natal Moon...
"Patterns of change into motion " sound like poetry to my ears...
Well, I just hope for those "important life choices happening the next few weeks." My Heart of hearts would LOVE to become more FREE for creative and therapeutical activity, writing and humanitarian activities. We shall see...
Namasté,
Isabel

Hi AnneTexas - You're of course most welcome. I try to make sure we're all dialed in to what's happening, since it affects each of us in many ways.
Hi cam - But we KNOW Astrology works! That has "been proved" countless ways by countless astrologers across countless centuries. From pure individual genius to statistical models, the fact that "astrology works" is indisputable. Of course, I'm very much into you sharing insights you may have on the subject, since each and every "proof" becomes useful for all who must debate these things with those ignorant of the craft. Email me.
Hi Isabel - I believe recent astrological events show a very hopeful time if we cooperate with the Aquarian pulses and not yield to the generic chaos. Crossed Nodes happen every 18 years, and indicate a time when the ongoing developmental tendency is showing you how to show what you know, or what to let go of, or your line of least resistance, while the ongoing "show what you know" or line of least resistance is on your line of greatest evolutionary development. While it could mean as you surmise, that concept would need fleshing out a little, since "easy" may not be the best descriptor of the SN under some conditions.
As for the second comment, your Asc on the GC shows that as you become the Self special to the day you were born, you will be able to become the embodiment of some GC lesson or demonstration. Do what you like in gradual measure, and eventually you will be able to do them in great measure. Whether that's part of our higher service is another matter entirely. Sometimes what we want is not our best form of service, even if it does please our imagination. Sometimes we must be trained to do a special function, which we may or may not recognize or even like before we're looking back on what we've accomplished.

Thank you so much Robert, for your insights! I shall meditate better on their meaning...

Dear Robert,
I have just read the first part of your article on venus retrograde on March 6. I have been thinking about this a lot lately due to the following astrological facts in my natal chart.
My natal nodal axis stands at 14 aries-14 libra. North node in aries in the 11th house.
My natal venus is at 14 cancer in 2nd house square the node. This is the most exact planet on the nodal degree.
My moon at 3 Libra in the 5th house is in mutual reception with natal venus. Although the square aspect is very wide.
My natal sun stands at 11 cancer in 2 house conjunct venus, square moon and conjunct mars at 7 cancer.
Looking at previous venus retrograde in aries periods: spring 1993 and spring 2001 they all stand as markers in my personal history. Each linked to disappointment in romantic affairs coinciding with career breakthroughs. Am I heading that way again? Needless to say I’ m unsettled in matters of the heart.
Any advice, insight, hint or clue will be deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much for all your good work.

Just been catching up this morning with your New Moon in Pisces article and this one. And have to thank you once again for your deep wisdom and the guidance you give. I find it so supporting and ellucidating. Your site is quite unique, and I cant thank you enough for how this is helping in orientating me to go forward with great awareness both within the age I live and within my own personal transformation.

Hi Isabel - You're most welcome. Namaskarams
Hi Aisha - I cannot say if "you're headed that way again." Each cycle brings its own challenges. If you learned before, then this will be different, but if not.... You will be moving into your line of greatest evolutionary development very soon, and accelerate the process in May. By mid-Summer you're moving in a new direction.
Hi Mary - You're welcome. I try to post things here that are universal in influence, since I cannot possibly offer all this in personal sessions. Since we're all in this together, and there is a truly global community here, then perhaps this is part of building at least one of the global structures for the Age coming at us like an express train.

Hi, I'm new to post on this site but definitely not new to reading. Been following for a couple of years now.
Happy to know that it's very good reading, very apt, informative and reassuring that we are not alone in thinking.
Would like to know though how to go about my own planetary alignments...as well to mention half a colony of honey bees came into my garden. Any significance?
Posted by: Sue | March 27, 2009 at 11:02 AM
Hi Sue - Welcome out of the shadows!;-) Thanks for your praise of the work. As for your planetary alignments, why not get yourself a chart to study using one of the free astrology sites, then immerse yourself in studying what your planets mean in their respective signs and houses. After that, purchase a used copy of the masterwork "Astrology for the Millions" by Grant Lewi and it'll be easy to figure out what transits are happening. As for the honeybees, congratulations on a great totemic experience! Feed the bees with flowers and prayers, and they'll bring you honey, fruits, and vegetables. They are gifts from the Venusian host who originally gave the wisdom to "animal humanity." The bees are our best friends, and great symbols for division of joyous and natural labor creating abundance for all.
