This mega eco-disaster continues to haunt us, even though the media bailed on the story a long time ago. Thanks to the ever-great TruthOut, we have the latest from investigative reporter Greg Palast on the incredible destruction wrought by Exxon, and a sad story of corporate lies to those who were damaged beyond belief. It's powerful, and shows why our ecology is of paramount importance in our Web of Life.
A few hints according to the story: the captain was asleep, not drunk, and the ship was captained by a Third Mate. The ship's radar didn't work properly, as it seems Exxon didn't want to spring to fix it. They never settled with those whose lives were destroyed. They never cleaned up the mess. It even seems that a majority of SCOTUS shilled for Exxon. There's more, so if you're inclined, check it out.
Here's Greg Palast - 20th Birthday of the Exxon Valdez Lie.
After you're done there, please take a look all around TruthOut, since it's a great source for in-depth articles, news and views of positive change. He's having a fund raiser, and he's worth whatever you can send to keep this service going.
