It's interesting to me that a historical milestone has happened just as the Sun is passing through the Gemini zone of the Grand Irrationality and Venus is septile Neptune. Judge Sonia Sotomayor, a female Hispanic legal eagle, has just been nominated to the Supreme Court. While Mercury is still retrograde it is speeding up, and still in very favorable aspect to Uranus and Saturn. Judge Sonia knows how to dig deep to find knowledge from the past to deliver power in the present.
So another major shift in destiny has occurred as the Sun triggers the Grand Irrationality, especially with its triseptile to Pluto just as Neptune goes stationary direct exactly conjunct Jupiter and Chiron also in the Grand Irrationality. The interactions of the planets are also revealing, as Mercury will continue to release the Aquarius stellium energies for the next few weeks through its square to those planets. The unfortunate elements of those squares will be greatly mitigated and major productivity available through both Venus and Mars sextile the Aquarius stellium.
A lineup of planets in late Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, and Taurus should prove mutually reinforcing. And it has been written that the third decan of any sign is the "spiritual decan," so this cluster of planets all in spiritual segments of their signs is a very favorable indicator of what we may expect from this historic development.
And now, a brief look at a remarkable woman! Judge Sotomayor was born June 25, 1954, in the Bronx, making her an indomitable figure of great tenacity, sensitivity, and independence. Depending on her birth time, she has the Moon in late Aries or early Taurus. Either way, as the Moon rules her Sun conjunct Jupiter and Mercury in Cancer, she is one tough legal mind! Add the Mercury conjunct Uranus in late Cancer, and we have brilliance, sensitivity, and the ability to synthesize things in unique and decisive ways.
Her natal Mercury retrograde shows she won't let anything go before she understands it thoroughly, and knows how to blend the best of the old and the new to provide "new blood" to her expressions. (You may want to reference what I wrote in 2007 about Mercury retrograde in Cancer to get a sense of who we're considering as the next Supreme.) It's also interesting that I've observed that people with Mercury RX in their natal chart often have positive developments happen when transiting Mercury is retrograde. Being nominated to the Supremes could certainly be considered a positive development for this person!
She was born just after the Sun opposition Mars RX in Capricorn. The Cancer-Capricorn opposition is mitigated by Saturn in early Scorpio. This is an amazingly patient, disciplined, responsible, calculating, alert, and well organized being. Especially with Mars sextile Saturn in mutual reception, she knows how to hold the line when necessary, while eliminating all that prevents efficient functioning. In short, a master planner and builder.
As with all born in that general vintage, she has Uranus in late Cancer, Neptune in late Libra, and Pluto in late Leo. I cannot discuss all the nuances of those relative to what's going on at present, but I will note that the current group of planets in late degrees mentioned earlier (transiting Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune, Uranus, Venus, Mars, and Mercury) form very favorable aspects with planets in late Cancer, Leo, and Libra.
This makes for a very favorable lineup between 7 of the 12 signs in terms of what's happening in her chart right now. If we add her late Sagittarius progressed Mars, it makes for 2/3 of all signs stimulated favorably. This shows 8 points of a 12 pointed Star pattern - most auspicious! Even the opposing signs are supported by sextiles and trines, so overall the larger trends look good for the metaphysical, transpersonal areas of her natal chart related to the present transits.
This was not meant to be an exhaustive study of her chart, or even what's going on right now. But perhaps there is food for thought at this "intersection of fate and free will" as Jupiter, ruler of law, conjuncts Chiron and Neptune stationary RX at the same time that the Sun is moving through its biseptile with Saturn, triseptile with Pluto and Venus is septile Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune. Interesting astrological phenomena correlated with revolutionary public events!

Goodie! Thanks, Robert.

Hi Robert:
I looked at her chart too. She is one heavy lady! She should be careful not to be used and manipulated by the forces that placed her in this position of authority as she has pluto sitting on her mars and natal Sun opposition natal mars/transiting pluto. I can't help but ponder the key words for her decans in action.
PS- Thanks fo answering my question under the new moon in gemini blog.
Kind regards,
Pamela

This is SO exciting for me, as Sonia is almost like my astrological sister... she was born only 4 days before me and our planets are alike except for the moon. (June 29, 1954) I also know a guy born that day, with Tuarus moon who has an interesting career. What you have just written about her is very useful for me. But the main thing is, I'm so proud of her for coming this far and accomplishing so much. Rock on Sonia Sotomayor!
Cheers, Valerie

Curiously enough, if her Moon is in early Taurus, it will be in a trine to transiting PLUTO (this is an aspect I share). On the other hand, if she was born with Mercury RX she probably had to learn in her childhood and youth to control her tongue and especially not to get "draged" into misinterpretation of her words or expressions... Possibly lot's of misunderstandings at first, but after development these become people who KNOW excatly waht and how they say anything... something appropriate for a legal capacity.
If her Pluto is at the very end of Leo, then it is currently opposed by Transiting Neptune and Jupiter - sponsoring this popular outcome and promotion but also tending to possibly "spiritualise" (Neptune) her power (Pluto) - If I were her, I would also beware of possible scandals or use against her (by oppositors) of any old data...
Well, these are just thoughts...
Namaste

Hi AnneTexas - I think she's a very strong woman. Now if the obstructions for their own sake will stop....
Hi Pamela - I doubt she can be manipulated very long if her Moon is in Aries, and if her Moon is in Taurus not at all! Pluto on her Mars is the planet of absolute power and transformation bringing that energy to her way of "attacking the problems of life." She will absolutely be confirmed, since Republicans don't want to lose 90% of the Latino/Latina vote. They may grumble, but that's because they're devoid of relevant ideas for our 21st century world and its problems. The Dems aren't much better......
Hi Valerie - So you know her better than most!! Also interesting to note that when you were born it was her progressed chart for 4, so when you progressed to 28, she was progressed to 32, with all the resonances you've experienced, just with a 4 year lag. She's nobody's fool, and I'm happy to know that someone with her intelligence and toughness will be there to remind Scalia he's not necessarily the sharpest tool in the shed, even if he is the most smirky and arrogant.
Hi Isabel - Her Mercury RX helps her to come to unusual views that focus on what others are overlooking. Should be good balance wheel for Scalia. If all they've dug up is something she said off the cuff 9 years ago, they're grasping at straws. Again, should be an easy confirmation despite grumbling from the uber-fascists.
