This is part 3 of what the July 2009 Capricorn-Cancer Lunar Eclipse holds for our world. Overall the effect shows consolidation and integration across the Earth and Water sign areas of our charts.
As this article builds on themes introduced in the first two parts of this series, you may want to re-read them before reading this one, since I discuss various critical elements of the Eclipse chart. You can find the links at the bottom of this article.
We pick up the narrative by examining key elements of the eclipse. Of crucial importance is to remember this is all coming down in the next 2 months, which obviously affects all that follows.
With the stellium of Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune still in Aquarius along with the North Node at 1 Aquarius, we will still be pulled into forms of Aquarian idealism calling us to our Higher Self. Wherever we have Aquarius in our chart, we can find a larger work where we can participate toward achieving a greater ideal.
The Line of Greatest Evolutionary Development is in the Span of Defensiveness, the Scene of Contribution, on a degree of mastering the environment "while becoming an integral part of it" and finding a larger vision in a work that will outlive us. We are still healing by finding ways to use a Higher Power skillfully in some thing we're committing to through control of the emotions.
Dr. Jones comments that the first degree of Aquarius is one of "everlasting sustainment," and the need for a stable orientation as we move into a "heritage of enduring ties" which we must neither neglect nor underrate. This is a pull to evolve through remembering our "true state," and maintain an "unbroken continuity between the psychological and physical certainties" of our existence.
The keyword is DURABILITY. The positive expression of this degree is "effective breadth of vision and a respect-compelling depth of character." The "formula" is Manipulating, Ideal, Ingenious, Specializing, Physical, and Experimental.
Eclipses in late 2006 through all of 2007 featured a distinct Uranian-North Node influence, showing we were pulled to find a Higher Law and Will through embracing forms of compassion, forgiveness, and vast understanding of what is common to us all within a Solar systemic or even Galactic perspective. The past two years we had opportunities to see and feel the ocean of space, time, and Consciousness.
In 2008 and 2009 we have experienced more of a Neptune-North Node influence, coupled with other planetary influences such as Chiron. Even though they are no longer conjunct, there has been an overall Aquarian pull coaxing us to find a greater sense of ourselves within the Collective field. We are learning to manage our energies in training to manifest a Higher Ideal, as well as see a larger way to contribute to our world.
2008 began an unveiling of what has been cloaked so we can heal into a better way of doing our Being. This will deliver many blessings later this year when Jupiter goes stationary direct on a degree highly significant in other eclipses. Many have found themselves doing more than they ever previously imagined, while finding a new balance or perspective.
The Sun is the Light, while the Moon gives form to that Light. With the eclipse Sun in Cancer, we're offered ways to focus on the up close and personal elements of life, what we care about and what we need, and how to achieve a more perfect personality integration. The Moon in Capricorn is helping us give form to the Cancer energies through self-discipline, organized activity, mobilizing in a form of group performance, and acting of necessity on our own authority.
The Sun at 16 Cancer is in a wide conjunction with the South Node at 1 Leo. Here the light of personality integration challenges helps us "show what we know" while following the line of least resistance as things erupt. This aspect helps us fall back on familiar ways of showing caring, sympathy, vulnerability, and the light of protection while letting go of and through the spontaneous "conflagrations" indicated by 1 Leo.
The Moon in Capricorn is conjunct the North Node in Aquarius. The North Node develops that which expresses through the South Node. In Aquarius we are shown a greater, vaster view of collective work, ideals, and world service. The Moon in Capricorn indicates the need to do new work initiatives, embrace various types of exercise, and be practical and self organized while taking on responsibilities within a group context.
Look for forms of illumination and integration that shine a light on ways to care for and nurture that which is being dramatically expressed. These should demonstrate through an energetic building in a physically stimulating environment into a vision of personal power and expertise.
The light is in the sign of natural caring and protection that shows us how to release pride, drama, and ego-driven expressions so we can grow into a greater ideal of our personal skill uniting with others to achieve a larger enduring vision.
Be clear about the compartments of your life, and be willing to let go of that which is not conducive to growth, sustainment in your group, or in alignment with your Highest Truth of Being. It may be possible to figure out how to embrace the best without sacrificing something of equal value, but make sure it actually IS of equal value relative to your Highest Truth of Being. Get clear about the differences between needs and wants, and be willing to mature into a greater view of who you are within a team effort.
Other issues involve not getting caught in struggles that are not yours, refuse all that is petty or selfish, and learn a stylish way of communicating how to redirect into a larger view of what's possible or not. Get inspired, don't surrender to discouragement or defeat too easily, find needed cooperation to secure opportunities, and be persistent in working through to the real meaning and significance of what's happening.
Peacefully surrender to ways to offer your wisdom to others in more dignified ways, as well as any gift you may have to help self and others to a greater appreciation of life and its higher values. Practice perseverance as you cut out that which is toxic or degenerative and find new heart strength through purifications.
Though only powerful for the next 9 weeks, you can bet there will be some powerful demonstrations that blow out that which cannot be integrated into the body. Think physical, emotional, and mental bodies. Personally, interpersonally, and transpersonally. This will be a great time to do what we must to achieve a more satisfactory personality integration, despite the eruptions, dramas, and sophistry that argues its rationalizations away from the best interests of individuals and groups.
Concentrate, show a lot of heart and love, and go for the "spiritual linkage through emotional distress" that leads to blessings "after the death of useless things." This is a time to be efficient, adaptable, focused, and ready to eliminate that which is an energy drain. It may involve something or someone draining you, or some group work you're trying to do (if you're working on that level.)
Overall, the aspects in this chart are favorable, with the afflictions separating, indicating these are prior conditions setting up what we'll experience the next 2 months. The only forming hard aspect in the chart is the Moon sesquisquare Venus, which indicates annoyances, but nothing that severe.
Other forming aspects show Mercury is biseptile Uranus and Saturn is biseptile Pluto, indicating irrational and/or fork in the road types of experiences where they fall in our charts. Especially with the Saturn aspect, the Grand Irrationality is cranking up its influence over the next weeks, which I'll discuss in the next Spiritual Astrology article to come soon.
Remember that the Eclipse chart is substantially favorable, with Moon trine Saturn and novile the Aquarius stellium, Sun sextile Saturn, Mars tredecile Saturn, and Mercury decile Venus. These aspects are productive, harmonizing, conducive for many Spiritual realizations, and serendipitous circumstances bringing gifts perfect for our circumstances, or circumstances perfect for our gifts.
With Mars now finishing the waxing square to the Aquarius stellium, the 2008-2009 eclipse effects are in full expression. We'll see dramatic shifts that re-shuffle the deck of our activities, find a new rhythm and balance, and please keep in mind that the Grand Irrationality continues in full force the next few weeks!
Another thing that's in play is that through a curious positioning of the Lunar Nodes, we'll have another Lunar Eclipse 5:55 pm PDT August 5-6 at 14 Aquarius-Leo, which will kick even more 2008-2009 Aquarius Eclipse effects into motion. However, as it is also said by NASA to be a weak eclipse, almost invisible to the eye, it will probably just serve to help us clean up and clean out residue already shaken loose by the Solar Eclipses up to now.
A final thing to consider. Even though the Saturn opposition Uranus is still wide, it's getting closer by the week. This will dominate the next few years, and as both move out of Virgo and Pisces into Libra and Aries, even more dynamic elements will come forth and impact our world.
For multiple links to articles on the coming squares and oppositions that will blow things wide open on a global level, please go to The Coming Cardinal Squares and Crosses of Saturn in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries 2009-2010-2011-2012-2013. These energies are what we're training to deal with and turn to a higher good.

... probably the most significant thing i've ever read, in terms of how i can relate this to subjectives. my chances of keeping inner eye on the long term ball are good because of my excellent luck with counsel ... thanks for the posting. look forward too, to what others report ...

Brilliant. I've just shaken hands with someone who will allow me space to showcase some handmade, artistic and colorful crafts. I'd done so in 2007 but my community didn't really appreciate them.
As luck would have it, these items have become a perfect match for several new (and old) small businesses in the area. In an effort to support them and myself, we will be splitting any profits. Price-points are modest; I don't care so much about the money-- I really just want to share and help keep some businesses operating instead of watching them become devoured by major chains.
>:(
Thanks!

Dear Robert,
I find your articles always enlighening and inspiring. I have learned a lot here, and found balance, focus. However, I always get stumped by the following in your articles:
'The "formula" is [varies in different articles] Manipulating, Ideal, Ingenious, Specializing, Physical, and Experimental.'
what does this 'formula' mean? What can we do with this formula spiritually and practically? How does this formula help us/
I wish to understand this formula and put it to the best use I can.
Many thanks for sharing your wisdom with us.

Hi I'm new here
I've been following your sight for some time now and find it very informative and enlightening.
I would like to ask, amongst all the eclipses and challenging aspects of this summer I noticed another aspect that no one has mentioned yet.
Around Aug. 26 mars pluto and mercury are all at critical deg.'s (0) in cardinal signs libra capricorn and cancer, squaring and opposing. Will these aspects affect the eclipse of July 22 at 29 deg. of cancer.
Could this be a signature for an air disaster or some other tragic event ie earthquake, tsunami, military action. Since mars acts as a trigger. And how will this affect people with planets at those deg.'s
Looking forward to your response.
Thank you
Sophia

Sophia/Tiheri,
The pattern is a wide grand cross - Uranus makes a wide opposition (but within standard orb) to Mercury and wide squares to the Mars-Pluto opposition. This appears to be a taste of the cardinal crosses to come in 2010 when the Saturn-Uranus opposition squares Pluto and the inner planets complete the square in spring/summer 2010 (with the moon, obviously, triggering a grand cross every month as it passes through late Gemini and early Cancer). Incidentally, on August 25-26, Venus will occupy the degree of the forthcoming solar eclipse and Saturn, just two days earlier (but while this grand cross is very much in effect), finally clears its retrograde shadow and reaches territory it has not covered in about 30 years. Overall, and Robert will be much more specific than me, it appears that late August 2009 is a taste of what 2010 will be about! I am curious about the trielftile Saturn makes to Pluto and the forming binovile between Mars and Saturn.

Reading some of your text just brought me into an "eureka" state of discovery about something having to do with my own axis of the Nodes... By birth, I have a North Node in Leo in the 8th. House, and the South Node in Aquarius conjunct the Jupiter, Sun and Venus...
For years I have wondered what this meant, but now I can see crarly that throughout my youth and first part of adult life I feared expressing myself and my creativity! And now, I am finnally actively BEING WHO I AM, as if finnally I can APPLY into my values (not necessarily material) (2nd house Aquarius) my whole expirience, learning processes and psychological, intuitive and spiritual path (eigth House in Leo).
Venturing to be who I am and Love to BE (Leo) at the Service of a community (Aquarius).
Does it make any sense or am I dreaming dreams?
Love,
Isabel

Hi all - Something from another comment stream seems good to post here. As I wrote there:
I agree the decans offer more texture to any interpretation of the signs. For readers who want to expand their understanding of Astrology I wholeheartedly recommend the source you used, The Encyclopedia of Astrology by Nicholas Devore. I found it in 1972 and it helped me understand a lot!
Other 2nd decan Cancer keywords: Resourcefulness, Energy, and Powerful Feelings. These are all associated with Scorpio decan influence.
Other 2nd decan Capricorn keywords: Dauntless, Indefatigable Effort Scaling Heights of Success. I give the quality of Persistent Determination to this Taurus decan of Capricorn.
One thing to remember is that some times things must die (be martyred) so that a new revelation is free to come forth on the ashes of the old way.
Hi MB - I try to make my comments relevant and able to be used in navigating the changes. Too much theory and not enough practice creates blockages.
Hi WarriorLady - Excellent. Sometimes it takes time for the community to catch up. Our job is to be on our game when they do. Sounds like a model of cooperative capitalism that feeds rather than drains due to the synergy. Good demonstration of 3rd Ray activity!
Hi NS - Glad most of it works for you. The formula for the degrees is something bequeathed to us by the articulator of the Sabian Symbols, Dr. Marc E. Jones, in one of his masterworks, "The Sabian Symbols in Astrology." The formulas were derived from whether a degree is Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable, which Element, which half of a sign, which 5 degree segment, and so forth. We can use them any way we want to demonstrate our understanding of that particular set of qualities. Our mastery of sign qualities and planetary expressions is the key to perpetual Higher Consciousness expressed through right action, right thinking, right feeling, and so forth.
Hi Sophia - As the proprietor, let me welcome you to the cantina. Glad you like the fare here. Very good catch of the critical degree jamboree. I will write about it in the near future, and I'm glad you noted it here. I do like to give my readers a heads up for what's coming in the near future!
The Critical Degree T-square does have potential to coincide with major events of any and all sorts, geophysical, political, economic or any other thing that shifts directions in hard ways. Whatever happens connected to the late August T-square creates the space for what will show up March 2010, expanded in a big way in June.
Yes, it will be beneficial to the 30 Cancer Solar Eclipse effects, especially due to Venus' degree at the T-square. As to how it will impact individual charts, that's more than I can do in a comment stream, and more in the realm of personal consultations.
Hi Matt - You are correct in that technically Uranus is in orb of making it a Grand Cross, though being out of sign, mutable, and in long range approach to 1 Aries its effect is still "of the old way" since it brings Pisces to the event. I'm writing an article on this event which I'll post in a couple of weeks. The trielftile is too obscure to deal with right now. Transiting binoviles are highly relative to what's going on then. More important Saturn realizations would come at anything going through 2 Water, 12 Fire, or 22 Earth.
Whatever is released by the T-square will be blown out in major ways when Jupiter and Uranus conjunct at 1 Aries in June 2010. May be good, may be bad, but it'll definitely be evident. And yes, as the Cardinal signs begin to predominate, things will start rocking and rolling. It would seem to be a season of Grand Crosses appearing and disappearing at critical moments for some time to come.
Hi Isabel - Glad my take on the Nodes can reveal a greater YOU and set you on a quest. I also have NN in 8th, SN in 2nd. We learn more from our losses than our gains, and grow tremendously when we learn to clean out old everything to make space for magnetism to work more perfectly. As you embrace your Leo magnetism, you'll see yourself expressing your Aquarian qualities more perfectly. The love of your heart will find expression in Jupiter and Venus infused Solar Aquarian beings, works, and ideals. Some dreams are very good dreams. And since matter follows thought, miracles are only a heartbeat away...

Hi Robert,
This is a great article. Thank you.
The transiting stellium of Aquarius falls in my 8th house. They are semi-quadrate both my natal Ascendent in Cancer and the Planet Saturn, which is conjunct my ASC.
Not only that- Transiting Pluto in my 6th house is Square my natal sun and trine my natal Venus which are in the 10th house.
Then Transiting Uranus is conjunct my mid- heaven and natal sun in Pisces and jupiter in aries ( all in the 10th house)
In your articles - I will paraphrase- you mention something about things that need to die - be martyred- in order for something else to side from the ashes. With these transits that I just pointed out- I would say that I can truly understand what you mean by that.
Since I am the middle of it and am feeling many emotions that are cleaning me out and purifying me- I would truly appreciate if you could help me with any information and data that you might be able to add to help clarify these particular transits.
I thank you in advanced.

another great post robert & timely...
i have been observing a lot of emotional interplay with people at this time... "glad to be on observer end" :-)..
this time seems to be one of clearing & cleansing emotional & refining how we "respond" and learning with grace & ease or abruptly to respond & not react...
thanx for your service in light
michele :-)

Hi Maricarda - You're welcome. The stellium is sesquisquare, which while agitating, doesn't seem to produce crises. The Invisible Outers are long range influences that keep us under pressure for months if not years, so we MUST learn to live with those energies using them the best we're able. Find self confidence, deep insights, and great self discipline and you'll find yourself pioneering in new ways of being human! You might want to learn relaxation practices and get a grip on nerves. You're light is being awakened forever. 2010 will be a great year for you!
Go for the high road in all interactions with self and others, allow the lesser, mundane, or fear based self give way to your Divine Revolutionary. Take the long view, let go of all stagnant or obsolete physical, emotional, or mental tendencies, and embrace a greater individualized compassion for self and others.
Hi Michele - Very intense time on a fairly constant basis, esp. with the Grand Irrationality playing us all like pianos in July! The lessons of learning how to be more volitional, less reflexive or instinctive, have been in acute focus this entire year. How we deal with this determines how skillfully we'll be able to utilize our "Spiritual power tools" we're learning this year. Dispassion is always good for being more objective.

Hi Robert, sometimes the comment stream brings forth even more revelations than the original article... Very interesting stuff everyone. And I myself am already personally affected by the critical degrees, as my midheaven is 29 deg. of Scorpio... woohoo, what a ride! As Grant Lewi once said, sit loose in the saddle of fate! :)

Robert, Unforgetful answer from you makes me SMILE and fell HAPPY.
Oh yes, I DREAM to become my better self!
Thanks, hope you are better,

Hello Robert,
I just came across your web site for the first time and I should say it is truly inspiring. I am not an advanced level reader in this area, but just a basic horoscope browser and believing that in this world our lives are mapped for us before hand by almighty due to our karma, and we can do our level best with what we are given to drive for results. Just curious to see if there are any improvements for Cancer zodiac sign (Cancer is my Moon sign as well as Sun Sign. My Ascendant is Leo. My spouse has Moon sign Cancer, Sun Sign is a cusp Libra towards the end, with a Scorpio touch). My life has been stagnant and full of challenges in personal life as well as career. I have read there is a Saturn transit in Cancer that is going to end in September. Any insight would be appreciated. Many Thanks for your guidance in advance!
Kind Regards,
DBK

Hi all - I know it's been awhile, and I'll answer what I can when these articles pop up again from time to time.
Hi Valerie - This is the time to eliminate, regenerate, and magnetise what you want to come to you these next few months. I have no doubt you'll be doing much better by Spring.
Hi Isabel - Glad I can make you smile. "Getting better all the time..."
Hi ryn - Have danced already to some great blues, so that part's all good. I suspect we already discussed at least some of this in your session. I don't really use asteroids in my computations, since the usual meanings seem heavily biased in certain ways. Observe to see what possible effects (in the "real world") the play of asteroids are associated with in your life. That's one way to learn astrology.
Hi DBK - Welcome to the cantina. Glad it inspires you. I'm sure that by combing the archives you'll learn a lot more about astrology and become more advanced in your understanding.
Yes, the astrological map shows us our strengths we've cultivated, as well as the service we're here to do once we learn to transmute our negatives into skills. We are here to become Masters of Life, Initiates of the highest order, such as were Sri Krishna, St. Issa (as He is known in the East), Ammaji, Babaji, Sri Yukteswar, Satya Sai Baba, HPB, Apollonius of Tyana, and all the other Saints and Sages throughout the Ages that have helped humanity to evolve.
You have a very powerful and fortunate Karma, here to care for and nurture all that preserves the best in humanity. You should be initiating new 2 year projects in September and/or early October that will strengthen your heart, courage, and resources. When old ways are over, new ways always open if we choose to use or imagination and respond joyously to opportunities to learn new things, meet new people, and practice new skills. Though many times we get disappointed, it doesn't matter. What matters is that we try to make an incandescent bulb enough times that we finally succeed.

Hi Robert, Thanks for your response & an inspiring direction. I am hoping the next 2 years ride will not be as bad as the last 7.5 years have been. Hope September -October gives me the stability that I desire and have long forgotten - to get my work & life balance on track.
Kind Regards,
DBK
