In part 1 we explored some basics of the coming Lunar Eclipse. So what else can we expect from this New Year's Blue Full Moon Eclipse? Look for opportunity coming forth through selective social activity refining the uncultivated helping us decondition ego assumptions. Of course, there's more!
For some, tugs of war between what's familiar and what's right and responsible forcing more autonomy of action. For others, a rehearsal for greater power and/or visibility in new forms of group activity. This will precipitate the culmination of old habits and the emergence of new authority in roundabout ways, though it may take a back and forth motion before it all straightens out a few weeks down the road.
The Eclipse Sun is conjunct Venus and Pluto, and with the Moon in Cancer forms a powerful T-square with Saturn, throwing the void into the span of 4-11 degrees of Aries. Since the void of a T-square shows the problem and the solution, it clearly indicates a time to emerge from collective traps into more autonomous self-initiated activity. Other frictional aspects to the Eclipse include a Solar semisquare to Jupiter and Neptune with a Lunar sesquisquare. This will assist the breakdown of old Aquarian forms as prelude to the forming of new ones when the Sun, Venus, and Mercury conjunct Neptune in February.
Mars continues its long term semisquare to Saturn and sesquisquare to Pluto, agitating the very powerful Saturn square Pluto discussed in numerous other articles. This is definitely challenging old systems and structures that are no longer suitable to express the creative need of the times. It will ultimately lead to freedom from old social constraints as well as a measure of joy in fellowship with others who share our wisdom, heart strength, and commitment to a shared "greatness."
The Eclipse also makes a very fortuitous quintile/tredecile with Uranus in late Pisces. This should be associated with unique gifts and interactive circumstances where special qualities will come forth in perfect complementary fashion. So those with planets around 11-12 degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces, 23-24 degrees of Virgo and Pisces, 29-30 Aries and Libra will find the next few months extraordinarily unique in many ways that allow special gifts and qualities to come forth in some serendipitous circumstances.
Other aspects show us a Moon novile Mars, bringing forth spiritual realizations connected to these two planetary energies; Jupiter in a wide forming biquintile to Saturn, showing that if we took care of business from June to October then we'll begin reaping rewards over the next few weeks; and Mars biquintile Uranus, helping us build the interactions of our life with others in our creative sphere helping our individuality come forth in May 2010.
The joker in the deck is Mercury retrograde biseptile Saturn, showing a major turning point in our understanding of the Saturn in Libra ideal that's begun to emerge the past several weeks. Due to the RX quality, it's going to bring forth things we may not have considered before now, or offer us a look back to re-evaluate something, or show as a rehearsal period before we "take it to the streets" when Sun and Venus transit the biseptile (though the process may not complete before Mercury makes its third biseptile in late January.
The Mars-Saturn-Pluto configuration shows that anyone with planets in early Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, or around 19-20 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius will experience very dynamic changes. It also implies that any transit over these degree zones will activate the Eclipse effects over the next 4 months.
As has frequently happened the past few years, this Eclipse features a dramatic See Saw pattern, with 7 planets plus Chiron in an 80 degree span from 4 Capricorn to 24 Pisces in opposition to 3 planets between 11 Cancer and 5 Libra. The Full Moon creates several oppositions, and along with Mars separating from its oppositions to the Aquarius stellium, we can expect many diverse realizations over the next few weeks that will lead to separations, polarizations, and awarenesses, most of which we've already glimpsed in the past (due to the separating aspects).
The See Saw cautions us not to get marginalized or out on the periphery of things, and find a whole view to any opposition that can include both views and more. It gives an excellent ability to learn how to triangulate, as well as find ways to "draw a bigger circle" around any opposing forces that encompasses both phases of the polarization.
Saturn and the Moon are rulers of this eclipse, and are in square. This dynamic frictional relationship makes for challenges between habits and duties, the personal and professional life, the past and how we must act responsibly in the present. It will put elements of our lives in the Cancer and Capricorn areas of our charts in friction to each other.
The Moon in Cancer rules itself. Saturn, ruling the Sun and all the other planets in Capricorn and Aquarius, is in Libra. Saturn in turn is ruled by Venus in Capricorn, itself ruled by Saturn. As mentioned in other articles, this is called "Mutual Reception" and is a very powerful interlocking energy dance.
Since Venus is also square Saturn, we can expect new values and likes to emerge from however we've begun to express the new Saturn in Libra energy since October. Venus is clearly strengthened by the Sun, Pluto, and Mercury, and can help us relax into a social role that could ultimately turn out to be very enjoyable once we overcome negative or needlessly rigid expectations in relationships.
The Moon is square Saturn and opposed the stellium in Capricorn. This is a challenge to make our emotional "container" able to express the concentrated energies of the Capricorn planets. Given the span activated by the T-square, you can bet we're going to be confronted with major decisions so we can integrate our personal sensitivity with our responsibility to get a plan to live our ideal.
It's time to assert deeper, more subtle elements of our personality once we see that which we urgently feel needs to be addressed. This is an "awakening" Eclipse, where we break free of old binding systems through rehearsing actions, feelings, and thoughts that will ultimately shape the future, after a period of delay and re-evaluation.
Humor will be essential in deconditioning consciousness and ego assumptions. See the irony in situations to shape better forms of personal power. If there is a need to "surrender" somehow and conform to a situation, it will ultimately lead to a higher victory and show us how we need to mind our expectations in order to see the form of what we really want, rather than a lesser assumption based in narrow view or pessimism.
As has been the case for Eclipses the past several years, all Solar and Lunar Eclipses at this time in history feature Neptune and Pluto in septile, thus stimulating "The Grand Irrationality." More on that years-long ongoing configuration can be found at several articles in the archives.
In the Eclipse See Saw Jones pattern, Pluto leads the occupied pattern. This shows we must demonstrate economy of energy and embrace larger purification practices to organize how our Soul embodies its truth in practical activities. This will bring forth seeds of new experiences, new duties, and new authorship in public ways over the next 4 months as indicated by the eclipse duration.
So the primary irrational influences stem from the continued Neptune septile Pluto, combined with Jupiter and Chiron also in the Aquarius zone of the Grand Irrationality. The lack of inner planet activity in the pattern is only brief, since we have Sun, Mercury, and Venus coming on strong over the next few weeks. As these move through the Aquarius zone of the Grand Irrationality, the entire pattern will be triggered. More to come in future articles.
Since this eclipse influence only lasts through early May, you may expect significant signs and signals related to the eclipse lessons as Venus and Mercury retrograde make their conjunctions to the Capricorn Solar point in the eclipse pattern opposing the eclipse Moon. This should bring Venusian and Mercurial effects to the fore fairly quickly.
Other factors coming forth the next 4 months include chances to build our own world using adaptability and creativity, find a clearer self-expression, and centralize higher forces within us so we may add to or commit to something. We can use humor to release a lot, and so since we will see many closures over the next few months, try not to take it personally or in a negative or imbalanced manner. All endings will help us understand how we fit into the generic human condition.
All in all, a difficult but specializing eclipse. It's also a prelude to the coming powerful Solar Eclipse which will see stability, transfiguration, group recognition and formation, as well as dynamic structured productive growth. Still, since Mars is retrograde in both Eclipses, expect a slower pace than usual, with an emphasis on seeing all push-pull situations as opportunities to reprogram our own or another's unconsciousness or subconsciousness.
In Part 3 we'll explore more about the qualities of this Lunar Eclipse, which indicate that we'll definitely be going through changes that will break us loose from old structures into new ways of doing our Being, even if it stays a bit frictional the entire time. This Eclipse period is a rehearsal, a practicum, and a preliminary action helping us find a role we can enjoy playing. It's about commitment, even if it means moving to unfamiliar territory or doing unfamiliar actions, as prelude to a different ideal of living.

Hi Robert,
After months of feeling divided within myself (Sun 15Cancer, Venus 2Cancer, Moon 19Capri)and with the eternal question "Should I leave a 17 years old relationship or continue?", a separation-transition has been chosen (I'm leaving middle of february). It's not final like a divorce, but it will follow it's way, little by little. I know what I'm leaving behind: a safe/cozy relationship, a security, a house, for the unknown: a new country, a new life. For too many years I guess I wondered "Is this the fullness of what I can be doing? Am I doing the most I possibly can with my life?". I want to reset the course of my life, to come to clarity about the gifts I'm supposed to return to the world, and find the deepest courage in myself. I know it's a radical act, but one I felt necessary to claiming my full self.
And thank you Robert for all of your writings, they have contributed to my personal voyage!
Have a beautiful New Year!

Great post Robert..
Please forgive me for psting a response to Leannas'--but I also know the pull of feeling you have gifts to give to the world and underestimating oneself-or having others do to you..
I also had to overcome through time, patience, and forgiveness of myself and others--that Divine gift of myself-& to find the courage to take the unforseen path to learn more about that "true self"..
After all-we don't really learn our strengths/courage in easy times do we??
Nor are we really living our lives for oursleves-but making compromises right and left in daily life-to let others take bits and pieces of our true selves 'til we only have that one little soul-sliver that finally wakes us up to put oursleves back together in a truer and much better form..
Bless your journey.
Keep the faith.
Thank you for your post so I have hope that others can have the courage you do..
My only advice to you is to throw out dichotomies of black and white and learned/impressed-upon extrinsic values/belief-systems to just accept every moment as it comes as just "is" w/out judging yourslef-but learning where your values line up internally(feelings) with that "Now" or "what is" moment.

That's great stuff! I already have a very creative year lined up,,,first time in a while,,,have also accepted that there is endless Love for me and now merely(!) need to overcome the material limitations...I really need unlimited space and materials and the appropriate funding to get things properly up and running in a credible way. Hopefully I'll even have a link to a wbsite to share soon...is it possible to invoke these kind of changes needed or will these eclipse bring about their own circumstances for me to tally with. Lots of anticipation on this year change...in fact if as they say all my wishes and dreams do come true I'll be climbing the walls!!! A very good one Robert and so much Love Hope and Support here. I hope to add to one day:)))

This lunar eclipse falls exactly on my moon and square my natal saturn which sits at the void you mentioned at 11 aries. I'm hoping that this eclipse will set me on a better path to dealing with some negative traits I struggle with. I've tried counselling and self-will but I can't seem to get free of them or even control them adequately. I don't know if it is the upcoming eclipse or all of the saturn pluto energy but I feel as if I am being quartered (in the ancient sense) by conflicting energies.

hi,Robert, HAPPY NEWEST YEAR
HAHAHA IT WILL BE WHAT WE MAKE IT
NON?
The Only Way Out
(song by me)
In our anger
A wall separates us
Armed with poisoned words
We give into fear
Where is the light?
Can't feel the love!
Where is your heart?
Let me out of the dark!
Bombs have been dropped
Arrows let loose
Everyone one of us
Lives with their wounds
See the light
Feel the love
Open up your heart
Shut out the dark
Forget your hate
Drop all your guns
Let's all join hands
And become one
See the love
Feel the light
Listen to your heart
A new day will come
I see the light
I feel the love
I listen to my heart
A new days has come
I see the love
I feel the light
I give you my heart
We become ONE
(written/composed/arranged July 2009)
peace and more peace

Thank you Robert for helping me get clearer about my path and my choices

Took a look at the big swim cycle in my life. I'm always down to my most simplistic and most sane it seems. Why have I proceeded from those points to muck things up again I don't know. Hopefully I'm older and wiser now. Looking forward to the dive.

Bigger circles good! Oh my!

Hi Leana - Saturn square Venus puts all relationships under pressure. The good ones endure and become richer. The others crumble into nothing or something entirely different. I am sorry that after so many years you're at this point, but better to begin anew than to endure something that no longer works. You should have some solid understanding as Jupiter moves through Pisces. Saturn has helped you solidify much of your life up to now, and you're in a phase of high specialization. Congratulations on finding courage and strength to embrace a larger future.
Hi bethincary - No problem when anyone here offers help and support to another member of the community! Patience and forgiveness are very good things to cultivate. They are gifts that keep on giving! Learning to walk our genuine walk is difficult, but it is its own reward. And being in the NOW is always the best way to be, since it's the only reality there really is.
Hi Marie - The more we embrace our "truth of being," the more resources we attract, one way and another. Remember that an astrological event merely marks a moment, and does not "cause" anything (though eclipses do seem to be associated with things leaving our lives so other things can come forth.)
Hi chickie - Happy Jupiter return! May you have many years of blessings and fortuitous expansions and visions. This year should be good for your Water energies so keep swimming, keep breathing, keep flowing, and keep enjoying yourself!
Hi Cloudland - Eclipses are good for leaving old stuff behind. Lunar Eclipses help us with all Lunar residue that needs eliminating. Sometimes it's enough to set one's intention to end even thinking about or srtuggling with a thing. Lessening the attention on a thing sometimes helps it cease its pattern. And when something's got to give, it's time to get moving!
Hi daz hastings - Well, that and many other things are on my plate for this year. Hopefully most of them will get done!
Hi Micheline - Happy everything. Great song! (forget your hate, drop all your guns indeed!) A new way dawns by inches, but eventually the drop wears a hole in the stone.... And of course, you're most welcome.
Hi Sue Moon - Planning on a good coming two years, given the transits. Also more work and more play. Shooting the Moon seems to be in the air!
Hi caliban - Older and wiser usually make middle age a bit of a blast, all things considered. Often the trick to a good life is getting out of our own way. "Everybody's gone surfin', surfin' USA...."
Posted by: Robert | January 07, 2010 at 03:52 PM
Gosh. Surfin? At my age? I, I, I feel, I feel like a a a, a TV pharmaceutical ad. Thanks for the lift!
