The New Moon falls at 26 Aquarius on February 13, 2010, 6:51 pm PST, 9:51 pm EST, 2:51 am GMT on February 14. The New Moon conjunct Chiron and Neptune will shine a light on the Jupiterian beginnings of these energies that began a few weeks ago. We'll all have the ability to show how we can demonstrate some form of higher power.
This is a very long article packed with a lot of valuable information, so if you're ready, let's go into the mystic!
The Lunation finds 12 Virgo rising in Santa Monica, 11 Virgo in Vancouver, 20 Sagittarius in Rio, 16 Libra in Washington DC, 9 Sagittarius in London, 12 Sagittarius in Amsterdam, 18 Sagittarius in Berlin, 18 Sagittarius in Tallinn, 12 Aquarius in Johannesburg, and 14 Capricorn in Istanbul.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 22 Pisces in New Delhi, 23 Pisces in Trivandrum, 21 Aries in Bangkok, 10 Taurus in Hong Kong, 16 Gemini in Tokyo, 28 Aries in Perth, 20 Taurus in Melbourne, 1 Gemini in Brisbane, 12 Gemini in Wellington, and 6 Leo rising on Maui.
This is the next in a sequences of New Moons that fall at the end of their signs and are followed by Full Moons in the next signs. It is also a phase of renewing the powerful energies of the Aquarian stellium, bringing that (now) year-long altruistic energy into new forms for this coming year.
This New Moon at 26 Aquarius puts the focus on the collective consciousness (and collective unconscious!) and helps us all renew our "healing into our Higher Self" thanks to Chiron's influence. We can see the light of our collective focus and dream a better ideal into possible ideal forms. We will add to, or commit to, a greater value or more refined sense of expression over the next few weeks.
This continues a series of New Moons with a spiritual-individualizing focus. Over the last several months we've found wisdom while understanding Nature's cycles and continued our journey away from "a narrow destiny" and "routine duties."
We've purified our personalities so we could find a more effective Soul expression, and had opportunities to accept power or Grace to take the lead in our world. This one helps us "deliver our higher power" through controlled use of our feelings shaped into useful thoughtforms.
This New Moon in Aquarius is ruled by Saturn. Given the uniquely interactive biquintile between the New Moon stellium in Aquarius and the ruler Saturn exalted in Libra, this should bring some rewards from things past, as well as reunions with those who share your heart fire.
Since Saturn is ruled by Venus, and Venus by Jupiter, we see that Jupiter is the "final dispositor" and thus the main influence of all the planets at this time. Jupiter is helping us all learn to stand for what we believe in, and concentrate on what we value even as the storm swirls around. By accepting certain natural limitations, we can come to a "clear light of high realization."
Venus is helping Saturn to go deeper, be more balanced in how it manifests a "backdrop of compassion," and offers us all links to feeling our community and the significance in our relationships. As Venus is exalted conjunct Jupiter in Pisces, this should be a very favorable lunation in it bringing blessed completion to many things.
Venus is quincunx Saturn, while Jupiter is triseptile, offering us a reprise on the multiple Yods happening the past week, since Venus is also quincunx Mars which is still sextile Saturn. Now Venus is the nozzle for Mars and Saturn, while providing the Pisces leg to the Yod focusing through Mars. To know more about these interlocking Yod configurations, please go to Astrology in February 2010 - Entering the Mars in Leo, Jupiter in Pisces, Saturn in Libra, and Pluto in Capricorn Yods, or Fingers of God.
This is the fourth New Moon with Saturn in Libra, with more to come until April 2010 when the Aries New Moon will again have Saturn in Virgo. That implies we are about to finish our Saturn in Libra lessons through March 2010, which is a dress rehearsal for many New Moons with Saturn in Libra from August 2010-October 2012.
Astrologers will note that Saturn is at 4 Libra in this New Moon, the same degree it occupied by direct motion in the December 2009 New Moon and will again inhabit when it's direct again at the late August 2010 Full Moon. This makes the Saturn lessons associated with this New Moon directly relevant to whatever we experienced in late December 2009 and early January 2010 associated with the Sagittarius New Moon sextile Chiron and Neptune in the Aquarius zone of the Grand Irrationality.
Saturn continues to usher in allies, friends, and fellow truth-seekers as a technique for community building or group awareness. This new Libra energy in our lives will show as solid forms by late Summer 2010 with a powerful activation time the first half of August.
Since October, Saturn has shown us a new archetype, perspective, or role, as well as larger cycles and larger possibilities and the dawning of a new day in our lives. Over the next months we can continue to move past static forms into understanding cyclic dynamics, and find new inspiration and get centered in creative positions.
Saturn in Virgo prepared us to act according to how we've been educated the past 2 years, and now we're re-tracing the ground of the "first run" of manifesting a new ideal, a new archetype, and a new sense of self within interpersonal and collective circumstances. By late Summer we'll be living this new archetype of Being.
Given that the Sun and Moon are biquintile Saturn, we should see things that have come forth since October showing up as specialized ways of demonstrating Dharma ("true function") that demonstrate our unique way of utilizing a form of "higher power." This New Moon also renews how Neptune and Chiron will show us their evolved energies for the next year through the conjunction.
The Sun and Moon conjunct Chiron and Neptune will illuminate seed forms of what the collective consciousness is about as well as how to use these Neptunian energies to "heal into our Higher Self. 25 and 26 degrees of Aquarius are accented, so we are being shown new forms of managing individual, mental, and spiritual energies.
We can find power through emotional self-control, and be measured in how we demonstrate a form of "spiritual power." Commit to adding something to whatever is your higher ideal, open to more subtle and delicate feelings, and tune to those spiritual or aesthetic values which link seekers across the years.
Of some importance is that the Sun and Moon septile Pluto, thus making this New Moon a major trigger for The Grand Irrationality, discussed in numerous articles on this site for years. This makes the next few weeks a point in time when major choices and changes will occur. Some things will not make any sense, and many will find themselves at a major fork in the road of their destiny. For more information about this years-long pandemic influence on our entire world, please read Spiritual Astrology in December 2009 and January-February 2010 part 1 - The Grand Irrationality and Forks in the Road for All Signs as well as the companion article The Grand Irrationality and When It Will Be Set Into Motion For Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Pisces.
The Lunation continues the sequences of "See Saw" Jones Pattern Lunations, with Mars and Saturn separate from all the rest of the planets. Learn to go to the biggest picture without getting lost on the periphery, and find the creative center from which to extend into the broadest view of the overall process. With Mars in Leo favorable to Saturn, strength of heart coupled with a balanced discipline can bring forth new archetypes in function and give us hope that things are about to move forward in very powerful ways.
Given that Mars is sextile Saturn and opposed Mercury, it's a time of needing to be practical in reworking some things based in a larger synthesized view of the whole. Find ways to practice relaxation as well as precise action, as this shows us ways to use Aries energy productively. Those who do will see major growth this Summer.
Mars is still retrograde, though the sextile is helping Saturn exalted in Libra release the square to Pluto energies productively through the adjustments indicated by the interlocking Yods. Saturn is still in tight square to Pluto, discussed at length in numerous other articles. At least Pluto is sextiled by Venus and Jupiter, while Saturn is trined by Mercury and sextiled by Mars. This allows the square to release the beneficial energies built by those other aspects.
For the first time in months, we have many planets in the first decan of their signs, showing an intensely active period. These actional energies are set into motion by Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto. You can see how these rule most of our chart houses, and thus show new activity wherever they transit and rule. (To note, no planet is in the 2nd decan of a sign right now, showing a diminishment of the emotional-social function.)
Mars continues to move toward its stationary direct point at 1 Leo, so continue to rework or slow down old initiatives and agendas from last Autumn while making plans for a form of renewal in a few weeks. This approach will be much stronger than it was in October and November. By April-May 2010 much will be "back on track" in our lives in the areas that have slowed down these past 8 weeks.
Though they are out of sign and about 9 degrees apart from the opposition, Saturn and Uranus still continue to lurk as a very powerful background polarizing influence. Now that Uranus is moving forward and Saturn is retrograde, moving back toward Virgo, we'll begin to re-experience the opposition effect. This will be especially strong as Venus, Sun, and Mercury all conjunct Uranus and oppose Saturn, regardless of what signs they're in.
I discussed this major influence of 2009-2010 involving Saturn opposition Uranus lessons at the link. You can find out more in the recent article Saturn Opposed Uranus - The Centrifuge Purifies All Of Us. Expect increasingly obvious effects beginning March and intensifying in April and continuing throughout the Summer.
Throughout 2009 I explained that this very powerful opposition involving the two "titans of authority," Saturn and Uranus, is revolutionizing our lives and forcing us to adjust, learn, practice, and be very realistic in training for something revolutionary that we're in the midst of. The polarization can assist us in building a new individuality, interactive yet protected, as we embrace needed adjustments, conform to a plan, and do whatever it takes to live the higher worthy standard we found last year.
Because Saturn is still in very tight square to Pluto, expect continued signs of friction or tensions on large and small levels with gear-jamming in the air. As I've mentioned in other articles, it's the culmination of what began November 1982, when Saturn conjuncted Pluto at 28 Libra. This is a long range cycle for human evolution. Things set into motion then will fulfill their process between November 2009 and August 2010, when the last waning square is made. From Summer 2010 on, Saturn will make no more frictional aspects to Pluto until late 2014.
This lunation offers us a chance to find an adequate motive for achieving our ideals, give a more profitable direction to our initiatives, and come out of wishful thinking and useless speculations. It will be good for dropping superficial things, and come to a more realistic analysis of what needs to be done. It is a time when possibilities can be made into actualities, so get it in gear, since you could develop some tangible and practical opportunities.
Open to feeling your individual power in dynamic interactions, see a newer, higher level of personal development, and through a process of exclusion, find a sense of who you are outside of the matrix of your social interactions. If you feel like you have been or are drifting, get a profitable discrimination to figure out what path you need to move down. Keep finding places where sensitivity is an asset or can have a creative outlet.
A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This New Moon falls at 26 Aquarius, a point of demonstrating energies we've mastered, as well as using skills of measurement to figure out what's working and what needs developing.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, we find the Lunation degree is "A hydrometer," showing our power of analysis that helps us achieve our ambitions. Here we can trust the order of things, applying our intelligence to cooperate with natural conditions as needed.
Here we learn that when we take responsibility for events we can shape them as we will and capitalize on difficulties that arise. The keyword is EFFICIENCY, and we are told this degree, when positive, "is exceptional ability in manipulating the fundamental complexities of living."
Furthermore, we find that due to the influence of Neptune and Chiron on the next degree, that this lunation will also be the birth of our ability to find an enduring stability of our heart's wisdom. We are told "where there is replacement of substance and variety of structure there is also an overall continuance of meaning and identity in which self may anchor itself." This is a degree of TRADITION, and "high realization of values and a real gift for using them."
There is a preponderance of planets in Air and Water signs, with 1 Earth and 1 Fire planet. This shortage of Earth and Fire planets indicates a deficiency of practicality and grounding energy, as well as inspiration. But we can feel deeper, broader, and more timeless emotions that we share with all humans throughout time, which should help us be more compassionate and forgiving as we stand on the threshold of a new era.
A note on Saturn in Libra. We are all beginning a new way of viewing ideals and relationships. Follow your understanding of a greater vision or deeper understanding of transpersonal collective issues, ideals, and connectedness. Adjust to create a better world for yourself in connection with others, and open to a deeper understanding you've built with patience, persistent work, and long held aspiration.
The next 4 weeks will offer many opportunities to adjust whatever needs adjusting, sacrificing old things to make way for new developments to come beginning March. We can now find areas of potential action and begin to move in those directions. As we do, these will grow into new truths, visions, and ways of life beginning June. Study and then act, and be a good juggler of different information and points of view. Go to the source, and then dig deep for knowledge that can ensure wealth or power in the new time dawning.

Thank you Robert! Your new moon message is particularly encouraging at this stressful time that many of us are going through. With my sun sign at 26 degrees 14 min Aquarius in the 3rd house this is a much appreciated birthday gift. I'm spending tomorrow helping put on a benefit concert billed as"An Act of Love for Haiti" God bless you for being our much needed Aquarian messenger.

Hi Robert! I want to ask you some short comment.
This T-square is transiting my Sun, Mercury and Mars. It's a crazy and intense drive. I have now the opportunity to move abroad, to a tropical forest project.
After years of nothing, this feels like an immense exciting and liberation!
However, I will drop my good paid job, but more complicate, me and my fiancé will have to be separate for that whole year of the project.
I know that there are no garantees, so I will go anyways.
But what do you think considering my upcoming Uranus-opposition to-Mars?
Posted by: Popplagid | February 13, 2010 at 04:07 PM
Robert,
What're your thoughts regarding the fact that no planet occupies the second decan of any sign-which suggests there is no energy in this new moon (and potentially the Year of the Metal Tiger?) focused on the worldly social realm.
Happy Chinese New Year!
Aum & Inspired Blessings -
Matt

Thank you Robert -- I hope your February is peaceful and happy.
Question: When you say that a sign and a point in that sign is "over London" or New York with a New or Full Moon, what effect does that have on the moon energy in that place?
Thanks,
Annette

For the second time, 7 years apart, I have had to say goodbye to someone I got very close to in their last months-weeks on this planet...both in the same month, February, and both times I have known that this ws their final day, hours before being informed of the fact. Apart from the obvious losses, I am left with this feeling of being privy to some universal happenings without really understanding why. Time is always of the utmost and seems to work in my favor in every circumstance...I do not know what you would make of this Robert, if anything,,,as the carousel seems to spin faster and faster these precious days...xm

Hi kachina - You're most welcome!
Hi Bruce - Happy Solar Return and Birthday to you, Bruce! Glad you found some good things here. This time should help you integrate the great vision you got last year. As a promoter of many events for good causes in the 70s and 80s, a big tip of the hat to you for your efforts to give the world "An Act of Love for Haiti!" May the event succeed in raising both money and awareness of our common humanity!!
Hi Jorge - You're welcome. May this year bring you new vitality and spur you to greater successes, both material and Spiritual.
Hi Popplagid - A tropical forest project might be just what will place you where you need to be as we all move through "the end of the world as we know it" where we'll feeeeeel fine.... I suppose it's always unsettling to contemplate swapping a bird in the hand for the inconvenient unknown, and that's why it take some deliberation and focus to make sure it's the right thing at the right time. Perhaps you can make the relationship work in different ways than before. I've been through that in the past, and they can work if imagination, good faith and good will are in play. Uranus opposed Mars shows you should take nothing for granted, and anticipate what may not be expected. Of course the other transits in your chart are also indicating things beyond the scope of this comment stream.
Hi Matt - Well, I touched on that in the article. It could indicate a year where it's about individual, mental, and spiritual concerns (New Moon conjunct Neptune and Chiron in 3rd decan with supporting Uranus in Pisces also late and semisextile the Lunation) but with a lot of intense activity grounded in the actional, physical, material levels of existence.
Hi WarriorLady - Will try to come up with something, though 'round these parts there isn't much Chinese anything! Maybe mental food from the I Ching will have to do!
Hi Annette - Well, life is always exciting when there's more to do than one person can! When I say that a certain degree of a sign is on the ascendant, it gives readers around the world a sense of where the various planets fall in the chart done for where you are. That shows the general influences for the locale. If the Asc happens to fall near one of your planets, you can bet that planet will be activated during the time span affected by the Lunation. Of course, the planets in the Lunation chart also work their individual and group influence on a person's chart as well.
Hi Morlokk - Blessings of the Golden Tiger to you as well. Perhaps the energies will mobilize many toward a greater generosity of Being so they can assemble to greet the need of their times. I suspect many are finding the Truth of One heart, One mind, One race, One Love, One Light. Aloha and Mahalo....
Hi Marie - My condolences on again being thrown in the zone between worlds. At least you both got the blessing of being in each others' "love sphere." Perhaps you are blessed as a Witness to allow others to move on as a result of your love, and because you are here to do this important transitional work, you are in fact "privy to some universal happenings" beyond your mind's ability to analyze and classify what's going on. (BTW, that's the Pisces in all of us, to whatever degree we are open to mastering those energies.) Maybe you are a priestess who helps open the gates for those who must leave this place, making the way a little smoother as a result of your loving connection.
A very astute observation that "Time is always of the utmost" since the timing of things in our spheres of existence is in fact very precise! It works in our favor as we attune to the natural rhythms and don't spin our wheels or try to push the river. Since this time of year seems to show a pattern for you, you could use reflection, study, and foresight to move into a deeper knowledge of your ability to bless and demonstrate more about the Greater Way of eternal transformation.

Hi, Robert, what a timely new moon as she falls in my 7th house in a separating aspect to my dc and closing in on my natal saturn in the 7th house. It seems that a current relationship I am is taking a more sobering direction and perhaps a more solid direction.
we shall see
thanks again for your wonderful insights
as they make me look deeper within myself

Robert, you know when you say "How we can demonstrate some form of hihger power"
can you give more examples of what you mean by that
i am really confused right now about the whole power thing
thanks

Hi Robert,
This new moon falls less than a degree past my Aquarius moon (25 deg) and less than a degree shy of my 5th house cusp (27.5 deg). I have always found this moon placement to be confusing as it is sometimes considered a 5th house moon rather than a 4th house one. How should I interpret its connection to the present new moon as far as house activities and future influences?
Thanks!

Hi again,
I have end up to my old work in healtcare. Haven't done this in 15 years. Fist day tomorrow.
This is not what I have dreamed of, since I hope I could be more creative, more Me, in other fields...
But maybe I am not talented enough. And still I am happy if I can be a help and not lazy at home. Life is a journey - and here I go again. :)
Posted by: Heli | February 15, 2010 at 10:08 AM
Hi Micheline - I suspect that your Saturn will acquire a new form. Great that Chiron is near your Saturn. Of course, you're most welcome. When we go ever-deeper to our Source, we find an infinite awareness. There are many ways to demonstrate higher powers we have cultivated. A Higher Power always acts in conjunction with Higher Love, Wisdom, and Intelligence. It could show an infinite number of ways. Acting on our awareness of physical, emotional, mental health issues wisely applied to transform something, having a breakthrough in our chosen field, being skillful in doing our gifts for our world, saying or doing the right thing at the right time to bring forth truth, goodness, beauty, knowledge, greater Oneness, great fellowship, deeper authenticity in self or others, and the beat goes on and on and on...
Hi Liz - Based in what house systems we use (I use 2 or 3 simultaneously) a zone is created where the two house influences blend. When a planet is in the zone where they could be in say, the 4 or the 5th house, I always advise to see that planetary function as teaching us how to master where those 2 houses influence each other. I'll explain more in the article I'm about to post. As for the Lunation conjunct the Moon, the focus for the next few weeks will be on your Moon and how you express that part of you, as well as how that affects both the zone it's in as well as the house(s) it rules. Perhaps you will learn more about how your feelings condition the way your past memories (4) relate to your self expression (5). Or how a sibling's values (4) relate to your attitude about children (5). As you can see, the possibilities are almost endless.
Hi Heli - Perhaps you get to work in healthcare to feed your wallet, and get to play at something creative to feed your heart. We are all "talented enough." The trick is to stop comparing our path with any other path out there. Perhaps you need the focus and discipline the one can bring so you can exercise your creativity in ways you have not yet dreamt of. There are many elements of our creativity to be developed in the right way and time. Now is not the time to push the river (not that there ever IS a good time for that), but to remember that to defer is not to abandon.

May you also fare well during this next transforming months of cardinal 2010-2011!

my again,
It was a mistake to work again.
After such a long period in science,
you are not welcome in "basic" field.
Even I liked my work yesterday a lot,
I was too slow...
Let's see what happen next.

Hi Popplagid - May your journey turn out much better than you can imagine! We're all in some kind of flux these days!!
Hi Heli - I suspect you're in transition, so try not to let the small stuff deflect you from the bigger picture. Those who ask shall receive an answer. Those that persist will receive the fruits of their labor, whether it looks that way or not, whether it seems to be "good" or "bad" or whatever. The job is to show up with an "attitude of gratitude," and accept each change as an opportunity for betterment. And thank the Lords of Karma that you are worthy of growth challenges!!!
