The head of the IMF (no, NOT the International Monetary Fund!) has died. Peter Graves, brother of Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon and star of "Fury," "Stalag 17," "Airplane," and head of the IMF in the original "Mission Impossible," has passed on to his next assignment. Of course, the Secretary will disavow the mission if any of his team are caught, and "this tape will self-destruct in five seconds...." For those old enough to know that Tom Cruise could never make the original team, here's a memory of why.

I remember. May the Goddess guard him.

I "love to hate" him in Stalag 17 - now one of my favorites of all time - because he plays against the type we know and love him for. To the uninitiated, his work in that film was simply genius.
May he RIP.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This brought back so many memories of Saturday nights getting lost in Mission Impossible. Blessings, Peter, as you travel the Universe.
