Today is the last part of what the June 2010 Capricorn-Cancer Lunar Eclipse holds for our world. Overall the effect would seem to show stabilization and productivity in the Earth and Water sign areas and challenge in the early Cardinal areas of our charts.
As this article builds on themes introduced in the first two parts of this series, you may want to re-read them before reading this one, since I discuss various critical elements of the Eclipse chart. You can find the links at the bottom of this article.
We pick up the narrative by examining key elements of the eclipse. Of crucial importance is to remember this is all coming down in the next 2+ months, which obviously affects all that follows. That said, remember that Solar Eclipses have a much longer duration of influence than Lunar Eclipses. Solar Eclipse effects last years instead of the few weeks or months when Lunar Eclipse effects dominate.
With the numerous conjunctions in the chart (Jupiter and Uranus, Mercury and Sun, Moon and Pluto, Neptune and Chiron) we should see a dual harmonic at work in most areas affected. In other words, when the Moon point is stimulated by a transit these next weeks, it won't be merely a Lunar effect, but the blended energies of Moon with Pluto. If Jupiter is triggered, it will also have a Uranian flavor as well.
This has important implications for all of us, since conjunctions combine multiple house rulers. When the Sun and Mercury are stimulated, it will affect where we have early Cancer, but also the life areas ruled by Gemini, Leo, and Virgo, as well as any planets we have in those signs. You can see how our charts will be lit up like pinball machines because of the power and quality of this Lunar Eclipse!
When we add the powerful irrational, obsessive, and compulsive energies of the Grand Irrationality fueled by the Moon conjunct Pluto septile Neptune, along with the incredibly powerful Cardinal T-square releasing, challenging, and integrating very strong energies of the entry zones of the Cardinal signs, we can certainly see that this Summer may feature some weird and discontented energy showing us how to redirect and reorient toward the new.
This Lunar Eclipse and the coming Solar Eclipse on July 11-12 at 20 Cancer are the first with Jupiter in Aries. I find it interesting that though this is the year of (mainly) Jupiter in Pisces, we won't see it influencing an Eclipse until the ones in December 2010 and January 2011.
This is an interesting anomaly, since Jupiter in Aries will dominate this Jupiter in Pisces year, while Jupiter in Pisces will dominate the Eclipses set into motion affecting 2011 and beyond when Jupiter will be in Aries and Taurus. So the current Eclipses will be shutting things down and demonstrate through the Cardinal T-square driven by Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Fiery Aries, while the Eclipses set into motion this coming December and January will shut things down while demonstrating a Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Pisces effect. That should finish long term closures, clearing the way for the newness opening at present to be stabilized when Jupiter moves into Taurus in June 2011
Since Eclipses are created by a Lunation conjunct the Lunar Nodal axis, it's useful to examine the Nodes in any Eclipse chart. The North Node degree, a.k.a. the Line of Greatest Evolutionary Development, is at 12 Capricorn. This is very close to Jupiter's stationary direct point in September 2008 which challenged us all to demonstrate a form of self-transcendence in a practical form. Many of us are leading far different lives now than we were before then.
It's also within one degree of the last Lunar Eclipse we had on December 31, 2009, January 1, 2010 discussed in The Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse of December 31, 2009-January 1, 2010 Pt.1. (There's also a second article addressing that Eclipse if you're so inclined). That would imply that this Lunar Eclipse picks up the energies released during the 4 month influence of that Eclipse and moves them one step further. There are differences, but also similarities that may help you connect the dots in what was shut down and how the openings that resulted can be furthered.
The Sun is the Light, while the Moon gives form to that Light. With the eclipse Sun in Cancer, we are offered illumination and integration through accepting some sort of reorientation toward forms of nurture and caring. This will illuminate the up close and personal elements of life, what we care about and what we need. The Sun's focus will help us curb something that would hinder our new life that's unfolding, as well as feel our "obligations to society."
Dr. Marc Edmund Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says the Solar degree is "An automobile wrecked by a train," symbolizing "the irresistible power of completion" once events are set into motion, and reminds us that "it is not necessary to continue any given action to the point of self-cancellation." We are told the keyword is DISPERSION, and when positive, the degree is "a special genius for a creative reorganization of all experience."
The Moon in Capricorn is helping us give form to the Cancer energies through focusing on how to mobilize and awaken to a new reality, responsibility or discipline where we can refine something in our world or claim our authority in some area to bring order out of chaos. The light of the Sun will focus through the Moon conjunct Pluto, sprouting seeds of radical transformation that will bring purification and upheaval in Capricorn areas each time the Cardinal squares and oppositions occur via transits for a long time to come.
Dr. Jones says the Lunar degree is "Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance," symbolizing an "irresistible impulse to action" that brings our "powers of accomplishment" in a personal focus. Here we learn the "necessity that thoroughly practical and immediate considerations prevail whenever the inner or ideal ordering proves inadequate." He offers the keyword MOBILIZATION, and when positive, the degree is "a capacity for aggressive leadership and an unusual effectiveness in sidetracking minor issues for the sake of major achievement."
The Sun at 5 Cancer is conjunct Mercury and the South Node, while Moon is conjunct Pluto and the North Node, with all T-square Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Aries. It would be impossible to state how this will affect you as individuals, as it will release multifaceted conflict challenging integration wherever we have early Libra in our charts.
That said, wherever Capricorn falls in your chart is where you'll grow tremendously by cultivating Capricorn qualities. And due to the planets involved, you can also find growth through self-discipline and organized activity in houses and planetary functions involving Aries, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn.
The North Node develops that which expresses through the South Node. In Capricorn we are shown a pattern of growth through professional or other public initiatives, as well as by being practical and self organized while taking on responsibilities within a group context. Cancer will be how these Capricorn developmental energies will most characteristically express themselves.
The South Node is also where we "show what we know," and must let go of past patterns which no longer serve our growth. Thus the Moon conjunct the South Node in Cancer should be great for letting go of old habits, feelings, memories, and personal indulgences.
The North Node degree is "A student of nature lecturing," which is about blending an intellectual participation with personal experience to participate in sharing meanings with others. It is said to symbolize "direct fulfillment in consciousness" where we can discover ways to master life's endless facets through reason.
Dr. Jones offers the keyword EXPLANATION, and we are told that we positive, this point is one of "self confidence through the acquisition of knowledge and effective self direction through the practical application of all values." Rudhyar offers that this degree is one of sharp vision "piercing through appearances; disclosing the magic splendor of the core of things," and "a universal living touch" through exploring the laws of Nature underlying the appearance and process of phenomena.
Blended through the Lunar degree, it would seem that the above-mentioned Capricorn traits can be expressed in mobilizing a spirit of exploring what's under, over, and around things, awakening a new view of reality and the responsibility we all have to act in our own behalf in organized and effective ways. These will be released and/or demonstrated through the South Node in Cancer.
The South Node degree is 12 Cancer, "A Chinese woman nursing a baby with a message," which is about including racial capabilities in individual ways to demonstrate talents and skills. Here we must embrace the totality of "our kind" in our individual makeup, or seek "to embody universal values" in our everyday lives.
We are told the keyword for this point of demonstration and release is MATERIALIZATION, and when positive, the degree is "a gift for bringing the more Godlike resources or superior powers of self to a point of real community service." Rudhyar says we should search for a mystery, a revelation, or a form of illumination to integrate our personalities so that a form of God, or Truth, may take hold in our personality.
Blended with the Solar degree, it would seem that through the Capricorn mobilization helping us pierce through appearances we will be able to demonstrate our illumination and/or truth and integrate our personalities, or through seeing universals throughout phenomena we can let go of old habits that would hinder our ability to live our higher revelations. In any case, let go of old sentimentalities and feelings and grow into exercising power through organized disciplines.
Look for forms of illumination and integration that shine a light on ways to care for and nurture integration techniques that help you let go of frustration. These should naturally lead to growth in personal power and expertise moving us into new forms of authority and knowledge of the hidden processes of Nature.
Be clear about the compartments of your life, and be willing to let go of those habits that keep you stuck in the past, or which create defensiveness, dependencies, or weakness. Growth comes through surrendering to a higher individual, mental, or spiritual authorship.
It may be possible to figure out how to embrace the best without sacrificing something of equal value, but make sure it actually IS of equal value relative to your Highest Truth of Being. Get clear about the differences between needs and wants, and be willing to mature into a greater view of who you are within a team effort.
Other issues involve not getting caught in eccentric or willful behaviors that move you in directions contrary to your newer, better interests, avoiding corrosive people, habits, or feelings, finding ways to rise to unexpected or unusual events and finding your higher purposes while keeping the momentum in your own hands. Also, find newer, more effective forms of self-dramatization, stop making excuses for non-action and quickly do what you must do to find those values that life will recognize and consistently reward.
Be clear about the motives of all involved if you confront forms of social disorder or chaos, always work toward your own best interests while avoiding secret agreements or people who have hidden agendas or dishonest motives, and find self confidence in the midst of the outer confusion that is sure to present itself due to the Cardinal T-square. Everything calls for the need for balancing or re-balancing, coming to new perspectives and a new sense of proportion, and growing rhythmically into the new archetype of Being we rehearsed from last November through April 2010.
Though only powerful for the next 11 weeks, you can bet there will be some powerful echoes from the past that make you more aware of how many polarizations fit into a larger picture. Keep putting the brakes on that which is no longer a part of your Divine and human body, be self-initiating, move into unknown zones while accepting challenges as a natural part of your growth into a new life, and curb recklessness as you envision a higher way to do your Being on your own terms.
This will be a great time to do what we must to achieve a more satisfactory personality integration by surrendering old habits and mobilizing new ones. Stay on your discipline despite the eruptions, dramas, and cross currents, and you'll find a new view of self and the world by August.
Overall, this Eclipse will be very effective in freeing us from old patterns while offering us glimpses of our genius or unique qualities. Most of the trouble of the much-feared T-square is already in the past, as indicated by the separating aspects. This fundamental and important fact has been ignored by many astrologers who are caught up in dreading the T-square.
Though some people will experience forms of wreckage in their lives, illuminating what they should be letting go of, I believe there is little to fear from this eclipse, and a lot of positive work can be accomplished by combining imagination and engineering in a spirit of self-mobilization within a group, social, or community context.
We've all been recently challenged to develop a larger social sense to antidote any feeling of being excluded from life's activities, as well as control excessively intense feelings. We've also been shown opportunities to be more pioneering in some mundane way, as well ways to tap life's unsuspected resources to awaken self and others to greater possibilities.
A final thing to consider. Even though the Saturn opposition Uranus is still out of sign, it's very close and continues to become even closer over the next few months. Because it's been active in many Eclipse charts and Solstice/Equinox charts, it will continue to be a powerful factor globally over the next few years. We'll be dealing with both the past Virgo and Pisces oppositions, as well as the Libra and Aries oppositions, thus impacting many areas of our charts and lives as well as our world for some time to come.

These energies are what we're training to deal with and turn to a higher good.

Are eclipses only about losing things (people disappearing suddenly)or can it sometime be a door for things to come in ? I admit I start to understand what you meant with many allusions here (and also in the comments) about irrational behaviors increasing since a few years. With the sun at 10 Capricorn (opposing my Saturn at 0 degree Cancer) and my ASC at 20 Leo, it seems only the latter helps me to ride this wave. Pluto in Capricorn is tough enough withough the eclipses.

Great stuff Robert! Very helpful as I sit looking out at massive change for everyone I know, self included. It really is all about being present in each moment and there is no room for the past in there. So easy to say, not so easy to do. Off we go, will be interesting to see how we all turn out in the coming years. Love

Hi Robert and thank you!
I have my Sun and Venus in Cancer, Moon in Capricorn, they are both intercepted signs (1st house/7th house). I have the feeling since the eclipse that the energies of these 2 signs are now merging into one solid energy at last! It feels like a total birth, one never experienced before.

Whoa! What a ride this is! Pinball is right on. My life is rapidly morphing in many areas. Rather than resist the changes and challenges I am observing and allowing the processes to unfold while holding the intention of "All is well and We are One."
Thank you, Robert, for being our guide through this major shift in consciousness.
Love and Light to you and yours!
