The New Moon in Gemini - What's Happening June and July 2010

The New Moon falls at 22 Gemini on June 12, 2010, 4:15 am PDT, 7:15 am EDT, 12:15 pm Greenwich. Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon square Saturn trine Neptune will culminate our Virgo lessons and allow us to express our ideals with versatility while learning good juggling skills.

This is a long article packed with a lot of valuable information, so if you're ready, let's move on down the highway!

The Lunation finds 28 Taurus rising in Santa Monica, 5 Gemini in Vancouver, 12 Cancer in Washington DC, 15 Cancer in Rio, 16 Virgo in London, 20 Virgo in Amsterdam, 25 Virgo in Berlin, 11 Libra in Johannesburg, 3 Libra in Tallinn and Sofia, and 7 Libra in Istanbul.

Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 20 Scorpio in New Delhi, 26 Scorpio in Trivandrum, 16 Sagittarius in Bangkok, 24 Sagittarius in Hong Kong, 11 Capricorn in Tokyo, 19 Capricorn in Perth, 16 Aquarius in Melbourne, 19 Aquarius in Brisbane, 11 Pisces in Wellington, and 4 Aries rising on Maui.

This is the next in a sequences of New Moons that fall at the end of their signs and are followed by Full Moons in the next signs. It is also a phase of renewing distributing the life energy of Aries that was substantiated in Taurus.

This New Moon at 22 Gemini puts the focus on individual ideas, perception, and communication techniques, and jumpstarts Gemini energy wherever it falls in our chart. This time initiates new ways of exploring, understanding, and using our mind to secure those substances and ideas that support our new sense of self, and expressing the new self-image emerging the past two months.

This is the next in a series of New Moons with a social-emotional-cultural focus. The last New Moon had a Mutable T-square, indicating the past four weeks helped us integrate our personalities, leave behind old rules and limitations, and open to major transitions as we continue to get in shape by expressing our individual uniqueness.

Saturn continues to occupy the end of Virgo. This can show us how a "wisdom form" has gestated in our lives as we solidify our journey away from "a narrow destiny" and "routine duties." We're now in the final months of finishing our Saturn in Virgo lessons we learned between Autumn 2007-2009.

This New Moon in Gemini is ruled by Mercury in Gemini. As Mercury is in its home sign, aka one of the two signs it "rules," it makes it a very powerful force in the chart. If we follow the "chain of rulerships," we see Mercury is the "final dispositor" for all the other planetary energies. So Mercury is the dominant influence in the Lunation chart.

Given that Mercury and Venus are in septile, you can bet the coming weeks will bring more important choices that may not make much sense but have to be made anyway. The zones of greatest influence involve about 4-6 Gemini, 27-29 Cancer, 18-20 Virgo, 10-12 Scorpio, 1-3 Capricorn, 22-24 Aquarius, and 13-15 Aries.

If you have a planet or point to a degree to either side of these zones, expect big changes in your life over the next few weeks. As these zones immediately precede the zone of the Grand Irrationality, you can bet there will be periods of constant hard-edged wave forms dominating the atmosphere each time the Moon moves through these 7 overlapping wide zones.

This is the third in the final sequence of New Moons with Saturn in Virgo that will last through July. This begins the final completion of the Saturn in Virgo lessons we've been learning since Summer 2007. During the coming weeks we are learning to apply our will power to escape from the "narrow destiny" we were living before a couple of years ago.

This Saturn in Virgo Lunation sequence follows the New Moons between November 2009 and March 2010 which had Saturn in Libra. These gave us a front end look at the lessons and responsibilities that will resume this August when Saturn will again be in Libra for many months thereafter. This implies that in Autumn 2009 and Winter 2009-10 we got a look at future Saturn in Libra lessons, representing a dress rehearsal for the many New Moons with Saturn in Libra resuming August 2010-October 2012.

Saturn continues to usher in allies, friends, fellow truth-seekers, more balanced views, and corrective actions as techniques for community building or group awareness. Since January, "greatness calling itself to itself" has been in the air! The new Libra energy in our lives since last November has now been reviewed, and will show as solid forms by late Summer 2010 with a powerful activation time the first half of August.

Beginning late last October, Saturn has been showing us new archetypes, perspectives, or roles, as well as larger cycles, larger possibilities, and the dawning of a new day in our lives. Between January and early April, due to Saturn going retrograde, we re-traced the ground of the "first run" of manifesting a new ideal, a new archetype, and a new sense of self within interpersonal and collective circumstances. March offered us new insights regarding cyclic dynamics, and can see the emerging archetypes from a different angle than before now.

The Lunation features a "Bucket" Jones Pattern, with Pluto as the handle, or nozzle, through which the other planets focus the energy. Mobilize, get "on the warpath," and assert the deepest and most profound spiritual energy you can mobilize in an organized way!

As Pluto is conjunct the North Node, we can "pierce through appearances" to find the magical splendor at the core of things. We will be educated in the seeds of a discipline that through purification will ultimately sprout new forms of power or authorship in our lives.

With Mars trine Pluto, Mercury quincunx Pluto, and Jupiter and Uranus both square Pluto, it will make for many major turns and twists forcing adjustments due to what's coming up. This unlocks parts of the new archetypes through the decisions and reorientations we're making.

Do not decide to do things against your best interests, keep bringing your excellence to the fore, avoid reckless behavior, and examine old hopes and dreams, allowing the best to come forth. There is Divine protection in the air, as well as inner powers and strengths to bring to the surface. Many will find Divine help when human efforts fail.

Keep it very simple, straightforward, pleasant and determined. Things set into motion in the past few weeks are moving forward, if not dramatically. Yet at times it will be very dramatic due to the major Aries-Capricorn squares going on! See the power in the symbols, find a new stability, and allow whatever needs to crumble to be blown away by new information and developments in motion.

In this Lunation, since Saturn is in the final degrees of Virgo, we are still in the heart of the Saturn opposition Uranus, even though they are out of sign. Still, since they are less than 3 degrees apart, and Saturn in direct motion approaches the next opposition in a few weeks, it's an extremely powerful polarizing influence.

This opposition was in our face last Autumn, and since January we've begun to re-experience this extreme energy. It is now the heart of the storm, and will be through the Summer. (Jupiter retrograde will echo many of the lessons and issues of this opposition this Autumn, but that's another article for another time.)

Expect increasingly obvious effects beginning this month continuing throughout the Summer. Throughout 2009 I explained that this very powerful opposition involving the two "titans of authority," Saturn and Uranus, is revolutionizing our lives and forcing us to adjust, learn, practice, and be very realistic in training for something revolutionary that we're in the midst of. The polarization can assist us in building a new individuality, interactive yet protected, as we embrace needed adjustments, conform to a plan, and do whatever it takes to live the higher worthy standard we found last year.

Though out of sign, Saturn is beginning to make a square to Pluto. This symbolizes the continued friction and tensions on large and small levels with gear-jamming in the air. As I've mentioned in other articles, it's the culmination of what began November 1982, when Saturn conjuncted Pluto at 28 Libra. This is a long range cycle for human evolution. Things set into motion then are fulfilling their process between November 2009 and August 2010, when the last waning square is made. From Summer 2010 on, Saturn will make no more frictional aspects to Pluto until late 2014.

Among the important forming aspects, showing things to come, we find the Lunation trine to Neptune and square to Saturn, making no other aspects. This shows a powerful culminating period that will stabilize how we creatively express our idealism. Let go of lesser things, make the decisions that help you integrate your feelings with your interests, don't get discouraged, and deepen your insight to find a more organized sense of proportion.

Figure out what you really care about and what you can offer others who thirst for what you know. Find those who share your sense of social or cultural values and who also are part of the world group who in their own ways are building a new way of living and a better world. Many skills we discovered the past 10 years can be used now in balanced and refined ways.

Other important forming aspects besides those already discussed are Venus trine Jupiter and Uranus (out of sign), Venus quincunx Neptune, Venus triseptile Pluto triggering the Grand Irrationality, and Mars triseptile Jupiter and Uranus. The triseptiles will trigger forks in the road of our lives wherever they fall, and impact the houses these planets rule. I cannot offer how these will work out due to the sheer number of possibilities that will come forth.

Clearly the areas in our charts involving Taurus, Cancer, Libra, Aquarius, and Pisces are at a crossroads, as are areas involving Aries, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Friction is happening in the last decan of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces that should help us turn corners and release the past based in the lessons we've learned the past 2+ years.

Make adjustments in your ideals or illusions, get focused with a broader point of view, and cooperate with others who help you emerge from whatever cocoon you've been in. Again, there are invisible helpers, angels, devas, and inner powers that can come forth to assist the new emergent reality indicated by the Jupiter conjunct Uranus at the critical degree of 1 Aries explained in recent articles. Two important themes connected with our "helping angels" or inner powers to demonstrate are expectancy and flexibility. It may mean to change your expectancies, or be flexible as they manifest. It may mean to examine your expectancies to see how being flexible can help them come forth.

A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This New Moon falls at 22 Gemini, a point of a "richness of life in associations based on natural instincts" and "normal fulfillment of self." Rudhyar says it's a degree of enjoyment of "organic functions and emotional drives," showing us a way to express a balanced personality. We are told this "stresses the value of rhythmic, healthful activity" leading to "bioenergetic rebuilding."

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, we find the Lunation degree is "A barn dance," showing self-fulfillment through community activities and sharing of our potentials through a process of give and take. The keyword is GREGARIOUSNESS, and we are told this degree, when positive, is "an ability to plunge into major and rewarding experiences without the least self-reservation."

This is a Lunation where we can bring old heaviness and limitations to completion and understand different perspectives. It will be an efficient time, if challenging in that we must continue to move into new worlds using our will and skills developed the past 2+ years. Do not curb your enthusiasm - embrace your enthusiasm! Get out and about, share information and learn new things, and interact with your community.

There are 4 planets in Air signs, with 1 in Water, 2 in Fire, and 3 in Earth. This preponderance of Earth and Air is good for practical ideas and associations, but the shortage of Water indicates a deficiency of feeling connected. So keep it light, practical, organized, and associative with some personal changes coming forth from feeling needs.

A final note on Saturn transitioning from Virgo back into Libra for the next several weeks. We have all been introduced to new ways of viewing ideals and relationships. This has prompted us to follow our understanding of a greater vision or deeper understanding of transpersonal collective issues, ideals, and connectedness.

We've seen the beginning of adjustments to create a better world for ourselves in connection with others, and had opportunities to open to a deeper understanding through patience, persistent work, and long held aspiration. Now we finish up our education indicated by Saturn in Virgo, preparing to use our will power to express our personality in June to move into new vistas, new worlds, new lives, and new ways of doing our Being.

The next 4 weeks will offer many important turning points as well as challenges for most of the 12 signs. Due to Mercury's recent stationary direct degree influence much will continue to develop gradually. Still with both Jupiter and Uranus now in Aries, we are turning to new actions, thoughts, and feelings. What is done is done, with final clean up to do this Autumn, so focus on the new developments already set into motion by the Lunations in Aries and Taurus, since they hold keys to 2011 and 2012.

We have been finding new life orders and moving from the old to emergent areas of potential action. As we've done this, we've set into motion forces of new understanding of the process of unfoldment that are leading to new truths, visions, and ways of life in June.

This is the threshold for what will flame on in 2011. We are still breaking out of our cocoon, and transfiguring our lives. This is the culmination of many years of dreaming and the emergence of the concrete forms of those images. Face forward, since what you dreamed in May and will dream this Autumn will be made manifest beginning January 2011.

- well that is really something! I was about to start college back then, was at the beginnings of breaking away from a delusional relationship and also at the beginning of breaking away from the prison-like ties with my mother - 1982 was the start of a very significant time for me... and we're only just getting out of it? : D

That makes me feel better actually as I've been evaluating a lot of the emotional challenges that seemed to have followed me, quite naturally I guess, over the stages of my adult life. I've been feeling a little hopeless lately thinking that nothing has really changed even though much has always been changing on practical levels. I did go to college, obtained a degree, worked in my field, got married, changed countries and lifestyle... still it has all remained under a cloak. Very interesting, and I am absolutely ready to move on.

Hi Alix - Hopefully we can find manifestations of beauty and value in a long wave sense of how we've all grown since late 1982. I suppose it could stir old memories of beginnings and endings surrounding that time, and maybe even soften some of what we believe as a result of our evolution since that time.

Hi Sherry - Thanks for your appreciation. "Order out of chaos" is the key phrase for the 7th Ray, one of the "Sacred Seven" forces that pervade our reality. We all learn to master them in many ways, and then hopefully use that mastery to serve our world the best we're able.

Hi Matt - Maybe your Mars will learn adaptability and become more balanced in how it is moved by mind or instinct? Knowing your chart, I suspect you are learning brand new things on multiple levels of awareness. These will be important for you in 2012. As for the separating binovile, it probably shows that we've all come to a "spiritual" realization in the recent past about the new emergent forms we're seeing.

Hi Sue Moon - Thanks. As I've just written, I decided to accept the ancient office a long time ago, and will maintain its standards the best I'm able. I'm just glad that so many people in so many countries are all striving for Truth, Goodness, Beauty, and Light. It gives me hope for the future of the Earth and Humanity. I believe that all of us together help bring forth the elements of the New Era which will appear far better than anything we've known up to now. Hi Christine K - I take the approach that things in the long distant past have set seeds into motion in our lives that play out over the long haul, whether we see it or understand it or not. And of course, we usually do learn elements of our "life story" when we take the longest view of connecting the dots of the significant shifts over time. While "changing pattern" may seem not to offer perfect freedom from old conditions, as we change our responses to those old patterns we learn skills we can use in our lives and occasionally teach others who also are learning similar lessons. So while some things don't seem to change, we become more adept in dealing with those and like conditions.

Hi Aquarius40 - You should have a new Mercurial expression, a new way of understanding how to coordinate and/or synthesize, and a new sense of proportion. Also, Saturn's station was biquintile your Mercury. That would imply that the Virgo lessons you've learned will become gifts that you'll enjoy if you did the hard work up front (which it sounds like you have....)

Hi ull - Given where Jupiter and Uranus have been and will be later this Summer, you are understanding in very deep ways and feeling everything there is to feel. No wonder you are concerned about Ocean. I do too, with Jupiter at 26 Pisces. Find new creative forms of self expression, new pleasures, and new ways to play.
