This Full Moon falls at the 1st degrees of Aries-Libra, vitalizing and giving form to the new visions and possibilities of Summer, while making our emergent archetypes of Being clearer and more solid. This period will help us focus on who we are separate from the collective so we can express elements of a new self image.
This inspired and relational Full Moon falls on 23 September at 2:17 am PDT, 5:17 am EDT, and 10:17 am Greenwich. The Lunation finds 5 Leo rising in Santa Monica, 9 Leo rising in Vancouver, 10 Virgo in Washington DC, 6 Virgo in Miami, 11 Libra in Rio, 6 Scorpio in London, 10 Scorpio in Amsterdam, 15 Scorpio in Berlin, 18 Scorpio in Tallinn, 28 Scorpio in Sofia, 4 Sagittarius in Istanbul, 11 Sagittarius in Cairo, and 2 Capricorn in Johannesburg.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 25 Capricorn in New Delhi, 3 Aquarius in Trivandrum, 27 Aquarius in Bangkok, 11 Pisces in Hong Kong, 18 Aries in Tokyo, 20 Pisces in Perth, 14 Aries in Melbourne, 22 Aries in Brisbane, 7 Taurus in Wellington, and 25 Gemini rising on Maui.
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out The New Moon in Virgo - What's Happening September and October 2010. As we are still under the influence of the late June and mid-July Eclipses, you may also want to review the numerous articles in the archives concerning those long term influences.
This is the last Full Moon that falls in a different sign than the previous New Moon. This indicates that this 2 week period of fruition of the seeds of the previous Lunation in many ways anticipates what is to come. That is because the Sun sign of this Full Moon will also be the sign of the coming New Moon on October 7, 2010, at 15 Libra.
This phenomenon of the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepare the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way.
For astrologers who may be interested, we last had New Moons in the same sign axis as the subsequent Full Moon May 2008 through June 2009. Beginning July 2009 and lasting through September 2010, we have the Sun of the Full Moon in the sign following the Sun of the New Moon.
Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon. We will again have the Sun of the New Moon in the same sign as the Sun in the following Full Moon from October 2010 through May 2012, after which it again reverses function.
This Full Moon falls at the first degree of Libra and Aries. It is said that the first third of any sign deals with the actional-physical levels of life, and being the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Libra and Aries.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take.
I discussed the Solar degree Sabian Symbol in my recent article on the Mars-Saturn conjunction for that degree. Rather than re-do what I said there, here's the scoop on that first degree of Libra:
The first degree of Libra is "A butterfly made perfect by a dart through it." This is said to be a degree of pure potentiality as it is conditioned through imagination. We are told this degree contains "elements of individual consciousness emerging from primordial formlessness," and wisdom deriving from our willingness to embrace new experiences.(Dr. Jones says) the keyword for this degree is ARTICULATION, and when positive, it offers us "awakening to the need for some more whole-souled focus of character." Rudhyar says it is a degree of a "symbolic death that is initiation into spiritual reality and wisdom," "sudden awakening," and "craving for inner light." Also that it is one of "the immortal archetypal reality that a perfect and dedicated life reveals."
So this (is) a degree of actional transfiguration, of being "made sacred" so that we can live some form of archetypal reality perfect for our Higher Self. That doesn't mean it will be easy. But it will show us elements of our immortality.
The time frame of this Full Moon will help us awaken to a greater spiritual awareness, and demonstrate the light of articulating some element of our Soul character. Examine your dedications, and you can see the light of your immortality.
The formula is Manipulating, Critical, Ingenious, Specializing, Physical, and Experimental. Rudhyar states the degree is in the Span of Expectation, in the Act of Group Integration and Actional level of the Scene of Transfiguration.
The Lunar degree symbol is "A woman rises out of water, a seal rises and embraces her." Rudhyar states this is a degree of "potentiality of selfhood," where we emerge "from the collective and realize(s) self for the first time."
He continues with this phase being where new forms emerge, as well as new potentiality of consciousness." He says it's a degree of development of individuality separate from regressive collective forces that may pull us back into the ocean of non-differentiation. This is a point of emergent awareness where we discover an "impulse to be."
Dr. Jones says the keyword is REALIZATION and when positive it's said to be a degree of "an illimitability of experience of which anyone can take advantage under any or all circumstances." He says we can find a practical grasp of "completely unconditioned potentiality," where our Soul emerges "from primordial nonexistence" through a receptivity that allows initiative to come forth as a result of the interdependence of our emotions and our sense of purpose.
The formula is Manipulating, Critical, Original, Specializing, Physical, and Experimental. Rudhyar states the degree is in the Span of Realization, in the Act of Differentiation and Actional level of the Scene of Desire.
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of our pure potentiality awakened to some need for a more "whole Souled" self expression in a totally new form. We can find illumination in examining the ideals of our archetypal Self that began to shape themselves last November, and how those archetypes became more solid beginning mid-July and activated in early August, affecting us all in major ways since then.
This lunation will power up the process of articulating our new emergent role, focused through new forms of self expression, vision, and adventure that emerged between June and early September. What is coming forth from this Full Moon is the light of a realized new way of viewing self and a greater limitless way of living and being.
With the Sun in the (supposedly) peace loving sign of Libra and conjunct Saturn at this Full Moon as the Moon opposes Saturn and squares Pluto, we shall see echoes of the Cardinal T-square discussed in yesterday's Equinox article. Please reference that for more insights about the T-square that is the frictional, integrative mechanism of this Lunation.
As the Sun now joins Saturn, given that Saturn is exalted perhaps we will see more emphasis on Saturn's power to restructure things in a balanced, nuanced way. Or perhaps the T-square may bring forth Saturn's fear factor crystallizing fear, control, and rigidity. It all depends on how we act or react to these energies.
As with the Cardinal T-square that dominated the Summer, Cancer is the void, showing us the problem (if there is one) as well as the solution, or way to pull the dynamic energies into a focused form. That would imply this Lunation will help us reinforce major decisions that reoriented us this Summer, and give us the strength to move into unknown zones that test our will and willingness to endure our "trial of passage."
Those most affected by these conflicts, changes, decisions, and reorientations are people with planets in the first 5 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, as well as planets between 15-20 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. If you have a planet or sensitive point in any of these zones, it has been and continues to be somewhat of a wild ride, bringing out your true nature, for good or ill. It is working itself out wherever these early Cardinal sign zones fall in your chart.
Since this Full Moon falls so close to yesterday's Autumnal Equinox, most of the aspects discussed there are still in play, except those triggered by the Moon where it did a "translation of light." Please revisit the Equinox article to learn more about the concept of translation of light as well as the powerful Pluto squares, as well as the Mercury septile Mars and Venus septile Pluto, since I elaborated on when these will be set into motion in the near future.
So taking away the aspects in effect at the Equinox, the only forming aspects in this Full Moon are Moon opposition Saturn and square Pluto, the Venus conjunct Mars (which I didn't discuss yesterday, but have in other articles), Sun conjunct Saturn (discussed 4 paragraphs up), Sun biquintile Neptune and Chiron, and Mars tredecile Neptune (doing a translation of light on the separating Venus tredecile Neptune).
The tredeciles bring unique gifts to suit our conditions, or unique conditions where we can use our gifts. They are interactive, and will demonstrate wherever we have early Scorpio and late Aquarius in our chart. Where we have early to mid-Scorpio, there is a long term fusion taking place due to Venus conjunct Mars.
It's really the Cardinal T-square involving the Lights and Pluto that's the primary operator in this Lunation. The Moon is translating the light of the separating Saturn square Pluto, bringing that very dynamic and frictional aspect back to the fore. Expect echoes of November 2009 through early April 2010, as well as late July through August to be the focus.
Again, this T-square challenges us to use self discipline and deep insights to be a pioneer even as we find self-confidence in the midst of the outer chaos. We also have to learn how to go to center to find balance and initiative as partly formed energies swirl around us.
This should help us focus on the emergent adventures in uniqueness and/or individuation that came forth between June and August. The forms we glimpse or embrace these next two weeks will help us get clearer about what we will have to launch in late January 2011, and how to do it in a way that's authentic to us.
Venus rules the Sun in the Lunation, while Mars rules the Moon. These two are conjunct, so that forms the backdrop to how the Lights operate. Venus is on a degree of fellowship, Mars on a degree of breaking away. Both are in the social-cultural span of early Scorpio, so expect very deep feelings to come up.
Based in Jones' and Rudhyar's comments on the relevant symbols, it indicates the backdrop of the illumination will involve companionship based in past associations, focused through forms where the backdrop will involve a "passionate quest for universal values, destructive of cultural ease of living." During this time the Light of Archtypes will be based in service, "physical and bodily essentials," and personal hopes and dreams aligned in shared experience.
The backdrop of the form-builder will be based in independent initiatives "tearing us away from the known and familiar" promising greater opportunities and rewards. During this time the emergent Forms of self expression will be based in ambition for new values which could bring us personal forms of good fortune through dedicating ourselves to previously unknown potentials.
Since this Lunation, like many others at this time, is a See Saw pattern, stay centered, and try not to get lost in the margins even while exploring the outer limits of the field. If you find yourself seesawing between views or energies, try to find the way to mediate between opposing views by finding the third or fourth points that harmonize the opposites.
As with the Equinox chart, we find that the line of greatest development is in attuning to invisible helpers, surrendering separative views to a more universal sense of purpose. We continue to grow through organizing and taking responsibility for which hidden seeds we choose to sprout or not, as well as the powerful transformative forces helping us purify our personalities at the most fundamental of levels.
To sum up, expect more dynamic activity related to your emergent Archetype of Being, targeting what you do and do not care about, what you do and don't need to nurture your greater Self. Protect what needs protecting, strengthen what needs strengthening, and be sharply discerning concerning your duties and interests.
The last several weeks have shown us how to surrender to a greater Grace in our life. We now are challenged to be straightforward and honest about this. The more we can see things as they really are while finding what we honestly care about the better.
It's a time to find direct, authentic, and unedited ways to become more fully aware of the larger changes that have been happening for the past year. These continue to lead us all to greater lives, so do whatever you must do to demonstrate individualized new forms of self expression.

Thank you, as always, Robert, for your inspiring and detailed work. Your explanations help manage and move beyond the external chaos.
Could you define "Archetype of Being?" How do you know what it is really--visions of yourself? I have a sense of what this is because, as you say, I'm experiencing come dynamic activity within me that is related to this emergence, but still working out what is being externalized, or what aspects I should focus on.
Thanks in advance for your answer. Sending you many blessings and a bountiful harvest in every way!

Posted on this, but it got lost in space. Oh that air element. What can I say, I have air issues. Anyway, Marie, I just wanted to high five you on the "feeling this." Just am not sure what it is.
Robert's Pluto square Sun read listing "caution" . . . Should have read that before I overdid on the fall wood hauling. Body ahead of brain. But yes, this "power up" is a good thing.
