This Full Moon falls at 30 degrees Aries-Libra, giving us a superior understanding and ability to focus our power through natural limitations that can show us our playground. This period will help us focus on-going deeper insights into Truth revealing practical seed forms that begin now. These will be stabilizing factors in our lives by May-June 2011.
This inspired and relational Full Moon falls on 22 October at 6:37 pm PDT, 9:37 pm EDT, and 2:37 am Greenwich October 23. The Lunation finds 10 Taurus rising in Santa Monica, 15 Taurus rising in Vancouver, 30 Gemini in Washington DC, 19 Gemini in Miami, 2 Cancer in Rio, 6 Virgo in London, 10 Virgo in Amsterdam, 16 Virgo in Berlin, 22 Virgo in Johannesburg, 24 Virgo in Tallinn, 22 Virgo in Sofia, 26 Virgo in Istanbul, and 28 Virgo in Cairo.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 8 Scorpio in New Delhi, 13 Scorpio in Trivandrum, 3 Sagittarius in Bangkok, 12 Sagittarius in Hong Kong, 28 Sagittarius in Tokyo, 7 Capricorn in Perth, 4 Aquarius in Melbourne,7 Aquarius in Brisbane, 29 Aquarius in Wellington, and 17 Pisces rising on Maui.
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out New Moon in Libra - What's Happening October and November 2010. As we are still under the influence of the late June and mid-July Eclipses, you may also want to review the numerous articles in the archives concerning those long term influences.
This is the first Full Moon Sun that falls in the same sign as the previous New Moon, closing the old cycle of Full Moon Suns in different signs than the previous New Moon we experienced from July 2009 through September 2010. We'll have the current sequences of the New Moon Sun being in the same sign as the next Full Moon Sun through May 2012, after which it will again reverse function and the Full Moon Sun will be the same as the following New Moon Sun.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepare the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So now the New Moon-Full Moon cycle is "back to normal," in the sense that now we have the illuminated form shown to us at the New Moon which is fulfilled by the light of the same sign at the subsequent Full Moon. The New Moons will all fall in the first half of their signs and the Full Moons will all fall in the last half of their signs from now through May 2012. Seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half makes some kind of sense.
This Full Moon falls at the last degree of Libra and Aries. It is said that the last third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and being the third decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Gemini and Sagittarius.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take.
The Solar degree symbol for the 30th degree of Libra is "Three Mounds of Knowledge on a Philosopher's head." Rudhyar says this is a degree of "ability to read spiritual meanings in concrete objects," and "cleverness in understanding." We are told this degree is "the fulfillment of (our) power of understanding at whatever level of existence the person operates."
He goes on to say this is a degree of understanding and wisdom rather than mere knowledge, developed in and through "community and ... experiences provided by interpersonal and group relationships." He states "What is at stake here is a holistic approach to knowledge, based on universals." It falls in the Span of Revelation, Act of Group Integration, and Scene of Reconstruction on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of "the eternal fitness of things," as we can comprehend this for our guidance in developing "full and equal potentialities of skills, allegiances and ideals, and recognize cosmic order..." He further states in this symbol we can "know the world, and... anticipate the ways of its going." He offers the keyword PRESCIENCE, and states that when positive, the degree is "a perfected integrity of self and an exceptional gift for furthering all progress."
So this is a degree of individual-mental transfiguration and achieving a higher holistic philosophical perfection of understanding so that we can come to a view of our greater potentials. Here we can "know beyond knowledge" and anticipate both what is and will be in order to make progress and perfect our integrity.
The Lunar degree symbol is "A duck pond and its brood." Rudhyar states this is a degree of "essential social cooperativeness and appreciation of selfhood," and "contentedness" perhaps associated with "a sense of inner restriction." He also says this is where we realize "natural boundaries," so that we can "bring down to (our) karmic field of operation the message of harmony (we have) heard inwardly.
He continues with this phase being where our "glimpse of universal order" requires grounding and focus through "peace and inner contentment with (our) essential destiny" also known as Dharma. This is where our concrete action and effective activity can be focused through accepting natural boundaries. As he says, if our potency would be substantiated, "Power must accept the principle of focalization." It falls in the Span of Examination, Act of Differentiation, and Scene of Potency on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of our need to "take the fullest advantage of the cosmic ordering." Here we can demonstrate our "ability to establish (our) world of experience according to (our) own needs" by aligning ourselves with our genius and seek satisfaction in being ourselves. He offers the keyword RELIABILITY and when positive it's said to be a degree of "an accustomed competency or ease in dealing with immediate circumstances."
So this is a degree of taking a vision of where we fit into the larger scheme of things and focus our power to achieve a contentment in doing our thing in our natural way with others who we can play and work with. Here we can cooperate, appreciate, and find peace and contentment with the part we are to perform, demonstrating our genius in how we deal with immediate situations.
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of a form of philosophical completeness and fulfilled understanding expressing itself in forms that naturally demonstrate our unique qualities and abilities. We can find illumination in knowing the cosmic and worldly orders naturally express elements of each other and thereby see what's coming so that we may establish our experience according to our own needs, finding our natural place and part to play.
As this Lunation falls on the culminating degrees of Aries and Libra, it shows the natural fulfillment of the archetypal roles already taking shape in our lives as a result of Saturn in Libra. What is coming forth from this Full Moon will show us how our "Prescience" can be made "Reliable."
It is interesting to note that technically the Moon is Void of Course. Does that mean nothing significant will come of this Full Moon? That would be a very narrow and probably inaccurate way of interpreting this supposedly VOC Moon, as well as the coming Full Moons for months to come.
As an aside, besides the objections I raised in my articles on the Void of Course Moon, historically the VOC Moon was used ONLY in Horary Astrology before the latter part of the 20th century. That would seemingly limit the validity in applying it in the other branches of Astrology, including any evaluation of a Lunation where the Moon falls in the final degree(s) of a sign.
However, because the Moon is in the last degree of Aries, that makes the only forming aspects "out of sign," which in no way limits their function. It merely indicates that a transition must take place before the action indicated by the forming aspect occurs. The primary forming aspects to the Sun and Moon involve Moon opposed Mercury, triseptile Mars, decile Jupiter, quadranovile Saturn, and trine Pluto and the North Node, and the Sun biquintile Jupiter and sextile Pluto/NN.
This indicates the need to get clear about how our thoughts are influencing our feelings and vise-versa, especially when we're feeling excluded from something, and to learn how to direct our feelings to better usefulness. We also have to develop a larger social sense and make others aware of unsuspected resources while being a pioneer in some basic art of human existence.
Other things indicated by these aspects show a turning point in how we put our values on display and do our thing with style so that stable seeds of new practical events can be put into motion "before the beginning." Those with planets near 30 Aries-1 Taurus, 21-22 Gemini, 13-14 Leo, 4-5 Libra, 26-27 Scorpio, 17-18 Capricorn, and 9-10 Pisces will find themselves at forks in the road, making choices that will affect how they do what they do for some time to come. This will become clearer by mid-November, and show major results by mid-May 2011 after other events related to these things occur the second week of December, between Christmas and New Years' Day, and late February-early March 2011.
How we focus the next two weeks will show us what and how we need to purify our personalities as a result of the widening of our social experience. This is a good time for releasing old emotional pain by seeing things symbolically, and re-visiting what was damaged through excessive haste, stress, unhealthy habits, while applying inventiveness and skill in repairing that damage.
Other important forming aspects made by planets other than the lights are a conjunction between Mercury and Venus retrograde, Venus tredecile Neptune (echoing the first tredecile between them September 17-22), Mars trine Uranus, Jupiter binovile Pluto, and Saturn sesquisquare Neptune and Chiron. Each of these is significant, but I cannot possibly give all the various ways these will manifest.
That said, our minds can now begin to look at the inward-turned Venus functions in our life, and go deeper in seeing the internalized frustration around old hurts, old values, old relationships, and old desires in terms of what must be purged from our subconsciousness. We can also exercise tremendously potent inventiveness regarding our needs, focusing our genius in ways that help us navigate the upheavals to achieve a successful linkage and integration between our Higher Self and what is natural for us, our circumstances, or what is.
Those with planets around 8-10 Scorpio and Taurus, as well as 25-27 Leo and Aquarius, can expect some highly specialized conditions and gifts to present themselves over the next two weeks. However, all of us should also take note of generalized agitation showing us the need for equilibrium and kindness in finding ways to demonstrate the power of our Higher Self.
There are many important separating aspects, showing things just past. These include Moon sextile Neptune, Sun quincunx Uranus, Mercury biquintile Uranus, Venus sesquisquare Jupiter, and Mars trine Jupiter, semisquare Saturn, and square Neptune. Again, by studying the type of aspect and the planetary influences involved, both in terms of what houses these are transiting and rule in the chart, we can know more about recently passing events.
Venus rules the Sun in the Lunation, while Mars rules the Moon. These two are in no aspect but are in the same sign, so that forms the backdrop to how the Lights operate. Venus is on a degree of repair, Mars on a degree of doing things in grand style. Venus is in the social-cultural span of early Scorpio, Mars in the individual-mental span of late Scorpio, and we can expect very deep feelings to come up in all areas influenced by Venus and Mars in our chart.
Based in Jones' and Rudhyar's comments on the relevant symbols, it indicates the backdrop of the illumination will involve applied creativity, inventiveness, self-renewal, and practicality to balance mind and feelings in finding our "spiritual citizenship" and creative ingenuity in a form of service. During this time the Light of Archtypes will be based in our concern about our potentials and finding a higher mission through dramatizing our gifts to others.
The backdrop of the form-builder will be based in appreciation for our values in helping us "avoid everyday trivialities and drabness," and marching on toward more enduring goals and a more fulfilling reality. During this time the emergent Forms of self expression will be based in a self-mobilized "blare of self-affirmation" that rejects lesser ambitions and roles, demonstrating our ability to direct the course of events successfully "to what might have seemed impossible ends."
This Lunation is a Bowl pattern. That shows we can use what we have to either initiate experience, or "scoop up" experience for our fulfillment. It requires a mix of humor and understanding to offer what we can to our world and become the embodiment of something worthwhile and enduring. As it leads with Saturn and ends with the Moon, approach experience with maturity and responsibility, as well as balance and charm, while closing it with a sense of natural limits and boundaries that help you focus your power.
To sum up, expect more dynamic activity related to your emergent Archetype of Being, showing you how to look above knowledge and see others as the humans they are. Expect some very deep feelings to come up, and many will have to eliminate some things forever while regenerating other things through doing repair work.
Be tender with yourself and others as you walk softly through this time of remembrance and letting go. Some times are more fragile than others. Tenderness is a spiritual tool to be contemplated.
This time will bring a philosophical completion in some areas of our lives which we must express within natural boundaries while playing with others who share that "way of power." This will activate growth in powerful ways, even as we let go of recklessness or things of the past that would challenge our growth pattern.

You brought a lot of clarity to some really deep and abstract things that are happening right now (I have four planets in Scorpio). Thanks so much!

Hi, Robert. This full moon is trine my natal saturn which is posited in the 7th house. I think this will be a good opportunity to look at myself through the people I have in my life who are my friends and any of my newer associations. Also, I think it represents a chance to know myself better through those associations.
Wonderful and enlightening post. Thanks very much.

Thanks Robert, Fascinatingly accurate post as always. As an Aquarian Sun, Scorpio Moon with a Scorpio Sun Partner this full moon brought the happy news we are pregnant with our first baby and due at end June 2011. Talk about a gift bringing opportunities to bring forth archetypes in a joyous, creative way.
Thanks so much for the generosity of your knowledge, insight and continued reminders to strive for our 'higher selves' in all we encounter. That message has never been more important to me than now given the gift of new life I'm carrying forward.
Blessings and very best wishes!
