New experiences of course, since it's the beginning of Spring, and the days will be longer than the nights for 6 months to come in the Northern Hemisphere. The Sun is now in Aries, promising renewal of energy and activity, even as we find opportunity and protection in bringing other things to their natural end.
Today is the last day of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the last day of Summer in the Southern. This is an excellent time for looking at what has ended, what is emerging, and step out of the ocean on to dry land. Just keep following through on the future you have dreamed of, since every day is good for making a better future real.
The Vernal Equinox chart is said to indicate what we can expect over the next 90 days in the way of weather, both actual and symbolic. After many years of being an important factor in the Solstice and Equinox charts, Pluto will again prove important in the coming season, as it does in the charts at every change of season during this time in history.
Due to Pluto transiting early Capricorn, it has been squared by the Sun at the Spring and Autumn Equinoctal points, and has opposed the Sun at the Summer Solstice point. These are very dynamic aspects that release a lot of energy, and either block or propel events.
Although the Sun is no longer in close conjunction, square, or opposition to Pluto during these changes of season, this is the point where Uranus takes over and begins to square Pluto, promising even greater Plutonic energies to be cut loose for years to come! Before now, we only experienced Uranus square Pluto energy at the 2010 Summer Solstice. I believe that the events of last July, August, and September will bear some similarities as the 3 months ahead of us and beyond.
Squares tend to put the brakes on some things, while indicating a "turning of a corner" in other things. Squares to Pluto often show things going out of control or something extreme happening that results in either a favorable purification or a grinding toxicity. Given that Pluto is one of the anchors of The Grand Irrationality, when squared it releases a lot of energy precipitating situations that move people to make choices that propel them into their destiny.
Pluto is the ultimate transformer. It has figured prominently in both Equinox and Solstice charts of the past few years, and will for a few more years. It has particularly affected charts in 2007, 2008, and 2009 due to it going back and forth over 29-30 Sag and 1-3 Capricorn.
This year continues the pattern, though it must be noted that in this Equinox chart we see the widest orb between the Sun, Uranus, and Pluto for a long time to come. In fact, the only other time the square will be this wide will be the 2011 Winter Solstice. After that we have many years of Equinox and Solstice charts where Uranus is in close square to Pluto. Get ready for a very wild ride!!!
The Vernal Equinox of 2011 happens at 4:21 pm PDT on March 20th. That's 7:21 pm EDT, 11:21 pm Greenwich, and March 21 Amsterdam and points east. As with all charts done for celestial occurrences at this time, we see the planets lined up in a "See Saw" Jones pattern. Since it is so close to the Super Full Moon yesterday, many elements of that chart will be the same as in this one.
The larger occupied span ranges from Pluto in early Capricorn through Mercury in mid-Aries, and the other side of the See Saw offers us Moon separating from its conjunction with Saturn in mid-Libra. All See Saws require that we find a balanced view of opposing trends, or find the center to avoid getting lost on the periphery.
On the one hand, we will all move with the seeds of what's coming requiring us to accept new responsibilities and new roles we can relax into, and finish our process this season as we peacefully offer our wisdom to others, or withdraw with dignity from situations we're powerless to influence. These will be balanced by seeing repetitive patterns as ways to peacefully deal with recurring events, as well as seeing the consequences of what's been set into motion since January 2011.
There are also elements of the "Bowl" Jones patterns, since all the planets are within half of the signs (Libra through Capricorn to Aries.) That makes the Moon and Saturn the "approach phase" to activity, ended by Mercury/Jupiter in Aries. A lot of social activity leading us to new initiatives, where we will need humor and perspective to deal with some deep, vast feelings as we grow into the embodiment of something we find worthwhile in our social sphere.
On this Equinox, the Sun in Aries and its worldly ruler Mars is in Pisces while its spiritual ruler, Pluto, is in Capricorn. That puts Jupiter in Aries and Mars in Pisces in Mutual Reception, but with no aspect. This promises a lot of Fire, backed by Water, over the next 90 days, focused through the Moon conjunct Saturn in Libra.
The Air element is also prominent, since Venus in Aquarius is separating trine to Saturn in Libra, making them in Mutual Reception as well. So there are two sets of planets in Mutual Reception that rule the Spring. The planets in Libra, Capricorn, and Aquarius are ruled by Venus and Saturn, while the planets in Pisces and Aries are ruled by Mars and Jupiter.
The chart shows the Grand Irrationality in force, with Mercury forming a wide trigger from 19 Aries septile Neptune and biseptile Pluto. I discussed how Mercury and Venus will be triggering the Grand Irrationality in yesterday's article, so check it out. I'll compose more on this long wave irrational, obsessive-compulsive energy enveloping our planet in the near future. In any case, the areas ruled by Mercury in our chart will see major shifts and "forks in the road of destiny" over the next 90 days, worked out in the life areas where we have mid-Aries.
As this chart has many similar aspects as the Super Full Moon chart, please refer to those articles just posted for more info about what planetary aspects are forming, indicating things to come. In this chart, Venus is barely separating from the semisquare to Pluto, Mars is still forming triseptile Saturn, and the out of sign aspects made by the Sun and Moon at the Full Moon are now past.
The major forming aspects in this chart feature the Sun is exactly conjunct Uranus at 1 Aries, showing this to be a season where major upheavals and revolutions are in the air! Other significant forming aspects are Sun conjunct Jupiter and opposed Saturn (wide, but definitely in play!), Moon trine Venus opposed Mercury (setting up an opposition-sextile-trine configuration), and Moon biquintile Mars.
Taken together, these indicate good building energy wherever we have 17-24 degrees of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius. There is a special emphasis on harmonious relationships, finding ways to transcend the strife of everyday existence, and finding a type of "life alchemy" that frees us from old social rigidities so we can find joy in fellowship, making our life freer and happier.
This Spring stay alert to opportunities to tame and train vital energies so we can "put on a show," and we'll all be dealing with forms of consequences for past actions and nonactions, as well as finding perspectives to understand what consequences lay down the road for what we're willing to do as well as what we're not willing to do. Very definitely this will be a season where we must not be reckless!
Be thoughtful, do your homework, don't make snap decisions, and you should be able to make a lot of progress weaving the Mercury ruled areas of your life with your Venus ruled areas. Develop a larger social sense, focus your feelings to put them to good use, don't lapse into feeling excluded from what's going on around you, and be a pioneer in tapping some unsuspected life resource and bring them to a social focus.
There are no squares in this chart, so while there will be lots of awareness and in some cases extreme polarization, Venus driving the sextile and trine to the Aries/Libra opposition will help us make major progress despite those oppositions. This energy will be most evident when the Moon moves through 14-24 degrees of the Fire and Air signs.
The oppositions between planets in Aries and Saturn in Libra forms the line of the "tension of opposites" in the larger pattern, showing the continuing confrontation between polarized parts of our reality, individual and collective. We are ALL being confronted with awarenesses we must accept.
All of this seems to indicate a fairly inspired and dynamic time of awarenesses and new beginnings refined by the balancing and leveling effect of the Moon in Libra. We'll all be searching for more ideal conditions and a more beautiful life while confronting consequences for previous actions related to the archetypal roles we've been playing since Summer 2010.
There will still be some residual things to finish thanks to Mars in Pisces, but this will also show us how to touch and be touched in different ways in order to find hope and a deeper faith in our own process of unfoldment, despite the abrupt and often jarring effects of Sun conjunct Uranus. We'll continue to withdraw from some things while moving quickly into and through other things, and all of us will be in a much different head and heart space by the time of the Summer Solstice on June 21st, 10:17 am PDT, 1:17 pm EDT, 6:17 pm Greenwich time.
This finishes the endings while giving tremendous power to the new emergent reality, with substantial productivity and balancing of duties with ideals, what we know we must do in a refined and rhythmic manner within repetitive patterns already established over the past several months. There are many realizations about appropriate roles we are to play along with some very favorable social elements that could bring many into new friends, new group work, and new ideals.
It is a time when we can realize new aptitudes, and be self-initiating in our training to manifest our talents. There is a huge potential for spiritual initiations on various levels based in how unified our vision is, and our willingness to find a way to move into our skills within a group context or to serve a higher human ideal.
Given the tremendous number of oppositions involving many planets being harmonized, the next 13 weeks should be a very positive time in all areas provided we find the right perspective or proportion of responding to the needs helping us align with our higher potentials and others in our spiritual group.
We've begun to keep long wave karmic blow back thanks to Saturn, and this Spring's Moon will keep these karmic elements in full focus. Everything going on the next 13 weeks has to be seen as a consequence of a prior action, or a challenge to be aware of future potential consequences down the road. Those who have done their closures before now will find the road to a new future identity opens fairly easily.
The next few weeks will continue to bring us rewards to the degree we've let go of obsolete things in our life, and we should continue to demonstrate deep compassion and/or understanding, allowing ourselves to be attracted to people and situations that show us our Spiritual group work. There are great rewards and protections to be found in getting a broader view of things and detaching from "the industrial wasteland."
Be alert to shallow, superficial, or hypocritical people that drain our vitality. Be balanced and elegant in dealing with these firmly. Here we enter a deeper training that involves us doing our thing without knowing whether we're "being supervised" or not. This "self-induced activity" will show whether we're ready to take our next "spiritual initiation."
Though this time seems perilous, we have nothing to fear. Everything is converging to a point of concentration in late Aries in May, after which we will see rapid expansions and stabilization of the new way, each according to their nature.
So look at what has ended, what is emerging, and step out of the ocean on to dry land. And most importantly, keep acting on the great dream over the next few weeks, even if the way becomes somewhat obscure or unsure. Once Mars enters Aries the fireworks begin, and the rocket ship takes off!
Aum and blessings as we stand on the threshold of a new season of life!

"relaxing into new roles" . . . it seems easier to run. Only because that worked in the past.
This saturn thing . . . Going back 30- years to decisions made then. Odd. Not so different in the feeling, but I seem to be choosing to do it differently now or for different reasons.
With all the external uncontrollable mayhem, my question seems to have changed from what should I do, to what can I do, right where I am.

Oh, this is moon saturn separating conjunction. Home stuff. Well then. I can work with this.

Robins, redwings, sandhills, and canadian geese have arrived safely, but are scavenging through the late season blizzard for food and shelter.

Hi all - Happy Spring to those of us in the Northern Hemisphere indeed! Now if we could just get some moisture here in the high desert....
Hi abluelily - Well, those down under have to "flip the mirror," as it were. It's always intrigued me that the seasons are reversed between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. I believe that your year cycle begins at the Summer Solstice, just as ours does at the Winter Solstice. Perhaps the Sabian Symbols would have been different had Dr. Jones done them in Melbourne, Christchurch, or Johannesburg.
For the purposes of grafting the 360 stages of experience onto the Southern Hemisphere seasonal reality, perhaps you can just superimpose the Sabian Symbol for each day beginning Spring up top with the equivalent day beginning Autumn down under, i.e., you can read Taurus 1 as Scorpio 1, or in this case, our Aries 1 becomes your Libra 1, regardless of what sign and degree the Sun actually occupies.
Of course the Sun is still in Aries regardless, but down under this begins the Autumnal archetypal Social transfigurative experience. At least, that's my suggestion now. I've often wondered how to do an equivalent set of stages for the Southern Hemisphere, and still accept that Dr. Jones came up with something unique and brilliant in showing us the 360 phases of experience which Rudhyar reinterpreted in his own inimitable style.
