Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon in Pisces will illuminate our worth, our merit, and forms of protection as we "pursue our work of Destiny." It's part of a cluster of planets in Pisces, so expect to say goodbye to parts of your past, blessing and forgiving what cannot be taken with you while moving forward into the revolutionary period shown by Uranus about to enter Aries.
These New Moon articles have gotten so long due to being packed with a lot of valuable information that I'm now splitting them into two parts for easier digestion. That said, let's move and groove through the intersections of Fate and Freewill!
The New Moon occurs at 14 Pisces on March 4, 2011, 12:46 pm PST, 3:46 pm EST, 8:46 pm Greenwich (March 5 in Pakistan and points east.) The Lunation is rising in east Australia, the west coast of North America has it culminating, while Rio and Newfoundland have it setting, and the Middle East has it on the nadir.
The Lunation finds 11 Cancer rising in Santa Monica, 18 Cancer in Vancouver, 18 Leo in Washington DC, 10 Leo in Miami, 5 Virgo in Rio, 17 Libra in London, 20 Libra in Amsterdam, 26 Libra in Berlin, 1 Scorpio in Tallinn, 7 Scorpio in Sofia, 12 Scorpio in Istanbul, 18 Scorpio in Cairo, and 5 Sagittarius rising in Johannesburg.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 28 Sagittarius in New Delhi, 7 Capricorn in Trivandrum, 27 Capricorn in Bangkok, 8 Aquarius in Hong Kong, 5 Pisces in Tokyo, 26 Aquarius in Perth, 21 Pisces in Melbourne, 28 Pisces in Brisbane, 15 Aries in Wellington, and 28 Taurus rising on Maui (March 4).
This is the sixth in a sequence of New Moons that fall in the same sign as the following Full Moon. It is also a phase of finishing and seeing the broader context of the possibilities to fulfill the life energy initiated in Aries, substantiated in Taurus, explored in Gemini, grounded by this year's Solar Eclipse in Cancer, renewed in Leo, refined in Virgo, balanced out in Libra, purified in Scorpio, expanded in Sagittarius, organized in Capricorn, and solidified into a vision in Aquarius.
This New Moon at 14 Pisces puts the focus on the dreams, intuitions, and larger feeling awareness opened to us all in 2010 when Jupiter transited Pisces. This Lunation jumpstarts Pisces energy wherever it falls in our chart. This period involves cultivating compassion and awareness of our connections with "All-That-Is" and opening to the promise we were shown in 2010. Once Mars transits 14 Pisces in a few days, we'll see concrete effects connected to this New Moon.
Recent months have offered opportunities to move into more effective internal and external communications, and now we have more contacts than we used to, as well as a greater awareness of our particular field of living. We've had losses and shared experiences helping us eliminate those patterns which would interfere with our emergent archetypal roles and functions, and now can be more at ease with the recurring themes of those emergent roles due to perspectives glimpsed since January's Solar Eclipse in Capricorn.
This New Moon has an individual, mental, and spiritual focus. As it falls in Pisces, Jupiter is the worldly ruler of this New Moon, while Neptune is the spiritual ruler. Those planets ruling this Lunation are in Aries and Aquarius respectively, again making those initiating and group oriented energies prominent. Forming aspects to these planets show the backdrop to what's coming over these next 4 weeks.
Jupiter is forming an opposition to Saturn, and in a very close novile to Neptune. Add a forming sextile from Venus and a separating square to Pluto, and overall the ruler of this Lunation should give us major awarenesses that we can turn into productive forms of healing whatever is not integrated.
Much that we've been waiting for will emerge from its "cocoon" over the next few weeks, and lead us to new ways of life and expressing our Higher Self. So concentrate, see the whole picture and how and when to make decisions, take direction from within, and find a greater assurance than you knew when you were still waiting in your chrysalis.
Saturn is also a very powerful influence right now since it is the nozzle of the Bucket Jones pattern. This makes it the primary focus of the Lunation, and again brings us new lessons related to understanding consequences from past actions and inactions, as well as the need to be aware of future consequences for our actions or the actions of another.
Due to the way the planets are spread out this Lunation, the Jones Pattern also has elements of a Bowl chart, with Saturn as the leading planet. In both cases it makes Saturn particularly powerful, and indicates we need to retire from old dramas and contemplate the trials and storms of our past with an eye to feeling at peace knowing we have overcome much. We can discover what we have to give to our world, as well as find new disciplines that can provide balance and perspective in our lives.
Another major influence is Uranus at the 30th and final degree of Pisces, a degree of the power of visualization to bring forth a more ideal reality. In just a few days it will re-enter Aries and kick off a new long wave era, so this Lunation is particularly important in finishing the old and embracing the new.
We got a glimpse of what's to come in the Summer of 2010, and since September have been closing a lot of past patterns and opening to feel a vaster experience of self within "All-That-Is," in unique ways. This is the end of the end, so say goodbye as you demonstrate a greater faith, compassion, forgiveness, and vision over the next month, since a whole new momentum is on the way in a few days!
Neptune and Chiron are still conjunct at 29 Aquarius and 2 Pisces respectively. This offers us all opportunities to emerge into a greater reality, and heal into our Higher Selves through anticipating what is to come, and finding the necessary protection from "aggressive social elements."
Over the past few months these have shown us our unique part to play within a larger light/life field. These planets, being on "the cusp of the Age," show us global lessons we all must embrace, and help us to graduate into a new view of how we are an essential part of a greater whole.
This is the next Lunation featuring Saturn in Libra, a phenomenon that will last through late 2012. What we learned from Saturn in Virgo got refined by Saturn in Libra between November 2009 and April 2010, which was a front end look at what we've been dealing with since August. These early Libra lessons will be prominent through Summer 2011.
Saturn is currently the nozzle focusing the energy of all the other planets clustered between Capricorn and Aries. Because Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces are the "harvest sector" of the zodiac, it would imply that during the next few weeks we can tune into larger perspectives, transpersonal understanding, and more of a collective, "timeless" view of things even as Jupiter shows us the way of the future rapidly approaching.
This is the last Lunation where the inner planets all occupy the harvest sector. When Mercury slips into Aries in a few days, though it will begin to bring signs and signals of what the Aries energies mean for us personally, we'll still have the Sun, Venus, and Mars all in Pisces, along with Chiron and Uranus.
So all the collective energy represented by the cluster of planets between Pluto in early Capricorn and Jupiter in early Aries will be focused through the only planet outside the Bundle, the awesome Saturn. Saturn shows the cause, the effort, the problem, the solution, the release, the focus, the point of just about everything confronting us now and in the near future.
If you need a way to deal with something or someone, reference Saturn in Libra and the lessons of balance, justice, fairness, and proportion you've been learning. Naturally, the usual Saturn keywords will be crucial to effective behavior - patience, discipline, organization, patience, maturity, wisdom, patience, authority, responsibility, and of course, patience.
Even if things go in peculiar spurts and starts due to the Lunation involving Mercury, Mars, and Uranus in Pisces, it will always involve an element of karma and some lessons about our common humanity. So try to relax despite the weirdness while learning the rules of whatever system we're dealing with, or acting within, showing as much balance, grace, and equipoise as we can express, given Saturn's penchant for heaviness.
We can learn a lot about dharma during the next few weeks, as well as what we should not be trying to prop up through a misplaced sense of responsibility or obligation. If we run into roadblocks or delays, it should tell us a lot about patience, as well as what limitations and burdens we can live with and what we cannot.
Besides being important as the nozzle focusing the energy of the Bucket, in general Saturn continues to usher in allies, friends, fellow truth-seekers, more balanced views, and corrective actions as techniques for community building or group awareness. Since January 2010, "greatness calling itself to itself" has been in the air, and we completed major lessons around that theme between January and September.
At this time, Saturn at 17 degrees of Libra is giving us a review and different perspective on recent lessons and energies from late December 2010 and early January 2011, so enjoy the new look at old business! These will prove important in September.
All the transfigurations in our actions and relationships we've done since January 2010 have now led us to the need to do some form of "repair work," where we can confront the consequences of past actions, and retire from old dramas to free energy to reconstruct elements of our life that bring us joy.
Though not specifically related to this New Moon, let me offer you some backstory to what we've all been learning via Saturn these past 15 months.
Starting October 2009 Saturn began to show us new archetypes, perspectives, or roles, as well as larger cycles, larger possibilities, and the dawning of a new day in our lives. Between January and early April 2010, due to Saturn retrograde, we re-traced the ground of the "first run" of manifesting a new ideal, a new archetype, and a new sense of self within interpersonal and collective circumstances.
We revisited and finished up our Saturn in Virgo lessons between April and July 2010, at which time Saturn re-entered Libra and began to firm up our new archetypal expressions. This was activated in a powerful way in late July when Mars entered Libra and conjuncted Saturn at the critical first degree. Since then we've experienced a new set of life expressions.
The past October 2010 New Moon in Libra continues to be important since that Lunation lit up the Libra area near where Saturn occupies in this New Moon, and where it will retrograde over the next few weeks. That means the Libra seeds that came forth in October and early November will acquire more solid form and structure over the next few weeks thanks to Saturn.
Saturn will retrograde across that point again in late March 2011 bringing different perspectives and returns, and move across it again in forward motion in late August 2011. That implies that whatever the 2010 Libra New Moon was about will crystallize in some way during all of these time periods.
Taken together, these important factors in this New Moon point to finding ways to project different personality traits to protect us as we move into our archetypal roles. We can find "wealth" in many ways, and may have to show our skills to prove our inner worth. We can learn to feel the vaster field within which all life moves and exists, and find our "true merit" certified in some concrete ways as we stand on the threshold of a new era.
This New Moon will help us develop techniques of camouflaging ourselves to protect us from unnecessary hardships, where intelligence and adapatability will provide us with the shields we need. We can find new awareness through "touching and being touched" physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Due to other factors, this is the time to "hear the call," and prepare to implement the vision of the future we saw for the first time April 2009 that was expanded into a tide moving us forward in Spring 2010. We had to finish some things between September 2010 and January 2011, and this is the point in time when we complete what needs ending and turn to a new way. Be joyous as you hear what summons you to some sort of "rebirth" in a collective context, and hold on, since everything accelerates from here!
This will be an extraordinary (and a little weird!) New Moon period, where we can catch glimpses of grace at work and play in our lives and the lives of others. This time offers us all the birth of a new understanding, an ability to see a bigger picture than before now, and a point where we can "graduate into a new realm of Being."
In part 2 will discuss the various aspects at play in the chart, as well as some important degree symbols and other interesting elements affecting all of us for quite a few weeks to come.

any word on the upcoming super moon of chaos this month? i sure dont want to hold onto any such fear --- surely, there is a balance to this power of being closer?

Hi faith - I have no idea what you mean when you say "super moon of chaos." And most definitely, letting go of fear is a constant lesson for everyone, whether our own or when we are in the presence of the fear of another. Saturn is helping us all to perspective, balance, and maturity in overcoming forms of mental and emotional slavery as superficial thinking and lightweight approaches crash and burn.

Great article, Robert. Also I note that today (Friday in North America), the lunar nodes, which have just changed signs from Cappy-Cancer to Sadge-Gemini, are exactly square Uranus, with both the nodes and Uranus occupying the final degrees of the mutable signs. This potent t-square in turn reactivates the total lunar eclipse that occurred just hours after the winter solstice on December 21, 2010, with the nodes closely aligned with the positions of the luminaries at the time of that powerful eclipse. Further, tomorrow (Saturday in North America), the moon crosses Uranus for the umpteenth and final time during its seven-year sojourn in Pisces. This combination of factors is most definitely a once-in-a-lifetime astrological event of some significance. My guess, with Uranus, the lunar nodes and, briefly, the moon, forming a t-square in the final degrees of the mutuable signs, a degree area already highly activated by the winter solstice/TLE, is that this is a good time to try to release as much emotional baggage of the multi-generational and reincarnational kind as we can, in order to lighten the load (!) as Chiron begins its lengthy transit of Pisces. I'd welcome your thoughts on this confluence of factors, Robert.

-- Yes, yes- I got it! And even more so, since it conjuncts my natal venus at 14Pisces :) Just woke up from a dream an hour ago that showed me how. Delicious. A "lightbulb" moment.
"...and now we have more contacts than we used to...and now can be more at ease with the recurring themes of those emergent roles due to perspectives glimpsed since January's Solar Eclipse in Capricorn"
--Breakthrough! That eclipse has been pivotal, especially since it was conjunct my north node. The "new perspectives" have come at me with unrelenting speed, and I have been mentally and emotionally over-stimulated while embracing the change and revelation. Ready for some "ease" now...
"Much that we've been waiting for will emerge from its "cocoon" over the next few weeks"
--I know, it's happening right before my very eyes, and they are both open and paying attention to details. I love the next bit about Saturn...
"...it makes Saturn particularly powerful...We can discover what we have to give to our world, as well as find new disciplines that can provide balance and perspective in our lives.", and "...the usual Saturn keywords will be crucial to effective behavior - patience, discipline, organization, patience, maturity, wisdom, patience, authority, responsibility, and of course, patience."
--I GOT it this time, (finally), "Patience grasshopper..."

--I've heard the trumpet calling, I've prepared the vision, I've prepared myself for this time, and I'm ready to move and groove.
Thank you Robert for giving me all the keys to reflect on the possibilities, to see the forrest through the trees, to prepare and center myself as I ready my being to move into this next "archtypal role". It's coming, and I can see it, and I'm not afraid. It's all so beautiful. This 8th house pisces girl is very happy. I get it, I get it!!!!
