This "Super Moon," or "Mega" Full Moon falls at the 29th degree of Virgo-Pisces. It will show us a much greater view of how the parts relate to the whole and how we can feel our place within a greater picture. Find practical ways to express your education and be willing to experiment. The next two weeks offer us ways to show our wisdom as we stand at the transition between the long past and the near future.
Just as the New Moon articles got so large they had to be split in two, this is the first in the Full Moon series which also need to be split. Part 1 will cover rising signs around the globe, an overview of the Lunation, and the Sabian Symbols. Part 2 will cover the aspects, configurations and patterns, and which signs are most likely to be affected by where this falls in their charts.
This activating and grounding "Super" Full Moon occurs 19 March at 11:10 am PDT, 2:10 pm EDT, and 6:10 pm Greenwich (20 March in Bangkok and points east). The Lunation finds 19 Gemini rising in Santa Monica, 11 Cancer rising in Vancouver, 28 Cancer in Washington DC, 19 Cancer in Miami, 6 Leo in Rio, 30 Virgo in London, 4 Libra in Amsterdam, 9 Libra in Berlin, 16 Libra in Tallinn, 18 Libra in Sofia, 23 Libra in Istanbul, 27 Libra in Cairo, and 7 Scorpio in Johannesburg.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 7 Sagittarius in New Delhi, 15 Sagittarius in Trivandrum, 4 Capricorn in Bangkok, 13 Capricorn in Hong Kong, 3 Aquarius in Tokyo, 6 Aquarius in Perth, 2 Pisces in Melbourne, 6 Pisces in Brisbane, 26 Pisces in Wellington, and 30 Aries rising on Maui 8:10 am 19 Mar).
For those who wonder just what a "Super" or "Mega" Full Moon is, this Full Moon as well as the past two were given that name because in these Lunations the Moon is at Lunar Perigee, meaning it's very close to the Earth in its orbit. That means it's moving fast, and has a slightly stronger pull than usual on the fluids of the Earth.
All of this adds up to higher tides and a great big bright Moon in the western sky just before sunrise. The aspects in the Lunation do indicate volatility given the presence of Uranus, but I'll discuss these and other things in part two.
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out New Moon in Pisces Pt. 1 - What's Happening in March 2011 as well as New Moon in Pisces 2011 Pt. 2 - Display, Hide, End, or Forgive What You Have To, Visualize Carefully and Say Goodbye.
Of some note is this Full Moon forms a cross (releasing energies) directly related to what was set into motion at the December 2010 Lunar Eclipse at 30 Sagittarius-Gemini still in effect. (The link takes you to part 3, which has links to parts 1 and 2).
Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. This one has a wider span of oppositions than usual, due to the oppositional axis spanning late Virgo through mid-Libra. Thus this Lunation should show activating energies for in all of North America (except Southern California and Arizona), the British Isles, Scandinavia, all of Europe, SE Asia, and New Zealand.
As we are still under the influence of both the July 2010 Solar Eclipse in Cancer and January 2011 Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, you may also want to review the numerous articles in the archives concerning those long term influences. Besides the Sun and Moon being close to previously activated Eclipse points, there are quite a few other planetary positions in this Lunation indicating the release of those Eclipse energies.
So far, there are many reports that this is supposed to be a difficult Full Moon bringing great destruction and widespread upheaval. I'll discuss the aspects happening right now down the page a bit, but will note that a Full Moon heightens feelings, and this one has a very close Mercury-Jupiter opposition Saturn, with the Sun in close conjunction with Uranus and the Moon opposed.
This would create some heightened tension and seesawing whether the Moon is full or not! And of course, the Grand Irrationality is in dynamic form right now due to previous activations by various Lunations and conjunctions. We have experienced major environmental upheavals in the past few years (not just in Japan!), revolution and protests are going on all over the world in one form or another, and so is it any wonder the waters of life are highly agitated?
This is the sixth Full Moon Sun that falls in the same sign as the previous New Moon, continuing to offer us a consistent (and "natural") way of experiencing the New Moon-Full Moon sequence. We had Full Moon Suns in different signs than the previous New Moon from July 2009 through September 2010. We'll have the current sequences of the New Moon Sun being in the same sign as the next Full Moon Sun through May 2012, after which it will again reverse function and the Full Moon Sun will be the same as the following New Moon Sun.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepare the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So now the New Moon-Full Moon cycle is "back to normal," in the sense that now we have the illuminated form shown to us at the New Moon which is fulfilled by the light of the same sign at the subsequent Full Moon. The New Moons will all fall in the first half of their signs and the Full Moons will all fall in the last half of their signs from now through May 2012. Seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half makes some kind of sense.
This Full Moon falls at the penultimate degree of Pisces and Virgo. It is said that the last third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and being the third decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Scorpio and Taurus.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take.
The Solar degree symbol for the 29th degree of Pisces is "A Prism." Rudhyar says this is a degree of "enlargement of perception" and "a closing in of vision." We are told this degree is one of "Subtle analysis" and the "capacity of mind to transfer its powers to machinery."
He goes on to say this is a degree of technique to fulfill Pisces energies where we may be illuminated by "the analytical power of the mind necessary for the formulation of life processes in their many aspects." This is a stage where the whole breaks into its parts, like a prism breaks light into many colors.
He gives the keyword "Differentiation," and points out this symbol is one where we may see "the relationship between the One and the Many." He says this degree falls in the Span of Protection, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Perpetuation on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of "the world's stability," where Nature never alters Herself unnecessarily. He states "the reliability of normal processes and the consistency of true intelligence are the foundations of a common knowledge" humanity has expanded over time, and this resulted in our ability to control the environment in ways that promise better achievements ahead.
He says this degree shows us how to take facets of reality and use them as effective instruments "for a measure of the whole potential." He offers the keyword VALIDATION, and states that when positive, the degree is "exceptional accomplishment through judgment of unusual accuracy."
So this is a degree of individual-mental activity in a universal feeling setup helping us see what is perpetuated and what is left behind at the end of a long cycle. Here we see the power of knowing the relationship of the parts to the whole, and through focus we can enlarge our vision and develop closure techniques to use in subtle natural service.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 29th degree of Virgo is "A man gaining secret knowledge from a paper he is reading." Rudhyar states this is a degree of "the understanding which is built on patient steady work and persisting aspiration" and the "fecundative power of ancient wisdom.
He also says this is where, due to a crisis, we should "seek to realign the renewed consciousness with the primordial Revelation of the Truth of Man." This certainly describes a major global theme around the world given the quantity of increasingly frequent earthquakes everywhere, a tsunami of legendary proportions, and the release of way too many nuclear particles into the atmosphere!
Rudhyar states this degree is a technique for tapping the "essential realities of what Man (the Human Archetype) represents and signifies in the universal Order" to find "Root Knowledge" providing safe foundations for rebirth. Here old inertias and obsolete structures can be replaced with new patterns that will "lead us to the other shore."
This is a technical degree finalizing Virgo energies, where we see how to find essential knowledge that can help us discover and develop new productive life patterns. It falls in the Span of Experimentation, Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Education on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of "the world's conservatism, and of the refusal of nature to surrender any part of her heritage unnecessarily." Here "the fixity of ideas" of a culture protects its "hidden wisdom and unsuspected ways of knowing." Here we learn "deeper awareness is merely a broader reference or a further application of stabilities which constitute a universe at large."
He offers the keyword DISCOVERY. When positive it's said to be a degree of "imagination brought to the full of its powers through conscious effort."
So this is a degree of realigning our Consciousness with some primorial Truth, and finding forms of deeper wisdom and awareness through understanding a wider set of practical possibilities. Now that the wisdom-experiences of September-October 2009 and April-July 2010 have cooked for awhile, we can see how our "patient steady work and persisting aspiration" have yielded results. At this point, we have only to use our imagination to ground our understanding in a form of practical service.
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of an understanding of the relationship of the parts to the whole, the impermanent to the permanent, the dying to the enduring. These can lead us to a deeper and wider vision, expressing itself in forms that are practical techniques for demonstrating an enduring wisdom.
We can find illumination in being aware of how things are falling apart at the end of a major cycle, and in seeing what should be protected and perpetuated in the way of the promise of renewed Light/Life forms after a transitional period. This can take shape through "practical wisdom-idea experiments." These techniques transcend individual conditions and limitations, since they are grounded in an ageless wisdom that can take shape in infinite discoveries of greater powers of effectiveness.
How we focus the next two weeks will show us our ability to do "spectrum-analysis" so we can figure out what's disintegrating and how all factors relate to the greater Light. We can dissolve old ways and forms, and find "hidden wisdom," "unsuspected ways of knowing," and a new way to apply stabilizing factors however we are trained to do. Here the light of our accurate judgments serve to validate our discoveries and express as the power of "imagination brought to the full of its powers through conscious effort."
In Part 2 we'll cover the aspects, configurations, and which degree spans will be impacted by this "Super Full Moon." See you soon!

I am so hoping for validation. I need my heart and my head to get together and make sense of the past two years. What a ride!

This lunation's rising from my location is dead conjunct my natal Neptune - and I've been dreaming of a huge mass of clear water with people swimming in it. Something big was coming towards us under the water.

"heightened seesawing" . . . I'm getting that. Should I go or should I stay kind of thinking. Considering the commonality between the two. The service is the same wherever I am. So why the upheaval I ask? Perhaps a vacation would suffice.

Robert,
I don't understand this clearly, technicaly speaking.
"...these Lunations the Moon is at Lunar Perigee, meaning it's very close to the Earth in its orbit".
I thought that Lunar Perigee and Apogee are South and North Moon Nodes.
This lunation is far from South Node.
Can you help me with this. Am I wrong?
Thanks

I have my lilith 29´virgo conjunct this full moon - Robert can you please tell me what this can mean?
I´m also a scorpio rising 25, 41´.

Sun - pisces Ascendant - Aquarius
Moon - virgo
mercury - aries
venus - pisces
saturn - aquarius
To even begin extracting the ultimatum of the given sidereal complex, its affirmative in this resolute cause where we brashly seek a final remedy to our leperacy and monotony, putting the Book of Deuteronomy beneath the microscope a blatant error of ways can be sought, a solicitation of nature needless to say.

Hi jgrrl - Keep searching for the threads and you'll find your way to the whole.
Hi Aquila - I suspect you're picking up on something collective. Something big is already rolling through!
Hi caliban - Vacations are always a good thing. The trick is when we find ourselves seesawing to find and stay centered at the point of balance.
Hi yzse - Don't really want to go into astrophysics here, but the Nodes define the axis, not the distance from Earth. The Nodes are the points where the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic (which is the apparent path of the Sun across the heavens against the background stars).
Hi ull - I don't use Lilith since no one has ever come up with a positive interpretation for its qualities and how it fits into the celestial pantheon. I reject that any heavenly body is bad unto itself.
Hi JAXLINE - Incoherent.
