Venus just conjuncted Mars at 10 Taurus. What does this mean?
Well, whenever the forces of "love and war," beauty and strife, diplomacy and directness get together, it begins a whole new cycle wherever it falls in our charts. This conjunction fuses energies that rule our Aries, Taurus, Libra, and Scorpio houses, and marks a point where something begins to concretely manifest in whatever house we have early Taurus.
10 Taurus is a degree of consecration to a larger ideal or group work. Dr. Jones speaks of a spiritual service as "the greatest of all roads to self-realization." Here our concern for others' true needs becomes an opportunity to be identified with a larger Life, and thus become part of a universal experience which can expand whatever role we want to play in the future.
He offers us the keyword ENLISTMENT, and when positive, this degree is said be "a complete dedication of the self to the worth-while and enduring projects through which it can lose all sense of separativeness." Expect to be offered something you can "enlist" in that will show you the path to a larger life and effectiveness!
(Corrected from the original article) - One important conjunction they made was at 30 Pisces in late April 2009, and the next one will occur at 20 Aries in early April 2013. I originally overlooked the 2010 conjunctions, which I explain below. These two actually conjunct fairly frequently at times, and it would be interesting to observe how they shift focus and emphasis based on which houses they fall in. In any case, they directly fuses these planetary parts of our inner life in the area where the conjunction falls.
Of note is that this conjunction is quincunx to Saturn and quintile to Neptune. We'll all go through balancing adjustments regarding how we're living or not living our archetypal Self as shown by Saturn.
Growth areas are in forced growth, trusting our "body wisdom," transcending old duties and limitations through a form of mastery, and walking into a greater Life. As an aside, this directly relates to whatever was awakened in each and all of us between 2005-2007.
The more the effort, the greater the effect. The greater the persistence and determination while sensing the larger personal and collective need, the more concrete the results.
Be joyous as you juggle the baggage, be inventive, and tend to your garden. This conjunction will anchor a gentle persistent rewarding movement. What types of rewards will depend on how kind, calm, steady, dedicated, and selfless you can be.

Thanks Robert for this instalment which is as helpful as it is concise. I'm recalling that actually there have been two other Venus-Mars conjunctions in this round, at 14 Libra on August 20, 2010 and at 13 Scorpio on October 3, 2010, due to the Venus retrogression...

Hi Elizabeth - You're right, of course. That's what I get for writing this article in about 8 minutes and not doing "fact checking." Besides the ones I mentioned, there were other conjunctions at 16 Libra in September 2008, another one at 16 Taurus in June 2009, the one in Libra in August 2010, and the next one at 13 Scorpio in October 2010. So this is more frequent than I originally offered and really has no solid short cycle.

Is this conjunction related to the last five point star pattern of Venus?

Hi Deborah - Exactly what are you referring to? I need context.

As a new and young learner doesn't Venus make aspect every eight years to form a five point star pattern?
Posted by: Deborah | May 23, 2011 at 06:28 PM
Hi Deborah - Give me specific examples. The quick answer is probably not, since a great Quintile is very rare and involves more than just Venus.

Venus/Sun conj tracing a five pointed star pattern around the ecliptic, or am I thinking of something else?

2005-2007 forced growth . . . yes the work paid off, but yikes what an ordeal.

I work with dogs and am learning more about training them these days. It's amazing to watch how far they go, how smart they are. So rewarding-- at least for me it is! I love watching their amazingness unfold, and how happy they are with structure and a sense of accomplishment in their lives. Makes me feel all the more accomplished... and happy.

This is delightful & synchronistic news -as always :-)
Just getting organised for a major nutrition overhaul to assist health, so all looks grand given Dr Jones 'Enlistment'! Also so interested to read warriorlady's comment above as i'm taking a gradual step toward looking after others dogs on a one to one. Having done same for pals on holidays, found it a very rewarding experience Happy days :-)

Hi Robert: I see the Venus/Mars conjunction in Taurus as a fusing or anchoring of deep earth energy. The balancing of the divine male/female. Due to its placement in Taurus, wherever it falls in our charts, a very determined, solid and passionate emphasis.
Kind regards,
Pamela

Hi all - Thanks for checking in and offering your take on things.
Hi Deborah - Matt, a student of the craft, friend of the site, and all around good guy, gave me this answer for you:
"The reader was confusing different types of Venus cycles. The five-point star has to do with Venus retrograde; it has nothing to do with quintiles per se. More specifically, it has to do with the fact that Venus will retrograde 5 times every 8 years and the spans of retrograde form a shifting 5-point star (however, the points are not "lit up" sequentially). If you observe where Venus retrogrades every 8 years and compare it against the span where it retrograded 8 years prior, it shifts by a few degrees.
Additionally, without this shift, one of the following would have to be true: there would be a Transit of Venus every eight years or we would never experience a Transit of Venus. We have Transits of Venus in 2004 and 2012 because the inferior conjunctions occur (approximately) at the same place: at the intersection of the ecliptic and Venus' plane of orbit. However, when Venus retrogrades in 2020, it will be far enough away from this node and we won't observe a Transit of Venus. When the next series of transits occur in 120+ years time, the transits will occur at the other node of intersection which is observed in Sag."
If anyone else has something to add, by all means jump in....
