Part 1 covered many essential elements of this Leo New Moon. Today we'll discuss significant aspects, degree symbols, and other important factors in this month's Lunation chart which show us a new freedom of expression.
Since the past two New Moons were both Solar Eclipses, it's safe to say many things across the world are shutting down, especially those things connected to Gemini and Cancer energy forms. We've been challenged to a more authentic expression as we've shut down old limitations, roles, and duties. If we've done our purifications, the next 4 weeks will offer new vision, new creativity, new playfulness, a new sense of adventure, and hints of our immortal Self.
This Lunation, coupled with the inner planets, stretches out the spans occupied by planets so that the outer planet span between Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Taurus now includes Gemini, Leo, and Virgo. This closes the gap between Saturn and the others so that now we are living within what is called a "Splay" Jones pattern, with 8 of the 12 signs with a planets in it. This span shows us where the outer emphasis is in our lives, and what we're experiencing in our worldly realm.
The Splay usually has a triangle pattern inside of it, and this one features the Grand Earth Trine of Mercury in Virgo, Jupiter in Taurus, and Pluto in Capricorn. This will show as a very harmonized practical energy between the lower mind (Mercury), higher mind (Jupiter), and the ongoing Transformative seed power of Pluto.
This trine should help us weave stability, harmony, and understanding wherever we have the early degrees of the Earth signs in our charts, especially through seeing the seeds of long range stability in finances and values. We shall spot the seeds to nurture, as well as how to characterize people and situations by seeing their salient features. We shall definitely all be given a chance to know what is true vs what is not by knowing subtleties and the place and function of every detail calling our attention.
Over the past two months, the Solar Eclipses extended the span of signs occupied by the outer planets through Gemini and Cancer. So the occupied span stretched from Capricorn to Cancer, with Saturn in Libra as the nozzle for that pattern, which is termed a "Bucket." I've written a lot on it throughout past articles, so please check them out to know more.
Now, and for many months into the future, we will have either a Splay, See-Saw, or Locomotive configuration, depending on the positions of the inner planets and the Moon. That means Saturn will no longer be the nozzle focusing all the other planetary energies until Spring 2013, when the spans will be wide enough again for Saturn to become the nozzle. However, since it will be in Scorpio, we are now done with Saturn in Libra being the energy focusing all the other planetary energies.
It is useful to think of this as a time when all our experience begins with a Pluto in Capricorn type of energy, proceeds through Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, awakening into a Uranus in Aries experience, and then solidifies and envisions through Jupiter in early Taurus. This pattern will hold until Jupiter moves into Gemini.
At this time, the inner planets in Gemini, Leo, and Virgo "capture" Saturn in Libra, helping us complete the Capricorn through Taurus span of understanding and stabilization.
So the houses where we have Capricorn through Libra in our charts are active, with late Gemini, early Leo, and early Virgo also heavily accented due to the inner planets. The general theme is that we are still finishing what needs finishing before we can safely enter a new power and efficiency, and can find enormous clarity despite the gear grinds over the next 4 weeks. This can lead us to a more mature and structured peace in our lives, or being at peace, we can find a new spiritual authorship with profound depth knowledge of the seeds of future situations.
Remember that in reading a Lunation chart (as well as a horary, inceptional, electional, or any event chart) the forming aspects show things to come, while separating aspects show things already past. This New Moon and the inner planets in Gemini, Leo, and Virgo make several very important forming aspects.
The Lunation makes a forming novile to Mars, square to Jupiter, and sextile to Saturn. That implies that the Mars-activated endings (being the same degree as Mercury in the July Lunar Eclipse) that have been gestating for a while will finally come to pass. The squares to Jupiter will release those expansive energies requiring our genuine friendliness, detachment, focus, and purification of outmoded things.
Search for your place of greatest service, keep the initiative in your own hands, cultivate new forms of self-dramatization, and find a way to justify your highest self expression. Presume little, force nothing, and find ways to win others' cooperation without sacrificing your freedom to act as you need to.
Keep finding ways to integrate your feelings with your outer interests, don't get too spread out or play to exaggerated feelings, and find ways to organize your vision to achieve greater public things. Pay attention to small details, and don't let important matters slip, whether from pride, neglect, insecurity, nitpicky attitudes, put downs, lack of clarity about roles, or settling for lesser rewards when greater ones are at stake.
During the past month we've seen the end of old "drags on our line," and been offered opportunities to learn how to make basic personal decisions that help us integrate our sensitivities and sensibilities with our more important responsibilities to ourselves, our Souls, and our Truth-of-Being. Now we get rhythmic, imaginative productivity where we can use our independence in creative ways bringing beauty and nobility to our world.
Other important forming aspects made by the innermost planets include Mercury trine Jupiter and Pluto while novile Saturn, and Venus conjunct the Sun, decile Mars, square Jupiter, trine Uranus, and triseptile Pluto. The triseptile makes the Grand Irrationality a factor in this Lunation, so please consult previous articles to learn more about this configuration. Of note is that Venus now captures the Light/Life of the recent Sun triseptile both Neptune and Pluto.
The other very powerful aspects at work are Mars biseptile Saturn as it forms an out of sign trine to Neptune and opposition to Pluto, and a wide but very favorable Jupiter quintile Neptune. Thus Mars activates its own septile series energies, triggering the pattern I described in the last Full Moon in Cancer-Capricorn article.
This was related to the Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in June, as Mercury occupied the same degree then as Mars does now. When you're done here, please check out the Eclipse article via the link to know more about this "fork in the road of destiny" aspect between Mars and Saturn, since it would seem that destiny is again on the move wherever we have late Gemini and mid-Libra in our charts. (You can also bet that as Mars septiles Jupiter between July 31 and August 4, we'll see major developments related to this "other" non-rational span.)
I've described the Grand Earth trine earlier, which of course will be a great stabilizer and harmonizer between our Mutable sign houses, and should be a favorable influence for all born the end of February, end of April, end of June, end of August, end of October, and end of December. With so many other favorable aspects among the planets, all in all the next 4 weeks should be very inventive and creative, releasing a lot of heart energy despite the occasional meltdowns of our current era.
In this sense the Uranus square Pluto is still a major influence, but as each is harmonized by very favorable trines, at least there will be no misunderstanding about the what, why, and how of things. And it's entirely possible that very harmonious Uranus and Pluto spiritual transformational energies will be set into motion, helping us turn away from, or efficiently utilize, the very intense and volatile energies of the square.
Jupiter trine Pluto in this chart (and all year) shows a practical stability as we go deeper into unknown zones, core understanding, and profound insights into seed forms and structures. This will assist our practical imagination, our power to demonstrate skills in repetitive situations, and put the down times to good use. It's also a great time for purification to stabilize our inner and outer resources.
This will prove extraordinarily productive for those born late in the above-mentioned months. Also affected through unique circumstances and specialized abilities are those born mid-February, early March, mid-April, early July, mid-August, mid-September, mid-October, and mid-December.
It's worth mentioning again that it's especially important to remember that in this Lunation the Venus-Jupiter-Saturn septile series pattern of the past New Moon Eclipse in Cancer relates to the current Mars biseptile Saturn. This activates the Venusian energies of the past New Moon in Cancer, so it will affect all our charts in Venus, Jupiter, and Pluto ruled and occupied areas.
Relationships have been and continue to be at critical forks in the road, opportunities and truths are at critical forks in the road, and the deep transformational process beckons us all to heed a new law. As I mentioned in the Eclipse article, the areas of our charts most affected are 4-6 Taurus, 26-28 Gemini, 18-20 Leo, 10-12 Libra, 1-3 Sagittarius, 22-24 Capricorn, and 13-15 Pisces.
Due to it being set into motion by the Eclipse, that makes every transit through these zones for the next 17 months significant. As I noted in the article, expect developments in mid-July, end of July, second week of August, end of August, late September and early October, and especially through mid-November 2011. By February 2012 many decisions will have been made about how our Venus, Jupiter, and Pluto are functioning, and much will be understood in very plain ways.
Saturn is now direct and moving out of range to the opposition to Uranus and square to Pluto. While I'm sure it's a great relief to all, we're still learning to navigate the years' long global upheaval indicated by Uranus square Pluto.
The separating aspects show reality already experienced, or things already set into motion. That's why now that Saturn is again separating from the Cardinal T-square it will lessen the intensity of some things already fractured up to now. Also, though separating from their sextile and beginning a wide quintile, Jupiter will continue to be favorable to Neptune all year, fostering opportunities to commune with collective consciousness.
Other separating aspects of note include Moon conjunct Venus, trine Uranus, triseptile Neptune and quincunx Pluto, Mercury sextile Mars and opposition Neptune, Venus quintile Saturn triseptile Pluto, Sun trine Uranus and triseptile Neptune, and Jupiter triseptile Saturn. Together these indicate a recent period of high productivity, understanding, change, and social gifts and unique circumstances.
The waves of activity set into motion between the first Mercury conjunct Jupiter in mid-March through the final Venus and Mercury conjunct Jupiter on May 11-12 continue to take solid shape in sustainable ways, with long term expansions to come during the last half of 2011 and first few months of 2012.
A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This New Moon falls at 8 Leo. While I've given you a sense of this degree up to now, this is where we go into depth. According to Rudhyar this degree is one of "Revolution," and the "Leavening of the inchoate materials of a new order by a forceful vision born of repression and misfortune."
He goes on to state that this degree is about "the emotional and ideological attempt to return to a state of non-differentiation and chaos as a prelude to a new type of order." Here we see "the activity of destructive or catabolic forces" confronting an old order so a new one can come forth, breeding revolutionary energies.
It is inferred that this is a degree that induces a form of chaos through spreading an idea with social passion that stirs people up. So we can expect a struggle of some sort between life orders and/or ideas, where "catabolic action" is in the air. It is also stated that there could be a healing "between an obsolete Establishment and its youthful challengers" through a "vision of cosmic order."
This is a synthesizing degree where we bring together the transitory and the permanent, the social with the spiritual/eternal. This can lead us to a new form of creative intensity that eventually will let us know we've "made it through the night." Rudhyar says it falls in the span of Assurance, the Process of Individualization, Act of Stabilization, and the Scene of Combustion on the Emotional-Cultural level.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, we find the Solar Eclipse Lunation degree is "A Bolshevik propagandist." He says this is a symbol of "the indomitable expectation of the human spirit as it gathers strength from the innermost reaches of (our) own and enduring nature" in battles about "social and political concepts."
He states this "selfless energy" is "developed to an extreme by the revolutionists of each new age," where the "need of the human community for a worthy cause" may rally to its potential. He offers us the keyword LEAVEN, and says that when positive, this degree "is a determination to share the soul's vision and to make a permanent impact on history."
So over the next 4 weeks this Lunation will help us leaven the substance of a new life order into revolutionary forms that challenge an old life order. Expect the meltdowns to continue, showing us our independence and freedom from an old fate. The battles we must do will show us, through self-examination, our greater desires for participating in more important avenues of self expression. Here our Soul will modify its self-expression through decisions where we mobilize our ambition according to our own standards.
Of the planets that rule signs, there are 4 planets in Fire signs, 3 in Earth, 2 in Air, and 1 in Water. This preponderance of Fire and Earth indicates a lot of inspiration and practical activity as Mercury prepares to go retrograde on August 2-3.
The insufficiency of Air and Water indicates not much mental, communicative, relational and interactive energy, as well as a dearth of feelings. This time is one of getting inspired in practical ways, and not worrying much about the relationships that have ended or are ending. Generate what forms of caring you can, though they'll probably be more passionate than usual.
Pluto in Capricorn continues to teach us deep lessons about practical, organized economy of energy and efficiency in sprouting seed forms of the new "laws of our lives" we can relax into. Be organized in finding and demonstrating your role and take some time to enjoy it! Also, through the harmonious trine from Jupiter these next 8+ months keeping the Earth energies of this Eclipse front and center, we can safely purify what needs purifying and be leaner and more solidly able to rely on our material and non-material resources.
In the past months we've learned how to make many types of adjustments in perspective and how we relate to create a better world for ourselves in connection with others. Now that we're riding the waves of the new archetypal roles we began to live in 2009-2010, we can use gentle and balanced forms of will power, training, maturity, and sense of our new roles to play to move into new vistas, new worlds, new lives, and new ways of doing our Being.
The next 4 weeks is a time to let go of the past in practical steady ways. Thanks to the recent Solar Eclipses, we are still being liberated from the ghosts of the past and letting go of burdens we no longer need to bear. Having found what we've been looking for and opened to new ways of doing our Being, we can be more natural in our search for deeper insights into meaning and processes as we reach out to new and more complex vistas of potential interactions.
Due to the Jupiter in Taurus influence that will be with us for about a year, keep finding gentle, simple, and stable ways to move into your new life while becoming part of the "corrective force of Nature Herself." In practicing our unique individuality we can become the answer to some collective need, whether large or small. This is the time to define who you are apart from any inner or outer neutralizing factors that keep you from awakening to your uniqueness.
Due to recent larger influences, we continue to have chances to adjust our perspective and become more natural and joyous. Over the past several weeks we've all gotten at least one new look at old ideas and ways of coordinating our lives on our terms. We now can have more confidence in simply "being ourselves" as we allow the ageless Divine Wisdom to act through us, and can leave behind old ideas and memories that kept us split internally.
This period is showing us the baseline platform for the further extension into our emergent archetypes that demonstrate our authentic self. We saw the emergence of concrete forms of those images from August 2010 to January 2011, and now that we've done the review related to past and present actions creating present and future consequences, we're moving into the next phase of our quest.
Here we continue to secure conditions, values, and resources while hitting a fork in the road between our past and future relationships, truths, philosophies, and our understanding of core principles regarding the use of power and how primal patterns replicate themselves. As with June's Eclipses, here we can continue to find a sense of balanced peacefulness by knowing what is no longer a part of our life, and liquidating whatever parts of our past would hinder our entrance into new realms of development.
Keep feeling your way to decisions and actions, and then go get new information, new understanding, and new views of what's possible in the future that helps you separate from the past. Update your information files, your sense of what's important and how to get there.
Here we can learn how to generate hope, happiness, and contentment where there are none, and dedicate ourselves to our own well being as well as the well being of those we care about. Release old burdens and pressures, and play a little more, engaging your creativity in imaginative playful forms. Even though much is melting down, we don't have to be gloomy, histrionic, unclear, uncertain, or stubborn.
Here we clear the decks to continue to secure what we need to establish future potentials already in motion. There are truths, goodness, and beauty promised by this New Moon, all of which will show us how to further express the new beginnings of March through May 2011. Open your imagination to a greater quest, greater adventure, greater Truths, and be discriminating in how you ground these in practical ways.
All in all, a very favorable Lunation for most. Curb extravagance and excess while being clear about the order of things. While a delay is in the near future, so are "liberating ordeals" which will bring deep compassion up from within so we may release what we need to in order to find gifts and inner powers.

Most excellent. I'm dazed. I have been experiencing random acts of smiling. I am not accustomed to being on the receiving end, at least not for a very long time anyway. I'm not kidding. It's been happening like cracks of light in the dark night. It must be my go ahead to smile out loud again?
