This Full Moon will bring us techniques of listening to the Voice of the Silence so that we can let go of ego limitations. Here we learn to share "the wisdom of the body," and see glimpses of our "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow."
Today's article will cover rising signs around the globe, an overview of the Lunation, and the Sabian Symbols. Part 2 will cover the aspects, configurations and patterns, and which signs are most likely to be affected by where this falls in their charts.
A brief overview: the period ruled by this Full Moon will illuminate our faith while confirming values of greater worth. We will find knowledge worth sharing, though it may be found more in our self-awareness than books or our relationships. Much of what was scattered before now can be seen to share a common base, both in our active practices as well as the transformational ideals we share with others. Many will turn their backs to whatever has inhibited their natural self-expression, due to trusting their instincts rather than rely on mental constructs.
Now on to the rising signs around the world. This Full Moon, helping us to greater effectiveness through acting on a higher knowledge we'll sense focused through a spontaneity arising from leaving behind old interpretations about "good and bad," occurs November 10 at 12:16 pm PST, 3:16 pm EST, and 8:16 pm Greenwich (November 11 in Afghanistan and points east.)
The Lunation finds 11 Aquarius rising in Santa Monica, 22 Capricorn rising in Vancouver, 8 Aries rising in Toronto, 12 Aries in Washington DC, 7 Taurus in Rio, 22 Cancer in London, 27 Cancer in Amsterdam, 3 Leo in Berlin, 16 Leo in Tallinn, 4 Leo in Sofia, 5 Leo in Cairo, and 9 Cancer in Johannesburg.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 11 Virgo in Abbotabad (Nov 11), 14 Virgo in New Delhi, 11 Virgo in Trivandrum, 5 Libra in Bangkok, 17 Libra in Hong Kong, 6 Scorpio in Tokyo, 29 Libra in Perth, 9 Sagittarius in Melbourne, 11 Sagittarius in Brisbane, 10 Capricorn in Wellington, and 8 Capricorn rising on Maui (Nov 10).
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out New Moon in Scorpio Pt. 1 - What's Happening in November 2011. Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. Places where the Lunation is near the angles and activating energies powerfully are the west coast of North America, Rio, Eastern Europe through the Middle East down the east coast of Africa, Japan, and Western Australia.
As we are still under the influence of both the July 2010 Solar Eclipse in Cancer, the January 2011 Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, the recent powerful June 1 Solar Eclipse in Gemini, AND the July 1 Cancer Solar Eclipse, you may also want to review the numerous articles in the archives concerning those long term influences. As several planets in this chart harmonize, reconcile, or stabilize previously activated Eclipse points, many long term issues and endings can be understood from retrospective approaches.
Full Moons heighten feelings, given the opposition of the Moon with the Sun. This is heightened if there are other oppositions, and in this Lunation we find only one other, and that's separating. That would indicated the sense of polarization will be very weak, allowing the Moon to focus the light of the Sun without interfering oppositional energy from any other polarity.
As I mentioned, we're still being very much influenced in life-altering ways by the very powerful New Moon Solar Eclipse of June 1. That fell in the Gemini zone of the Grand Irrationality, and so over the past 4 months many strange and "destiny-producing" events have quickened to warp speed, throwing us all in major new directions.
As that Eclipse will be in force for several years, you can expect the effects to continue for quite a while. The whole world is at a critical turning point where we must find compassionate ways to link with others to assist the whole to survive through a rough patch.
This is the fourteenth Full Moon Sun that falls in the same sign as the previous New Moon, continuing to offer us a consistent (and "natural") way of experiencing the New Moon-Full Moon sequence. We had Full Moon Suns in different signs than the previous New Moon from July 2009 through September 2010. We'll have the current sequences of the New Moon Sun being in the same sign as the next Full Moon Sun through May 2012, after which it will again reverse function and the Full Moon Sun will be the same as the following New Moon Sun.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepare the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So at present the New Moon-Full Moon cycle is "normal," in the sense that now we have the illuminated form shown to us at the New Moon which is fulfilled by the light of the same sign at the subsequent Full Moon. The New Moons will all fall in the first half of their signs and the Full Moons will all fall in the last half of their signs from now through May 2012. Seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half makes some kind of sense.
This Full Moon falls at 19 Taurus-Scorpio. It is said that the second third (decan) of any sign deals with the emotional, social, and cultural levels of life, and being the penultimate degree of the second decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Virgo and Pisces.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take.
The Solar degree symbol for the 19th degree of Scorpio is "A parrot listening and then talking." Rudhyar says this is a degree of "Dependence upon inner or outer environment for the substance of understanding," "Transmission of knowledge," and "Channel-ship."
In the Mandala he goes on to say this is a degree of "the capacity to transmit transcendental knowledge," where those who live "in a state of ardent and sustained faith" can become channels to bring forth a higher or transcendent knowledge or wisdom. He states that "the mind that has learned to be silent and attentive can become attuned" to higher information and "superhuman realizations," but also that "discrimination is needed here to balance the overeagerness of faith."
So this seems to be a technique of "learning from higher intelligences," or at least the ability to bring forth greater knowledge beyond our mundane thoughts. He says this degree falls in the Span of Appreciation, Act of Group Integration, and Scene of Faith on the Actional level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of "the raw substance of intelligence" which helps us shape the existence we desire. He speaks of sensitivity to an ideal and/or imaginative "continual reworking of reality," where we can select or reject elements of life.
He goes on to say that this allows us to project the image in which we create ourselves. He offers the keyword CONVENTIONALITY, and states that when operating positively, the degree is "exceptional skill in bringing the whole tenor of transient circumstances to the service of a personal aspiration."
The Lunar degree symbol for the 19th degree of Taurus is "A newly formed continent." Rudhyar says this is a degree of "potentiality for tangible self-manifestation in all beings," "overflowing originality," and "spontaneous, rich creative urge."
He goes on to say in the Mandala that this degree involves "the surge of new potentiality after the crisis." He states that once we've purified the perceptual mind of "attachment and contaminations," a "new release of life" can emerge spontaneously out of the infinite potential of the moment.
We are told that this is how to approach and confirm a new phase of life by allowing "the infinite Potential to operate in unconstrained spontaneity" by getting to a place where our rational ego no longer controls what comes forth. He says this degree falls in the Span of Enjoyment, Act of Differentiation, and Scene of Confirmation on the Actional level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of "the raw substance of existence," where "experience may shape its own ground in full conformity with its desires." He states that through successive cycles we can become aware or "the constant reworking of all reality," and reestablish ourselves continuously according to "each new realization of (our) powers" and life opportunities.
With this degree, we are shown how to reshape our lives through reworking our reality across larger cycles of change. He offers us the keyword ORIGINALITY, and states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is "a revolutionary potentiality by which each individual is enabled to remodel the entire face of the universe."
From these symbols it seems we can see the light or hear the voice of a higher awareness (which we may or may not comprehend) to understand how inner or outer environment conditions comprehension. Illumination is found through quieting the mind so it can attune to higher knowledge, getting out of our own way so we can know what previously was beyond our understanding.
These will express through a new non-ego structured spontaneity that allows our creativity or originality to come forth. The Lunar degree indicates that the form of the Light will involve shaping our future on our own terms freed from the mental contaminations of the past through a realization of larger cycles at work. This degree revolutionizes forms!
On a final note, this is the Full Moon that expresses in some way the promise we experienced at the second of the "Three High Moons" of Spring (in the Northern Hemisphere). This Full Moon externalizes the energies of the Spring Wesak Festival Full Moon of Taurus-Scorpio.
The 3 High Moons began with the Full Moon of Aries-Libra, progressed through the Wesak Festival Full Moon of Taurus-Scorpio, and fulfilled the triple pulse at the Christ Fest Full Moon of Gemini-Sagittarius, which also happened to be a very powerful Lunar Eclipse. In the Northern Hemisphere, the first renews the life force for the year, the second brings a new outpouring of the "Cosmic Buddha Nature" that brings all a renewal of the qualities that Sage brought to humanity to lessen suffering for all sentient Beings, and the third is where the World Teacher takes that "wisdom form" and distributes it to the Earth as the Teaching for the year.
I would infer that in the Southern Hemisphere, the Full Moon of Aries-Libra initiates an energy that is concentrated at the Full Moon of Taurus-Scorpio and is distributed at the Full Moon of Gemini-Sagittarius, but perhaps these energies may express in outer forms in the subsequent Spring Full Moons of Libra-Aries, Scorpio-Taurus, and Sagittarius-Gemini. Again, the energies of the elements and modes of the signs work consistently whether in the Northern or Southern Hemispheres, but bring forth different and parallel manifestations in the natural world.
If you're interested in the lessons released by the 3 High Moons for 2011, please refer to the many articles written about these Full Moons that are in the recent archives. They're truly worth a new look.
In Part 2 we'll cover the aspects, configurations, and which degree spans will be impacted by this Full Moon. See you soon!
