Astrology in December 2011 - If You're Wondering Why Things Are So Strange

Long time readers know I coined the term "Grand Irrationality" for the generic weirdness and hard-edged craziness coming down during this point in our larger time frame. However, that's not the only irrational energy going on.

Things are very edgy right now due to a multiplicity of reasons. As I've mentioned in many previous commentaries, The Grand Irrationality is in action.

A long wave hard edged energy of choice and change, it's triggered at least 21 times a year by the inner planets, and additionally triggered seven times a month by the Moon and at least seven times a day due to the movement of the Ascendant. This is true wherever in the world we are.

Anchored by Neptune and Pluto in a long wave septile, the 7 critical spans at this time are 6-9 Capricorn, 28 Aquarius-1 Pisces, 19-22 Aries, 11-14 Gemini, 2-5 Leo, 23-26 Virgo, and 14-17 Scorpio. As Venus just conjuncted Pluto and septiled Neptune, the Grand Irrationality has been in major play via Venusian ruled events and people the past several days, and will be today and tomorrow.

If you have planets or points near these spans I'm sure your life makes little or no sense right now, and you're confronting some major forks in the road of your destiny. This cuts across generations and subgenerations, and is forcing many to make critical choices to determine what their destiny will be, and what they can no longer endure. It may show as an obsession or compulsion, ours or another's, or an irrational event, idea, or realization that forces us to make choices that will alter our future.

Along with the Grand Irrationality, there is also another major league irrational aspect being made between two of the celestial heavyweights, Saturn and Uranus, which will be in play for quite some time. At present they're making a triseptile, and therefore anchoring their own set of sever irrational zones of influence. I spoke of this influence a while ago when it was being triggered in a particularly significant way in the article November 2011 - The Astrology of Destiny Is On The Move This Week!

Though their positions have shifted slightly, these seven zones of irrational behavior, activity, and experience are in play right now, and even though they are beginning to move out of exact aspect, will stay in play for quite a while, since Saturn will be slowing as Uranus will be speeding up over the next several weeks. For early December these other zones of hard-edged choices and changes in our Saturn and Uranus sectors are 25-27 Libra, 17-19 Sagittarius, 9-11 Aquarius, 1-3 Aries, 22-24 Taurus, 13-15 Cancer, and 4-6 Virgo.

About a week ago, Mars moved through the Virgo zone, septiling Saturn and triseptile Uranus, and during the past few days, Mercury retrograde just septiled Saturn and biseptiled Uranus, adding a Mercurial energy to the Saturn and Uranus choices and changes. As with the Grand Irrationality, expect significant event to occur when the Moon moves through any of the seven zones associated with this pattern. As the Moon will be conjunct Uranus and triseptile Saturn Dec 3-4, keep your eyes open to events that could shift destiny!

Also, about a week from now the Sun will septile Saturn and biseptile Uranus, and since part of that time the Moon moves through late Taurus, that should also be a time when things are decided, set into motion, and the die is cast. As you can see, The Moon sets off both patterns every few days, and about a day after it sets off the Saturn-Uranus pattern, it triggers the Grand Irrationality, as those zones are only about 18-21 degrees later.

So if you're worried that things don't make much sense right now, they don't have to. If you're wondering why some things seem more urgent than before, or why people are behaving somewhat irrationally, compulsively, or argue positions that make no sense, chalk it up to one or both of the non-rational configurations pretty much in constant motion these days.

All of this is pressing us as individuals and societies as a whole toward a collision course with destiny, whether it makes sense or not. It's why things have become so intense all over the world, and some very weird events are coming down, and even weirder human behavior. Whether in the political, economic, social justice, or day to day world of individuals and groups, things are definitely heating up! (Add the current Sun square Mars, and you have a fairly volatile soup!!)

And remember that just because some things have happened, it doesn't mean that other things won't follow. With Mercury retrograde, many things won't turn out as it seems, so hang loose a little and ride the wave, adjusting your balance and view as needed. You can bet that even more changes will be happening in short order.

My destiny seems to be constantly shifting so decided to surrender to the inevitable. No energy to fight this, so riding the tsunami!Sun at 17 Scorpio,True Node 23 Taurus in 4th House, close to My IC it seems, while Moon at 17 Libra (Saturn!!) Would greatly appreciate a quick word if its important!

Some things are weird, but not difficult, but taking that, my life has always been a bit on the weird side, so I am kind of used to this stuff, so I just feel like it is pretty normal, hilarious really.... I have only that point on my ic and my venus and then on my saturn in the 7th house.... Hmmmm

Anyway, the earth decided to shake a bit again. It was a 5 ~ Japanese scale. So not so strong and normal for Japan. But it always keeps me on my toes. I am working very hard on learning on staying away from being fearful Learning to stay calm...

I do have acute bronchitis. Hmm Well, I am on a course of antibiotics now. Should be fine soon enough. I had a cold for two months.

Otherwise, my life is pretty darn good despite all the crazy stuff that is going on in the world. I count myself lucky. That I have a home, food on my table, a great support system.

That the weirdness touches natal uranus and natal ic, probably explains why everything seems normal to me.
