This article covers significant aspects, degree symbols, and other important factors in this month's Aquarius New Moon chart which will continue to stabilize our practical affairs as we renounce old roles and move into greater stability. We're all going to find new standards, new understanding, and be electrified by a "cosmic visitation!"
This Lunation, like the last one, falls within the "anchoring" occupied span of degrees running between Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Taurus. While Saturn and Mars in Virgo are outside the occupied area, taken as a whole it shows that about 2/3 of the zodiac is in play with an unoccupied span running between Jupiter at 2 Taurus and Mars at 24 Virgo. The 218 degree span that starts with Mars moving to Saturn in Libra and then through planets in Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, and Taurus shows a "whole span" indicating where the outer emphasis is in our lives, and what we're experiencing in our worldly realm. We're all initiating action through a Virgo lens and closing through Taurus energy wherever this occupied span falls in the houses of our birth charts. This pattern will hold through Spring 2012.
That makes this chart a "Locomotive" Jones Pattern, with Mercury still leading the Lunation. Therefore the house transiting Mercury occupies in our birth charts is extra important as an energy leading the focus of this New Moon.
Overall, this chart shows a good spread of planets in signs, showing that though things may seem out of balance, in fact there is a lot of power available across many types of experience. The general theme is that due to two very powerful Earth trines and a very powerful Air trine, we can be educated by practical and efficient actions over the next 4 weeks, leading us to a new sense of our connection to allies, ideas, and a better set of life standards. Find balanced perspectives that help you come to philosophical completions, and continue to organize your efforts in ways that help you to secure your future and ensure the outcomes you desire.
Remember that in reading a Lunation chart (as well as a horary, inceptional, electional, or any event chart) the forming aspects show things to come, while separating aspects show things already past. This New Moon makes only one forming minor aspect, while the other planets, especially Mercury, make quite a few important forming aspects.
The only forming aspect the Lunation makes is a decile, or semi-quintile to Venus, showing that this is a time of partially developed unique gifts and conditions that will help us value the new paths we awakened to in June 2005 and been walking ever since. Those introduced us to new realms of Soul-infused activity, and we had to walk on into the Sanctuary where we were tested. The next 4 weeks helps us value those developments from a long range perspective.
All the other aspects to or from this New Moon are separating. As a "stand-alone" New Moon with no major aspects, the theme of the degree is most important. However, this Lunation will definitely impact areas of our lives related to where we have 1-5 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, and give some special gifts and conditions to any planets we have around 15 Aries, 21 Taurus, 15 Libra, and 21 Scorpio over the next few weeks.
As I said, Mercury makes quite a few forming aspects including a semisquare to Venus, trine to Mars, square to Saturn, and decile to Neptune. Other important forming aspects made by other planets include Venus novile Sun and widely opposed to Mars, Jupiter trine Pluto, Saturn triseptile Uranus, trine Neptune, and quintile Pluto, and the lurking Uranus square Pluto.
The two strong trines between Jupiter-Pluto and Saturn-Neptune are long term influences, and very harmonizing to those with planets in late Aries, early Taurus, late Gemini, early Cancer, late Leo, early Virgo, late Libra, early Scorpio, late Sagittarius, early Capricorn, late Aquarius, and early Pisces. It's time to show what you know and set things into motion, though with Mars stationary retrograde, it make take a little longer than you'd like!!
As noted in other articles, Saturn triseptile Uranus continues to anchor a long term irrational "destiny producing" activation involving how we can take responsibility for our individualization into a new life. This one is showing us choices where we will determine our destiny for a long time to come. You can find out more by going to Astrology in December 2011 - If You're Wondering Why Things Are So Strange. This creates hot zones of activity a couple of degrees to either side of (approximately) 1-3 Aries, 23-25 Taurus, 15-17 Cancer, 6-8 Virgo, 28-30 Libra, 19-21 Sagittarius, and 10-12 Aquarius. If you have a planet or point near these zones, you've been under long term pressure off and on for months and shaping how your Uranian function will revolutionize your Saturn structures, and how your Saturn function will organize your emergent individuality (indicated wherever Uranus is transiting in your chart.)
Overall, due to the strong Saturn in Libra trine Neptune in Aquarius there will be many understandings that harmonize a greater vision and ideal the next 4 weeks, and in most cases these will lead to seeing a more perfect life standard to aspire to. This time will continue to open the adventure I spoke of last month, "with release from burdens and new songs to be sung, new ways of seeing what's important and why, and new dance steps to be taken."
The separating aspects show reality already experienced, or things already set into motion. Aspects of note are the Lunation square Jupiter, square Saturn, and sextile Uranus, Mercury quintile Uranus, Venus septile Jupiter and sextile Pluto, Mars biquintile Jupiter, opposition Uranus, and triseptile Neptune, and Jupiter opposed Saturn.
These symbolize recent events, so to the degree you understand the aspects, symbols, and their meaning, you may glimpse some factors behind what's happened in the recent past. From one angle, we've been looking for our place of greater service, let go of lesser duties and limitations, and found what we care about and a new heart strength to execute it. Recent unique insights put us at forks in the road of our relationships so we could make them more productive. It's definitely been a time of changing ideals for many.
A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This New Moon falls at 3 Aquarius, "A deserter from the navy." While I've given you a sense of this degree up to now, this is where we go into depth. According to Rudhyar this degree is one of the "ability to regrasp past experience and turn it to account," "sharp discrimination," "awakened new fearlessness," and "decision."
In the Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves "the individual's self-realization through a crucial repudiation of a collective status which has become unbearable." Here we refuse to accept certain cultural patterns that originated in the collective which have become unbearable. It is said with this degree we not only refuse to "obey orders," but actually "turn out backs on our collective social status," and "individualize our consciousness."
He states "something with collective social value is being potentially destroyed... the individual steps outside of bondage to collective patterns and ideals," and through this "renunciation of a social birthright" embrace a "process of desocialization." we are told it falls in the span of "Defensiveness," and it's the third degree of the actional level of the scene of Contribution in the Act of Capitalization. So for the next 4 weeks this Lunation will teach us how to synthesize our ideals of a greater group work by stepping out of old roles and reclaiming our individuality.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is "a symbol of human independence carried to a point of extreme rebellion against things as they are," with a "disregard of all consequences for the sake of an immediate liberation of the spirit." He states this is about "a more rewarding expression of individuality," and that we better accept "full and personal responsibility for life." He says that "except as man creates his own allegiances, his destiny holds no depth."
He offers us the keyword of DEFIANCE. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this is a degree of "genuine psychological courage in a repudiation of all meaningless loyalties."
So we enter a time of leaving behind old roles, old limitations, old duties, and old loyalties where we can step outside of old ways of life and reorient toward a more genuine set of loyalties and roles. Here we can act on and of our own authority to leave behind what we want and claim what we want regarding our larger group work and individual responsibility. Here we can do what we need to turn away from a false life, false dedications, and false relationships so that we can do our thing on our own terms with courage that at the very least we're reclaiming something genuine.
Of the planets that rule signs, there are 4 planets in Air signs, 4 in Earth, 1 in Fire, and 1 in Water. This preponderance of Earth indicates a lot of solid and stabilizing practical activity, and the preponderance of Air indicates great interactions and understanding. With a lack of planets in Fire and Water, there may be a lack of feeling or inspiration in the atmosphere.
Find inner sources of inspiration, as well as ways to generate feelings of caring and experience. Use your skills to externalize these feelings the best you're able. Just don't expect much to be in the situations you encounter. Even when they seem to be there, it'll probably be more about practical things and ideas than true feeling connections. But there will be some great connections, great understanding, great practicality, and slow steady expanding opportunities to secure conditions.
Pluto in Capricorn continues to teach us deep lessons about practical, organized economy of energy and efficiency in sprouting seed forms of the new "laws of our lives" we can relax into. Be organized in finding and demonstrating your role and take some time to enjoy it! Also, through the harmonious trine from Jupiter about to begin forming again, we can safely purify what needs purifying and be leaner and more solidly able to rely on our material and non-material resources.
In the past months we've learned how to make many types of adjustments in perspective and how we relate to create a better world for ourselves in connection with others. Now that we're riding the waves of the new archetypal roles we began to live in 2009-2010, we can use gentle and balanced forms of will power, training, maturity, and sense of our new roles to play to move into new vistas, new worlds, new lives, and new ways of doing our Being.
The next 4 weeks is a time to fulfill your understanding of things, and see clearly what needs repair or reconstruction. We can all understand the need for new standards to admire and newer, more "perfect" ways to secure a better life. Keep establishing new connections, new emergent possibilities, and let go of any lurking ambivalence as you stand at yet another "portal of initiation." Here we are reintroduced to a whole new way to do our Being which involves walking on into the unknown. While some of this may seem like an ordeal, it's the logical result of what you claimed in 2005 that set up the new initiatives of 2010-2011.
Keep attuning to the invisible world, open to the larger field of light/life we all share, and find humor in a lot of the changes. The atmosphere may be "cool and dry," but there will also be some form of "cosmic visitation" that can electrify our lives and leave us in awe of how perfect Spirit works its magic. Take care of details, work or rework the plan, see what fits where, and renounce old roles while searching for a new effectiveness in your world. Find a fresh point of view uncontaminated by social or mental preconceptions, and allow your imagination to be guided by Spirit into a "vibrant simplicity."
As I've discussed, due to the effect of the very strong Gemini Solar Eclipse of June 2011 and the equally strong recent Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius, we are still being liberated from the ghosts of the past and letting go of burdens we no longer need to bear. Having found what we've been looking for and opened to new ways of doing our Being, we can be more natural in our search for deeper insights into meaning and processes as we reach out to new and more complex vistas of potential interactions. Links at the bottom of this article.
Jupiter in Taurus counsels that we need patience and the ability to keep finding gentle, simple, and stable ways to move into your new life while becoming part of the "corrective force of Nature Herself." In practicing our unique individuality we can become the answer to some collective need, whether large or small.
This is the time to define who you are apart from any inner or outer neutralizing factors that keep you from awakening to your uniqueness. Because of the Earth trines, tenderness will work wonders, whether when dealing with our own stuff or dealing with another.
Now that Mercury, Uranus, and Jupiter have all gone direct in the past few weeks, life areas ruled by these "lights" are moving forward. In late 2011, we got a new look at what we could become, and now can move it into the future through positive practical actions. We've "imitated new ways of doing our Being," and can now allow the ageless Divine Wisdom to act through us while we leave behind old ideas and memories that kept us split internally. Here we continue to secure conditions, values, and resources while seeing the need to leave old roles behind.
Keep finding clear visions, information, and communications, and then figure out how to act to make those real or relevant to your emergent life. Find what your mind thinks it needs to make clear decisions, follow through in practical actions, and then feel what must be felt, experience what must be experienced, and get clear about what you're feeling so that you can find even newer views and understanding.
So get new information, new understanding, and new views of what's possible in the future that helps you separate from the past. Then do what must be done with decisiveness so you can experience your emergent life with new feelings. Venus in Pisces with Jupiter in Taurus can make our lives much more tender and compassionate, so take the chance to feel deeper than before now, and you could become more universal and non-separate in the process.
Mars and Saturn are both on the threshold of going stationary retrograde. Saturn will retrace the final 8 degrees of Libra, so the next few months we'll be taking a new look at lessons we've been moving into since October. Mars will move back to early Virgo, so expect slowdowns and returns or renewals wherever you have Virgo, Aries, and Scorpio.
There are hard turns coming through easy understanding, so keep it simple, accept rewards when offered, see the broader context of your mission, and promote efficiency. This time can help us "cut to the chase," see the openings resulting from the "liberating ordeals" of August 2011, and be our "sculptor self."
Curb pessimism, think outside the box, and cultivate your spiritual rapport with others. If appropriate, study, read, and write, or at the very least, get a grip on your mind and speech, but without rigidity or narrow thoughts dominating the process.
Follow through, remember that some limitations are more boon than bondage since they help us focus our potency, exchange ideas to further fellowships, and figure out what you really venerate rather than the old social roles that squashed your individuality. There is a tremendous liberation and new ways of being an individual promised by this Lunation, so think, decide, and then feel with an eye to getting in shape for the stable harmonious future to come that's been promised by what we've cared for this past Autumn.
We've been through two "cosmic visitations" and two revelations of a new way of being that renders our old patterns obsolete. Welcome to the third "cosmic visitation" that will complete your understanding of the larger rhythms swirling around us. More rewards and harvests to come through mid-March!

Robert, Thank you for sharing the symbol meanings by Rudhyar and Jones For 3 Aquarius- I cannot tell you how encouraged I am now to put it all together. My natal Jupiter in at 3 Aquarius-7th house (a planet central to my soul purpose formula no less) and is BiSeptile my natal Uranus rx in Libra-3rd house. With this the transit of Uranus in Aries- 9th house and the New Moon touching my Jupiter, I can now make sense of dreams I've been given and the strange flow of events of the last several months. The themes of Freedom, Defiance, and Rebellion are all touching my life at its very core right now. But my dreams have shown me how I would need to "hold on tightly", stay the course, it will take courage, work on developing a deeper faith, it is part of the plan, and it will become possible to "dance in synchrony", much easier, so just believe. I was feeling so guilty for going against the grain, for being so "disobedient", but inwardly I felt I as though I was doing what must be done at this place in my journey. I have greater hope even now as I walk up slowly from the valley. This article confirms much for me, and so I hope it touches someone else too. Thank you, thank you Robert for putting this all together!!!!

Thank you Robert, what you have written here resonates so strongly with me. I have felt the more my passion and understandings have grown so the huge rubber band on this catupult I seem to be on pulls back, I simply know at the heart level it will fling me forward such a long way when it releases, that all that seemed to others like I was going backwards, will be surpassed and i will be free to serve as i was intended. I am already able to feel it is so worth the trials and tribulations, the working through the grief and standing firm when old world ways threatened to destroy all and in fact, the life I had lived did die, may it rest now in peace. I do feel new, ready to start my new life, my way as the opportunities supported by my intuition are given. NAMASTE
