Over the next few days, the Sun will septile Neptune and biseptile Pluto, setting the Grand Irrationality into motion. Expect heavy turning points related to late February and early May, with another point of choice and change at a critical fork in the road of destiny coming between now and April 15-16.
As long time readers know, Neptune has been septile Pluto for about 17 years, setting up an energy pattern I have termed “the Grand Irrationality.” It is triggered 7 times a month by the moon, at least 21 times more a year via the inner planets, and figures in why things are so weird.
The septile is a nonrational aspect, and symbolizes irrational and/or obsessive-compulsive behaviors and the general hard edge things have had for quite a while. As the larger pattern is anchored by the two outermost planets of the “Spiritual Triad,” these forces are vast, invisible, and it’s safe to say, out of our control! While we have to learn right response, we do not control how events shape themselves that force our decisions.
The septile is a “destiny-producing” aspect, in that we confront choices at that phase of things that determines our future destiny. If “character is destiny,” then as we make choices that shape our character, we’ll affect our destiny as well. This happens at any septile between planets, and as Neptune and Pluto are in a long term dance of making years of septiles to each other, then it follows this is one of the most critical phases in human history.
The Grand Irrationality now makes the following zones hot, where “destiny producing” choices must be made that affects our futures: 7-11 Capricorn, 29 Aquarius-3 Pisces, 21-25 Aries, 12-16 Gemini, 3-7 Leo, 24-28 Virgo, and 16-20 Scorpio. Currently the Sun is passing through the Aries zone, triggering all 7 areas. If you have a planet in one or more of these degree zones, you are on the edge of dynamic change!
Here the Sun activates what we experienced through Venus in late February. This will be followed by Venus activating the Gemini zone April 15-23, and Mercury passing through the Aries zone May 2-6, bringing information, insights, and new perspectives on what the Sun is triggering now.
We also have a second irrationality pattern ready to show itself as various transits set it off. Anchored by Mars in early Virgo and Saturn in late Libra, this pattern has been active off and on the past several months. It involves crises of “right action” in the houses where Mars and Saturn are transiting, and affect houses where we have Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aquarius on the house cusps.
Saturn and Uranus made a long term triseptile that activated these zones back in December: 18-22 Sagittarius, 9-13 Aquarius, 1-5 Aries, 23-27 Taurus, 14-18 Cancer, 5-9 Virgo, and 26-30 Libra. Right now Mars is 4 Virgo, and Saturn is 27 Libra, and this septile will not really recede until the end of April.
That means every time the Moon or another planet move through any of these 7 zones over the next 3 weeks, this set of critical choices and changes determining elements of destiny will be set into motion. That means April 16-21 will be crucial, when Mercury crosses through the early Aries zone, as well as May 3-16, when Jupiter and then the Sun will be in the Taurus zone.
So if you’re wondering why things may seem weirder than usual the next 5 weeks, look to one or both of these patterns to be at work. Looks like the third week of April will be a critical point, since both configurations will be in motion.
That week Venus, Neptune, and Pluto trigger the Grand Irrationality (with the Moon boosting the action through its conjunction with Neptune April 15-16 and moving through the Aries zone April 2021). That week also shows us Mercury at the end of Pisces and beginning of Aries, making a triseptile to both Mars and Saturn, and the Moon boosting the energy of that pattern on April 18 and April 22-23.
So if you’ve been waiting for something to shift, or turn in a new direction, or show you a point when decisions get made and “destiny” is furthered (whether for better or worse!), look to these crucial points and don’t sweat it if it’s too weird for words. That’s the nature of our times, some more intense than others.
You can find more by going to Astrology in December 2011 - The Hard Edge of the Irrational Now as well as numerous articles in the archives about the Grand Irrationality. I’m also planning to publish a longer work, perhaps in booklet form, later in the Summer about the Grand Irrationality, about what it is and how we can best deal with the hard-edged energies, drawing on everything I’ve written up to now.
It certainly seems to have connections to this time related to the Mayan Calendar, though it’s not quite as glamorous as most of what’s written about “the end of time.” It’s just a generic weirdness that we all have to learn to navigate, and not get too strange ourselves as we navigate the hard edges of the intersections of Fate Street and Freewill Street while cruising down Eternity Boulevard.

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
Thanks Robert

My oh my, find myself having to reclaim my dignity not an easy task with the person I am dealing with but I have no other choice in the matter; it's sink or swim but I would rather swim even in choppy waters! Will reach safety eventually, so hanging on and on and on.... it's a clear cut case of right and wrong. Thank you Robert as always...

The pressure is on.
Over the last two weeks the earth has literally been shaking with the clear-cutting, logging and bulldozing of the 12 acre forest adjacent to my home of the last 18 years. Lover of Gaia and sensitive to the finer dimensions, this act of devastation has been terrible for me to witness.
I hold the dream of the awakening of the heart of man. May we remember who we are. May the Divine Mother forgive us our ignorance and greed.
Grand Irrationality indeed dear Robert.
Thank you for being there.

Hi Robert, thank you for a wonderful post, I really feel the weirdness even more these last few days and was wondering what your thoughts were on the planet Rahu, it has been brought to my attention a lot in the last week or so and has a lot of bad press depending on what you read but I find a lot of positives which have given me hope and have been advised to wear a gemstone for Rahu because it is very positive in my horoscope to bring in even more of it's beneficial power to help and assist me, it's a different train of thought from other Vedic astrologers they tend to work with the weaker planets but this Vedic astrologer says he has a lot of encouraging examples by doing it this way, I would be very interested in your thoughts,
Regards
Kay

Very illuminating. Looking forward to your forthcoming longer piece on this. It's hard not to feel that the weirdness of things is creating a kind of liminal space, a portal, for our consciousness. Perhaps it will help us let go of constructs that have outlived their purpose, and help us open out hearts and minds.
