In an interesting set of recent developments, archeologists are finding some things in the Holy Land that may confirm some things in the Bible.
From a new MSNBC article, 3,000-year-old artifacts reveal history behind the biblical King David and Goliath we find that there have been some amazing discoveries in an excavation where the ancient city of Gath once existed.
These discoveries shed a lot of light on the Israelites, the Canaanites, the possible Indo-European origins of the Philistines, and the historical King David. It's really an interesting article, with pictures of some great artifacts that offer a fascinating look at the Holy Land.
And though this next article is old, I'll provide a link in case you're interested and it never crossed your radar screen. Archeological evidence indicates that the Bible was written at least 400-500 years earlier than we thought, and given the punchline, the earliest writings that comprise some of the prototypical aphorisms of the Bible could very well have been written down much earlier than that.
I suspect we're going to be finding a lot more about the ancient world in the near future that will turn the history of our world toward an entirely new understanding. The next few decades are a critical moment in cosmic time where the past and present interact to make for a new future.
We live in times that are exciting, weird, complex, and intense, with many unknowns becoming known and futures being made in the moment. Relax and take a breath, since it's true that "if you had wanted to live an uneventful life, you would not have chosen to be born in the 20th century."
