This Full Moon at 11 Leo-Aquarius is stabilizing, consolidating, balancing, and intensely spiritually productive. Expect new heart strengths, unique interactive gifts and conditions, and getting to the core of things even as new vistas of conscious, concrete development" open up.
Today's article will cover rising signs around the globe, an overview of the Lunation, and the Sabian Symbols. Part 2 will cover the aspects, configurations and patterns, and which signs are most likely to be affected by where this falls in their charts.
A brief overview: the period ruled by this Full Moon will illuminate our creativity, self-expression, and ways of enjoying life. This will help us to explore new ideas, new views, and new ways of understanding spontaneity and what turns us on. This will be a time of enormous productivity opening our “bodily wisdom,” and for many it will seem like activity is dominated by “fate.”
The primary focus is about us going inward to find new sources of inspiration, or new forms to express a new integrated view of a greater whole than we knew before. We can find vision, understanding, and new ways to understand potential futures. There are new vistas of conscious, concrete development that beckon, so be open, and you could find yourself moving forward very quickly into actions that express a new spiritual intensity.
We continue to be able to find peace and poise in the indestructible elements of our Being while learning to relax into playing the roles we were born to play. Keep eliminating all the superfluous and extraneous elements of your life to quicken the pace. Concentration is the key to taking control of processes and keeping the initiative in our own hands. Things will be really combustible, but very creative and productive in some fairly inspired ways!
Today’s article will cover rising signs around the world, an overview of the Lunation, and the Sabian Symbols. Part 2 will cover the aspects, configurations and patterns, and which signs are most likely to be affected by where this falls in their charts. This stabilizing and idealistic Full Moon, helping us get clear about our individual spirituality expressed in stable forms occurs August 1 at 8:27 pm PDT, 11:27 pm EDT, and August 2, 4:27 am Greenwich.
Now on to the rising signs around the world. Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out New Moon in Cancer Pt. 1 – What’s Happening in July-August 2012. Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. Places on our list where the Lunation is near the angles and activating energies powerfully are (Sun/Moon): Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Perth (MC/IC), New Zealand to Hawaii and the west coast of the US and Canada (Dsc/Asc), Montreal, Washington DC, and Rio (IC/MC), and a triangular span from London to Moscow down to South Africa (Asc/Dsc).
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation makes two very important configurations, one a sextile-trine to Jupiter, and the other a quintile-tredecile to Saturn. These are extremely productive, specializing, and promise some extraordinary serendipity for many people with planets anywhere near 11 degrees of the Fire and Air signs, as well as 24 degrees of Aries and Libra.
This is the second Full Moon where the Sun falls in the subsequent sign to the Sun at the previous New Moon. This is the next step in a reversal of what we experienced since September 2010. We last had this sequence of Full Moon Suns in different signs than the previous New Moon from July 2009 through September 2010. Since then, we’ve had a sequence of the New Moon Sun being in the same sign as the next Full Moon Sun. As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepares the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So say goodbye to the old “normal” New Moon-Full Moon cycle, where we’ve experienced the illuminated form shown to us at the New Moon which is fulfilled by the light of the same sign at the subsequent Full Moon. The New Moons all fell in the first half of their signs and the Full Moons all fell in the last half of their signs through May 2012. Seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half makes some kind of sense.
This Full Moon falls at 11 Aquarius-Leo. It is said that the second third (decan) of any sign deals with the emotional, social, and cultural levels of life, and being the second decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Gemini and Sagittarius.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take.
The Solar degree symbol for the 11th degree of Leo is “Children on a swing in a huge oak tree.” Rudhyar says this is a degree of “the sustaining and protective power of ancestral background against emotions” and “appreciation of inborn cultural restraint.”
In the Mandala he goes on to say this is a degree of "the power of tradition as it shelters the beginnings of individual self-expression,” where we “play with words and concepts which ‘hang’ from the branches of the Tradition” aka the Tree of Life, or Tree of Knowledge. He speaks of the “release of emotional intensity at various levels” of individualized consciousness as we discover “newly developed potentialities of the mind,” or “the spontaneous activity of the innocent mind.”
So the illumination available via this Full Moon is through exploring ideas stemming from the Universal Wisdom Tradition, and playing innocently with concepts that help us release intense energies to individualize our consciousness. We may find protection in our ancestral wisdom or “inborn restraint.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Assurance, Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Combustion on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “satisfaction in the normal exercise of selfhood” and the dependability of what sustains us physically and socially. He says this implies “a special refreshment of the spirit” as we continually develop our responsibility to our most genuine self expression.
He states that this is a degree where “as we accept the overshadowing of a universal life and order we can achieve a better conception of our personal reality.” He offers the keyword DELIGHT. He states that when operating positively, the degree is a “consistent zest for every possible phase of living and a real generosity of self-expenditure.”
The Lunar degree symbol for the 11th degree of Aquarius is “Man tete-a-tete with his inspiration.” Rudhyar says this is a degree of “Creative power in man: its relationship to social behavior” and “Self-crystallization in a form of power, or else self-exploitation.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree is about “the need to rely upon inner inspiration and guidance at the start of new developments,” where we must keep open to higher, spiritual, or Soul energies at the threshold of a new period of individual activity. He says we cannot afford to depend on outer circumstances or traditional incentives, but instead must tap our inner creative power as we learn to get out of our own way to express that power.
He says this “refers to the overshadowing of the individual consciousness by an inner, yet transcendent Power.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Defensiveness, Act of Capitalization, and Scene of Contribution on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of our “satisfaction in the transcendental experiences of selfhood, and of a new realization that each individual lives in a consistent intimacy with spiritual verities of every sort and on every hand.” He says this involves “the need to act continually in personal self-interest, and to translate every vision into practical consummation.”
He states that as we accept “the overshadowing of a universal life and order” we must demonstrate our “special capacities and rededicate (our) own individual achievements.” He offers us the keyword ECSTASY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree "is an enthusiastic idealism and a tireless desire to serve others.”
From these symbols it seems we can see the light of seeing the need to be open to new ideas, new approaches, and play with concepts while being protected by exercising some degree of restraint. Here we’ll be able to be illuminated by finding a “delightful dependability of what sustains us physically and socially” leading to “a special refreshment of the spirit” as we take responsibility for developing “our most genuine self-expression” through wholeheartedly living generously and abundantly.
These can express as forms of synthesized inspiration by going inward, finding “satisfaction in our transcendental experiences,” and learning to act in our “enlightened self-interest.” Here we can express the light of the Lunation through being socially creative to “crystallize power” and bring our personal ideals to consummation within a greater sense of a Universal Life and Order. Find your enthusiasm, see you place of greatest service, and you may even experience moments of “ecstasy.”
For now, enjoy seeing how to be more creative in how you explore ideas and use them to express your connection with the Universal Life. There are many openings and new vistas of development promised by this Full Moon, as well as new heart strengths, so concentrate to see a bigger picture, relax into playing a role you already know well, and drop all that is unnecessary to achieve your social goals.
This is a great time to explore different perspectives regarding things we’ve already seen or thought of before now, and overall productivity will be sky high in many life areas. There are so many favorable aspects that this should be a very harmonious period with a lot of clear understanding, gifts, and interactive special conditions that will assist a new stability and momentum pulling a lot together.
In Part 2 we'll cover the aspects, configurations, and which degree spans will be impacted by this Full Moon in Leo-Aquarius. See you soon!
