I originally wrote this part of the discussion in response to an email from a client who wondered "Are there any birth dates that are closer to 'good' or 'evil?'" She said "I guess you’d first have to believe that human nature can be evil, so already I’m having trouble asking the question." I thought this interesting question deserved a thoughtful answer, since others have also asked me about this.I believe that we choose to manifest helpful or hurtful behaviors as our planets expose us to cyclic shifts. That's where the free will part of this life comes in. We are all Eternal Beings having human experiences. We have a body, we have our feelings, we have our lower and Higher mind, but we ARE a Soul. Our astrological chart shows that we all have certain things to learn, about ourselves, each other, and all that is.
In the moments of interaction with the various sectors of our reality we choose our actions, feelings, thoughts, and words which are altruistic or not, selfish or not, nasty or not, loving or not. These create future tendencies which will fulfill themselves to whatever degree, and how we respond then will help to shape what is even further down the road, across space and time.
There are some very difficult birth charts; others seem to have it easier. I believe we all have to learn certain lessons in our human-ness, and some lives are more active than others. Some are in-breathing, some are out-breathing. Some are accumulating, some are releasing. Some lives are weak, some are strong, some are both simultaneously, some alternate between these while moving through life experiences.
Our birth charts show us what cycles we've set into motion, and what we're dealing with. As I mentioned in part 1, all of us are learning to deal with the results of prior karmas left over from other times, past chapters of our life, as well as other lives, if you accept the concept that we are Eternal Consciousnesses who occasionally dip back into life in physical form here on Earth.
Without getting into a discussion of what constitutes "evil" or how it is manifest, I have known people who could easily be perceived as "evil" because of the deeds they do to others. In my own experience, I believe there is no truth, no honor, no integrity, and no goodwill in what we call evil.
Where these qualities of truth, honor, integrity, and goodwill are absent, there the seeds of "evil" are permitted to grow. However, I believe that for all of us, our Eternal nature is essentially good. I also believe our reality is designed for the "best" to come forth, if we only do our part. Each absolutely determines their own karmic rewards and punishments, and even something apparently "bad" today may serve to bring forth the skill or insight you need tomorrow.
That does not excuse the abusers, because we're not supposed to be doing things that generate forms of suffering. It creates a stink in the world, and only contributes to future suffering on the part of the perpetrator. Someone who persists in behaviors that hurt others only destroys themselves through self-generated effects guaranteed to lead to suffering.
All hurtful behaviors are a product of fear-based ignorance. I believe people can fall into fear-based delusions, but they can also come out of them if only they release the need to control outcomes resulting from fear-based delusions.
Those who persistently seek to hurt others, or use separateness to further selfishness and lies are ultimately living a delusion. That part of the suffering will end for us when they leave the body. However, they will take their suffering with them to be resolved on other levels entirely. Until they leave the body, though, I am reminded that "one fool can keep a thousand wise men very busy" indeed.
I have tremendous compassion for people put through difficulty by seemingly evil people using all kinds of nasty attacks and machinations. Eventually, though, one's need to stay personally involved with the mischiefmaker ends, and they are left with their own ugliness while you are living a life freed from such a one. What is important is to use the time and karma you must stay involved with "evil" people to lift your life into the Light.
The evil ones will eventually come to realize the error of their ways, or be removed from this fragile Earth to live out their violent and selfish karma in another bandwidth of reality. Even the Earth can only endure so much pollution (mental and emotional as well!) before its own higher karma dictates it go through its changes, whether we like them or not. Such is the nature of Nature whose cycles are unerring.
All that said, I also know that as you cultivate even the least of what is good, true, and beautiful, you further those in your life, and come to know the richness of all the textures of these. So I suppose my belief is that we're all good, some personalities are severely dysfunctional to the point of being dangerous to others, and that regardless of what seems to be, eventually we will use up our karma with those who are hurtful and can then have relationships that truly bring us joy and fulfillment, leaving the nasties behind, not with hatred or anger, but compassionate indifference.

I always enjoy EVERYTHING you write here on your blog, Robert, so thanks! Sorry about your disturbing e-mailer...yes, I hope they cease. Your writing of good vs evil reminds me of the Edgar Cayce quotation, "There is the worst in the best of us and the best in the worst of us." Sometimes I ponder whether a million little-harms are worth one giant-harm...many people (like your e-mailer) keep themselves busy with the petty stuff. My current belief is that we are all one, so any mischief perpetrated is one mischief received by the same individual. Have you moved yet?

Yes, but there is always duality, good and bad, yin and yang. And as I'm getting older I often ask myself isn't everything what is happening to us, good or bad, just what we need to experience and learn?
I really hate to see Venus square Saturn, specially in female charts. It, to say it diplomatically, very often indicates lack of love and some sort of lonely desperation.
And, I know, I shouldn't say "hate", but that is my truth. I hate Neptune hard aspects and my favorite bad guy is Neptune in first house. Person is either blind (can have real vision problems) or either lies others or her/himself.
But, on the other side, my friend astrologer can find true inspiration in that same aspect. So, one person can choose him and get lovely story about that aspect, or can choose me and get some sort of criticism.
Come to think of it, my Neptune is in 3. house in Sag, and trough my elementary school days I was such a great liar. But than I started to write stories and my "lies" got new meaning.
Few weeks ago we had very hard aspects and you wrote excellent articles about it. In those days I decided to deal with my "bad" Mars in 8. house in Taurus, the cusp is in Aries. And Mars makes 180 to my Moon. I went to dentist for 4 days and he removed all my mercury fillings and one root canal. It was hard, it was bloody, but I knew those days will be dramatic and I have chosen to have that "battle". Weeks after I finally got it - every aspect can be used constructively or destructively.
But do we have the will to do it and can we see other possibilities in the dark hours, that is the real "free will" question...

For some reason I liked the most; "one fool can keep a thousand wise men very busy"!
I sometimes really need all the wisest helpers - hopefully not too often :)

I believe in both fate and free will.
Fate is situations that are brought to us that are out of our control.
Then we have the free will to choose how were going to deal with them.

As one of my sensai used say, no such thing as good and bad, just absence of Love.
As we are beings of free will, living a conscious life moment to moment, if we be love, embody that, act from there, view from there (!) then....even an unpleasant aspect is transformed..
