Jupiter went retrograde at 17 degrees of Gemini at 6:18 am PDT, 2:18 pm Greenwich on October 4. It now begins phase two of its yearly passage through each sign. What does this mean for all of us?
First, any time any planet goes retrograde it represents a re-tracing of the zodiacal path it already transited in direct motion. This one retrogrades back from 17 Gemini to 7 Gemini. I’ll be writing more about the qualities we can expect to see made manifest over the next few months, as well as what it means for all signs, in future articles.
For today, I’ll begin with pointing out that so far, Jupiter has been in Gemini since June. This marks the end of its first phase in that sign. We opened to new Jupiterian perspectives in the house transiting Jupiter occupies in our chart.
Now it retrogrades and brings rewards, echoes, blessings, and returns of previous Jupiter ruled things already set into motion. We should see new perspectives on ideas, opportunities, and new openings that have happened to us all since June. Jupiter represents a higher kind of Divine Mercy as a balance to life’s severities. When Jupiter retrogrades, we can see how blessings and grace can come to us as a result of what we’ve already glimpsed, embraced, or set into motion before now as part of our greater Life Adventure and Quest.
As noted in the article on The Planetary Dualities, Jupiter’s duality is Wealth/Poverty. Quoting the great Western Master Paul Foster Case, “This is the aspect of consciousness showing how we are grasping circumstances with abundance or neediness.” As I explained in that article, “By our Jupiterian function we waste time, energy, or money, or are merciful in ways others can mistake for weakness, teaching us to understand the eternal abundance of the Universe in giving us what we need when we need it, and accept it.”
We now get to re-trace ground in Gemini we’ve already traversed and experienced through Jupiter’s lighting up that sector of our lives. We will all be getting new information and an understanding of larger things involving making our view of life more abundant, more of an adventure, with less neediness and waste. Many also will open to an new understanding of past and present “universal abundance,” and shift their thinking to embrace a more open view of what comes to us, when it comes to us, how it comes to us, and why it comes to us.
Jupiter in Gemini also indicates that we’ve gotten many new ideas and openings in the life areas where we have Sagittarius and Pisces on our house cusps. Now we get to review those ideas and openings, in order to become more well-rounded in our understanding of how we need new ideas and perspectives in those life areas.
Another thing of importance is that recently we all experienced Venus going through most of Gemini, then went retrograde for many weeks, and then resumed its forward motion and completed its journey through that sign. To refresh your memory, Venus entered Gemini in early April, went retrograde at 24 Gemini in mid-May, stayed retrograde through late June, and then went direct at 8 Gemini and moved forward through the rest of Gemini all of July through early August.
That means we all got a huge dose of Gemini through the Light of Venus for over 4 months. We were all given significant and varied Venus-ruled experiences in Gemini, which then began to be expanded by Jupiter’s Light in June. What Venus sowed, Jupiter will expand into a larger harvest. However, we must go through Jupiter’s retrograde span in order to get returns on what has already been done.
Since Gemini represents “immediate ideas,” don’t sweat what is to come a long time from now; enjoy the good fortune you have, the openings and freedom of a new vision, new truths, and new futures based on seeing new ideas from different perspectives over the next few months. It may seem like a “back to the future” type of energy, but it can also help us connect the dots within a larger picture, a greater idea, or a new perspective on the adventure of our lives.

Is it just me, or did Venus transit the sun right around the degree Jupiter went Sationary Rx?

Hello, writing to you for the first time.
So Jupiter is retrograding to 7 Gemini, the degree which made Yod on 24-25 July. I clearly remember because very strong "forks of the road of the destiny" event occurred to me... and I am still not quite able to accept what happened then. Do you think this retrograding process may help me to reflect things relating to this Yod? When Jupiter will exactly reach that degree? When start going direct again? Could you explain about details of this degree? Thank you.

I'm a novice at this but my ephemeris gives GMT 6th June, Venus conjunct Sun, was about 15deg 42' Gemini, Moon has just conjunct Jupiter at 16 deg 23' before retro, so, pretty close links I'd say, anyone get it exact?

I find it interesting Jupiter going retrograde in Gemini, and Mercury going retrograde in Sagittarius in November. Great article, thanks for all you do!

Robert,
My 29 year old daughter died June 14th leaving behind 3 young boys...I have wanted to read your book since then but have been out of sorts to ask.

Hi KC - On May 27, Mercury conjuncted the Sun at 7 Gemini. Mercury conjuncted Venus RX on June 1-2 at 19 Gemini, and the Sun conjuncted Venus RX on June 5-6 at 16 Gemini. Venus went stationary direct June 27-28 at 8 Gemini. So yes, Jupiter went SRX on the occultation degree. Even if it's a degree away, it's close enough for horseshoes, as "they" say. I posted a lot about the Venus event related to the 2011 and 2012 Gemini eclipses back then. You can begin at A Brief Look At the June 2012 Gemini-Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse and the Venus Retrograde Occultation Event and yes, linking all the Gemini events of the past 16 months is going to be one of the Jupiter RX in Gemini articles coming over the next number of weeks.
Hi ai - Yes, the retrograde should give you reflections on how you were protected, or blessed, or opened to a new life adventure back during your "expansion through sacrifice" response to the Yod. It can bring returns, or a new view, a new understanding of the truth of the matter, or a new way to be abundant in your view. It will retrograde back to 7 Gemini through late January 2013, when it will go direct. The details of the RX and SD degrees will be the subject of future articles on Jupiter RX.
Hi wunjo raido - The Moon conjuncted Jupiter in an occultation event on Friday, October 5, at 2:08 pm PDT, 5:08 pm EDT, 10:08 pm Greenwich.
Hi Nancy Robinson - You're most welcome. Sag energies will show us how to exteriorize the Gemini expansions.
Hi donna notmany - My sincere condolences on your loss. I've already written you. My meditations and best energies to you in this time of sorrow and transformation. And as I noted in my email, I hope you can spend some time with the articles of January 9, beginning with the 2006 article, then going to the 2007 article and so forth, so you can breathe into the grief process and at some point find some comfort in what I've written in those posts. The death of a child is the worst that can happen - now there's nothing to do but navigate the grief process the best you're able while being a strength to your grandchildren, who no doubt are also having more than a hard time with it all.

My goodness Donna -- may blessings and His many angels surround you and your grandsons at this time and throughout your journey. May all of you be surrounded continually in love and grace.
