This Solar Eclipse will have a huge impact on everyone for 3+ years. All eclipses shut something down, taking away elements of our lives no longer true for us. Over the next 38 months many will go through endings while finding a role they were born to play.
Scorpio is the sign of elimination, purification, and regeneration of power. It is how Taurus, the sign of values, resources, and capturing concrete forms of things, externalizes. So parts of our magnetism and how we attract things, as well as our ability to hold on to things and people will end, with the void sure to attract new forms of these.
Because this Eclipse lasts 3 hours and 13 minutes from start to finish, and it's of a relatively high magnitude, it will have a major impact on everyone for about 3 years 3 months. As with the themes of the June and November 2011 Solar and Lunar Eclipses, this one will help us end old mental leftovers, old truths, old perceptions and interpretations, and old ideas about our future, with the void sure to attract new forms of Scorpio energies.
Look to the house where this Lunation falls to see what area of your life will be impacted, just as the houses where past Solar Eclipses fell have already been shutting down obsolete patterns since then. This one will take something away, leaving a void that will attract something appropriate to who you are becoming.
This Total Solar Eclipse happens on November 13, 2012, at 2:08 pm PST, 5:08 pm EST, and 10:08 pm Greenwich (November 14 in EET and points east). The Lunation finds 26 Pisces rising in Santa Monica, 14 Pisces in Vancouver, 8 Gemini in Montreal, 28 Taurus in Washington DC, 5 Gemini in Rio, 1 Leo in Lisbon, 15 Leo in London, 25 Leo in Berlin, 29 Leo in Sofia, 2 Virgo in Cairo, 13 Leo in Johannesburg, and 13 Virgo in Moscow.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants are 8 Libra in Abbottabad, 12 Libra in New Delhi, 13 Libra in Trivandrum, 16 Scorpio in Hong Kong, 2 Sagittarius in Tokyo, 8 Sagittarius in Perth, 9 Capricorn in Melbourne, 11 Capricorn in Brisbane, 6 Aquarius in Wellington, and 10 Aquarius rising on Maui (Nov 13).
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and Earth. The Moon blocks the light from the Sun and casts a shadow on Earth. In eclipse lore, where the Eclipse is visible will be where the greatest effects can be expected, lasting the number of years that the eclipse is long in hours.
The 2009 Solar Eclipse at 30 Cancer was one of the longest of the 21st century, so its effects have been powerful through 2012 into 2013. The Solar Eclipses of 2010 will also be powerful for a number of years. There's more in the archives, so please take a new look.
The Solar Eclipse of January 2011 lasted 4 hours and 20 minutes, which also makes it a player in the events of 2012-2013, since it'll be active for 4 years and 4 months. As noted, the June 2011 Gemini Eclipse was very long, bright, and powerful, while the July 2011 Cancer Eclipse was short and weak, and its influence will last only through the end of 2012.
The November 2011 Sagittarius Eclipse was very bright, and will be in effect for almost 4 years. So besides the usual transits and Lunations, planetary stations and conjunctions to the outer transformational planets, we also have Eclipses as long wave influences still be in play years after the event!
As I've mentioned in previous articles, we had 4 Solar Eclipses in 2011, which is a very rare occurrence. The January 2011 Eclipse was visible in Europe and the major cities of the Middle East. Perhaps that Eclipse had some correlations with the "Arab Spring" revolutions spreading throughout that region.
The June 2011 Eclipse was visible in Northern Canada, Iceland, Greenland, and Norway. The July 2011 Eclipse was visible only in a small area between Antarctica and South Africa, so was seen by no one. The November 2011 Eclipse was visible in South Africa, Antarctica, and New Zealand.
The May 2012 Eclipse was visible from S. China and Japan through the Northern Pacific and Aleutian Islands down to S. Oregon and N. California, central Nevada, southern Utah, northern Arizona, New Mexico (Albuquerque!), and the Texas Panhandle. This November 2012 Total Solar Eclipse is partial across a large area of the South Pacific (including Australia and New Zealand), southern South America, and part of Antarctica. The only place it will be total is on the east coast of Queensland, Australia.
From the NASA Solar Eclipse site (where you can find more than you could ever want to know about Solar Eclipses!)
... The path of the Moon's umbral shadow crosses the South Pacific Ocean where it makes no landfall except for northern Australia. The Moon's penumbral shadow produces a partial eclipse visible from a much larger region covering the South Pacific (including Australia and New Zealand), southern South America, and part of Antarctica. The central eclipse path begins in Australia's Garig Ganak Barlu National Park in the Northern Territory about 250 kilometres east of Darwin at 20:35 UT. Traveling southeast, the umbral shadow quickly crosses the Gulf of Carpentaria and reaches the Cape York Peninsula at 20:37 UT.
The first and only populated region in the path lies along the east coast of Queensland. Gateway to Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is about 30 kilometres south of the central line. Its residents and visitors will enjoy an early morning total eclipse lasting 2 minutes with the Sun just 14° above the eastern horizon. Observers on the central line can eke out another 5 seconds of totality, but local weather conditions will play a far greater role in choosing a viewing site than a few seconds of totality.
After leaving Australia, the umbral shadow glides over the ocean, undisturbed by further landfall for the remainder of its track. The instant of greatest eclipse occurs in the South Pacific at 22:11:48 UT. At this instant, the axis of the Moon's shadow passes closest to Earth's centre. The maximum duration of totality is 4 minutes 2 seconds, the Sun's altitude is 68°, and the path width is 179 kilometres. Continuing across the vast South Pacific, the umbral shadow's path ends about 800 kilometres west of Chile at 23:48 UT...
... This is the 45th eclipse of Saros 133. The series began on 1219 Jul 13 with the first of 13 partial eclipses. The first annular eclipse was non-central and occurred on 1435 Nov 20. Five more annular eclipses followed until a hybrid eclipse on 1544 Jan 24. Subsequent eclipses in the series have been total with a steadily increasing duration of totality until the peak duration of 6 minutes 50 seconds was reached on 1850 Aug 07. The duration of totality has been decreasing since then. The remaining 20 total eclipses will see totality drop to below 2 minutes. The series ends with a set of 7 partial eclipses the last of which occurs on 2499 Sep 05.
Besides the factor of where the shadow falls, in Astrology Eclipses are said to be most powerful when they conjunct the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, or Midheaven of a birth chart. When this happens it always brings endings related to the planets and sectors involved, but these can be of great benefit in clearing away old life factors that have no place in our future. As it was once sung, "something's lost and something's gained in living every day..."
All Solar Eclipses are New Moons. When a Lunation is on one of the angles of a chart, it is said to be particularly powerful. This month the Eclipse is rising in the area encompassed by Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Perth, on or near the Midheaven (culminating) from Wellington to Maui, setting in the area from Washington DC to Houston to Rio, and on the nadir in the UK, Europe, and Africa. These places will all see developments related to this Eclipse over the next 3 + years.
This is a powerful Eclipse due to its duration and magnitude that will trigger effects from other recent Eclipses due to several factors. The two most recent Solar Eclipses show this Eclipse Mercury is opposed the Gemini Eclipse degree of the May 2012 Solar Eclipse, and even more significantly, contacts of this Eclipse to the Nov 2011 Solar Eclipse include this Eclipse Jupiter conjuncts the SN of that Eclipse, this Mars conjuncts that Venus, and this Mercury is also retrograde in Sagittarius as is that one, near the exact degree of that Nov 2011 Eclipse. Please go back and check out the articles on the May 2012 Solar Eclipse, since this one will set off related effects.
Of course, besides these past echoes and the usual general effects, the Eclipse will also bring losses and endings where it falls in our individual birth charts. In an example of how a loss can work to great benefit, if it conjuncts the Saturn in a birth chart, it can indicate the ending of old, lesser responsibilities, limitations, or fears, and open the being to a greater sense of purpose. If it conjuncts Jupiter, then it could show the ending of an old philosophy or belief system and open the gates to something far greater.
Given a Solar Eclipse is a New Moon, then like all Lunations that work their influence over time, it's triggered by subsequent transits to those points. Thus as mentioned in a previous article, we can assume we will see developments related to this Eclipse when Mercury retrogrades back across the Eclipse degree on November 20-21, giving us a new look at what this is about.
We will get a third set of insights when Mercury moves forward across the degree December 2-3, and should find something of value that is pleasing to us on December 8-9-10 when Venus and then the Moon crosse the Eclipse degree. Of course, these ideas, values, messages or relationship related things may also show the endings and/or regenerations promised by this Scorpio Eclipse.
This Eclipse, falling at a time when Mercury will retrograde across the exact degree and then go direct conjunct the degree before crossing it a third time shows that the span between 19-30 Scorpio will be a “hot zone” for us all for years. We’re all being tuned so we can hear the inner voice, and some are beginning to train on how to pick up on messages coming from subtle frequency zones of Higher Awareness. Venus will give substance and rhythmic frequency to this practice between December 5-17.
The reason I bring this up in such detail is that this Eclipse, along with the Mercury retrograde lessons associated with it, will be crystallized into forms of mastery or limitation between December 2013-2014 when Saturn transits the span. Whatever is shut down, lost, or ended associated with this Eclipse will become a chain or a power during that time.
Pay close attention to the transits I mentioned between now and mid-December, since they hold the keys to effective abilities to respond to what’s coming for everyone in 2014. This Eclipse and these transits are opportunities to understand magnetism better, whether our own, others, or situations. This can give us insights into why we had to give something or someone up, or why we could not hold on to something or someone, and why cleaning out our inner and outer life from time to time creates space that will be filled with new things, people, ideas, feelings, and actions.
In the next part of the series, we'll explore how this Eclipse will manifest and its astrological components, including which signs will be most affected over the next 3 + years.

The NYC area gets 3 Gemini on the event ascendant... which seems to be a blessing of sorts in light of the recent weather we've recently battled/continue to battle.
Robert - What orbs do you take regarding eclipse conjunctions to a person's natal and progressed angles, sun or moon?

Feeling very disturbed. On a daily basis in turmoil deciding wether to stay in unfulfilling marriage to a Gemini or fight for a love relationship with an aquarian that society would see as taboo, but would be so right for me. Is this the begnning of effects of new moon solar eclipse on a 26 November born sagitarian. Should I ride it out and ignore my current state?

if an important relationship ends in the days following this solar eclipse, is it time to really say goodbye or will there be more to say because mercury is also retrograde? confunsion rules these days...

Having read this I believed it was rather informative. I appreciate you taking the time and energy to put this article together. I once again find myself spending way too much time reading, but so what, it was still worthwhile!
