A Few Thoughts at the End of 2012 – Happy New Year 2013!

Today is a wander through some reflections. As most who come here know, I consider the Solstice the “true” beginning of the year, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. Right now, however, at least a billion people around the world are celebrating this point in time as “Happy New Year.”

First, an astrological insight. I suppose there’s some sort of resonance between this point in time and the Winter Solstice, since both points are celebrated as “The New Year” in Western cultures. Each year, since the span is 10 days, wherever the Moon is on Dec 31 is about a trine to wherever it was at the Solstice, mas o menos. It could be less or more depending on the speed of the Moon between the Solstice and Dec 31. This would indicate a harmonization and stabilization of expression of form “birthed” at the Solstice is at work on December 31.

Also, being one to celebrate the significant days of other cultures, those that use Lunar based calendars to celebrate their New Year at different points in the year are also game for a “Happy New Year” party! In some ways, I suppose we could all use all the New Year celebrations to renew our year, based in whatever astrological indicator is being used to mark the beginning of that culture’s year.

For example, the Chinese New Year of the Water Snake is coming soon!! This year it falls on February 10, 2013, in most of the world, with the New Moon at 22 Aquarius. Since the Chinese New Year always falls in my 6th or 7th house. I must consider that time marking a “new year” primarily involves health, work, service, and relationships. Where it falls in your map may show you how the Water Snake will activate those life areas in 2013!!

In any case, the year called 2012 in our Western calendar is now done. A new Mayan calendar cycle has begun. Cataclysms did not occur, at least no more cataclysmic than usual, if you know what I mean….

While we experienced the usual Earth upheavals in the usual places, it’s also very clear that the biosphere has become unstable in many ways. The “Ring of Fire” has been activated for over 20 years, and it’s not settling down any time soon. Between the Earth changes that will ultimately restore homeostasis to the planet, and what we humans have set into motion, we can be assured of a wild ride for many years to come! It’s all to help us all to overcome fear.

Things are happening even if the media isn’t reporting it. Because we’re in the middle of a long wave shift between Great Ages, the Earth changes will go on and on for quite a while. Here it may be useful to remember that humanity has always been forced to deal with many extreme things through the Ages, whether natural “disasters” or human-made disasters. Everything serves to bring forth our imagination, resolve, courage, determination, and perseverance as expressions of our Lovingly Wise Intelligence in Action.

Events are on the way that will require immediate collective response. It’s also equally obvious that there is a great polarization between those who are moving into a feeling-flow toward a greater life and awareness, juxtaposed with those who remain hypnotized by elusive material forms and a sense of aimlessness in a vast field I have termed “The Grand Irrationality.”

A great blessing we’ve all been called to accept is that due to the collective quickening, this year those who were willing to learn were taught how to listen to a deeper voice of “direct knowing” while moving through multilevel experiences. It’s as though some channels of feeling and knowing have been opened, and those who are on their path to Truth have been learning how to navigate that greater awareness.

Remember too that in the process of becoming our Highest Self, we are learning how to move through feelings without losing our equilibrium or sense of humor and perspective. Those who learned to feel a deeper and heightened sense of feeling this past year are no doubt feeling more of everything than they used to.

If you’re feeling a lot more than you used to, just keep learning how to recognize the differences between when you’re feeling your feelings, when you’re feeling others’ feelings, and when you’re feeling the vast ocean of generic human feelings. Once you figure out what’s yours and what is only there for your prayers and/or blessings, then you won’t fall into confusion when confronted with feelings that aren’t yours. Then you’ll be an emotional lighthouse in your world.

This will also help you in the future, since many things will continue to be difficult in coming years due to forces beyond individual control. Still, we have the power to remain detached from the chains of usual thinking, and be discriminating about when to dance and when to sit things out. We all have the ability to be led to our place of greatest service, greatest fulfillment, and greatest love when we learn to get out of our own way. 2012 helped many to do just that.

Soon your faith will be rewarded, and your recent discoveries will yield new relationships, new views, and new opportunities. Summer will present major turning points in our long term transformational process, and bring a new series of heavy Cardinal T-squares that have dominated our Summers and Autumns between 2010 and now.

March and April 2013 will bring a great pulse of fused and renewed energies, giving tremendous initiative and power to the promise we set into motion in the Spring of 2011. I’ll be writing more about this in coming weeks and months, as well as the larger themes of 2013.

Briefly, major themes for the coming year involve sharing our heart’s love and creativity, learning techniques of concentration to see the whole picture, being precise in our compassion and service, mastering discouragement, finding a new collective dedication, and living new forms of our worldly and spiritual life so that a new identity can come forth. Just don’t be impatient as you explore new ways of expressing your genius and/or unique qualities.

Finally, given all that’s happened, as well as all that hasn’t, try to keep focused on the fact that Truth, Goodness, and Beauty are universal human values. Look for them and let go of fearing what is yet to come, since as you look for these you find them in many unsuspected places, within and without.

Happy New Year to all and welcome to the New Era. Indeed things are happening weather the Media reports on them or not. We also need a perspective of things to pick up what is behind what is seen in the Media. I can't but link all the floodings, rain, snow storms, huricanes, etc. with the motion of Water as a symbol of emotional energy that is pretty much active. The planet calling on our attention, the New Aquarian Era, the water bearer sharing its water to all. Enery for the needed changes everywhere. The water cycle as that of humanity's evolution, etc. etc. We are living very intense, interesting times. Thay are usually moving faster and deeper than that of what most human consiciousness can be aware of most of the time. On hindsight we will get a clearer picture of this stage, but we can still "see" and understand and find meaning if we give ourselves the time to listen and flow with the current, or flow (of Water?).

and "the need for collective immediate response"
