Yesterday we took a look at Jupiter in Gemini, and some of what we can expect now that Jupiter is direct in motion. Today we look at the Sabian symbols, and what past events it will trigger as it moves forward in Gemini for the next 5+ months.
First, the symbols. Since it went retrograde at 17 Gemini in early October, we’ve been getting a new look at what we opened to during the time it was between 7-17 Gemini in July, August, and September 2012. That stationary rx point marked a threshold we’ve been exploring since then.
The Sabian Symbol for 17 Gemini is about expansion of our ability to communicate or distribute information or ideas. Rudhyar says it’s about “mental metamorphosis,” and the ability to act in some way that transmutes physical (or psychic) power into creative imagination and ideas. We are told it is an inner wisdom that will lead to realizations of deeper realities, and a degree of “steady growth.” It’s in the actional level of the scene of Exteriorization in the span of Restlessness.
Dr. Marc Jones, author of the Sabian Symbols, says this degree, “The head of health dissolved into the head of mentality,” is about our “achievement on the level of spiritual or eternal fellowship” as a “focus of selfhood in conscious self-awareness.” We are told this is a degree of active imagination and appreciation for what we share with others.
He states “well-rounded individuality (is)… the condition of all real progress.” The keyword is “DEVELOPMENT,” and when acting in a positive manner, this degree is “the effective orientation of selfhood in an over-all vision.”
That implies our Jupiter energy did a retrograde exploration of our new discoveries from October through now involving some form of mental metamorphosis, inner wisdom, and finding forms of spiritual fellowship. We have all developed in our orientation toward a larger vision through transmuting life into mind.
Now that Jupiter is stationary direct, it offers us a platform from which to launch our 2013 Jupiterian adventure of expansion, whether of consciousness, vision, truth, or future. This will carry us through the rest of Jupiter’s stay in Gemini, and prepare us for its entry into Cancer at 6:40 pm PDT June 25, 2013, 2:40 am Greenwich June 26).
Rudhyar says 7 Gemini is about learning to combine our ability to sense what could nourish us in Nature, and then do some simple, natural effort to cooperate with Nature that strengthens our faith and trust in life, seeing how we can cooperate with Nature and it will cooperate with us. This is about our “mature relationship” with “the basic life giving reality” of our environment that can lead us to “poise” and “inner assurance.”
That implies that this symbol is about our ability to combine our intuition, perception, and willingness to do what we need to find hidden things that nourish us from “Nature’s well.” It could be an outer “well,” or an inner “well.” Sense the water and learn how to bring it up to the surface.
Dr. Jones says this degree, “An old fashioned well.” Astute readers will remember that this was the Lunar degree in the November 28, 2012, Full Moon Lunar Eclipse of Gemini-Sagittarius just a few weeks ago, and still in force through sometime in April 2013. That means Jupiter will now expand, free, or liberate those Lunar energies in ways that free us wherever it’s transiting. Expect that Eclipse to be a major teacher of us all over the next few weeks, so when you’re done here please check out the three articles related to that Lunar Eclipse!
Rather than reinvent the wheel, here’s what I wrote about that Lunar degree that is now being activated by Jupiter:
The Lunar degree symbol for the 7th degree of Gemini is “An old fashioned well.” Rudhyar says this is a degree of “deep and mature relationship between man and the basic life-giving reality of his environment,” “inner assurance,” and “poise.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree is about “Man’s primordial faith in the hidden sustaining power of life.” He goes on to state that this is “the image of the eternal search for that which is at the root of all living processes, i.e. water,” and that a simple natural effort when we see the signs of the existence of that source will help us enter into cooperative relationship with Nature.
He goes further to offer that it’s good for us “to develop the intuitive sense which enables (us) to feel this presence and to make it effectual in (our) daily life.” So it’s about “the power of the collective and bio-spiritual energies which sustain” which can result in “a fundamental trust in and cooperation with life.” He says this degree falls in the Span of Zeal, Act of Differentiation, and Scene of Discovery on the Emotional-Cultural level....
... Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “the unimpeachable source of life on the side of personal self-renewal and simple organic integrity.” He speaks of our purity as a determining factor in our character, and of our ability to be ourselves as we enter relationships where we assimilate what we are to learn. Here we continually “draw in and give out the substance” of who we are, and are rewarded by Nature for “continuing to be.”
He offers us the keyword RECOMPENSE. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree “is absolute self-reliance and uncompromising faithfulness.”
As all Eclipses shut things down so that other things can come forth, we can expect Jupiter’s expansive energies to quicken endings connected with this Eclipse, as well as offer us blessings and protection in imagining the new energies associated with this degree. It would seem that wherever we have early Gemini in our charts, things associated with the life area symbolized by that house have been under tremendous ferment since last April.
Connecting the dots, in 2012 we had Venus go across 7-8 Gemini the first time in April. There was a Superior Conjunction between the Sun and Mercury in late May at 7 Gemini, followed by Venus going stationary direct at 8 Gemini last June. Jupiter crossed these degrees in mid-July. All of these set patterns into play connected with Gemini lessons wherever we have it in our charts. Now that Jupiter is direct, it will trigger new Jupiterian pulses to the lessons of 8-24 Gemini, the zone where Venus was direct and retrograde from mid-April through July 2012. That will offer new understanding of what went on and why.
Besides these recent developments being set into motion, remember that as long as the very powerful 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse is still in force, every transit over 12 Gemini triggers new forms of “letting go of the ghosts of the past.” Venus played its huge part in this from April through August.
Now that Jupiter stationary direct is conjunct that point, and will be exact at the very end of March and the first days of April, it indicates our need to be Jupiterian in how we regard whatever is now being left behind these next few weeks. Take an abundant view, bless and forgive through seeing different ways of viewing what has been, and what seems to be. There may also be forms of grace or mercy made manifest, so see things through different lens.
Since it's direct in motion, Jupiter will make a third pass through its “shadow zone” of 7-17 Gemini through the end of April. This helps us go deeper over these next few months into what we’ve discovered since last Spring, practicing a degree of skill since we’ve now seen these things through multiple angles of view.
Continue to open to new emotional, social, and cultural discoveries as a foundation for how we can exteriorize those discoveries in action (late April and early May), through emotional and social realms (late May and very early June), and on the individual-mental and spiritual level ( June.) You’ll be riding a wave by May that will lead to entirely new developments by late June.
That’s because in late June, Jupiter enters early Cancer. That begins a fundamental reorientation for all of us wherever we have Cancer in our chart. I’ll write more about it as we get closer to the transition, but for now keep in mind that whatever we’ve discovered demands externalization, and when the old way is exhausted, a new way is just around the corner.
All we’ve discovered is preparation for the change of allegiance to come this Summer. We will all move in a new direction based in where Jupiter is and what it rules in our charts, with major trials, karmic adjustments, and “curbed recklessness” coming in July so we can more fully experience the Ageless Wisdom forms perfect for us that are indicated by Mercury’s stationary direct point conjunct the star Sirius at that time.

When transiting Jupiter moves into my 8th house Cancer, it will be opposing my natal Jupiter in Capricorn Transiting Pluto is also in my 2nd house opposing my natal 8th house Uranus. To put it bluntly, is this a never to be forgotten summer for me?

I have alot of jupiterian stuff happening as I also have had uranus in and out of sextile with natal jupiter since april 2012 which has been quit exciting and yet confronting in so many valuable ways, it makes its final peak on feb 9th so anticpating and being of faith for a burst of inspirational opportunities, I have been experiencing a very strong headache since jupiter stationed and sense it acombination of holding my breath (which I am doing best to take charge of and breathe deeply plus feeling the physical "bruising" obviouse now I have released my mind from the burdens of harsh thinking that had weighed me down.
I hope its ok to share the joy I feel as I begin to physically experience them, I am a humble person who is grateful for the support given when I have shared a little of the woes and my intent is to inspire a little more hope in others if needed?
Jupiter will not be exact conjunct my 0 cancer 55 sun at my solar return 22nd June, but it will be in my 9th house and will be building, so this I am also looking forward to with loving hopes as it was during jupiters transit of my 7th and 8th houses, with the reinforced determination of saturn going through taurus 8th house that threatened to demolished what seemed like my whole world 13 years ago, I "knew" at a deep level it was for the best so
i chose to no longer hold up that whole unsuitable world which I dont regret and is so valuable for the person I am and here to give, the trauma was huge, the healing potential which I embraced and worked hard on for myself and my children (now adults) is exponentially more huge.
Thanks again Robert and the Aquarius Paper community xxx

Your insights are always extremely helpful, Robert. Thank you! This jupiter in Gemini transit has been all things related to my 'self'- first house-I'm 0 deg Gemini asc. (and, consequently, some unintended weight gain). I wish that was the extent of it! But of course, it's never that simple! All sorts of battles internally with who am I - what am I really here to do (10th house sun Aquarius conjunct Jupiter natal)- so I've really been feeling an internal 'push pull' energy. Although, the past few days, I literally feel I'm finally moving forward! Also, I just have to share how funny the Keyword is- DEVELOPMENT. My career-/job title is Development Director - I fundraise for a non-profit. I'm hoping these slow couple of months (money has not been easy to raise, or in flow- which I imagine is the retrograde) will finally release, and things will begin to move forward in what I've set in motion (pending grant applications, sponsorship requests, etc).

Robert,
As you know. Gemini is my 12th and Jupiter stationed retrograde opposite my natal Neptune. With my MC at 17 Pisces, it's been a bit of a rough roller coaster ride to say the least with all of this Gemini action going on! Yet, just as Jupiter stationed direct, I had these strange self-value issues reappear and, thanks to your article here, I now know why! That Venus transit! Since this October, I've felt like I've been learning how to get out of my way and let the infinite source energy work with me to achieve desired results. Now, Jupiter's direct and the roller coaster is back in forward motion. There feels like there's a buildup to something big, which is probably a natural feeling of Jupiter transiting the 12th, but also, Jupiter heading for my Cancer ASC/1st house. Looking forward to your Jupiter in Cancer articles! Thanks again!
