This Full Moon at 8 Aquarius-Leo opens two weeks of stable focus, deep insights, getting it in gear, and seeing the future in present patterns. This will release a lot of energy related to our past willingness to do what it takes, and our current willingness to see a clear vision, find a workable plan, and find the right time to begin what we need to. This is not really a “feel good” type of chart, but it will clarify a lot and overall result in an extraordinarily important time and unique gifts while fixing patterns for the future as some things melt down.
As most of you already know, forming aspects show things to come, while separating aspects show things already in the past. This Full Moon has a wide variety of different aspect, both frictional and specializing, with Saturn mixing it up in a powerful T-square, being triseptile Jupiter as well as being part of a potential Great Quintile, all while anchoring the powerful and productive Saturn sextile Pluto. As Saturn is also on its stationary retrograde degree, we enter the primary Saturn lesson for 2013, that of conducting ourselves and our interactions at a high level or civility and culture rather than with an everyday type of approach. Beginning now, we are all called to become “ambassadors at an embassy ball.”
Besides the Lunation T-square and the 4 points of a 5-Pointed Star pattern called a Great Quintile, other major forming aspects include Moon opposition Mercury, Mercury conjunct Mars and septile Uranus, Mars novile Uranus and conjunct Neptune (out of sign), Jupiter triseptile Saturn and sextile Uranus, and the ever-present Uranus square Pluto putting the hard edge on our times.
I gave you some hints about the influence of the Jupiter triseptile Saturn in the part 2 of the New Moon articles that are the seed forms for what’s happening at this Full Moon. That, along with the aspects listed above taken together, indicates there is a lot of productivity with some degree of pressure, choices and changes around if and what we need to renovate in our lives, or gifts that demand exteriorization, showing us what has to be put on the shelf for later, and what can be revolutionized now.
Mercury septile Uranus sets 7 zones of dynamic revolution in our ideas, how we coordinate the various departments of our lives, and how we can be more individual in how we do what we do to accelerate the growth process. This can help us shortcut the time we need to “succeed” at something related to these two planets.
These choices and changes will work out through houses and planets in our charts in Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Capricorn, and Aquarius. The specific zones activated by this septile are 13-15 Aquarius, 5-7 Aries, 26-28 Taurus, 18-20 Cancer, 9-11 Virgo, 1-3 Scorpio, and 22-24 Sagittarius. If you have one or more of these zones occupied in your chart, expect important developments involving ideas, communications, seeing clearly how to do something, or understanding that your individuality must be found by excluding that which you are not.
It’s important to note that Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation has only one other opposition involving Moon opposed Mercury, showing that Mercury is a herald for what the Sun will power up in a week.
Separating aspects show things already past. This chart has a separating Moon sextile Jupiter, trine Uranus, and triseptiles to both Neptune and Pluto, showing the Grand Irrationality influence in the recent past. Recently we’ve all hit “forks in the road of our destiny” and now must be willing to follow through on those decisions. Other separating aspects include Mercury trine Jupiter and square Saturn, Venus sesquisquare Jupiter, novile Neptune, and conjunct Pluto, Sun trine Jupiter and sextile Uranus, and Mars biseptile both Jupiter and Saturn and semisquare Pluto.
So Mars triggered the ongoing Jupiter triseptile Saturn recently, showing even more important “fork in the road” developments wherever we have Aries, Gemini, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces in our charts. Many new important social developments have just taken place that will take a turn in late March.
So Mars just triggered nonrational aspects with Jupiter and Saturn, even as the Moon shows the Grand Irrationality has been activated in the recent past. To remind you, the Grand Irrationality is a long wave irrational atmospheric field generated at this time in history. It began around 1992-1995, and will last a few more years.
It’s why there’s such a hard edge to things, and a lot of obsessive-compulsive behavior dominates in society. Certainly there’s much that makes absolutely no sense right now.
At this time, the seven hot zones most impacted by the Grand Irrationality right now are 9-13 Capricorn, 1-5 Pisces, 23-27 Aries, 14-18 Gemini, 6-10 Leo, 27 Virgo- 1 Libra, and 18-22 Scorpio. Please check out recent articles on this long wave configuration to learn more.
Saturn is the worldly ruler of the Sun, while Uranus is the spiritual ruler. The Sun rules the Moon. That makes the aspects between the Sun, Saturn, and Uranus especially important in this Lunation. In this case, the Sun and Moon can help us focus the extremely powerful and beneficial Saturn energies over the next two weeks.
So this integrating, synthesizing Solar influence will have a Scorpio and Aries backdrop energy, making Mars in Aquarius also a player in what’s happening behind the scenes over the next two weeks. This implies that we’ll all be given a chance to “pick up and deliver spiritual power” in some focused, managed way. This is a time to sharpen your wits, see things from a higher, broader integrated view, and get ready to plug some activities in very quickly in the near future. This will be especially beneficial to those with planets anywhere in Aquarius, Aries, Gemini, Libra, and mid-Sagittarius.
In this chart, Neptune is the only planet in its own sign. As noted in an earlier article in this series, the rest of the planets have as their final dispositors Mars in Aquarius in mutual reception to Saturn in Scorpio and Uranus in Aries, a very strong influence. You can find out more about this phenomenon that strengthens each of the two planets by going to the article Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
So Just What Was the New Moon Theme for this Period?
Remember that the qualities of the Full Moon express whatever new directions we were shown at the previous New Moon. You will recall its theme was about organizing or reorganizing the potential futures of last month, and surrender to achieve victory. We have been going into a deeper faith, and grow through seeing the structural strengths or weaknesses in plans and ideas, finding the “way within to outer success.” This period shows us shortcuts to achieving our intention where we can accomplish a lot as a result of Mercury now occupying the same degree that Mars did at the New Moon.
From the article:
This New Moon in Capricorn is pragmatic, organizing, and will show us how well we are doing what we’re doing as we move away from what is known and familiar. See who is and is not part of your “tribe”, and if in doubt, help them “back to shore.” This marks a point where the Venus lessons of last April, May, and June will open us to new truths, new opportunities, or new life adventures. The next four weeks will throw everyone into a concentrated self-reorganization within a larger group context, help us in the next stage of letting go of fear in all its forms, and help us achieve our goals through a) seeing a clear vision of what is to be accomplished, b) getting a step-plan that helps us achieve our goals, and c) figuring out the right time to begin the effort. That will yield a quickening that can get us through the tunnel, and see the light at the other end as the reward for making the passage, and not a train coming right at us!
This time will open up new understanding, new connection, new work, new authority, and new relationships. There is much power available for those who get a plan, but keep in mind that with Saturn in Scorpio, we’re still in a long term elimination-regeneration phase of our lives and work. Saturn continues to set up situations where we’ll all be introduced into more complex, intense, and/or deep relationships. The next 4 weeks will continue our process of going deeper into the vision glimpsed the last New Moon, and help us understand through practical efforts who we’re related to spiritually, and who understands us (and who doesn’t!)
The general theme is that through our willingness to take responsibility, our willingness to organize or re-organize what we do and how we do it, and our willingness to penetrate to a deeper level of understanding within that assures us outer forms of success, that “willingness” will ensure forms of victory, even when it seems like defeat.
I figure a brief discussion over at a recent FB comment stream with a member of this community might help explain more. I stated this New Moon involves “An apparent defeat we must go through in order to find out there's a party going on in our honor around the corner. One of the primary symbols is ‘A train entering a tunnel’ - another is ‘a drowning person being rescued.’”
I made a crack about the light at the end of the tunnel might be daylight, and not another train coming right at us. Someone then commented that we might need to find a practical solution if a train’s coming right at us, and I replied “If everything is composed of light particles, then if we find the right point of view and adapt to that frequency, we become translucent. At that point even the densest train can run through us and we dance with the wind.”
Then someone brought up “doing the Saturn work,” and I responded “Shadows occur when light hits a dense object. The less dense we can be, the more translucent we are. We can always dance with the wind, even when/if we're dense. It's the train we need to look out for. Too much Saturn and we become leaden; too little and we have no "skin and bones" as a container to keep all our organs inside!”
Continuing the metaphor, Saturn in Scorpio is like bone regeneration, or the elimination of all in our skin and bones that would block our humanitarian instincts, whether toward ourselves or others. We’ve already turned the corner, and many have already done the hard elimination or reconstruction work that position indicates we’re all going though in our own ways and times.
Here’s more:
A New Moon sets the seed forms for what the following 4 weeks will demonstrate. This Lunation falls at 22 Capricorn. While I've given you a sense of this degree up to now, this is where we go into depth.
The symbol is "A general accepting defeat gracefully.” According to Rudhyar this degree is one of “apparent defeat that spells real spiritual victory,” “Bowing to custom,” and “Conquest through conformity to established norm.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves "the realization that one may grow through defeat as well as, and perhaps more than, through success.” He states this degree is about our ability to turn “apparent external defeat into an inner spiritual achievement.”
So here we must find willingness to find our inner integrity that brings forth our inner strength. He says it falls in the span of Dependence, and it's the second degree of the emotional-cultural level of the scene of Group Performance in the Act of Capitalization. So for this month we’re being taught how to find strength despite apparent failures, and the ability to turn apparent defeat into victories.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of “the immediate opportunism by which the human will develops its real power, and of its underlying and uncompromising loyalty to the long-range ends in view.” This is about effective practicality expressing “grace of spirit,” and how we “exalt our destiny as (we) find its roots established in values” that we and others can accept.
He offers us the keyword of EXPEDIENCY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is "a genius for learning from experience and transforming setback into accomplishment.”
So we enter a time of winning others over, or being won over by others, through the grace and practicality required by circumstances. Here we bring strength and victory out of apparent defeat (past, present, or future). Because it’s in Capricorn, we’ll see the light of willingness, responsibility, duty, and organization in doing what must be done within a larger group setup.
The planets in this chart are in a Splay Jones pattern. This Jones pattern indicates widely spread out ideas and activities, some of which may not fit real well with others. Stay at the hub of the wheel of your life and affairs, and if things seem to skew every which way, find the triangulation that helps keep everything in perspective and moving forward toward an integrated vision.
With 4 planets in Air, 2 in Fire, 2 in Water, and 2 in Earth, we have an emphasis on ideas and relationships, with a great balance between inspiration, feelings, and practicality. Since Air and Earth are “cool” elements and Fire and Water are “hot” elements, things may be a bit cooler and more pragmatic over the next two weeks.
Venus in Capricorn leads the Sun in this Lunation. That makes the area in our charts where we have late Capricorn of extra importance, since it promises a focus on mature and responsible relationships that are the reward for our courage before now.
More on how Uranus Square Pluto Is Ramping Up Radical Energies!
As I’ve mentioned off and on over the past 2+ years, we’re all learning to manage the “out of control” energies of Uranus square Pluto. I’ve discussed this aspect at length over quite a few articles in the archives. Use the site google box to find out more about this years’ long disruptive revolutionary influence. Welcome to the 21st century of upheaval, transformation, and titanic collisions between a new world being born and an old age that’s digging in even as it’s dying.
That square represents the ongoing revolution of our times, with innovations and pioneering energies in conflict with restrictive and controlling power structures. We’ll be dealing with this for a few years, and it promises to make this year and next very “electric and eclectic,” moving the world through a revolution unlike any seen since the 1960s!!
Uranus is on a degree of learning about who we are by getting clear about who we’re not. We’re now all about to begin a “primal effort toward selfhood,” so follow the restlessness into an “unimpeachable self-direction.” We’re now moving into a different social orientation for many years, so continue to learn how to concentrate to see the whole picture, as this shows us how to externalize our higher Self in new individual ways.
It’s going to be the major theme for 2013, and given the aspects in play in this chart, there will be some adjustments to, and furthering of, recent productive understandings resulting from previous aspects in the New Moon chart governing this period. Keep purifying your life by seeing how to bring beauty out of “wilderness,” and be willing to refine whatever you need to in order to understand deeper forces at work.
Like previous Lunations, this one will continue to free us from old perspectives and views so we can see our part to play using more cosmic or universal truths and values. Here we must take the initiative to tune into the invisible world and our helpers there, and organize our own and their energies to repair something.
In the recent past, we’ve all been challenged to learn to concentrate to align with a deeper and higher power, and now we can enjoy playing a new role and living in new ways. We are still being challenged to get beyond fear, see things from the past differently, and find relief through expressing the Higher Self that’s been “cut and polished” in past months. We can grow into a larger role when we’re confronted by old Pluto roles, coercions, and heavy-handed corrosive behavior. We can use this square in two big ways, both now and into the future.
We can exercise good Pluto function to put the brakes on negative Uranian manifestations, and good Uranus function to put the brakes on negative Pluto manifestations. Look to the harmonizing aspects to each to show which is building and which one is the release point for those energies. In this chart, Uranus is specializing many things in everyone’s lives, so go with the new rather than the established.
The Cusp of Where The Age of Pisces Gives Way to the Age of Aquarius
As I've mentioned in other Lunation articles, a major factor in this season is that Neptune now stands VERY close to "the cusp of the Age." Beginning February 2011, it danced between its stationary direct transformational degree of 29 Aquarius when we began the end game of a collective transfiguration, and 1 Pisces, the cusp of where the Age of Pisces gives way to the Age of Aquarius. We’re collectively there as a human race, and Neptune has been showing us glimpses into the greater Way, Truth, and Life that we share together, expressed through the sign of compassion, forgiveness, and unity of feeling-awareness in the great “Ocean of Life.”
Neptune in very early Pisces has major implications for humanity as a whole. I’ve discussed this phenomenon of Neptune dancing back and forth between early Pisces and late Aquarius in many previous articles, opening the collective consciousness to the energies of this transitional period, this “time cusp” between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius. This happened throughout 2011 and 2012. When Neptune finally went stationary direct at 1 Pisces in late 2012, it marked a platform from which humanity will confront many ghosts of the past centuries over the next couple of years.
In the larger precessional Age, our world is at 1 Pisces right now. Thanks to prior transits of both Neptune and Chiron to this degree, many of us have collectively awakened to a vast connectedness with all Life and all Time. This degree is one of joyously rallying as we begin the closing of a long cycle.
Dr. Marc Edmund Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, points out that the first degree of Pisces, "the cusp of the Age," is "a symbol of full maturity in (humanity's) social estate, with an emphasis on the group integrity" facilitating each to develop their special patterns. This degree is about a willingness for each of us to do our part in the larger "common ideals of a community life."
Here we refine our ambition through "a consistent generosity toward the aims of others with a real intensity of effort directed toward its own ends." The keyword is COMMERCE, and when positive, this degree "is an exceptional capacity for organizing the converging and conflicting interests of many people in practical arrangements of mutual benefit."
So this is where humanity as a whole is at right now. I believe we will finally enter the Age of Aquarius sometime between 2045-2070, when we all will see the concrete manifestations of Aquarian patterns that were awakened by Uranus and have been dreamed into collective consciousness by Neptune during these planets' movement through late Aquarius. (Please also check out part one of that series since it elaborates on the transition between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius.)
This is a time to see a bigger picture, and be creative in moving through what’s breaking down and what’s coming into clear focus. Keep alert to others who share your various Ray and sub-Ray frequencies. With Saturn in Scorpio, this is a great time to get focused, eliminating all that is irrelevant to your long term growth patterns. Or perhaps you can use the energy to regenerate in some way so that you “take command of the Great Work” and perfect your various physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual “vehicles” to express exactly what you’re here to do.
What's the proper sequence at present of deciding, feeling, and thinking, and an Overview of the Lunation
As a process of moving through events, first get clear about what you’re feeling and/or experiencing, and make decisions and actions accordingly. Then find the information you need to get a clear picture. This is about learning to follow a feeling or hunch or experience into facts, decisions, and actions, after which we must find new information, new understanding, and new views. It’s a great time to learn and/or teach through anecdote.
So feel what have to be felt, and if necessary name what you’re experiencing or feeling, and then allow those impressions to lead you to a simple fact that allows you to act on that feeling. Then after you’ve decided or acted, then go get new understanding or new idea about how to view or interpret or communicate something. After you’ve felt your way into a different idea set, or gotten newer, more up to date information as a result of that decision or action, the these new ideas or views will naturally lead to the next set of feelings and experiences.
To sum up, this Lunation will help us see and experience life on much broader, more future oriented levels that will involve the breakdown of old forms so that new materials can come to the surface of the life. It will be a time to turn away from lesser duties, limitations, and responsibilities, and find ways to simply and enjoyably make decisions to integrate our lives in ways that are much more in line with what we like and what we’re comfortable with.
As usual, while Jupiter is in Gemini we’ll continue to learn more and more, expanding the truths and new potential futures opened while liberating us from ghosts of the past that were indicated in the 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse. As Jupiter is now direct, we’re on the threshold of being liberated once and for all, free to embrace new ways of thinking, communicating, and externalizing what we know.
Relax into playing whatever roles seem natural on the basis of previous purifications and transformations. Be receptive to illuminations showing you who you could be once you’re free of obsolete considerations and get clear about who you are and who you’re not. Eliminate to regenerate, do not clutch at old feelings, and look below the surface to get clear about how and what to reorganize.
See this as a time where you are free to express a higher, more refined way of interacting with others. This offers us “more perfect forms” that we can imitate which as we do so will become the patterns of future interactions. Keep clearing out old psychic sludge, see how to use “knowledge and skill to meet the demands of a time yet to come,” and take a look around to see what you’ll need in the way of goods and tools to make your vision of the future concrete.
This continues a new freedom and adventure that will fill the void created by the Eclipses of 2011. This solidifies a life renewal, a greater love, a deeper wisdom, and a new understanding of truth and mind. This Lunation may be difficult for some, but it breaks any stuck stuff loose so that we can move into a future pattern.
Release old views and interpretations and go deeper. Embrace the spirit of exploration that allows you to see the adventure of discovery as leading you to depth understanding about the relationship of the material to the Spiritual, the form to the energy behind and within all forms.
As with previous months, I’ll remind you not to take the larger tensions, pressures, and friction personally. Though the larger atmosphere is tense and conflicted, it’s really only the play of invisible forces leading us all to new forms of individualization that will block old shadows of control mechanisms that are useless anyway.
As I’ve noted in previous Full Moon articles, since all shadows result from light hitting a dense object, it’s better to become as translucid as possible to dispel lurking shadows. And if you must look at the shadows, then refocus on the object being illuminated, since that’s the source of the shadow.
Find the correct 4 angles of illuminating whatever you want to focus on, and all shadows will be dispelled. Then you’re seeing things with an illuminated mind, and can act accordingly.

Robert,
I know you are busy, but thank you for the 3 different segments for the lunation.

Thanks for the thorough information as always Robert. I am feeling very bright and good at my center even though nothing is clear yet. I am a little apprehensive as I have been having a lot of saturn transits lately and now as per above my natal saturn at late cap (natally in yod with mars/nth node in late leo and sun at 0 cancer) I really hope I havent avoided anything from his lessons, I have been happier with what he revealed while conj natal neptune this time compared to last time, yet well there's always that sense of responsibility he hammers in that does trigger a little trepitation as to whether one has done good or not, useful for remaining humble yet...hmm still uneasy, its been a very tough 14 years :(

I've read you for a long time, and now I'm trying to understand Uranus square Saturn, as it was in my natal chart...Uranus on my ascendant (Cancer) and Mercury/Sun/Saturn/Neptune in Libra, in opposition to Jupiter Midhaeaven in Aries. I'm starting to feel their energies and how it has influenced my life till now. (61yrs-that last Saturn return was a doozy!) Idealistic Revolutionary / Artistic Creator Mystic.
Thank You!

Brilliant three piece post. It is so helpful to have a "map" or a beacon that helps us understanding and guiding what needs to be guided and pay attention to, and what to bin and discard. Always helpful to have a guide or pointer while walking our own path.
Dance with the wind.... Become translucid, consider the object that produces the shadows....
Cheers,
Nic

Dear Robert: Thanks so much for your continual wonderous articles. Your postings are very much appreciated.
I feel some anxiety about this calendar year as the Pluto/Uranus square will be exact, cross, backup over and recross my natal Cap IC square natal Aries Sun/Desc conjunction.
One way I've noticed this affecting my relationships with others is being able
to hear (I am mostly clairaudient)not only what they say aloud, but what they think/feel about what they are saying.
It's an ability I've always had, but it was easy to ignore or brush off until now.

Robert,
Thank you, for a great article!
I have asked alot of questions in
the past, but dont think I have ever expressed my
gratitude for your work, and this site.
I am thankful to have access to your knowledge/wisdom
and appreciate your "service" :-)
Namaste..

Just had mine looked at and big changes are mooted this year with a bumpy ride. I've decided to start the ball rolling myself.

Clarification and more refined ways of interacting. Virgo shouts yaaaay and alleluia already!!! I like it. Definitely takes some focus though.

That thing about saturn in scorpio (natal placement) and elimination. I was really confused because somehow I was societally programmed that life was all about more more more. Getting "ahead", getting stuff, getting status, while I was struggling just to "get by" in that arena. Failure. But I continued to amp up and jump out of my skin to comply with the programming. I realize now that it is more about releasing for me. Getting down to it. Almost as if it is something I've always known but lost contact with.
I do look forward to the gemini moon (never thought I'd say that) on the yod point as you wrote about. But today's sagitarian moon opposite the yod point is really pushing me on home. Could be the aspects to the moon, too. It's a good thing. More clarity. And more work to be done, like a new job.
