In 2012 we lost more musical greats than usual, including some of the greatest Soul bassists ever to play a note, and more than a few who were prototypes in their styles. I found a great 4 minute tribute to them on the web.
For your enjoyment courtesy of the NY Times, The Music They Made by William Ferguson. Extremely well done, expertly edited, it made me happy and sad at the same time. Etta James, Levon Helm, Ed Cassidy, Duck Dunn, and so many more. Aum and blessings. Rock and roll heaven just added a massive amount of talent to its "helluva band"....
It'll be worth the 4 minutes of your time to pay respects to some really great ones who made a huge musical difference in our lives!

Notice Levon Helm in there - worth listening to in himself.
