Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon in Pisces indicates a time where we will see how we’ve succeeded in meeting the requirements of entering into a new life, and our dreams, meditations, and affirmations will have greater-than-usual power. With Mercury still retrograde, we take a new look and listen to “the call that awakened us” to some form of life renewal at the last New Moon.
This New Moon in Pisces is idealizing, generalizing, opens a vaster feeling field, and will show us how to visualize a future that we want to see made manifest. Relationships will take on an added importance as we close out the end of the end and prepare for a beginning just around the corner. Though there will some sense of emotional finality or even heaviness during the next month, it’s also stabilizing, and will help us say goodbye as we prepare to quicken into an entirely new life experience that has its roots in the new archetypes that came forth in between late 2009 and early 2011.
The next four weeks will throw everyone into a fluid new life order and focus wherever we have Pisces in our charts, while at the same time helping us show our skill in “hitting the mark.” This is one of the most highly specializing New Moons in a long time, with major gifts helping us good deeper into experience, cut to the chase, and put out whatever we value so we can overcome some duality by making a leap of faith, either stabilizing something or understanding something.,
Saturn continues to set up situations where we’ll all be introduced into more complex, intense, and/or deep relationships. We are now launched fully into the lessons of 2013 involving us meeting others at the highest possible level of social interaction rather than with an “everyday” type of attitude.
The next 4 weeks will continue our process of going deeper into the vision glimpsed the last three New Moons, feeling a larger connection to others and our world. Things are concentrating, preparing to open up quickly once the inner planets conjunct Uranus in Aries and electrify our individuality into manifestation. This will be a time when we finish preparing for a new set of initiatives coming sooner rather than later!
This distributive and experientially expansive New Moon occurs at 22 Pisces on March 11, 12:51 pm PDT, 3:51 pm EDT, 7:51 pm Greenwich (March 12 in Pakistan and points east). When a Lunation is on one of the angles of a chart, it is said to be particularly powerful. Among the cities covered in this column, this month the Lunation is culminating on the west coast of North America,, setting in Rio and Lisbon, on the nadir in Pakistan and India, and rising in Tokyo, eastern Australia and New Zealand. This Lunation shows early Cancer through mid-Leo rising across North America.
The Lunation finds 6 Cancer rising in Santa Monica, 13 Cancer in Vancouver, 18 Leo in Montreal, 13 Leo in Washington DC, 27 Leo in Rio, 7 Libra in Lisbon, 13 Libra in London, 22 Libra in Berlin, 7 Scorpio in Moscow, 2 Scorpio in Sofia, and 28 Scorpio rising in Johannesburg.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 16 Sagittarius in Abbottabad (March 12), 22 Sagittarius in New Delhi, 1 Capricorn in Trivandrum, 1 Aquarius in Hong Kong, 26 Aquarius in Tokyo, 21 Aquarius in Perth, 16 Pisces in Melbourne, 22 Pisces in Brisbane, 10 Aries in Wellington, and 21 Taurus rising on Maui (March 11).
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 4 weeks.
In this New Moon at 22 Pisces, Mercury is 8 Pisces retrograde, Venus is 18 Pisces, Mars is 30 Pisces, Jupiter is 9 Gemini, Saturn is 12 Scorpio retrograde, Uranus is 8 Aries, Neptune is 4 Pisces, Pluto is 12 Capricorn, TransPluto is 30 Leo, Chiron is 11 Pisces, and the NN is 19 Scorpio.
This is the tenth in a sequence of New Moons that fall in the sign preceding the Sun of the following Full Moon. In other words, this New Moon in Pisces will have a Full Moon in Aries and Libra. This reverses the sequence of the 20 months preceding the 2012 Gemini New Moon that all had the New Moon in the same sign as the subsequent Full Moon.
That pattern is now reversed, but will shift back to “normal” a few months down the road. I explain this phenomenon and what it means in the Full Moon articles, so I’ll elaborate on this new beginning that reverses “the natural order of things” in the next Full Moon articles coming in about two weeks.
The New Moons and Full Moons are “God’s footprints in time.” Each shows the next in the 12 phases of how things come to be each year. The cycle could be described as follows: Life energy is initiated in Aries, substantiated in Taurus, explored in Gemini, grounded in Cancer, renewed and creatively expressed in Leo, refined and ordered in Virgo, balanced in Libra, purified in Scorpio, expanded in Sagittarius, organized in Capricorn, solidified into a vision in Aquarius, and ended/perpetuated in Pisces.
This New Moon at 22 Pisces, like other recent Lunations, puts the focus on learning, communicating, discovering, and perceiving new ideas and ways of relating to others due to Jupiter being one of the primary handles of the “Bucket” Jones pattern at 9 Gemini. Due to some strange positioning of the planets, Saturn is also a handle for the “Bucket,” with a different planetary mix offering different energies. More on this in part 3 of this New Moon series.
Much that we focus on during the next 4 weeks will help us to a new understanding, a new view, a new way of organizing all the information and potential opened in previous New Moons with Jupiter as the handle. Due to Saturn’s influence, we’re also eliminating and going deeper in all our relationships, getting rid of all that we don’t want nor need to take with us into the future that’s coming at us like an express train!
Because of Jupiter in Gemini now moving forward, we’re rapidly finishing the next phase of our liberation from ghosts of the past going on since the 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse. When Jupiter retrograded over the degree of that eclipse in late November and early December, it accelerated the eclipse effect, so we’ve recently shed even more ghosts of the past.
This process is nearing a larger stage of completion and will be done by June. You can find out more about what induced us to shed the ghosts of the past these past 21 months by checking out the articles at the bottom of this one.
A Little More About the Past As Prologue
When Venus first transited the Gemini zone of the Grand Irrationality in the third and fourth week of April 2012, it gave us a Venusian lens through which to view what needed ending, or what had been ended since the Gemini Solar Eclipse of June 2011, which also fell in the Gemini zone of that powerful configuration. We went through the second phase of that influence with more “irrational” destiny-producing developments (which could be good or bad, depending) when it next occupied 14-18 Gemini, as well as when Mercury and the Sun also transited this zone, between May 31 and June 10, 2012.
We saw further major developments related to these “forks in the road of destiny” allowing us to be liberated from the ghosts of the past in the last half of July 2012. Now Jupiter is and will continue to be close to the Eclipse degree through early April 2013. This indicates a “final exam” time that will get set up in early April, with testing done by mid-June.
Jupiter helped us dislodge many things in December 2012 when it was part of a very powerful Yod, or Finger of God focusing Saturn sextile Pluto through each making a quincunx to Jupiter in Gemini. We’ll get another round of “expansion through sacrifice” tests in late March 2012 when Jupiter is again involved in Yods, or Fingers of God,” with Saturn and Pluto (like December 2012), but with the additional interlocking Yod created by the planets in Aries sextile Jupiter and all quincunx to Saturn. This is an intense “spiritualizing” influence, so prepare for major developments!
The Grand Irrationality
The reason this section is a recurring feature in the Lunation articles is because it was set into long term play by the 2011 Solar Eclipse, which is triggered each time any transiting planet occupies any of the 7 zones of the Grand Irrationality. Jupiter in Gemini is now moving forward, and is setting long wave Eclipse effects into motion through April 2013.
The Grand Irrationality is finally NOT a direct influence during this Lunation due to no planetary aspects setting it off!! Enjoy the breather, since we went through a long string of Lunations involving planets triggering the Grand Irrationality in 2012. And of course, it will be activated as the transits move through any and all of the 7 “hot zones” created by Neptune septile Pluto. The next big cluster of transits that sets the Grand Irrationality into motion will begin the second week of April, making it a HUGE influence in the next New Moon chart when Jupiter is also spot on the Gemini zone!
Though it’s not in major play as a function of the New Moon, a bit of explanation about this thing called “the Grand Irrationality” may serve to help new readers understand why everything continues to be so weird. As I’ve explained many times before, the Grand Irrationality is a long wave non-rational influence that has put everyone on Earth on the unceasing edge of major choice and change.
Everyone has been confronting inner compulsions, continual choices that seem to have a major impact on our destiny, and occasionally irrational behaviors in others or external conditions. It is why things seem to have an unending hard edge, why so many choices are continually thrown in our faces that require immediate attention, and why reason seems to fail at critical moments of decision.
When the Grand Irrationality is in play, it’s a time when things don’t have to make sense. Get used to it, since we’ve been living with it for about 18 years, and will be in play for a few more years to come.
The only thing that matters is that we learn how to ride this ever-changing wave of very strange and weird human experience, and not get lost in our own obsessions, compulsions, and the general irrationality of our times. I recently posted a thorough explanation of this phenomenon in 21st Century Astrology – What is the Grand Irrationality and Why is Everything So Weird? Please re-visit that article to understand more about this recurring energy affecting the collective atmosphere.
More on how we’re still influenced by the 2011 Solar Eclipse in Gemini
The 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse that triggered the Grand Irrationality for years to come has liberated all of us from some elements and ghosts of our past, freeing us from old preconceptions and chains of mental slavery. That intense activation of June 2011 has shown as hectic intense bursts that often made no sense during the past 21 months when coupled with the current “off and on” patterns of other planets in irrational relationships. The rapidly fading Jupiter triseptile is only one example of other “non-rational” energy fields created at this time.
The Gemini Solar Eclipse of 2011 has challenged us since then to find ways to liberate ourselves from unhelpful views and attitudes while staying on track with the new elements arising from the numerous conjunctions to Jupiter in Aries of March through May 2012 that have presented themselves over the past 2 years. In this Lunation, Jupiter continues to bring us information, understanding, higher perspectives, and different Spiritual awareness while it occupies Gemini.
When Jupiter went direct in motion December 2011, it launched our 2012 Jupiterian adventure. We finished substantiating and confirming some things the first half of 2012, and since then we’ve all had opportunities to open to larger ideas, larger opportunities, larger understanding, and larger futures.
We acquired some of the assets we needed while Jupiter was in Taurus from June 2011 through June 2012, and stabilized a growth pattern. We did a review and consolidated these things the last half of 2011, and were able to move forward in 2012, even though this involved multiple Mercury, Venus, and Mars retrograde periods through the first 7 months of the year.
Things became more solid and stable between February and June 2012, after which new worlds and new discoveries opened when Jupiter entered Gemini. Now we’ve gotten a lot of information about what we need to learn or understand related to the new archetypes we began to live in 2010-2011, and moved through major turning points related to The Grand Irrationality in August and November 2012 that primed the pump for the major league changes coming in just a few weeks.
Jupiter retrograde from October 2012 through January 2013 gave us new insights into new knowledge and awareness of how to incorporate the discoveries since June 2012 into our lives. Now that Jupiter has gone direct, we continue our emotional, social, and cultural discoveries, having finished a review of how we’re relating to energy and whether we’re being passive or active in how we use it to steer a course to our liking. Because it is direct in motion and speeding up, we have a favorable tide with which to launch our new ideas of how to practice skills to find that which sustains our efforts.
In part 2, we’ll explore more about the influences of this distributive New Moon, and the importance of Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron as we stand on the cusp between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius.
To learn more about what’s coming now that Jupiter has gone direct, here are two articles that address that exact thing. At the bottom of part 1, there’s a link to what I wrote when it went retrograde last October about what we could expect these past few months.

Hi Robert, great piece thanks once more. Your write about "the ghosts of the past above" and it makes me curious about your view of the "paranormal"... ie what's your take on the existence of "actual" ghosts etc.
Best,
JP

Well I'm finally ready to start my blog and WOW, Jupiter is exactly conjunct my Mars at 9 Gemini. Too funny also cause it will be music oriented and Neptune is conjunct my Saturn at 4 Pisces (in H10). But should I wait til Mercury goes direct to go live? Also, have you ever wondered about best transits under which to play the lottery? Uranian transits, perhaps?

Hi JP - Too big a subject for a comment stream, though it would make a good class when I can get my webinars up and running. Briefly, we have a physical, emotional, and mental body. Our inhabiting these throughout our lives creates vibrational patterns which persist with their own "half life" once we check out and leave the building.
There is such a things as a "physical ghost," as well as an "astral ghost," as well as a "mental ghost." Over time these dissipate at varying speeds depending on how high we are or aren't when we check out. Cremation destroys the physical ghost. It can also kill the astral and mental ghosts if we're aware enough a) not to feed them before we go, and b) we do practices before we go that will dissolve them after we go. Thought forms can be created that can "uncreate" other thought forms.
Best to start practicing while we're here and now, since it takes lifetimes before we're conscious enough to know what we're doing and why. Or not. It all depends on our diligence in "realization, application, utilization" techniques. Again, this is very short and deserves a much greater exploration. You can also reference my article on the planes of consciousness, since that explains something about how the lower triad corresponds to the upper. You might say the greater the Spirit, the less the physical ghost is real. The greater the Soul, the less the astral ghost is real. The greater the Higher Mind, the less the mental ghost is real. Only the Eternal persists beyond the impermanence of the body, feelings, and mind.
Hi Diana - Time for your Mars to adapt to multiple lines of effective functioning. Mercury RX can be a good time to be a spokesperson for whatever, or a transmitter of other people's work, or appealing to the subconsciousness of others. The Moon is probably a more important indicator of how any blog will develop over time.
"Contest analysis" was one of my early astrological disciplines. Got very good at predicting the outcome of sporting events. The answer is that there are transits that could produce unearned winnings, but only to the degree that karma allows. We can cultivate what we can, but often our energies would be better directed toward more productive endeavors. Uranus transits are too transpersonal to be involved in such mundane things as gambling.
Here it is important to remember that a price is ALWAYS paid for just about whatever comes our way. We may or may not understand the "cause" of what comes and when, but everything in life has a price, for good or ill. That's why I quit telling people when to gamble almost 40 years ago. I used to make others a lot of money, but the overall result was strengthening their desire-mind, selfishness, and greed. These are not good things to be a part of.

Thanks Robert. I agree with all you've written, esp. karmic/destined paths that we ourselves all choose before we're born - just thought it would be a 'fun' question - mom is always playing the lottery and doing her affirmations, lol.

Hi Diana - Well, I don't mean to be a spoilsport, but dealing with gambling, gamblers, and those who wanted to make a LOT of money off my knowledge (and did so, many years ago) was part of my learning discrimination. It was tough at the time, but now I understand that it's a karma that only a few are "privileged" to get to do. In that sense, you're on the mark. Do it "for fun," or as we used to say in Hell's Kitchen, fuggedabouddit.
