My cat-teacher and road partner of 18 years has just died.
Yuri (18 April 1995 - 9 April 2013) was my good friend and equal in many ways, and a remarkable Being. Intelligent, friendly, popular, talkative with a HUGE vocabulary, about as non-violent as a cat can be, he was caring, sensitive, and a good sport, given he and I spent about 25,000 miles together in cars and trucks throughout his life.
I and his many friends will miss his physical presence. I know he’s doing much better on the other side than he has been on this side over the past year, so Aum and blessings. Still, his death has left a huge void in my life, even as I know some part of his huge spirit will be with me always.
Now it’s time for me to go into another world for a while. Articles will continue to post, but I am in another land for the next week.
If you want to see what he looked like, please go to my Facebook page and you'll see two pictures. One with him and me together staring at the camera, the other one I took years ago in front of a Buddy Holly album jacket.
Aum Namah Shivaya! Namaste.
ps - If you've emailed me recently and I haven't answered, this is why. I'll be back doing emails in a few days. Aum and blessings.
I am very sorry, Robert. I remember hearing his sweet voice over the phone. Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing this most tender moment with us here in the Cantina. May Yuri now have the rest that he so richly deserves as the Grand Architect of the Universe has called him from labor to rest. We are with you in these trying times. Aum Nam Shiva.

My sympathies are with you. I have never quite managed to fill the hole left in my heart when my kitty died about 10 years ago.
I will leave you a little photo album of an elderly Japanese woman and her cat.

Hi all - A brief check-in.
A well-wisher sent me a quote: 'I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.' ― Jean Cocteau.
I replied: It's not like he was a youthful tragedy, and as such, I got very, very used to him being around. It's one more time I am reminded that to be grateful to have learned early on, which is not to postpone for even an hour expressing our love for another. He and I had 18 years of solid 24/7 love.
It leads me to say: Feel who and what you love and send your love to them. None of it is ever wasted. Never delay until tomorrow the chance to give and receive and feel and know love. Whoever you love, tell them so.
Death is a fact of life, and Love is stronger than death.

Sooooo relate, I just put Moondoggie down after 19 years together. He was my guardian and constant companion. He would thought-form me to open the door, get more food, change the litter........I could go on, but you had one of those too and the loss is immeasurable. Yes, he comes back and I'm glad he's not suffering but it isn't the same and I wake up in the middle of the night and feel him on the bed and just cry.

Robert..a void in your life now after so many years with your faithful companion teaching you caring, loving, organization and being all along a life partner. Our familiars- how fortunate we are to be chosen by our loyal friends of the cat and dog kingdom. Tears fall and they should when we lose a constant companion and we must go on without them. Condolences on your loss.

Much love and Blessings to both you and Yuri in this time of grief, cats are indeed such a huge source of inspiration, IMO, still I am sure he will scale the area until he finds another way to inspire you from the other room. healing thoughts.

A travellin cat. How fun. The Queen does not appreciate being transported. She turns 20 this year. I know she is old, and understanding that, I always think I am ready for the departure but I never am. Her twin brother passed 2 years ago and it ripped my heart out. Didn't expect that rationally.
My condolences on your loss.

I have always enjoyed the souls of animals. Many dogs, cats, but 2 very speical cats, Hobit, a tabby of 17 years, for so many years after his passing he came to me in dreams with answers to questions and problems. A very special horse. I believe we come across souls in the life form as animals, that we connect with on a level as with no other soul, a very special bond. Also in my experience I note that many angels come into our lives in the incarnation of animals. (For many years I have helped "persons" move into the light & cross over.) My last connection was with a very special soul, Lacey, a black Lab in that incarnation, she left that form in 2008. She is still with me in spirit, we talk, but it is not the same as when we were both in body. The desire to touch....There are no words to describe our connection. I wish you much Love & Light, know Yuri is around.....KNOW the LOVE will always be with you.
