We have a New Moon coming tomorrow! Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon in Gemini indicates a time of great expansion, sensitivity, adaptation, and new directions. We can find “seed knowledge” that can open up multiple doors, opportunities, and show us major components of our Life Mystery.
This New Moon in Gemini is active, versatile, quickening, expansive, and will give us seed knowledge and techniques for externalizing what we know. We’re launched solidly into the energies that will predominate through June, July, and August, with echoes lasting until August 2014. We’ve already gotten clear signals about how feelings are flowing or not, and this New Moon will reveal elements of the Mystery we’ve been in as well as searching during the current Uranus exactly square Pluto.
This Lunation is the newest expansive reorienting phase of the new life experience that has its roots in the new archetypes that came forth in between late 2009 and early 2011, when there were a series of conjunctions in Aries that opened our lives to new futures. These long wave pulses were recently renewed in March and April and stabilized in May.
We are now able to explore and externalize facets of those renewed beginnings, and have already begun to shift internal allegiances away from old cares and concerns into new ones. This New Moon both anticipates what is to come, and expands what has already begun to grow.
This distributive, opening, and expanding New Moon occurs at 19 Gemini (actually 18 degrees, 0 minutes, 47 seconds) on June 8, 8:56 am PDT, 12:56 pm EDT, 5:56 pm Greenwich Daylight (June 9 in Tokyo, east Oz, and NeZ.) The Lunation finds 30 Cancer rising in Santa Monica, 5 Leo in Vancouver, 5 Virgo in Toronto, 10 Virgo in Montreal, and 6 Virgo in Washington DC. We see rising signs of 4 Libra in Rio, 30 Libra in Lisbon, 3 Scorpio in London, 12 Scorpio in Berlin, 24 Scorpio in Sofia, 26 Scorpio in Moscow, and 27 Sagittarius rising in Johannesburg.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 12 Capricorn in Abbottabad, 20 Capricorn in New Delhi, 28 Capricorn in Trivandrum, 27 Aquarius in Phnom Penh, 5 Pisces in Hong Kong, 10 Aries in Tokyo (June 9), 15 Pisces in Perth, 10 Aries in Melbourne (June 9), 18 Aries in Brisbane, 3 Taurus in Wellington, and 21 Gemini rising on Maui (June 8).
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 4 weeks.
In this New Moon at 19 Gemini, Mercury is 12 Cancer, Venus is 7 Cancer, Mars is 6 Gemini, Jupiter is 27 Gemini, Saturn is 6 Scorpio retrograde, Uranus is 12 Aries, Neptune is 6 Pisces retrograde, Pluto is 11 Capricorn retrograde, TransPluto is 30 Leo, Chiron is 14 Pisces, and the NN is 17 Scorpio.
When a Lunation is on one of the angles of a chart, it is said to be particularly powerful. Among the cities covered in this column, this month the Lunation is culminating in eastern Canada, Washington DC, and Rio, and setting in eastern Europe, Moscow, and Johannesburg. The New Moon is on the nadir in southeast Asia and Perth, and rising in Maui. Thus this Lunation shows late Cancer to mid-Virgo rising across North America.
This is the thirteenth in a sequence of New Moons that fall in the sign preceding the Sun of the following Full Moon. In other words, this New Moon in Gemini will have a Full Moon in Cancer and Capricorn. This is the reverse of the sequence of the 20 months preceding the 2012 Gemini New Moon that all had the New Moon in the same sign as the subsequent Full Moon.
That pattern is now reversed, but will shift back to “normal” with the New and Full Moons of August. Since I explain this phenomenon and what it means in the Full Moon articles, I’ll elaborate more on this reversal of “the natural order of things” in the next Full Moon articles coming in about two weeks.
The New Moons and Full Moons are “God’s footprints in time.” Each shows the next in the 12 phases of how things come to be each year. The cycle could be described as follows: Life energy is initiated in Aries, substantiated in Taurus, explored in Gemini, grounded in Cancer, renewed and creatively expressed in Leo, refined and ordered in Virgo, balanced in Libra, purified in Scorpio, expanded in Sagittarius, organized in Capricorn, solidified into a vision in Aquarius, and ended/perpetuated in Pisces.
This New Moon is dynamically active, even if the energies seem out of balance and at times all over the map. We can expect huge new developments wherever we have Gemini in our charts, so get ready to expand into a new view, a new vision of the future, a new understanding of possibilities, and a wealth of new ideas and communications that should open a lot in our lives.
This on puts us on a quest for knowledge “that ensures some form of wealth and power,” so be open to where the Mystery of your life has led you, and what it’s opening for you these next 4 weeks. And in a curious synchronicity, Venus will help us capture what we need via our “invisible helpers.”
We’ve all been given opportunities to get to know our invisible helpers over the past 6 years via the Inferior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun in late June 2007 which awakened the process of communication with these forces in our lives. Our ability to tune in and communicate with these “fortuitous nature spirits” has been especially strong since the Spring of 2012, with huge boosts around the Solar T-square void Late Sept 2012, and the Full Moons of late October 2012 and late March 2013.
Venus now opens us to a new level of those communications and invisible help due to the emotional intelligence and understanding we’ve already cultivated in recent weeks. The next 4 weeks demands that we be open to many types and levels of communication and understanding, subtle and obvious, whether of the feelings or our minds.
Mars is on the degree of the South Node of the 2012 Solar Eclipse at 1 Gemini. That implies that something of that SN expression will be activated over the next 4 weeks, or perhaps we will see that whatever knowledge spurred us forward as a result of that Eclipse is now fully active in our lives.
Saturn continues to set up situations where we’ll all be introduced into more complex, intense, and/or deep relationships. We are now launched fully into the lessons of 2013 involving us meeting others at the highest possible level of social interaction rather than with an “everyday” type of attitude.
Its influence over the next 4 weeks is specifically aimed at solidifying or structuring what was set into motion at the recent Wesak Festival Lunar Eclipse at 6 Taurus-Scorpio. We will learn the next phase of that “Buddha Wisdom” through Saturn over the next 4 weeks. Since that Wesak Full Moon indicates heavy lessons over the next few months as well as the entire year, I’ve included links to that very important “Second High Moon” of Spring at the bottom of this post.
This will be a highly dynamic New Moon, activating our Gemini and Cancer sectors in huge ways! We will awaken to a deeper feeling-knowing, and capture the results of learning how to cooperate with our “invisible helpers.” Go for knowledge, go for connections, go for deeper feelings and find ways to bring pioneering views to the forefront. Stay balanced, stay organized, and stay kind when dealing with people who are acting like children.
Now that Mercury is slowing down and is about to go retrograde, the next two weeks will begin to “compress” as Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, and Mars will all be within a very tight span. Soon Venus will pass Mercury, and become the “herald” for all that will develop through the rest of the Summer into the Autumn. And of course, Saturn continues to help us eliminate and get rid of all that we don’t want nor need to take with us into a future that’s about to unfold fairly rapidly in July. When in doubt, you might as well let go, since you cannot hold on to those things anyway.
Because of where Jupiter is in Gemini , we’re finishing our Jupiterian experience in that sign, and because the Lunation is conjunct Jupiter, we should experience an expanding universe over the next 4 weeks. Much will be integrated that has been a promise, vision, or distant future up to now.
Over the next 4 weeks, Mars will transit 12 Gemini, finalizing in action our liberation from ghosts of the past going on since the 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse. When Jupiter danced in forward and retrograde motion over the degree of that eclipse in August, late November and early December 2012, and one last time in late March 2013, it accelerated the eclipse effect, bringing Jupiter-infused realizations, understanding, or openings.
After these transits of Jupiter, it set the stage for the end game of leaving old ghosts behind that has been finalized during this time that the inner planets have moved across 12 Gemini in May and June. Mars finishes the process in mid-June. You can find out more about what induced us to shed the ghosts of the past these past 24 months by checking out the articles at the bottom of this one.
In part 2, we’ll explore more about the influences of this expanding and opening New Moon, and the importance of Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron as we stand on the cusp between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius.
To learn more about what’s been happening since Jupiter went direct in late January, here are two articles that address that exact thing. Now that Mars is transiting that stationary direct degree, we will see an activation of those energies! At the bottom of part 1, there’s a link to what I wrote when it went retrograde last October about what we could expect these past few months.

Oh Gemini SN 2012 Eclipse expression . . . that makes sense. Within 2 degrees of my natal SN. I recognize it. Not much different than it always was but now have a different perspective. Cool!

Hi Robert... I'm in Turkey what does the sky have to say about what is playing out in Istanbul?

I really wonder if this will affect my own natal north node. Mine is at 23 d gemni posited at the begining of my 11th house. Hmmmm

Hi Caliban - glad you made it through the SN experience! Sometimes easier than other times....
Hi Gaye - This Lunation has 29 Scorpio on the Asc in Istanbul. I believe ALL the unrest over there can be laid at the feet of the Eclipses of the past 3 years plus the Uranus square Pluto also occurring.
As for the chart of Istanbul, that's a difficult thing to place, since it's been called some variant of Istanbul for over a thousand years, even when known as Constantinople and Byzantium. I found this: "With the Turkish Postal Service Law of March 28, 1930, the Turkish authorities officially requested foreigners to cease referring to the city with their traditional non-Turkish names (such as Constantinople, Tsarigrad, etc.) and to adopt Istanbul as the sole name also in their own languages." That "officially" established the city of Istanbul by government decree.
So we may be able to use that date for "incorporation." If so, it makes it an early Aries, obviously under pressure via the major league Cardinal T-squares in play since 2010. Add Mercury in very early Aries, Jupiter at 12 Gemini (Eclipse alert!), Saturn at 12 Capricorn (Pluto!), Uranus at 12 Aries (Uranus return!), Neptune at 2 Virgo (Neptune opposed Neptune) and you can see how that city is under pressure.
Also from wiki, we find the declaration of the Republic of Turkey is 29 October 1923. That should work for the national chart. First thing that springs to mind is Saturn on the Sun. There's more, but that's beyond the scope of what I can do here.

hi Robert......a couple technique questions, if you have time
I learned that doing a diurnal for the new and full moons actually constitutes a lunation chart and thus offers a more in depth look at possibilities for that time period, and it seems to be effective...
so would doing an event chart for new and full moon be a way to confirm these possibilities, do you think?
typically a diurnal is good for 1 day only except on a new or full (or 1/4) moon....so why couldn't we use an event chart in the same manner for a confirmation of upcoming events? any thoughts?
thanks!

Hi Christy - Actually, no time. Getting ready for a client and then must write about the New Moon pt 2. That said, any Lunation chart shows what has been (separating aspects) and what will be (forming aspects.) I make that clear in each Lunation article. And of course, legit horary charts also show what has been and will be, as long as they are truly an accurate reflection of the question of the moment. But again, a snapshot is merely that. It does not show us the real time aging process of the object being seen in the picture, which is a frozen moment.

hi robert,
I'm curious as to what you may have about September... Things always seem to change for me drastically, and for the better during september/october. New opportunities emerge, new scenes appear...
At the end of september my fiance and I are planning on moving back home to live with my mother so he can go to school. And we're preparing for that goal now. I'll be very curious as to your fall articles for directions on what will be poppin then!
much love, keep on writing! I always look forward to your articles!

Hi Robert, I'm curious about the inferior conjunction of Mercury to the Sun in 2007 that you referred to in this article....interesting that we would still be feeling the affects of it now. I never realized mercury/sun conjunctions had that much impact. Did you write any articles about it?

Hi Robert, did not mean to imply that it was easy at all. It was an extreme workout to get to re-oriented. Very complicated and I always thought gemini was easy breezy. Tricky!

Thanks Robert....I can understand the difficulty - thank you. It is a peaceful enormous group of protestors. Gandhi would be so very impressed. Xxx from Turkey
