Tonight we keep it short and not so sweet. Time to dance as though our lives and the lives of our loved ones depended on it.
This song seemed a good attitude to take on this 60th anniversary of the Korean War ("Police Action") armistice. Funny how M*A*S*H (1972-1983) was the last successful television series about a war. Since then, I suppose no one finds any war since the Korean War fodder for jokes.
There's nothing funny about what's been happening since Vietnam. There's certainly nothing funny about Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Egypt, or anywhere else that people are getting killed in the name of war over something or another.
Man’s inhumanity to men and women is staggering in its implications. Beware the slick men in slick shoes convincing all of us that we actually need this. Tonight I’m dancing because I don’t want to start screaming and not stop. What you’re about to see, I and countless millions lived through.
This song seemed the only appropriate response to what we went through then, and what countless millions are going through now. Sorry this is such a heavy dance, but sometimes we must stomp the ground and shake the world so that someone upstairs pays attention.
So dance as though God Almighty needed to hear your pounding feet. It sure beats taking it to the streets, since all that did was get thousands of us beaten, gassed, and arrested. I do believe civilization is on the line sometimes ....
Our Saturday Night Attitude dance number comes courtesy of Mister Edwin Starr of the bold voice and big attitude. Even if this makes you feel like crying, dance for both the dead and living.
Time to stomp! “Good God, ya’ll!”
With a video of the haunting imagery of what happened then, and is happening now, dance to end “War” (This clip will slip right into the next song in the list at the site, so if you want to come back to the next version of the song on this site, a GREAT clip of the Boss stomping and yelling at the Gods of War, you'll have to hit the back arrow when this clip is done.)
As I noted, here’s an amazing live performance by the Boss in 1985. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Listen up, since “blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed.” Put this one on full screen!
“War”Here’s an awesome live duet between the Boss and Edwin Starr, live and in your face! “War”
Since we’re dancing to end war tonight, in a curious turn, I found a different song titled “War” by Bob Marley. For your reggae Jah Irie, the Prophet singing “War”
We’ll close this somewhat heavy intention with Edwin live on television “taking us to church,” defying the gods of “War”
“War is legalized murder.” – HH Dalai Lama

Today also turned out to be the birthday and death day of two greats! If you want to groove on some folk music, some of which is infinitely danceable, go to the John Gorka celebration from earlier today. And if you want some blues to hit a great dance groove, then check out the links on the JJ Cale obit. So dance to rock, dance to the blues, and/or dance to the music of the people. Today we dance to a wide gamut of musical styles!!
