The Great Sextile Star of David Merkaba of late July 2013

There’s a lot of speculation about what this celestial event means. Some believe this “Star of Solomon” is a window in time to a higher spiritual state of Being. Let’s explore some elements of this event to find out more.

As I’ve noted before, this event is more like a series of rolling aspects than a singular event. Also, it’s important to note that we’ve had this Grand Sextile Merkaba 6-pointed Star pattern activated off and on ever since Mercury and Venus made their Grand Water Trines in early June.

Here are the mechanics of the process. On June 4-5 the Moon transited early Taurus, filling in the 5th point in the Star with the Water trine and Pluto. That means each time the Ascendant or Midheaven transited Virgo we had a Grand Sextile at work. The Water Trine involved 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9 Cancer, 6 Scorpio, and 6 Pisces, with Pluto at 11 Capricorn.

The Moon was at 2 Taurus when the Ascendant transited early Virgo between 11:11 am PDT and noon on June 4. The Moon was at 5 Taurus when the Midheaven transited early Virgo just before and after 6 pm PDT on June 4. It happened again on June 5, this time with the Moon at 14 Taurus when the Ascendant was in early Virgo between 11:08 and noon PDT.

The next 6 pointed Star occurred around 4 pm PDT on July 1, with the Grand Water Trine defined by Jupiter at 2 Cancer, the Sun at 11 Cancer, Saturn at 5 Scorpio, and Neptune at 6 Pisces. Pluto was 11 Capricorn, the Moon was 1 Taurus, and the Midheaven was in early Virgo to either side of 4 pm PDT. The Star occurred again around 9:30 am PDT on July 2 when the Ascendant was early Virgo and the Moon was at 10 Taurus, and again between 3:50-4:15 pm PDT when early Virgo was on the Midheaven and the Moon was at 13 Taurus.

Now we have the Moon in Taurus again, this time with Venus in early Virgo. So this is not the first Great Sextile involving Earth and Water elements in the series, but it is the first one with all positions occupied by planets rather than angles. This will happen again on August 25-26 when the Moon is again in early Taurus and the Sun and Mercury are in early Virgo. At that time, since Jupiter will be too far into Cancer, the 6 pointed star will happen when early Cancer is on the Ascendant and Midheaven.

Anyway, this one features this sequence of aspects: Moon sextile Neptune, then opposition Saturn, then sextile Jupiter, then trine Venus and trine Pluto, and ends with Moon sextile Mars. This indicates productivity, awareness, productivity, understanding and harmonization, closing with productivity. The Moon in Taurus anchors and grounds the Grand Earth Trine involving Venus at 9 Virgo and Pluto at 10 Capricorn, and “collects the light” of the separating Grand Water Trine, re-activating that long term influence.

This should prove to harmonize and stabilize the areas in our charts where we have the early degrees of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. It weaves together the rulers of Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. That’s 3/4 of our life!

As the Grand Earth trine stabilizes, we should find a certain harmony of function between the Moon, Venus, and Pluto. This should help us see the root of emotions, relationships, values, and needs clearly, and will harmonize the Earth signs in our chart, as well as whatever is influenced by Taurus, Cancer, Libra, and the spiritual orientation of our Aries and Scorpio.

There will be productivity between these areas and the parts of our lives involving the worldly expression of Aries, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. These will bring emotional support to the previously mentioned practical areas.

All should clearly understand in fairly simple terms some part of the past that must be left behind to open the door to self-renewal. It may involve a certain type of specialized genius or unique self-expression, anchored in the core teaching of learning how to get beyond fear. Imitation expands opportunities, even as we tear ourselves away from the known and familiar, mastering discouragement in the marketplace of life.

This focuses elements of our long term process of substantiating and confirming what we value. This particular sequence begins with letting go, joining with others to bridge some kind of gap or evolutionary challenge, and using knowledge and skill to meet the demands of a stage of life still on the way. It then moves into seeing how to create happiness in dark times and situations, knowing how we have all entered a greater life consecration, and closes with seeing how we did or did not “tend our garden of life” between the Summer of 2011 and the Spring of 2012.

It’s certainly a good time for launching something, stabilizing something, making connections, signing contracts and making agreements, and generally marks a point when the flow of the Grand Water Trine energies we’ve been moving through for the past 2 months is anchored in some Earthly way. Of course, since Mars just opposed Pluto and is still square Uranus, watch out for the plunge following the flow!

Have a sense of humor, or the irony in what you’re seeing or hearing. Many egos are being punctured in good natured ways right now. And some not so good natured ways as well. Communications are front and center, but be aware that if you’re dealing with someone who is out of balance, while it may be good for exercising your imagination, you may not be able to penetrate superficial reasoning or unfair perspectives.

The Cardinal T-square is still in full force via Jupiter, so be careful in all agreements, and make sure you’re not agreeing to opportunities that could be dangerous or not real. Be open and above board in knowing and asserting what is in your best interests, and make no secret agreements since they will blow up via the Jupiter opposition Pluto.

We’re still getting oriented through Jupiter square Uranus, which provides tremendous power if we know how to focus the hard edge of the energy. Again, balance, a sense of perspective or proportion, and a clear sense of what’s just and fair is required.

Also, with the Moon in early Taurus opposed Saturn in early Scorpio, the Sun in early Leo creates a Fixed T-square that helps release the power of the opposition into the void in early Aquarius. So while we build through the Great Sextile, we release via a Cardinal AND a Fixed T-square with both voids in Air signs. Communications are going to be important in a healthy expression of this energy, and no doubt some will see the emergence of their Global Self, freed from old standards based in local conditions.

That implies mid-morning, when Libra is on the Ascendant and filling in the void of the Cardinal T, and around sunset, when Aquarius is on the Ascendant, will prove important times of seeing clearly what is to be done, to be said, to be communicated, to be envisioned, or who our spiritual family actually are. And remember that the recent Full Moon had the Moon in Aquarius forming the Fixed T-square with the void in early Taurus, and now the Moon occupies that void. A very dynamic time indeed!

My natal sun in virgo. I am supposed to be able to analyze right? But communications are indeed murky. I never realized how panicked I get when I allow myself to become confused, when I can't see through things. I feel helpless. Maybe I can let go of the pressure to resolve. To fix it. However did that become my responsibility. Could be good prep for neptune coming opposition to my sun.
