We have a New Moon coming in about 48 hours! Over the next 4 weeks, the New Moon in Leo indicates a time of powerful and natural expressions of the heart. We’re all getting the chance to “put on the show,” and since this Lunation falls at the Lion Point, you can bet we can all get stronger, have a better time than in the recent past, or find our enthusiasm or playful self-expression.
This New Moon in Leo is inspiring, stabilizing, loving, creative, and naturally spontaneous in its expressions. We’re still in the thick of Cancer energies that are predominating in June, July, and August, with echoes lasting until August 2014. We’ve already gotten clear signals about how feelings are flowing or not, and this New Moon will reveal how willing we are to act creatively and have fun expressing our integrated personality as we’ve nurtured it up to now.
This Lunation is the newest expansive reorienting phase of the new life experience that has its roots in the new archetypes that came forth in between late 2009 and early 2011, when there were a series of conjunctions in Aries that opened our lives to new futures. These long wave pulses were recently renewed in March and April and stabilized in May. This Lunation will flood those pulses with energy, preparing us for expansions beginning July 2014.
We are now able to externalize facets of those renewed beginnings with greater spontaneity and enthusiasm, and have shifted internal allegiances away from old cares and concerns into new ways to do our Being. This New Moon helps us to express the power that’s been building the past 4 months, and continues to expand what has already begun to grow.
This stabilizing, expressive, and enthusiastic New Moon occurs at 15 Leo on August 6, 2:51 pm PDT, 5:51 pm EDT, 10:51 pm Greenwich Daylight (August 7 in Moscow and points east.) The Lunation finds 3 Sagittarius rising in Santa Monica, 21 Scorpio in Vancouver, 30 Sagittarius in Toronto, 4 Capricorn in Montreal, and 6 Capricorn in Washington DC. That means the span of Ascendants across North America is between late Scorpio and early Capricorn.
Continuing eastward, we find rising signs of 3 Pisces in Rio, 7 Aries in Lisbon, 1 Taurus in London, 27 Taurus in Berlin, 29 Taurus in Sofia, 7 Taurus in Johannesburg, and 1 Cancer rising in Moscow. That means the span of Ascendants across Europe and Africa is between early Aries and early Cancer.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find Ascendants at 13 Cancer in Abbottabad (August 7), 13 Cancer in New Delhi, 4 Cancer in Trivandrum, 1 Leo in Phnom Penh, 13 Leo in Hong Kong, 8 Virgo in Tokyo, 24 Cancer in Perth, 26 Leo in Melbourne, 12 Virgo in Brisbane, 15 Libra in Wellington, and 5 Scorpio rising on Maui (August 6).
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 4 weeks.
In this New Moon at 15 Leo, Mercury is 28 Cancer, Venus is 19 Virgo, Mars is 17 Cancer, Jupiter is 10 Cancer, Saturn is 6 Scorpio, Uranus is 13 Aries retrograde, Neptune is 5 Pisces retrograde, Pluto is 10 Capricorn retrograde, TransPluto is 30 Leo, Chiron is 13 Pisces retrograde, and the NN is 13 Scorpio.
When a Lunation is on one of the angles of a chart, it is said to be particularly powerful. Among the cities covered in this column, this month the Lunation is culminating in Maui and Vancouver, and setting in no city on our list, though generally it is on the 7th angle from Miami to Rio. The New Moon is on the nadir from London to Moscow down to Johannesburg, and rising in Phnom Penh, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Perth, and Melbourne.
This is the first in a sequence of New Moons that fall in the same sign as the following Full Moon, This reverses many months of the New Moon falling in the sign preceding the Sun of the following Full Moon. In other words, this New Moon in Leo also has a Full Moon in Leo and Aquarius. This is the reverse of what we’ve experienced since July 2011, which began a sequence of Lunations where the Full Moon Sun was in the sign after the New Moon Sun.
So we’ve now shifted back to “normal” with the New and Full Moons of August. Since I explain this phenomenon and what it means in the Full Moon articles, I’ll elaborate more on this shift between the “normal order of things” and when the pattern is reversed in the next Full Moon articles coming in about two weeks.
The New Moons and Full Moons are “God’s footprints in time.” Each shows the next in the 12 phases of how things come to be each year. The cycle could be described as follows: Life energy is initiated in Aries, substantiated in Taurus, explored in Gemini, grounded in Cancer, renewed and creatively expressed in Leo, refined and ordered in Virgo, balanced in Libra, purified in Scorpio, expanded in Sagittarius, organized in Capricorn, solidified into a vision in Aquarius, and ended/perpetuated in Pisces.
This New Moon is dynamically expressive, even if the energies seem out of balance and at times all over the map. We can continue to expect huge new developments wherever we have Cancer and Leo in our charts. We continue to move into new feeling paths, new forms of personality integration that will help us understand the perfection of our life lessons and experience and help us integrate it in the spiritual realm.
This gives power to the major expansions and opportunities set into motion last month that will resonate through next Spring. Be open to “putting on the show” and continuing those actions that further personality integration through growth in helping your Soul to come forth. There is great potential for some form of “inner rebirth” through accepting a more natural way to coordinate various areas of your life.
Venus now opens us to healthy forms of “cooperative competition,” showing us that a coordinated group effort that stimulates the best in each member is a technique of being educated in “right action.” August offers new forms of expression, preparing the ground for major developments in 2014-2015.
Mars is on the degree of last month’s New Moon. Please refer to those articles to learn more about what will be activated by Mars over the next 4 weeks, or perhaps we will see that something directly related to that Lunation can now be acted upon, or will begin to bring us activity around those integrative possibilities, or the forms we’ve developed these past 4 weeks.
Saturn continues to structure situations where we’re being introduced to more complex, intense, and/or deep relationships. We are now launched fully into the lessons of 2013 involving us meeting others at the highest possible level of social interaction rather than with an “everyday” type of attitude.
Its influence over the next 4 weeks is specifically aimed at solidifying or structuring what was set into motion in the April 2013 Wesak Festival Lunar Eclipse at 6 Taurus-Scorpio and “Christ Fest” at 5 Sagittarius-Gemini. We will learn the next phase of that “Buddha Wisdom” through Saturn over the next 4 weeks. Since that Wesak Full Moon indicates heavy lessons over the next few months as well as the entire year, I’ve included links to that very important “Second High Moon” of Spring at the bottom of this post, as well as the posts for the Christ Fest.
This will be a highly dynamic New Moon, activating our Cancer and Leo sectors in huge ways! We continue to awaken to a more “up close and personal” feeling-knowing, integrating what we’ve been learning into a more perfectly formed personality. We’ve all developed an increased sensitivity to a greater feeling-flow and/or emotional intelligence via the Grand Water Trines active in June and July.
These are now done, and we enter the final Cardinal T-square shown by Jupiter opposing Pluto and square Uranus in this New Moon chart. This one’s very powerful, and challenges us all to get focused, not jump at opportunities that are not opportunities, turn away from waste and self-indulgent behavior, and refuse all secret agreements or dishonest interactions. For some, the next month will bring some form of relief at having made it through symbolic “whitewater rapids,” while for others, creative imagination will be front and center!
Since Venus in mid-Virgo leads the cluster of inner planets in Cancer and Leo, it is the “herald” for all that will develop between September and November. And of course, Saturn continues to help us eliminate and get rid of all that we don’t want nor need to take with us into a future that rapidly unfolded in July. When in doubt, you might as well let go, since you cannot hold on to those things anyway.
Because of how far into Cancer Jupiter has come, we’re solidly in the year-long adventure of having Jupiter in that sign. This is the second New Moon with Jupiter in Cancer, and leads us into unknown zones.
In part 2, we’ll explore more about the influences of this expanding and opening New Moon, and the importance of Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron as we stand on the cusp between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius.

Definitely a big bang, transformational, wake up call for me. Hope I'm ready for this. New moon is right on top of my n.Uranus opp n.Sun. Also in the mix, Pluto transiting my Asc, Jupt/Mars my DC with Uranus squaring that too!

"...challenges us all to get focused, not jump at opportunities that are not opportunities..."
Oh how true! However, as is normally the case, being open to the signs (which as of late have taken on a rather watery, nebulous form, unsurprisingly), it becomes a bit easier to navigate the tides/recognize these false opportunities...

well i'm jumping at the only possibility/opportunity i have right now (and it's HUGE!) and i dearly hope it is an opportunity that is "an opportunity" and not one that isn't... :/
