Every so often I am asked what I mean by the term “reverse magnetism,” as in “if chances to reverse magnetism present themselves, by all means do so.” Today we’ll take a brief look at magnetism
We all have all the signs in some combination in our birth charts. Each sign expresses its unique energy within the field of the All, the 360 phases of experience. Scorpio is that phase in the Whole Cycle where we look at what we have attracted to us and decide if we want something else. It is also where we cast off forms to go deeply into energy itself.
As each planet transits Scorpio it helps us eliminate those planetary patterns we no longer want nor need. That sort of radical detachment forces us to examine our desires, what we want and why we want it.
In the example I gave yesterday, Venus in Scorpio can also help us eliminate Venusian patterns we no longer want nor need. That’s because Venus attaches to things, while Scorpio forces us to see what we cannot hold on to. Saturn in Scorpio helps us eliminate Saturnine patterns that no longer serve our evolution wherever it falls in our charts. Many rules, responsibilities, ambitions, and personal limitations are being re-evaluated during this time.
Also, remember we’ve all learned a lot about magnetism, loss, gain, regeneration, and “holding the empty space” during the time that the North Node (NN) has been in Scorpio since September 2012. At that time the energy of our collective line of greatest growth (NN) through understanding how to “do” Scorpio energy was kickstarted by Mars in Scorpio, followed by Mercury, Saturn, the Sun, and finally Venus, extending the planetary conjunctions with North Node in Scorpio energies through mid-December.
Even though Saturn was very wide from the NN during the 2012 inner planet conjunctions, these served to “collect the light,” preparing us for this year’s transits that will express the larger Saturn conjunct NN in Scorpio larger influence. Last year, Venus was the last of the inner planets to transit Scorpio. This year, Venus is the first to conjunct Saturn and the North Node.
This year, Venus is followed by Mercury and the Sun. Like 2012, Mercury will be retrograde in Scorpio, giving us Mercury Retrograde reflections about Scorpio energy and the many ways magnetism works in a roundabout fashion. Regardless, we’re certainly all going deeper, feeling more intensely, and searching for experiences beyond the form of things we’re perceiving.
Because our line of greatest development deals with the deep and intense feelings of Scorpio, it requires that we get clear about why we feel what we do, and eliminate unhealthy feelings that only magnetize discontent and disharmony to our mind and feelings. This means understanding what drives the attachment to the desire that has magnetized what it has.
This also requires that we learn the playing field and the tools at our disposal so that we can eliminate unhelpful magnetism and “hold the empty space” so that we attract only what is in our highest and best interests. Control of the desire mind is an absolute if we are to feel like we’re driving our vehicle rather than us feeling driven by that which seems beyond our control.
Our energies are constantly in flux, and we’re constantly exchanging energy with our environment, including others, whether directly or indirectly. We learn patterns around energy exchange from our earliest days, and tend to cling to those patterns, whether they are serving the need of the moment or not.
Our magnetism attracts certain things because of preexisting patterns, both in the subconscious mind and the self-conscious mind. Our desire mind is a very strong part of our mechanism, even though it is frequently misguided and draws things to us that lead to pain rather than pleasure. That’s why reversing magnetism requires examining how our desire mind works, and redirecting its magnetic energy to that which is in our best interests.
That means if you're feeling against something, instead redirect the feeling toward something positive. If you feel stuck in "cluelessness," then "get a clue," i.e., go learn something about whatever you feel clueless about.
It also helps to get some perspective. We must take a long look at the deeper meaning of our narrative from a life-long perspective, and how we got to where we are. Once we have some perspective from seeing a bigger picture, then we can ask whether certain feelings are valid any more.
Then we can reverse magnetism by seeing that the more we eliminate the old magnetized thoughts, feelings, and actions, and not be too quick to fill that space back up with random phenomena, the more we will attract what our heart truly wants and needs. Then we have to translate those signals and understanding and manifestations into Life. As we learn the art of “reversing magnetism,” we see old patterns quickly shed and new manifestations of our heart’s intention come forth.
I believe the trick to a lot of this is to be joyous as we move through the fluctuations of existence. If we can turn Scorpionic discontent into conscious elimination of old habits in thought, feeling, and action that no longer feed our need for a deeper connection with ourselves and our Life, then we can choose those thoughts, feelings, and actions that serve our higher purpose.
We are all Living Eternal Centers of electromagnetic energy operating in the 12 “Frequency Zones of Human Existence” simultaneously. These 12 involve our Life in material, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of existence as they play out in the fields of personal, interpersonal, and transpersonal experience.
That’s why as long as we’re in a physical body, we may as well stay open to learning all we can about these 12 areas of human life. There’s a lot of energy exchanges as we move and groove through the intersection of Fate Street and Freewill Street dancing down Eternity Boulevard. The art of Scorpio is to know when to let go with grace and elegance, turning to a deeper connection with the future as it comes forth in the NOW.

Thank you Robert as always. You are truly a daily blessing.
WITH Saturn transit through my 1st house crossing mars 4° & eventually neptune 21°in 2nd this past year I've worked on me. Letting go of anger, finally exercising, taking control of my health, diagnosed with the MS(Uranus transit my saturn 6th house). No more drinking, no more smoking. And finding astrology, balancing my chakras and healing my mind. I am still looking for my life purpose. I always had that feeling I was meant to do something big,leo sun 10th house, but maybe a good wife & mother is my job. I keep trying to learn. To set all those past demons free...

Truly astrology taken to the right and relevant level (not just the next). As someone blessed with huge doses of Scorpio, 8th House and Pluto, I can attest to what you've so eloquently described.
Keywords to me: turning Scorpionic discontent into conscious elimination. Powerful insight, thanks Robert!

Thank you so much Robert. Your explanation is truly very helpful at this point in time. A couple of weeks ago I asked myself if I was brave enough to let go of everything - even the direction I thought I was supposed to be going in. I haven't got the answer just yet, but I can feel it approaching. I'm a Leo the Lion on the Yellow Brick Road!

I've always been a strong believer in evolutionary astrology, this is represented by Pluto, Scorpio, nodes of the moon and there rulers they say in astrology circles. Your article about magnetism and scorpio is another excellent way of viewing or understanding these energies.
Your absolutely right Robert, since approximately Oct '12, my goals in life (11th house) have been purified and definitely "reverse magnetized" as you describe above.. ahhh, the beauty of being humbled and yet enlightened progresses onward.. :)

THANK YOU, ROBERT !!
Isabel Hickey's line hit this Scorpio in the face at the naive age of seventeen:
" The desire nature needs curbing. "
It took a while for me to grasp it - and longer still to apply it - but man oh man am I ever grateful for having read that when I did. I can so easily imagine how much worse off I'd have been without it...
Likewise with this penetrating and timely article ! I am SO grateful for your giving all of us this wise offering to reflect upon again and again, going forward.
My heartfelt thanks !

I just re read this for the twentieth time...so much of my natal chart is in Scorpio and I'll be having my Saturn return there this coming year and feel I am on the event horizon of a black hole, scared shitless and excited too. This article was the 'last straw' to my commitment to eliminate 'wanting'...ha,both elimination and wanting being Scorpio things...?...it is an oxymoron or a paradox or...not human feeling somehow...strange day by strange day.
an extra big thanks for a deeply provocative and impactful post!

What a great article. I am going to practice reverse magnetism in my relationship with others (8th H Sun) and with my healing body. For ex. - I will no longer resist the negativity coming at me from others but instead, put out a positive message, and I will no longer want to push away the physical injury but rather, attract healing and relaxation. It is all about power struggle, another key component to Scorpio wouldn't you say? And with these planets in my third I am trying to be more mindful of the words I say and write and think. Thought is energy. So easy to forget this.
Thank you again for such a inspiring piece.
