Astrology in November-December 2013 – The Grand Irrationality Affecting Everyone!!

Yes, this marks the cosmic moment when the Grand Irrationality is set into full motion, now that Saturn is septile Pluto and almost biseptile Neptune. And in the very near future, Mars will join the party and activate the entire pattern over a number of weeks. It’s “forks in the road of destiny” time!!

As many of you know, the Grand Irrationality is a term I coined to describe the long wave effects of Neptune septile Pluto. It’s been active since the early 90s, in full sway since the mid-90s, and only now are we on the other side of the heart of this irrational, obsessive-compulsive, edgy and very strange energy field. But make no mistake – we’re still in the heart of it, big time!

All of humanity’s usual governmental, economic, military, cultural, and natural humanitarian instincts have been more or less off the rails since the mid-90s. Very little makes sense any more, and many of today’s disputes have some really crazy and unreasonable elements asserted.

Especially in politics, economics, and how things should work as opposed to how they currently don’t work, it’s very irrational that we aren’t taking care of some serious problems, nor are there any sound “reasons” for why we’ve collectively chosen a curious form of mass insanity regarding the environment. As a group life wave, we’ve all been part of a vast process that has become very strange. That’s why I termed it The Grand Irrationality.

Because this is a transit to transit configuration, it’s something that shows us the larger field in which we live, breathe, and have our Being. It’s part of the nature of evolution itself to have these points of critical choice and change built into any process. And it gets triggered in constant and very important ways each time any planet moves through any of the seven zones created by the Neptune septile Pluto.

The current degree spans that trigger this transformative mass configuration are 17-21 Scorpio, 8-12 Capricorn, 30 Aquarius- 4 Pisces, 22-26 Aries, 13-17 Gemini, 5-9 Leo, and 26-30 Virgo. If you have a planet or angle in any of these zones, you are making critical choices and decisions that will alter your future in important ways. And because it’s in motion due to outer planets, these are pretty much forces beyond your ability to control, even if you can always control your response to these critical events.

So Saturn has now entered the 17-21 degree zone in Scorpio that septiles Pluto and then biseptiles Neptune. The Moon will trigger it sometime late Nov 22 or 23 when it’s in Leo (adding a 4th point to the 7 pointed Star), and again when it’s in the late Virgo zone on Nov 27. Both time it adds a 4th point to the 7 pointed Star activation, with the Ascendant and Midheaven also adding a 5th point when the Moon is active.

Mars actively joins when it transits the Virgo zone between November 26 and December 8 and makes a septile to Saturn, biseptile to Pluto, and then a triseptile to Neptune. During that time the Moon will activate it when it transits Scorpio and conjuncts Saturn on December 1, when it conjuncts Pluto on Dec 4-5, and again when it transits late Aquarius and early Pisces on Dec 7-8. These Lunar transit conjunctions reinforce the power of what is now anchored by Saturn, Pluto, and Neptune.

Remember too that this is Saturn’s first pass through the Scorpio zone. This lasts through early January. Each time the Moon goes through one of the zones in December, even after Mars is past the Virgo zone, it will trigger the configuration that begins now.

When Saturn goes retrograde in early March at 24 Scorpio, it will be in close septile to Pluto at 14 Capricorn and biseptile Neptune at 6 Pisces. As you can see, the zones will have moved forward a little by then. After that, between late April and early October 2014, Saturn retrogrades back through the current zone. That’s important because whatever is set up now will have a direct relationship to whatever shows up then.

And many of the choices and decisions that are related to Saturn now will see execution or activation once Mars moves through the current Scorpio zone in late August 2014. We can also expect that when Mars moves through the advanced zone made by the March 2014 Saturn-Pluto-Neptune configuration over the first week of September 2014, a clear pattern should be there for all of us to see about how then is directly related to now.

In any case, we’ve just entered a huge set of waves that will test our surfing skills to the limit! Even though things won’t make much sense a lot of the time, remember that they don’t have to. Balance your mental knowing with your emotional knowing, and navigate the hard edges by remembering we’re all learning emotional fluidity and the ability to use emotional intelligence to navigate these very deep waters.

ps - Hi all. Due to some responses over at FB, I was moved to create this addendum. It's a gentle reminder of some fundamentals.

Remember, planets don't "cause" anything, but merely show us the patterns of the larger collective field. This has been putting pressure on everyone everywhere for about 18-20 years. We'll be through with it within 5-6. We're all learning how to "be" our Higher Self within a larger collective energetic field that makes no sense and gets really crazy at times.

Globally we're learning how choices create consequences, even if none of it makes sense. The inner pressure is pushing everyone, aware or not, into choices where reason cannot figure out what must be done or not done. In fact, that's why many feel "compelled" to do certain things, even if they can't explain why it's such a strong compulsion. And some compulsions are more harmless than others. Like me writing this column! ;-)

However, we are learning the means to surf these waves, and deal with the sudden and often jarring realities that intrude and force us to deal with things that may make little sense. As a race we must adapt to the needs of the NOW.

We have been in class learning about "feeling-knowing" since June. We were offered a preliminary stability then, which is now still in major play due to Jupiter trine Saturn from water signs. If we combine the wisdom of our experiences in the past with a little common sense and discretion, this feeling-understanding can lead us to be able to flow through these weird events and surf these somewhat choppy waves with grace and humor.

The human race is being led to learn and know "reality" differently than in the past. Humanity has relied on reason for many centuries. Great for overcoming ancient superstitions, but not useful as a sole reference as we break free of the Age of Pisces and move toward the Age of Aquarius. We are learning to come out of framing things in terms of our mind thinking it knows what to believe or doubt.

Through integrated knowing, involving the laws of Synthesis, we can get beyond believing or doubting ourselves, the process, or anything else. We can know what's happening, what to do or not do, and not fall into fear or anxiety when things get weird, irrational, or a bit jagged. We are remembering how to tap our wisdom while not letting the mind jam our gears.

From one point of view, we're all being forced to grow into a more loving, wise, intelligent way of doing our Being in the NOW. The rest is just a series of perceptual and attitude adjustments. And it helps to remember to be of good humor as we view the ever-passing soft parade inside the gold mine.

Can you clarify please? if I am 'making critical choices and decisions that will alter your future in important ways' yet the forces are beyond my control, am I really making ANY choices other than how I feel about how it unfolds? I am having my second Saturn return in the Saturn/Scorpio zone and it feels like a huge wave that I can do nothing with, other than surrender, and I believe THAT is the only 'choice' I have, surrender and ride it...or...

Hi debbie - It would seem that your way of "admiring the unfamiliar" and your public/professional persona are now at a good turning point. By next August, you will have prepared and should be ready for a new adventure. For now, today's article should help you imagine the possibilities!

Hi gale - We make the choices we make. It doesn't mean we have much control over the forces that require us to make these choices. But we control the choice. The second Saturn return is where we take all that we've experienced, get clear about what roles we cannot play any more, and "take command of the vehicle" so that we can live our wisdom in our 60s and beyond without the burdens that once limited us. Of course, there are new limitations, but that's a function of age and evolution. I suspect you are surrendering in some ways, riding in some ways, liberated in some ways, and very, VERY focused in some ways. Though my second Saturn return was very difficult, it also coincided with a very real world manifestation that let me know that regardless of what was in my past, or what left my life at that point forever, I was clear what I had to do AND had the means to do it.

Hi Trinity - It sounds like you're wired into the collective. Since we feel, as we evolve we feel all there is in the collective field. The trick is to keep an open heart and open mind as we navigate the deep waters of the foggy collective consciousness. And yes, expect more upheavals of many sorts as we move through Uranus square Pluto.

Hi caliban - That sounds like a form of genius! The loss of a sense of humor seems to be plaguing humanity during this time of heavy ego globally.

Hi debbie - Well spoken. Life on Earth really doesn't make much sense right now, but humor is the one tool we have that cuts through ego pomposity, as Rudhyar puts it. Glad to have you aboard the Starship Aquariuspapers. We do try to keep a sense of perspective and humor as we navigate the flotsam of our current dying fear and greed-based reality.

Hi Diane S. - Big set coming in outside, large enough to shoot the curl if we find the point of balance and don't try to hang 10 when just staying alive is giving us a great ride! The rides can be thrilling, even if they seem daunting at first. Our heads may "know" that a wave is going one way and another is coming, but a successful ride is all in the balance, which is known through feeling with our feet.
