Venus goes direct at 12:49 pm PST, 8:49 pm Greenwich on January 31. This is a threshold from which we move forward in many Venus-ruled areas of our lives. Much that we’ve been reviewing in late December through January will be set into motion in November 2014.
This indicates we’ve begun a period where Venus will move through Capricorn for the third time, giving us a chance to apply what we have learned during its retrograde period. This offers us the ability to cultivate skill in using our Venusian planetary functions within the lessons indicated by the degree spans it’s transited.
As I've pointed out in previous articles outlining how the retrograde influence works, we first experience the sign lessons when planets cross those spans. Then we get a new look or new experience of those sign lessons when planets retrograde across those spans. Then we get to weave these two approaches or understandings together and apply them when the planets again go direct and cross the span a third time.
In this case, Venus, the planet of love, relationships, values and resources, having begun its retrograde at 29 Capricorn, has now moved back to 14 Capricorn, where it is going direct. Its time in Capricorn gave us newer and more mature and responsible ways of relating to others, or gave us insights into past Capricorn relationship issues so we could remember where we were or were not given the authority to do or not do whatever. This could also apply to any Venus-ruled area, such as values and/or resources.
If there were reconnections with people and values from the past, we can now can move forward in more thoughtful and deliberate ways. The restructuring and maturing we've experienced the past month and a half have shown us what we want to carry into our public life, as well as what we don’t, especially in the life areas indicated by the houses where we have 14-29 Capricorn. Obviously it also impacts the houses where we have Taurus and Libra in our chart.
By way of illustration, in my chart the Venus retrograde fell primarily in my 6th house, so I got a Venusian "review" of my work and health disciplines, as well as valuable ways of serving myself and others in my world. There were delays and postponements in my work, a review of some health issues where I found the earlier assessments were woefully wrong or inadequate, and also a review of some of my assets and what use I want to make of them in the near future.
While I’ve reconnected with more than a few old friends, and heard from others I’ll probably reconnect with in the future, I’ve also remembered relationships from my past that were hurtful, deceitful, or where I had to deal with flaming narcissists. Obviously upon re-experiencing those controlling or barren relationships, I chose to let go, forgive the best I’m able, and certainly won’t be trying to reconnect with them for whatever sentimental reasons I may have had before this retrograde!
Venus goes direct at 14 Capricorn, “An ancient bas-relief carved in granite.” This is a degree of technique for sorting out what’s important in our past from the unimportant forms and further developments related to those important factors in what shaped our social or cultural values, and is the platform for future Venusian experiences.
Rudhyar says the first half of Capricorn is the "Span of Illusiveness," and the Scene of Crystallization in the Act of Capitalization. In the notes from the original Jones class, he states this degree is one of "Man’s power to leave permanent records of his achievements,” “personal immortality,” “fecundation of future by past,” and “assurance.”
In his "Astrological Mandala," we are told that this degree is one of “the will to unearth, in our culture as well as in any culture, what has permanent value, and let go of nonessentials.” He implies we may be facing a period of “questioning and challenging the validity of traditional beliefs and customary attitudes,” which will show us core principles and symbols separate from superficial developments which may have obscured those timeless truths.
He challenges us to focus on “the immortal seed foundation” of things as well as “sustained and complete work produced by …. (our) effort to achieve creative perfection.” We are told this is the procedure of gaining a “deep and thorough appreciation of sociocultural processes in their enduring forms” that requires us to find a “penetrating and courageous insight founded on a valid historical perspective.”
Dr. Marc Jones says this is a symbol of “the immeasurable potentiality of the present moment” for all that could be, and of our ability “to capitalize on opportunities” these moments bring to focus in ourselves and our world.” He says this degree is “an absoluteness of self as it proceeds to express itself with a true conviction,” which yields an achievement based in a larger perspective.
He says the keyword is FOUNDATION. We are told when operating positively, this degree “is a gift for bringing all things into a pattern of convenience and thereupon precipitating an inevitability of desired results.” The implication is that through Venus, we can and will experience a foundation which our “immortal self” will use to express itself in some creative way as we again re-trace our Capricorn lessons from this point through the end of 2014.
This sets a platform for Venusian realizations along these lines and the ability to move forward with a sense of what’s permanent and what’s transitory through 2014. Obviously, if Venus makes aspects to your natal planets from 14 Capricorn, then by those aspects your planetary functions will be challenged or understood, used productively or become specialized according to the specific aspect Venus makes to your planets. This will impact both the life areas of the houses these occupy, as well as the houses they rule.
So now that Venus is direct in motion, it means the life areas ruled by Taurus and Libra (the houses with those signs on the cusp, or edge of the house) should now show some movement forward after many weeks of being slowed, stopped, or even seeming to go backwards. Venus retrograde has given us all a chance to slow down in our interactions, take a new look at old relations to see what was of value, what was blocked, and if they created insecurity or suspicion in our relationships since then. We’re now done with a period when some Venusian things were on hold and can proceed from here, since we know what to expect now that Venus moves forward in Capricorn.
This also has a background effect for those areas ruled by planets we have in Taurus and Libra. For example, I have Neptune in Libra in the 3rd, ruler of my 8th. Venus going direct will affect my Neptune function, and so indirectly my 3rd and 8th house. That's definitely looming large in my life! And with my natal Venus in Taurus trined by Venus’ stationary degree, I should be able to move through the practical realms of life with a more solid understanding of what’s valuable and what isn’t.
So from here we move forward in the Taurus and Libra sectors, based in the very powerful Venus conjunct Pluto septile Saturn and Neptune. Because Venus is the dispositor of Mars, it also indicates that the near future features a transmutation for all of us where we will find a new heart strength and spiritual awareness by seeing how things that seem to be different actually share a common base.
So this does mark a turning point for any of us impacted by this stationary direct event. And while some things may be difficult due to the ongoing T-square, since evolution is a one-way street, there’s nothing to do but walk on, despite previous delays and disappointments.
Planets going from retrograde to direct challenge us to move forward with a view to what we’ve just been through. At least Venus has shown us how to make progress despite external limiting or restructuring conditions, and many openings should occur as we learn to put our best selves forward, being persistent in keeping our eyes on the prize and not settling for lesser things when greater things are at stake.
Mercury retrograde is next! And the beat goes on and on and on...

Great post. To my understanding, besides of moving forward, there is also an opportunity for syntheis that is open. This will allow to gain more awareness, a clear mind and a better understanding of what has happen and what we should do in the near future. A clear view of the steps to take if we want to "reach the prize"· and then follow after another prize or perfect what we have found.
Opportunities are there, if we are open and aware to them.
Blessing be,
Nic

Thanks for these insights Robert, Venus going direct @ 14 Capricorn in my 1st house trines my natal Virgo stellium in the 9th house and they in turn conjunct my MC. I've had concrete visions about the future of my career and its prospects, especially in a practical sense because of my age and geographic location etc..
"This also has a background effect for those areas ruled by planets we have in Taurus and Libra."
OK, but the thing that's got me though, is what if someone has Taurus intercepted (5th house) and thus not on an actual house cusp? however Libra is on its own house cusp, albeit ruler of the opposite intercepted house? complicating it further is these points and planets are part of a Yod..
I'm sure this situation could apply to others out there too..

my venus ruled chart is happy to have her moving foward again, she stations direct square my 14 Libra moon in 12th quickly trining my 15 Taurus venus in 7th, having , stationed rx on my natal saturn and have noted I have felt stressed to acknowled that I am now actually feeling emotionally available now and that although (this is a bit personal sorry) i have valued celibacy for quite a while (since my emotionally abusive marriage ended in seen betrayal, when saturn transited 8th house) in order to heal my mind to be emotionally available, I know I value intimate relationship more now which would be lovely were that to become a reality or even potential commitment once she passes back over natal saturn later on :)

Thank-you Robert! I have been speculating about this degree of 14 Capricorn as a little while ago when I was consulting Lynda Hill's Sabian Oracle about certain questions,
this answer came back several times.
It makes me wonder whether this degree is highlighting a literal piece of info. coming in, in the sense of your recent links to articles on surfacing of evidence of older civilizations or perhaps we will learn something new about an old civilization that is known to us?

Yes, yes and ohhh yes to Venus going direct! With Libra ascendant I found the retrograde a bit of a challenge...learned lots though.

I think it is a very neat bit of symbolic synchronicity that Janet Yellen takes over at the Federal Reserve exactly as Venus goes direct in Capricorn !
I mean, really ....how cool is THAT ?

My mouth dropped when you mentioned that you had 'let go' of a flaming narcissist from your past, because I had the same experience. It was quite a mental ride for a few days when I was approached after 10 years!! Boy was I ever annoyed..however, I handled it with grace and forgiveness and I doubt I will ever hear from them again. Thanks for sharing :)

I been waiting on this day every hour every min every second,Its been a challenge as well as lessons learned, moving forward feels so much better, but dealing with a new love who unexpectely finds themselves dealing with the past with a past relationship was essential to forgviness and moving on with life, reviewings some things and realizing its time to make positive pratical changes with finances, employment things that have been put on the shelf need to be completed,Im excited and so relieved
