February 9, 1964, the world changed forever, thanks to Ed Sullivan and 4 young men from Liverpool. All 73 million of us who watched them that night knew something major had happened…..
”It was 50 years ago today, Sgt. Pepper's Band began to play!
They've never been out of style, so come along and dance awhile
Now let me introduce to you, the one and only Fabulous Four
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!”
Our Saturday Night Attitude tune was being played non-stop on just about every pop radio station in America on February 9. It spent 7 solid weeks at number one, to be replaced by “She Loves You” for 2 weeks, which was followed by “Can't Buy Me Love” for 5 straight weeks. At one point, they had 7 in the Top Ten, including all 5 of the top spots, a record never matched since.
The Beatles said they threw everything into this song, from brilliant harmonies to hand claps to a very catchy rhythm. So for your enjoyment, the song that made America fall in love with the Beatles! Rather than just give you the studio version, I found a great live performance of the tune on the Morecambe and Wise television show on April 18, 1964, so for your enjoyment, time to twist! “I Want To Hold Your Hand”
I figured for the dance, we’d go back to that historic February! For your dancing and listening pleasure, 30 minutes of great video compiled from those 3 historic Ed Sullivan appearances! The Beatles Live on Ed Sullivan – Feb 9, 16, 23 1964
(February 9 set list - “All My Loving,” “Till There Was You,” “She Loves You,” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” February 16 set list - ”From Me To You,” “This Boy,” “All My Loving.” February 23 set list – “Twist and Shout,” “Please Please Me,” and of course, “I Want To Hold Your Hand”)
Here’s the audio-only live track from the Feb 9 Ed Sullivan appearance. It fell between “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” For your enjoyment, “I Saw Her Standing There”
Here’s 10 minutes of the Beatles live on the BBC in December 1963 performing “It’s The Beatles” Live At The Empire Theater (Set list: “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “Money,” “Twist and Shout,” and “From Me To You”)
Here’s 17+ minutes of great video! The Beatles Live At the BBC (“Twist and Shout,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” “I Wanna Be Your Man,” “Long Tall Sally,” and a medley of “Love Me Do,” “Please Please Me,” “From Me To You,” “She Loves You,” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” which they followed with “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and finally, “Shout”)
We’ll close the dance with a fantastic 13+ minutes live at the NME show in 1964! The Beatles Live at NME 1964 (“She Loves You,” “You Can’t Do That,” “Twist and Shout,” “Long Tall Sally,” and “Can’t Buy Me Love”)
For our first encore, from Dec 1963, live on the Morecambe and Wise television show, The Beatles Live! (This is a great show, featuring “That Boy,” “All My Loving,” “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” ending with a gag number!)
For the second encore, their first concert in the US! Here’s the first 15 minutes of The Beatles 1964 Washington DC Concert
And the final 10+ minutes! The Beatles 1964 Washington DC Concert
They really did blow the doors down. Completely and forever!

Hi Robert,
Thanks so much as always!
I'm curious what the astrology of this date looks like?
I'd love to see your analysis of it, since wisdom is sure to follow therein!

The whole Beatles magic can be seen and sensed by the impact of the Pluto/Uranus conjunction sextile Neptune taking place in those times. The entertainment industry for popular culture was changed forever and its long term cultural aspects for many decades if not longer after this mid 60s pop music phenomenon.
Personally, I really love the material they did as more of a studio band from about 1966 onwards, very cutting edge at the time. Easy to do with the $ they were pulling in! George Martin, the producer was a master on the old 4 track recording technology they had back in those days.
I remember reading a Rolling Stones magazine interview that was republished years later with John Lennon after the group broke up, he was the first person to enlighten me on the possibilities of self transformation!
