The coming Full Moon at 27 Aquarius-Leo is stabilizing, synthesizing, active, ideal, inspired, and will make it clear how to get beyond worldly conflicts using imagination, which will also help many reclaim an opportunity they thought was lost. This one helps us take a new look at the transfiguration process, and gives us insights into ideals we glimpsed in the Spring and Summer of 2009 that we made a part of our lives in 2010-2011.
I'm giving you these articles a day early, since Friday will feature my yearly Valentine's Day article. Today’s Full Moon post covers various rising signs around the globe and an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In part 2 we’ll cover Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.
This visionary, creative, and “back to the future” Full Moon moving us into a stable groove of rhythmic activity falls at the 27th degree of Leo and Aquarius. This Lunation, a balancing, stabilizing and grounding influence giving us glimpses of a Mystery we’ve been chasing and protected, self-transcending means of dealing with what’s to come in the third week of April, occurs February 14, 2014, at 3:53 pm PST, 6:53 pm EST, and 11:53 pm Greenwich (February 15 everywhere east of GMT).
So What's Happening Where?
Now we take a look at the rising signs around the world. The Lunation finds 6 Leo rising in Santa Monica, 10 Leo in Vancouver, 10 Virgo in Toronto, 15 Virgo in Montreal, and 11 Virgo in Washington DC, showing (from west to east) early Leo through mid-Virgo as the rising signs across North America.
Continuing east, we find 14 Libra rising in Rio, 6 Scorpio in Lisbon, 8 Scorpio in London, 17 Scorpio in Berlin (Feb 15), 30 Scorpio in Sofia, 4 Capricorn in Johannesburg, and 1 Sagittarius in Moscow. That means the span of Ascendants across the Atlantic to Central Europe and Africa is between mid-Libra and early Capricorn.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 19 Capricorn in Abbottabad, 27 Capricorn in New Delhi, 5 Aquarius in Trivandrum, 10 Pisces in Jakarta, 14 Pisces in Hong Kong, 21 Aries in Tokyo, 21 Pisces in Perth, 15 Aries in Melbourne, 24 Aries in Brisbane, 8 Taurus in Wellington, and 27 Gemini rising on Maui (Feb 14).
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 2 weeks.
In this Full Moon with the Sun at 27 Aquarius and the Moon at 27 Leo, Mercury is 29 Aquarius retrograde, Venus is 18 Capricorn, Mars is 27 Libra, Jupiter is 12 Cancer RX, Saturn is 24 Scorpio (SRX degree!), Uranus is 10 Aries, Neptune is 5 Pisces, Pluto is 13 Capricorn (Jupiter’s SD degree in Sept 2008!), TransPluto is 1 Virgo retrograde, Chiron is 13 Pisces, and the NN is 1 Scorpio.
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out the recent New Moon articles The New Moon in Aquarius Pt. 1 – What’s Happening in February 2014 and The January New Moon in Aquarius Pt. 2 - Signs, Sabian Symbols, and What It All Means.
Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. Places on our list where the Lunation is near the angles and activating energies powerfully are (Sun/Moon): Wellington (MC/IC), Vancouver, Santa Monica, and Toronto (Dsc/Asc), Lisbon, London, Berlin, and Sofia (IC/MC), and New Delhi, Trivandrum, Jakarta, and Hong Kong (Asc/Dsc).
An Overview
An overview of this period ruled by this Full Moon shows it will illuminate how we need to add something to our lives, some commitment, or something that refines our aesthetic sense and elevates our standards. We should all be able to find a natural balance or rhythm to things, and many will receive very favorable communications, preparing them to rise to some occasion at the end of the month.
This will put the focus on individual, mental, and spiritual energy in some form of organized management of individual and/or group energy, and more than a few will receive curious “returns” that will stabilize a process or a goal. This is the next to the last look at a mystery we’ve been chasing for 6 months.
This Lunation shows a mixed bag of aspects. Other than the usual heavy T-square formed by Jupiter square Uranus and Uranus square Pluto, the only other square is from Mercury to Saturn, re-visiting the recent Sun square Saturn. Keep it very easy and simply, see things from multiple points of view, and train your mind to open rather than close, and to be optimistic rather than pessimistic.
This is a great two weeks to train the mind and speech in a higher discipline. Also for being realistic and cultivating a spiritual rapport with others. See the broader context of your mission, be a good administrator of skills and resources, concentrate, monitor your expectancies, and use your imagination to engineer an opportunity.
Of note is the extremely annoying Cardinal T-square configuring in multiple semi-squares and sesquisquares with the oppositions between Aquarius and Leo. This makes for 5 points of a Great Octile, which is frictional and integrating. Some things will definitely be moved into major motion these next two weeks!
Because the Cardinal T-square formed by Jupiter opposition Pluto with both square Uranus will be active for the next 12 weeks, we continue to learn how to keep our equilibrium, equipoise, and sense of perspective. These fairly frictional energies in the collective atmosphere are now building toward the Great Fracturing of late April 2014. I will of course write more about that over the next few weeks.
Even though Saturn is temporarily separating from its biseptile to Neptune and septile to Pluto, the Grand Irrationality is still is full sway, since any time the Moon or any other planet moves through any of the 7 hot zones activating this configuration, it gets triggered! So it’s not front and center as a theme for this Full Moon, but it will continue to be activated every few days.
This continues a very intense period where Saturn is anchoring a third point in the Grand Irrationality, indicating destiny has been and continues to be on the move for the entire world related to Scorpio themes. A quick look at our world makes it easy to see these themes. I’ll give you the zones of the Grand Irrationality in the next section.
The Grand Irrationality, along with the other non-rational configurations that happen off and on, indicate that while we live in a time of very heavy decisions determining the future destiny of humanity, we also are at a turning point about how our light and life are or are not conforming to the challenges to individualize that Uranus has awakened since June 2012.
The focus of the light shows a way for us to be creative in getting to work at the dawning of a new day in our lives. We are challenged to release or demonstrate some element of our individuality or spiritual life that allows us to express our genuineness. This one can help us understand our ideals in both personal and impersonal ways, and jumpstart some energies firing up new initiatives that will be given power in April.
Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?
As I just noted, The Grand Irrationality is not being specifically activated by a planet in this Full Moon chart, even if it is still very heavy in the general atmosphere due to Saturn septile Pluto and biseptile Neptune. I wrote extensively about this long term configuration in Astrology in November-December 2013 - The Grand Irrationality Affecting Everyone and Astrology in late November and Early December 2013 – In the Heart of the Grand Irrationality. When you’re done here, please check out those articles to find the current seven “hot zone” spans and times when this larger configuration associated with non-rational behavior and conditions will be activated.
For February, this configuration is activated every day the Moon and Ascendant are in any of the 7 hot zones. The days the Moon focuses the energy through the end of the month are Feb 13, 17, 21-22, 25, and 28-29. We will get a VERY INTENSE dose of this configuration around Feb 20-26 as the Sun moves through the Pisces zone of the Grand Irrationality, illuminating and powering up the on-going Mercury retrograde lessons we’re learning as a result of it going stationary retrograde at 4 Pisces on Feb 6. This set the stage for many events to be triggered in late February through late April.
As I’ve noted previously, Neptune is very close to an exact septile with Pluto in this chart, and will be a factor in all celestial events at this time of the year. However, they have now begin to pull apart from the exact aspect, and by Spring will again be too wide an orb to be in septile, which is the main aspect anchoring the Grand Irrationality. Right now Neptune is 51 degrees and 59 minutes away from Pluto, but by the end of May they’ll be 54d 30m apart, which is a little too wide for the septile.
As I explained in a recent article, that just means that in the Autumn and Winter (in the Northern Hemisphere) they are now operating as a simultaneous “pulse,” since they’re both aspected near the same time. But in the Spring and Summer we’ll experience it as a rolling influence, with first Pluto aspected, and then Neptune at some time after that, depending on which planet is doing the aspect to these planets.
Important Factors
As I said, this Lunation brings us a mixed bag of aspects. On the harmonious side, we have Moon sextile Mars, Mercury trine Mars, Venus sextile Saturn, Sun trine Mars, and Mars tredecile Jupiter. Overall, this would indicate a fairly productive, harmonious, and stabilizing period with some highly unique interactive events when “serendipity” is on the move and those with planets or angles affected will receive unique gifts and circumstances perfect for their situation, or will find their unique way of sensing things in collective consciousness.
In the friction department, we find Moon opposed Mercury, sesquisquare Pluto, Mercury sesquisquare Jupiter, square Saturn, and semi-square both Uranus and Pluto. We also find Venus semi-square Neptune, and the previously noted Jupiter square Uranus and through Jupiter is barely opposed Pluto, Uranus is still square Pluto and Jupiter will go stationary direct in very close opposition to Pluto.
All these oppositions, squares, semi-squares, and sesquisquares indicate major irritation that will seem as though a pressure cooker is building steam and something is about to blow, but there’s no crisis as of yet, except for those caught in the affected zones. Those are about 9-14 Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, and 24-29 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. If you have something in those zones, then you can bet you’ll see some breakthrough action over the next two weeks.
Do your homework, get a larger or more effective “social sense,” find a way to focus your intensity and need for creative expression, and find ways to connect, especially if you feel cut off or separated in some way. Figure out ways to use resources others aren’t aware of, and cut loose from the known and familiar since this is a time to be a pioneer!
As usual with Mars in Libra, don’t let things spin out of proportion. The Cardinal T-square requires that we be very balanced in extreme situations or when with extreme people. This is a time to find a higher way beyond the oscillations of the mind and feelings. During the next two weeks we can begin to practice a unified vision and expression that will be perfected between now and mid-July.
We will experience a Mars response or lesson based on what we learned from Saturn, some discipline or duty or responsibility, in December 2011, April 2012, and/or August-September 2012. Something related to then could become an irritant, or require action, or recalibration. Be moderate in all responses, be balanced when it’s time to repair or reconstruct something, and follow through on using what Saturn taught you in 2012 to concentrate on what matters now. This one quickens us, but in a strangely frictional way.
We all began to learn how to overcome fear in the Spring of 2012, and then entered an unknown space time sector where we began to learn to view much of what goes on at core through a sense of life being a “science experiment,” with our task to understand the laws that underlie what’s going on. We’re now able to use that knowledge to do forms of “self-transcendence,” and establish our foundation on time honored wisdom. This will be a strange “back to the future” quickening that will easily stabilize as we finish learning how to overcome discouragement and move forward in strength and genuineness.
I’ll write more about these things in part 2. The next two weeks will bring new truths and opportunities related to a primary Mystery in our lives, where we get to work at the dawning of a new era in our lives. Opportunity will be all around, as will the need to not get aggravated or irritated by the way things are.
In all things ruled by Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus, making specific types of “leaps of faith” to overcome some duality will be key to seeing how to find the right balance of action and restraint. The next two weeks really can help us to a more unified view, a deeper sense of a Mystery or revelation to be found, a way of using inspiring teachings to transform our daily existence, and an ability to reinterpret some very emotion-arousing experiences in the past in light of their symbolism.
Even though they are still separating from the trines they made last July and December, Jupiter and Saturn both in Water signs continue to help us stabilize and understand the emotional intelligence we’ve been developing since June 2013. In recent months, we’ve glimpsed our “indestructibility,” and can now use that as a foundation to get ready to use our recent and current “peak experiences” to transform our lives beginning in a very few weeks once Saturn goes retrograde. So really, we’ve all established our personal form of “emotional intelligence,” and are preparing for a greater field of effective practice.
Related to this, since Jupiter is still retrograde in Cancer, we are reviewing and finding new ways to apply the emotional intelligence we built in June, July, and August. The coming 3 weeks will help us get new understanding about what we consider to be true about those new cares, new feelings, and a new sense of stability we’ve embraced since then. Once it goes direct in early March, it will begin to form its final trine to Saturn. This will stabilize whatever “feeling-knowing” we’ve been cultivating since last Summer.
Jupiter has been in Cancer for all Lunations since July. That shows we’re in a one year period where family and personal feelings will continue to run strong, so be clear about what you’re feeling that feeds you, or nurtures your growth in some personal way. We’ve all gone deeper into how we experience everything, and the past 4 months we’ve been given a new look at how we measure success, and figuring out how to “put on the show” and receive what we need from our audience.
Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?
This is the seventh Full Moon where the Sun falls in the same sign to the Sun at the previous New Moon. We’re now back to the “normal” pattern we last experienced between September 2010 and June 2012. We’re now done with the “reversed pattern” we dealt with between June 2012 and August 2013, where the Full Moon Sun was in a different sign than the previous New Moon.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepares the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So Sept 2010 through May 2012 we had the New Moon Sun in the same sign as the subsequent Full Moon Sun every month. This shifted in June 2012, when we had a New Moon at 1 Gemini in late May, a Full Moon at 15 Gemini-Sag in early June, and another New Moon at 29 Gemini in late June. That began the sequence of the New Moon Sun at the end of one sign, with the following Full Moon Sun in the next sign.
So June 2012 began the reversed experience from the “normal” New Moon-Full Moon cycle. We had an illuminated form shown to us at the Full Moon, followed by the Sun being in the same sign as the previous Full Moon. This is fulfillment followed by similar Solar seeds of potential while reversing the natural process.
That ended in August 2013, and we’re again in a sequence where the Full Moon Sun is the same sign as the previous New Moon Sun. To illustrate, the January 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Capricorn, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Aquarius. The February 10, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Aquarius, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Pisces.
Continuing through the Spring, the March 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Pisces, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 7 Aries. The April 10 New Moon Sun was at 21 Aries, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 6 Taurus. The May 9 New Moon Solar Eclipse was at 20 Taurus, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 5 Gemini. The June 8 New Moon was at 19 Gemini, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 3 Cancer.
This “reversed Sun sign” phenomenon has now ended. In August we had a New Moon Sun at 15 Leo on August 6-7, and then the Full Moon Sun at 29 Leo. In September we had a New Moon Sun at 14 Virgo, and then we had a Full Moon Sun at 27 Virgo. In October we had a New Moon Sun at 12 Libra, and then a Full Moon Sun at 26 Libra.
In November, we had a New Moon Solar Eclipse Sun at 12 Scorpio, and then a Full Moon Sun at 26 Scorpio. In December, we had a New Moon at 11 Sagittarius, and then a Full Moon at 26 Sagittarius. In January 2014, we had a New Moon at 11 Capricorn, and a Full Moon Sun at 26 Capricorn.
The most recent New Moon was in late January, and had the New Moon Sun at 11 Aquarius. This Full Moon Sun is at 27 Aquarius. So we continue the “natural” order of Lunation Suns, offering us seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half.
In part two, we will explore the Sabian Symbols, aspects, and other important chart factors.

'gives us insights into ideals we glimpsed in the Spring and Summer of 2009 that we made a part of our lives in 2010-2011' Oh yeah-yeah-yeah (couldn't resist that) for sure. I really like confirmation. Thanks.
