It’s International Astrology Day! It's also a day of celebration around the world for other reasons!
It is, of course, the Vernal Equinox. Thanks to Wikipedia, we also find it's the Iranian new year (Norouz), celebrated throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. It's also the beginning of the Bahá'í calendar, Ostara, and Chunfen in Asia. And of course it would be "Vernal Equinox Day," which we are told is a public holiday in Japan.
So we now pass out of the dream time of the Sun at 30 Pisces, and power up a new season which puts the focus directly on Saturn! This shall be a season of transfiguration, with action, originality, and dynamic activity front and center. Still, as you’re acting, remember that Mercury is in Pisces, to be followed by Venus, so the dream time continues, with mind and interactivity following up the Solar illumination we’ve already glimpsed. This will help us all navigate and substantiate those thought forms over the next 90 days.

I have a Saturn question. In a composite chart, when Saturn appears at the furthest point in a stellium of four or more planets, does its presence at the furthest end of the stellium have an effect on how that stellium manifests? I have been wondering if Saturn there contains the energy and focalizes it.

Hi Lee - Not sure what you mean "at the furthest point." If it is one of several in a sign, and distant from the next, then it must either lead the stellium or close the stellium. That determines how it functions relative to the rest of the planets in the stellium. In any case, it's more like each planet is its own "tone," each blending with the others, with one or another dominant depending on more than we can discuss here. To illustrate, depending on the spread, one may show a biseptile, another a tredecile, and another a trine to a fourth or fifth planet.

It closes the stellium in both cases. In one, it is at 1 degree Capricorn and the remaining planets are 7 to 25 degrees Sag. It's an impression it makes to me. Sort of standing there closing the stelliums, as if to say this energy is contained.

Hi Lee - Well, yes, in that the couple (it's a composite) through transits will experience aspects to all of the stellium simultaneously. In conjunctions to the stellium, they will first respond to those Sag energies via the planet at 7, then the next, then the next, and finally close that response sequence with a Saturn in Cap energy. That does not necessarily hold for other aspects to the stellium. For ex., a planet transiting through early Aries squares Saturn first before it makes a trine to the first planet in Sag, with biseptiles and tredeciles to the other planets in the stellium, maybe before the aspect to Saturn, maybe after. All these responses are triggered simultaneously.
Saturn closes the stellium, but with a different energy than the stellium. So either that couple finds dreams, truths, and possibilities that lead to a structured work to accomplish those things, or they dream big ideas that then get straightjacketed by Saturn's excessive control in Cap. In this case, EVERYTHING depends on how each deals with the composite positions via their own chart, and how each deals with the simultaneously differing challenges to the natal and the composite at the same time.

The two composites are me/my partner & my son/my partner. Both composites have the same North Node because me and my son have North Nodes conjunct!! My partner and I are slowly learning how to gently manage our life. My son and he haven't met yet. My son's natal has a cardinal grand cross on its axes (AC-DC, MC-IC at 1 degree of the cardinal signs). He's just a lightning bolt wrapped in something soft (Cancer sun, Libra rising, Aries moon!). My partner has Cap rising and a Libra stellium. (My son's biological father has not been a part of our lives ever. With Saturn involved, it's important to observe that fact. ) If our dreams become real then we will be an unstoppable new configuration of family for the 21st century, in many respects (older single Mom, younger male partner). I wish I understood how Uranus and Saturn interact intellectually, but I am pretty sure I know how they do experientially. I'll keep you updated!!

In light of this International Astrology Day, its now a time for me to re- orientate my fundamental interpretation of the sky and its effects in our lives. I'm talking about seriously using sidereal astrology instead of more traditional Tropical Placidus system for interpretation. I just feel that observing the actual physical constellations as defined by the International Astronomical Union back in 1930 is a new direction of study for me, this is also the system used by Indian astrologers with the Vedic system.
That 24 degree difference is fascinating to consider...
