This unifying, experiential, flowing, and transfiguring Full Moon at 27 Pisces-Virgo will help us let a lot of things flow downstream at the end of a long run and introduce us to a transfigured state once we’re willing to live the truths we’ve glimpsed before now. These two weeks we take the grace we’ve been generating since the last New Moon and learn to see the humor in what’s happening!
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. This particular Lunation has one other opposition, the very close and forming Jupiter opposed Pluto. Pay attention to the Jupiter opposition Pluto energies, since it’s part of a major ongoing lesson we’re all learning through April 2014.
We first experienced Jupiter opposition Pluto from July through September, with the exact opposition at 10 Cancer-Capricorn in early August. The 31 January 2014 opposition at 13 Cancer-Capricorn was the second in the set. The third and final opposition will be the most powerful, when we demonstrate how well we’ve learned the lessons of this extreme oppositional energy.
The third opposition will fall exactly at the point of what I have termed “The Great Fracturing” of April 14-24. This span will have several periods that will be extraordinarily difficult due to very tight Grand Cardinal Cross. That opposition will happen at 14 Cancer-Capricorn, when Jupiter is conjunct the Star Sirius, the “Sun of our Sun,” and source of all the Ageless Wisdom Traditions on our planet. You can find out more about Sirius by taking a new look at Mercury Stationary Direct Affecting July, August, September, and October 2013 – Finding Timeless Truths, Fearlessness, and Our Spiritual Source
I wrote a lot about Jupiter opposition Pluto last Summer in the various articles about the Cardinal T-squares and Grand Crosses, so if you want to know more, please visit the archives to get a sense of what this long wave opposition is all about. You can also understand more by revisiting the articles on the Merkaba events of that time.
I’ll write more about the Great Fracturing in the near future. Just remember the wisdom of our old friend the I Ching when it states that sometimes “one is enriched through unfortunate events.” Even though this will definitely impact everyone (being a transit to transit Grand Cardinal Cross), some will benefit greatly by what is cracked open then. When our old “shell of personality” is cracked open, it allows us to grow. When an old way of life is cracked open, we are free to live a different way.
Jupiter takes on an added importance in this Lunation, since besides being the “handle” or “focal determinator” of the Bucket Jones pattern, it is also the dispositor of the Sun which makes a biseptile to Jupiter. This shows a critical “fork in the road of destiny” relative to the Sun and Jupiter, which houses they’re transiting in our chart, and which houses they rule. I discuss more about this later in this article and in part 3.
Given Jupiter’s influence, we really can view what’s happening with a sense of humor, irony, or larger abundant take on things. With the Moon in Virgo, it’ll be great for refining our sense of humor and irony, especially with Mars in Libra retrograde and relatively unafflicted. That’s a very good thing, given Jupiter is still driving the Cardinal T-square through the opposition to Pluto and square to Uranus, continuing to challenge our sense of perspective, rhythm, and proportion in our responses to life.
Due to the presence of Pluto in the T-square, the energies are volatile, may be experienced as inharmonious, and both echoes and releases energy related to past cardinal T-squares over the past 3+ years. It will be most challenging to those born the first week of April, July, October, and January, as well as those with planets or angles between approximately 10-15 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
The good news is that this T-square can release a lot of pent-up energy, helping break log jams and stuck situations. It is especially good for those who are riding a wave of synthesis, having found a new experience of grace over the past six weeks influenced by the past two New Moons. As with last month, lessons around these opposition involve taking a new look at opportunities that may not be opportunities and keeping everything open and above board. This one is slightly different in that it challenges us to find a different perspective and let go of nonessentials.
Due to Mars and Saturn retrograde along with Mercury still in its “shadow zone” from its last retrograde jaunt, we are offered a new look and a new understanding on things in the recent past, along with new insights into how we’ve changed our daily living patterns since last Summer. Jupiter’s natural caution in Cancer serves us as we learn to navigate the Saturn in Scorpio flow with patience, discipline, and a long range plan.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Moon in Virgo is ruled by Mercury, while the Sun is ruled by Jupiter in worldly affairs and Neptune in spiritual matters. This makes the Air element loom large in how the Moon expresses itself, with a very intense double feeling backdrop to the Sun.
In this chart, in worldly affairs all of the planets are ruled by the chain of dispositors involving Venus in Aquarius, Saturn in Scorpio, and Mars in Libra, ruled by Venus. As usual, Neptune in Pisces is its own dispositor, though it does have some mutual influence with Jupiter. You can find more about dispositors by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The tide of Jupiter trine Saturn during the last half of 2013 offered us all a quickened current that is taking us somewhere. Overall this has been a time of quickened flow, emotional intelligence, and a new stability that will be with us for years. We have been experiencing our Soul promptings more acutely since last Summer, and found deep feelings and necessary structuring. As Jupiter is now direct and Saturn has just gone retrograde, we are about to move through the third time of Water trines that will stabilize whatever emotional intelligence we’ve developed these past 9 months.
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 27 Virgo-Pisces. It is said that the last third (decan) of any sign deals with the mental-spiritual levels of life, and being the last decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Taurus and Scorpio.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 27th degree of Pisces is "The harvest Moon.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols, Rudhyar ways this is a degree of “The power of creative visualization by which great Dreamers transcend outer reality” and “Complete dominance of circumstances.”
He goes on to say in The Astrological Mandala that this refers to “the light of fulfillment that blesses work well done.” He states this degree is one of “reaping the good harvest, if all has gone well,” and “the time has come to reap what we have not only sown, but also cultivated – or failed to cultivate.” He goes on to tell us that this is “the fullest of all full moons,” and the keyword is “consummation” where “the seed of the new cyclic manifestation is already latent” in this “karmic moment.”
So the illumination available via this Full Moon is through the light of fulfillment, where our dream that we have “creatively visualized” is harvested. This degree falls in the Span of Protection, and is the counterpoint degree in the Scene of Perpetuation on the individual-mental level of the Act of Capitalization.
Dr. Marc E Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “life’s moments of culmination as the threshold of new achievement,” emphasizing “the fact that nature in her immeasurable prodigality is forever showering (us) with the products of her untiring creativeness.” He states that Nature always communicates that our “productivity is as rich as Hers,” and that “the highly concentrated resources of the world are at the immediate service of anyone who will put them to use and so facilitate their replacement.”
He offers us the keyword BENEDICTION. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “self-consummation which is successful beyond any possibility of measure.
So this is a degree of learning to honor this “threshold moment” where we hit a culmination and can open the door to a greater reward for our creativity. Use your power of creative visualization to achieve dominion over your circumstances, and reap the harvest for what you’ve strived for up to now, as well as the Divine Grace you’ve allowed into your life.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 27th degree of Virgo is “Grande dames at tea.” In the original Jones class notes, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “Preservation of social and cultural values,” “Inward, unobtrusive superiority, or else pure smugness,” and “prestige of position.”
In the Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree symbolizes “the ability to carry on a revered tradition in order to perpetuate cultural standards of excellence.” We are told this symbolizes the Cosmic order in the worldly functions of a royal “court,” where we must “be able to act efficiently in the many rituals of a culture.” He says here “Dignity, elegance, and respect for formal rules are essential.”
He states that this symbol shows us that a certain level of formality in our interactions is necessary to preserve culture, and “there may be times when honoring formal procedures can be of great value” when we find ourselves in the midst of disorder or chaos. He says this degree falls in the Span of Experimentation, Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Education on the Individual-Mental level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “life’s maturity as a threshold of new discovery,” emphasizing “the fact that each individual may pass on what (they) have gained and thereby have an effective continuance of (self) through others.” He says “here are the highly concentrated values of selfhood as the reservoir of racial assets, since the traditions of one generation are always the ever-ready strength of the next.”
He gives us the keyword APLOMB. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “an efficient administration of inheritance or position and a full capitalization on the opportunities of common experience.”
From these symbols it seems we can use the Light of a culminating moment where we learn how to use creative visualization to exercise a form of control to take shape in a refined expression of some cultural excellence where we can capitalize on the possibilities in that moment. Here the Light of a greater compassion and feeling-awareness takes form in being educated or educating others in some formal structure of interactive experience.
As with the last several Full Moons, important transformations helping us see a deeper Mystery are evoked by this Lunation. This calls us to a greater empathy and ability to know shared feelings, and continues to educate us in an emotional understanding we’ve experienced since June. As usual, just keep moving with the flow, don’t try to push the river, and go deeper in your inner and outer feeling connections.
Learn to trust the process, and trust in your ability to navigate these currents as you embrace a new life. This feeling magnetism is showing us who are part of our Soul-group.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, Neptune, and the Polarization in the Collective Atmosphere
One important thing to note. In the Full Moon charts of 2009-2012, Neptune was in a very close opposition to TransPluto, the planet symbolizing Divine Mother Energy. That a factor in why things have been so polarized the past several years, teaching humanity compassion and the need for Viveka, or Divine Discrimination. This has offered all of us opportunities to join together in the Great Mother and realize our interrelatedness on a feeling level with All-That-Is.
The energies of Divine Mother will only grow stronger throughout this century, and these will be demonstrated each time the planets make significant aspects to TransPluto. In this chart TransPluto occupies the first degree of Virgo, showing us the long term future of humanity. Again, the Divine Redeemer is showing us ways to show Viveka through understand the place and function of individual differences.
A brief note on the larger Era. We approach the end of the TransPluto (Percephone, Parvati) in Leo era that we’ve known since September 20, 1935. Since October, 2011, we’ve been a transition period where this planet will dance at the last degree of Leo and first degree of Virgo through July 5, 2014.
So enjoy this penultimate period before the transition to a different transitional Era. After then we enter the TransPluto in Virgo era that will last through July, 2107, when it leaves Virgo for good and re-enters Libra for the last time, also after a few years of dancing on the cusp of Virgo and Libra.
As the Lunation articles have grown to impossible lengths, I’m again trying to find ways to trim them and reposition some of the material to make it easier to digest. So this closes part 2 on this Full Moon. Part 3 will cover important chart factors, New Moon themes, Jones Patterns and more, so I’ll see you soon!

Done! Thank you Robert.
Honestly I am going to miss Divine Mother once she is off my North Node sextile my Sun at 0Cancer, even with a lot of tough love and home truths to be accepted and healed, yet it will be for good as there is no better place for her as a mother to create something very good than a transit through the sign of the Virgin and the blessings for all that are possible, I let her go, with love and gratitude :)

Robert, I'm confused about the Sabian symbols. Would a person born on say 0'30" of Taurus be considered 30 degree Aries or 1 degree Taurus?
