Astrology in August 2014 – Mars Conjunct Saturn in Scorpio Pt. 2

Mars conjuncted Saturn at 12:30 pm PDT, 8:30 pm BST on August 25. These conjunctions occur every two years, and initiate a new set of responsibilities and activities wherever they fall in our chart.

The last one happened at 25 Libra in August 2012, and the one before that happened at 1 Libra July 2010. These activated the house where they happened, and set up major themes during each two years period in all of us. We now begin a new cycle of these important planetary energies.

The house where these conjunctions happen shows us where major activities and responsibilities get focused for the two years after the conjunction. Think back on the house affairs activated by the one at 1 Libra and reflect on how there were new initiatives and responsibilities in that area of your life between Summer 2010 and Summer 2012. Use the same principle to the house affairs activated by the one at 25 Libra, and see what’s fulfilled itself between Summer 2012 and now.

The Mars-Saturn cycle that began in 2010 was a period when we learned to express a new archetype of our Being. Many were “made sacred” through a symbolic “crucifixion” that was an initiation into a vaster spiritual reality and wisdom. Many experienced “sudden awakenings” and a desire to contact and demonstrate our inner Light.

The two year Mars-Saturn cycle that just ended began at 25 Libra, and promised us forms of wisdom after our intellect wearied of its games. We’ve done a lot of repair or reconstruction work on the social, emotional, or cultural level, and seen hidden meanings in what ended.

The past two years was a period of discovering deeper wisdom after the end of things, and we experienced growth through becoming aware of basic meanings. Our imagination and inner experience gave us efficient means to assist the welfare of those in our lives through understanding the interdependence of the world and the individual.

This Mars-Saturn cycle just began at 18 Scorpio, promising us all new initiatives and duties in the house where it occurs. This one will show us how we’re in a transfigured state after the last two years, and/or how we will be transfigured after the next two years.

In general, Mars conjunct Saturn fuses the influence related to houses and planets ruled by Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aquarius. This fusion is focused through the house where we have 18 Scorpio.

This is a major renewal and rebeginning for those born in the the first half of November, and brings together areas involving self-image, perceptions, communications, home and family, work, and health. It is a point of critical emergence for those born the first half of August, and brings together areas involving work, health, service, partnerships, truth, future, philosophical orientation, long journeys, higher education, home and family.

For those born the first half of May, this is a time when partnerships will be the focus, and it will bring together areas involving interactions, motives, closure on old life cycles, truths future, higher education, profession, and public image. For those born the first half of February, it is the fulfillment of many years of striving, and should bring professional promotions and high recognition. It brings together areas involving self-image, motive, closing old cycles, getting a new look at the movie of their lives, as well as neighbors, environment, and siblings.

Those born in the first half of January, first half of March, first half of July, and first half of September will find many harmonious, productive, and stabilizing activities over the next two years in the area this conjunction falls in the chart. There will be major adjustments and expansions through sacrifices for those born the first half of April and first half of June, and some unique gifts and circumstances for those born late August and late January.

Of course, if you’re not born during the times of the months I just mentioned, you also are highly affected, but in different ways than what I’ve just outlined. Entire generations with outer planets in certain parts of certain signs are also profoundly affected, but to go into all possibilities would be cumbersome here.

For a brief example of generations affected by this, people born around late 1949 through late 1951 have their Pluto squared by this conjunction. People born in the mid-60s have their Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto directly affected by this via the conjunction to their Neptune and sextile Uranus and Pluto. Those born in the mid-to-late 1980s have their Saturn and/or Pluto conjuncted by this Mars and Saturn dance (and these are just a few!)

So check out the house it falls in and the aspects it makes to all your planets, since even those without 18 Scorpio active can be profoundly affected. For example, in my chart the conjunction falls biquintile my Sun, square my Moon, quadranovile my Mercury, opposed my Venus, triseptile my Mars, tredecile my Jupiter, septile my Saturn, and square my Pluto. These indicate which parts of my life will be affected, and how.

It’s safe to say that everyone on Earth will be affected in important ways via the house in which it falls and the houses Mars and Saturn rule in your charts. And it seems that we’ll all wind up transfigured by seeing what we’ve done well, and what is now consummated in our lives.

Hi Robert .....So forexample when your talking about the first half of November, you essentially saying,the first half or so of Scorpio? So then it would effect a Scorpio ascendant in the first half as well, correct? Or for that matter any of those months you mentioned, folks with an ascendant in the first half of those signs would feel it as well?

Hi Caliban - Many fear-based manipulators are in fact imploding. Also our own fears, if we point them to the Sun, and ride them as far as we need to before bailing on them as the Sun's gravitation pulls those fears into oblivion. How's that for imagery?

Hi Christy - Not really. These are general descriptions that cannot possibly take everyone's personal situation into account. The first half of November the Sun is approximately 10-23 Scorpio, which is not "the first half of Scorpio." So it isn't about "the first half" of the signs. It's about those with a Sun or Asc approximately 10-23 degrees of those signs. Those with Ascendants in the first decan of the signs have already experienced the phenomenon of Saturn contacts to their Ascendants earlier, though this conjunction does of course fall in or near their 1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th. But you'd have to look at when Saturn shifted or will shift quadrants to be specific about what changed or will change, which is too much to address here.

yeah..thought about 0 of a sun sign usually falling between the 20th - 22nd after I posted that......so mine is 2nd decan scopio rising...in the 1st it is.

....and see this is why I always read your post 2 or 3 x because I always miss something the first time around ...like this:

Ya for me its really appropriate cause i moved out of the nut house i was in for 7 years. First year was rough then from 2008 to 2010 it was good. Made some great friends Then in 2012 real trouble till i left. Anyway found a nice little place to live. Saturn went over my ic and is in my 4th. It will take time to heal and clear myself of the stuff i went through there!

I think that imagery works. Mullin the sun. And the implosion was comin from the fear based manipulators. More of an external thingy. I have been listening to squawk radio in the wee hours ocassionally, that would be am radio. It's as if the contradictions are cancelling or imploding on themselves. It's all very strange but yet somehow re-assuring. As long as they keep their guns in their holsters. :D
