Mission control, we have a successful launch! Mars is said to be the "trigger" for all that happens in our world and lives. Wherever this conjunction falls every 2 years becomes a huge focus for our future!
Whenever Mars and Saturn conjunct, it begins a new cycle of Saturn’s lessons being expressed by Mars lasting a little over 2 years. It blends the areas ruled by Mars with those of Saturn, and shows us the pulses of changes associated with Saturn.
Thus our Aries and Scorpio sectors and planets are now merged with our Capricorn and Aquarius sectors in the Scorpio house in our chart. The house where this conjunction falls will be the one where we work through our Saturn issues, using Mars experiences.
Mars conjunct Saturn in Scorpio shows us the beginnings of a more focused and intense way to express our Saturn. The aspects indicate how certain energies will play out over the next two years. Because this conjunction fell about 5 hours after the New Moon at 3 Virgo, most of the major aspects in that chart are also in play here.
The primary aspects made by this conjunction include triggering a variation on the Grand Irrationality through the septile to Pluto, with specialized serendipity indicated by the conjunction tredecile Neptune. We also see Venus in Leo square the conjunction, and the Sun and Moon quintile the conjunction. I explained these effects in the New Moon articles.
So we have favorable and specializing aspects to/from the conjunction by Moon, Sun, and Neptune releasing through Venus, who will also no doubt put the brakes on some old Mars/Saturn manifestations. And we have the Grand Irrationality in motion via Pluto, showing it’s transformation time at the core levels of human existence.
We’re all going to experience 1 or 2 things: a) complete purification of all that prevents us from being transfigured, or b) a sense that we’ve done something right, and it’s finished so we can move into deeper feelings, stronger magnetism, and more focused power.
The Venus square to Mars and Saturn shows conflicts, gear grinds, corners turned, and the blocking of something by something else. The antidotes are about us demonstrating healthy Taurus and Aquarius energies. As noted, I went into depth about this in the New Moon articles, so please reference them.
What do you value? Can you reduce the conflict to simple terms, issues, and solutions? What do you need to do to enjoy your life? What is the big picture? How can you detach with friendliness while still persisting in your goals? Is this person your friend, or do they want what they want, regardless of who it hurts?
With Mars in the warrior-guardian sign of Scorpio, perhaps we will see more emphasis on Saturn's power to restructure things in a focused way. Or perhaps Saturn's qualities of fear, control, and rigidity will be confronted, and transform us, or show us how we’ve transformed our way of dealing with these. It all depends on how we act or react to these energies.
The 18th degree of Scorpio is "A woods rich in autumn coloring.” We are told by Marc Jones that this degree shows us how Nature serves our purpose, and “the varying manifestations of a reality supported and brought to its genuine fruitage by the eternal and illimitable resources on every hand,” and “an exaltation of every ideal potentiality.”
He goes on to say that “Life achieves its ultimate promise in a personal excellence, which may be compounded a thousandfold.”We are told the keyword for this degree is FULFILLMENT, and when positive, it offers us "high success in every area of true self-interest."
In the Jones class notes, Rudhyar says it is a degree of "the light which transfigures the Soul after passions have faded,” “revelation of inner wealth,” and “radiant consummation.” In the Astrological Mandala, it’s a degree of “the exalted feeling of a work well done and a truly consummated life.” He goes on to say we can find a sense of peace and fulfillment in this degree to the extent we are living “the transpersonal life” with faith and Spirit. This is a degree of culmination and transfiguration.
We are told this falls in the span of Appreciation and actional level in the scene of Faith. So either we find peace and fulfillment for what our faith has shown us and what we’ve accomplished, or this will happen in the next two years. Just keep your eyes on the prize, and don’t neglect what is truly worthwhile as you’re letting go of obsolete structures and ways of doing things.
So take care as you go deeper into a life of faith, magnetism, and power. Shore up your defenses against extreme and/or destructive energies. See the new roles coming to the surface of your life, and refuse to dance with all that would control or destroy your Divine Self emerging. This is a time for focusing the intensity, and not letting destructive energies derail what you’re accomplishing that is in line with your natural Self.
Find the right "containers" to protect your productivity pointing you toward a more fulfilling future. Be guarded, but not defensive. As there will be many invisible helpers cooperating with your efforts, use your imagination and do not hesitate when it's time to act on your own behalf. It’s all just a series of experiments in Truth. Much will be clearer by December.
The new is here. The Now is here. What faith are you willing to live?

If one has a natal Mars Saturn conjunction in Aries 10th house in their birth chart ( next to the north node and also Chiron in Pisces on a Pisces MC, might this be a significant time?

I needed this! You encouraged to reach out and realize that the corner I've felt backed into was just a play of shadows. I am shining light on what I've felt so alone with and I am transmuting my fear. I am standing up for myself and my right to be free and happy. Thank you.

Thanks again, Robert! This article is so encouraging for me with the natal Sun at 17.42 Scorpio. Underlining every word of it and going off now to study the Mars cycle for the next two years. blessings

This Mars-Saturn conjunction is in my 12th. I'm more than a little tired with this "what shall be revealed" house. I keep hoping it's something positive. Lots of endings, not many beginnings.

Hi Starbright, your tiredness with this what shall be revealed house, makes me laugh. Saturn just moved into my 1st. It feels like a new start and where did all that revealing disappear to. Time to get busy. From one challenge to another. :D

Hi JM - Yes! Any transit to transit aspect triggers the natal aspect between those two planets. It would seem this one will give you a 5th house nudge to your natal 10th house growth factors. You're here to be a pioneer on your own terms this lifetime. No equivocation for you!!
Hi Tasha - You're most welcome. There's been a lot of "shadow play" lately. In my own life, a nasty selfish weasel tried to slip something by and didn't like it that I kept shining the light of honest questions on things. And to paraphrase the great Jivanmukta Sri Yukteswar Giri, "face your fear and it will cease to trouble you." It's the equivalent in psychology to "naming the demon" so it loses power over us. Breaking the "no talk" rule is very difficult, but once it's done, then we can stand in the light of Truth. And that's a very good thang.....
Hi Jo - Welcome to the launch of a new life cycle! This one finishes whatever your Light was about since the early to mid-80s, and leaves you free to BE on your own terms living and offering your wisdom to your world on your own terms. Congrats on making it here, Warrior Woman!
Hi Starbright - 12th brings needed closures, and Saturn in the 12th shows us the wisdom we've become in "the movie of our life." You should be ending a lot, getting ready to claim the wisdom of your direct experience by embracing a new learning rigor as it moves into your 1st. "You're not a kid anymore...."
While Saturn in my first brought a LOT of work for years, it was also one of the best periods of my life to get in shape for what I'm doing now. And this is certainly exactly what I should be doing, rather than what I was doing then. Nothing wrong with what preceded Saturn in the first, but that kicked off the current chapter of my life where I clearly am doing exactly what I should be doing, "getting back to the garden."
Hi Caliban - As I said to Starbright about Saturn in the first.....
