Astrology in Early September 2014 – Venus Enters Virgo

Now that Mercury has entered Libra and Venus is entering Virgo at 10:07 am PDT Sept 5, they are in mutual reception and therefore powerful backdrops to what’s happening in the sky.

While Mercury was in its home sign of Virgo, it was a powerful solo influence. It recently entered Libra when Venus was in late Leo, and created a chain of dispositors involving Mercury, Venus, and the Sun. That has now changed, with the Sun dropping out and leaving Mercury and Venus in each other’s signs, creating a mutual reception. That’s a powerful self-reinforcing feedback loop.

Venus in Virgo will impact any planet or house where we have Taurus or Libra. Whereas these areas have been flooded with the creative fiery heart power of Leo, now we get to refine the expression of these strong energies using Divine Discernment, precision, organization, and a sense of practical service.

It is also said that Venus is in its “fall” in Virgo, that being the opposite sign from its exaltation in Pisces. If the exaltation sign shows us the “energy of greatest growth” for a planet, then the fall is the “energy of least growth.” This means that Venus grows the most in the sign of compassion and forgiveness (Pisces) but does not do so well in the sign of criticism, analysis, and attention to small details.

Venus is a relational planet. You can see how it would not do well in a sign known for nit-picking and criticism. No relationship does well under those conditions! That said, Venus is a planet that combines Air and Earth, and so should do well with the practical groundedness of Virgo, even though it may not like the attention to detail, worry, or fussiness that Virgo brings.

It also has entered an opposition to Neptune and begun its trine to Pluto, echoing what we went through when Mercury and the Sun made that same configuration. The productive Cancer void indicates we need to be as nurturing and caring as we can, even in the face of defensiveness and/or clannishness. Figure out what you care about and why, and do what you can to protect what’s valuable to your security. This should bring positive developments to those with planets in early Earth and Water signs.

Also remember that Mercury is headed for its T-square with Pluto and Uranus over the next week, which will require good Cancer skills in all of us. So the opposition sextile trine will build positive Cancer energy, which will be released via the Mercury T-square. This will bring the beginnings of new developments to those with planets in the middle degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.

And the beat goes on….

Mercury is transiting my ascendant right now, and I have natal mars rx and moon at 16 and 18 cancer. I had three very productive conversations today re the situation of my previous comment, and am feeling very happy about it all right now. It's still an on-going issue, but I feel I've gotten a good start.

I sat outside today for just a few minutes before making the phone calls and a bluejay caught my attention, right before a hummingbird hovered just a few feet away directly in front of me. I felt like I got an infusion of mercurial energy :-). It felt quite intentional.

p.s. mom is an aquarius sun (opposite neptune) with mercury rx in pisces square the nodes and pluto in cancer. Mars will be t-squaring the opposition next week. Interesting times ;-).

Robert, my b-day is the same as yours and I've never in my life experienced such hatred from people I thought were friends. The past year has been complete hell. I've never experienced anything like this before. I realize it's because I say what I feel (in the most loving way that I can but still be honest). Even if I apologize and take full responsibility if I'm wrong many can't and don't want to deal with open and honest communication. I've had to learn to stay completely quiet and never say a word which makes me completely the opposite of being authentic. I sometimes feel as if aliens have come down and changed the people I thought I knew into someone else...but then maybe they think that of me as well! Not sure if you, an Aries, have experienced any communication issues during this Grand Irrationality phase?

Hi ss - Then they couldn't have been friends. Sometimes we find others and we walk a ways, only to find we're better off putting a lot of distance between them and us. Aries do expect open and honest communications, but that doesn't mean other value that. When there's nothing to say, then why bother? People do change. I don't know why some choose to take the low road. I "experience communication issues" every day with someone. And remember the Grand Irrationality has been in effect for 20 years, with some times more intense than others. It's just recent configurations seem to have put some at a breaking point. At least we call all let go of fear, and detach from getting caught in some source of suffering.
