This practical, distributive, explosive Full Moon will show us the light of an explosive regeneration educating us in a form of action, and express as a form of compassion, forgiveness, and rebirth at the end of a cycle. For those who get to see it at sunset, it's going to be huge!!
The “Super Full Harvest Moon” Lunation occurs at 6:38 pm PDT, 9:38 pm EDT Sept 8, and 2:38 am BST on Sept 9. It falls at the 17th degree of Virgo and Pisces, showing the Light of practical Spiritual service expressed through the broader global shared experience symbolized by Pisces. This one indicates a lot of old complexes will explode, with potential rebirth being shown at the end of the end, as well as the need for compassion, empathy, and letting the old flow down the time stream.
This combination of energies will lead to productive stabilization, and show us why we went through some major adjustments and sacrifices between mid-June and the end of August thanks to the very difficult Saturn in Scorpio quincunx Uranus in Aries. The Sun fills in the Virgo point of the Yod, or Finger of God, set up at the time. Many old misunderstandings will be busted, with new pioneering initiatives opening for those who have gathered their strength before now.
Today’s Full Moon post covers various rising signs around the globe and an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In parts 2 and 3 we’ll cover Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.
So What's Happening Where?
Now we take a look at the rising signs around the world. The Lunation finds 6 Pisces rising in Santa Monica, 19 Aquarius in Vancouver, 11 Taurus in Toronto, 21 Taurus in Montreal, and 11 Taurus in Washington DC, showing (from west to east) mid-Aquarius through late Taurus as the rising signs across North America.
Continuing east, we find 24 Taurus rising in Rio, 21 Cancer in Lisbon (Sept 9), 6 Leo in London, 16 Leo in Berlin, 19 Leo in Sofia, 28 Cancer in Johannesburg, and 4 Virgo in Moscow. That means the span of Ascendants across Europe and Africa is between late Cancer and early Virgo.
Moving into Asia and Oceana, we find the Ascendants to be 27 Virgo in Abbottabad, 30 Virgo in New Delhi, 30 Virgo in Trivandrum, 3 Scorpio in Jakarta, 4 Scorpio in Hong Kong, 22 Scorpio in Tokyo, 23 Scorpio in Perth, 28 Sagittarius in Melbourne, 29 Sagittarius in Brisbane, 26 Capricorn in Wellington, and 26 Capricorn rising on Maui (Sept 8).
So you can construct a rough chart for where you are in the world, I’ll give you the rounded up degree for each planet. Use the Ascendants given above to get a rough sense of what’s on the eastern horizon where you are, and using an Equal House system, you can see what’s going on in your part of the world for the next 2 weeks.
In this Full Moon with the Sun at 17 Virgo and the Moon at 17 Pisces, Mercury is 10 Libra, Venus is 5 Virgo, Mars is 27 Scorpio, Jupiter is 12 Leo, Saturn is 19 Scorpio, Uranus is 16 Aries, Neptune is 6 Pisces retrograde, Pluto is 12 Capricorn retrograde, TransPluto is 1 Virgo, Chiron is 16 Pisces retrograde, and the NN is 20 Libra.
Those around the world who will definitely feel effects of this Full Moon are the places where it falls near the angles of the chart. Places on our list where the Lunation is near the angles and activating energies powerfully are (Sun/Moon): Tokyo, Melbourne, and Brisbane (MC/IC), Vancouver and Santa Monica (Dsc/Asc), Rio (IC/MC), and Moscow, Abbottabad, New Delhi, and Trivandrum (Asc/Dsc).
Because the New Moon preceding the Full Moon always represents the seed forms that are brought to surface at and after the Full Moon, please check out the recent New Moon articles The New Moon in Virgo Pt. 1 – What’s Happening in September 2014, and The New Moon in Virgo Pt. 2 - Signs, Sabian Symbols, and What It All Means. You will recall these weeks have been about finding humor while cruising through unique and occasionally confusing and radical transformations.
An Overview
An overview of this period ruled by this Full Moon shows it will illuminate our ability to let things come up and out, releasing a lot of pent-up pressures. We will find forms of rebirth at the end of old cycles, and the most effective tools of expression will be forgiveness and compassion as we bless the endings. This is a practical-refining Harvest Full Moon that is productive, ideal, tender, and stabilizing, with the Grand Irrationality still front and center via Saturn septile Pluto.
There is a Cardinal T-square that will help release powerful energies of Uranus and Pluto, throwing the void into Cancer, showing a lot of movement wherever we have Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. In general, the Full Moon will build through Pluto, and release through Pluto, so transformation is in the air. Again, a certain sensitivity and tenderness will be requires so as not to bruise. I’ll discuss more about that in parts 2 and 3.
This is another Lunation that will show turning points in everyone’s destiny to a greater or lesser degree in sectors where we have Saturn and Pluto transiting in our charts. Some of what was unclear in the past New Moon due to the Lunation opposition Neptune will become clearer now that Venus is occupying the opposition to Neptune while trine Pluto.
With the Moon in Pisces, find a way to participate in some life renewal. Rouse yourself to appear at your best, and have faith that you have learned what you needed to learn about “the science lab of life” in order to become more “whole” in your life. Manage the release of pressure, and this will jumpstart a major regeneration.
Saturn continues to show the way within to power and a self-reliant cooperation between the material and spiritual energies in our lives, and many have begun to see a long term way of fulfilling their individual destiny. Purification leads to “hearing a higher voice,” which will bring information needed to move forward into unknown zones in September and October.
Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?
As I noted earlier, the Grand Irrationality is triggered in a major way this month, due to Saturn septile Pluto. You can find more about this long term configuration at Astrology in November-December 2013 - The Grand Irrationality Affecting Everyone and Astrology in late November and Early December 2013 – In the Heart of the Grand Irrationality. At the present time, the current seven “hot zone” spans are approximately 5-9 Leo, 26-30 Virgo, 17-21 Scorpio, 9-13 Capricorn, 1-5 Pisces, 22-26 Aries, and 14-18 Gemini.
As I’ve noted previously, Neptune is too wide to be in septile to Pluto at this time, which is the main aspect anchoring the Grand Irrationality. Right now Neptune is 54 degrees and 51 minutes away from Pluto, which is a little too wide an orb to be in septile, even though they are closer than last month.
As I explained in a recent article, that just means that in the Autumn and Winter (in the Northern Hemisphere) they are close to exact, and operate as a simultaneous “pulse,” since they’re both aspected near the same time. But in the Spring and Summer we’ll experience it as a rolling influence, with first Pluto aspected, and then Neptune at some time after that, depending on which planet is doing the aspect to these planets.
So while the Grand Irrationality continues to be a general influence, it’s not as strong now as it will be in the Autumn and Winter. It was recently triggered by the Jupiter triseptile Pluto, and Mars moving through the Scorpio zone, so this period will be following up and following through on those decisions and changes.
We had a period of critical focus in late August and early September when Mercury was in the late Virgo zone and Mars was in the Scorpio zone, with the Moon triggering things as it transited the Virgo, Scorpio, and Capricorn zones. That’s been one factor in the wild and important events playing out on the world stage as well as in the lives of all of us with planets in any of the 7 hot zones.
Important Factors
This Lunation brings us a mixed bag of aspects which I’ll discuss in parts 2 and 3. There are relatively few frictional aspects, with Mercury being the point of friction in the T-square and semisquare Mars. Besides these, we have the Moon biquintile Jupiter, Mercury sextile Jupiter and biquintile Neptune, Venus quintile Saturn and trine Pluto, the Sun sextile Saturn, Jupiter trine Uranus, and Saturn biquintile Uranus.
The biquintiles will bring unique interactive gifts and circumstances, and those who took care of business before now should find things moving favorably forward. And Jupiter trine Uranus for many months to come should bring an air of inspiration and newness to our experience as time moves forward, especially given the Grand Fire Trines happening from late September through mid-December.
We’ve now left the Mars in Libra era and are moving through the Mars in Scorpio period. We’ve all gotten recalibrated since January, and had many opportunities to show balance, justice, moderation, and peace making skills. We’ve all learned about what’s fair and what isn’t, and had to move through some extreme conditions as we’ve applied the emotional intelligence we learned between June 2013 and early July 2014.
From February through mid-July we finished paying karmic dues, repaired what could be repaired, learned to keep a sense of balance and proportion when things could not be repaired, and finished various type of “reconstruction.” Because Mars transited the section of Libra where Saturn was in 2011-2012, we found ways of using Mars to apply those lessons and “rules” we learned from Saturn, whether through a discipline or duty or responsibility, that we were dealing with in late 2011 through August 2012.
We all began to learn how to overcome fear in the Spring of 2012, and then entered an unknown space time sector where we’ve been learning to see much of life as being a “science experiment,” with a need to understand the laws that underlie what’s going on. We’re now able to use that knowledge to get a new perspective on what has affected us in the past, and can let go of nonessentials as we claim the enduring patterns and symbols of “the movie of our life.”
I’ll write more about these things in parts 2 and 3. The next two weeks will bring lessons in “letting go, letting God,” and many will stop searching and mobilize their Higher Self in new directions. One thing to pay attention to is the spontaneity you’ll experience once you’ve cleared out your mind and energy field through the “volcano” erupting as per the solar degree.
Get beyond old ego structures and limitations, and you could find new spontaneity and power coming up like a new continent rising up out of the sea. Much that we’ll feel over the next two weeks will help us beginning next Spring.
We’re now solidly in the Jupiter in Leo era! This is the beginning of a new adventure in self-expression, so face forward and move on up and out! We’re now very much done with the Jupiter in Cancer year, where family and personal feelings have run strong. We’ve all had opportunities to get clear about what we feel nurtures our growth in some personal way.
We’ve all gone deeper into how we experience everything, and the past 9 months we’ve been given a new look at how we measure success, and figuring out how to “put on the show” and receive what we need from our audience. We’ve now graduated from the “School of Emotional Intelligence,” found new allegiances, and integrated our personalities to some degree. It's time to be very clear about things, and show our stuff in creative, playful, and spontaneous ways!
Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?
This is the fourteenth Full Moon where the Sun falls in the same sign to the Sun at the previous New Moon. We’re now back to the “normal” pattern we last experienced between September 2010 and June 2012. We’re now done with the “reversed pattern” we dealt with between June 2012 and August 2013, where the Full Moon Sun was in a different sign than the previous New Moon.
As I've explained in previous Full Moon articles,
... the Full Moon being in a subsequent sign than the previous New Moon indicates that what is released as realizations in the Full Moon period actually "prepares the ground" for the coming New Moon seed. Strange reversal of function, since you would think the New Moon provides the seed for the next Full Moon. But this set of Lunations works the opposite way....Another way to look at this is the Sun sign of the Full Moon is the same as and precedes the Sun sign of the next New Moon, reversing the usual way Lunations work. So the fulfillment of the Full Moon sets up the next "seed" to be revealed at the next New Moon....
So Sept 2010 through May 2012 we had the New Moon Sun in the same sign as the subsequent Full Moon Sun every month. This shifted in June 2012, when we had a New Moon at 1 Gemini in late May, a Full Moon at 15 Gemini-Sag in early June, and another New Moon at 29 Gemini in late June. That began the sequence of the New Moon Sun at the end of one sign, with the following Full Moon Sun in the next sign.
So June 2012 began the reversed experience from the “normal” New Moon-Full Moon cycle. We had an illuminated form shown to us at the Full Moon, followed by the Sun being in the same sign as the previous Full Moon. This is fulfillment followed by similar Solar seeds of potential while reversing the natural process.
That ended in August 2013, and we’re again in a sequence where the Full Moon Sun is the same sign as the previous New Moon Sun. To illustrate, the January 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Capricorn, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Aquarius. The February 10, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Aquarius, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 8 Pisces.
Continuing through the Spring, the March 11, 2013 New Moon Sun was at 22 Pisces, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 7 Aries. The April 10 New Moon Sun was at 21 Aries, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 6 Taurus. The May 9 New Moon Solar Eclipse was at 20 Taurus, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 5 Gemini. The June 8 New Moon was at 19 Gemini, while the next Full Moon Sun was at 3 Cancer.
This “reversed Sun sign” phenomenon ended then. In August 2013 we had a New Moon Sun at 15 Leo on August 6-7, and then the Full Moon Sun at 29 Leo. In September we had a New Moon Sun at 14 Virgo, and then we had a Full Moon Sun at 27 Virgo. In October we had a New Moon Sun at 12 Libra, and then a Full Moon Sun at 26 Libra.
In November, we had a New Moon Solar Eclipse Sun at 12 Scorpio, and then a Full Moon Sun at 26 Scorpio. In December, we had a New Moon at 11 Sagittarius, and then a Full Moon at 26 Sagittarius. In January 2014, we had a New Moon at 11 Capricorn, and a Full Moon Sun at 26 Capricorn.
The New Moon of late January had the Sun at 11 Aquarius, while the Full Moon Sun was at 27 Aquarius. The New Moon in late February/early March had the Sun at 11 Pisces, and Full Moon Sun is at 27 Pisces. The New Moon in late March had the Sun at 10 Aries, and the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse had the Sun at 26 Aries.
The recent New Moon Solar Eclipse in late April had the Sun at 9 Taurus, while the Sun at the Wesak Full Moon was 24 Taurus. The next New Moon Sun was 8 Gemini, and the Full Moon Sun is at 23 Gemini. The New Moon Sun at 6 Cancer was followed by the Full Moon Sun is at 21 Cancer.
The New Moon of late July was at 4 Leo, and the Full Moon Sun was at 19 Leo. The New Moon on two weeks ago was at 3 Virgo, and this Full Moon Sun is at 17 Virgo. So this continues the pattern of the “natural” order of Lunation Suns, offering us seeds shown in the first half, fulfillment in the second half.
The next two weeks require letting old repressed material in the subconscious mind come up and out, and seeing how to become more “whole.” Keep finding the humor in situations, even as you show tenderness as things explode all around you. Last month we got clear about ego problems, and were forced to let go of old social rigidities. We were tested to prove our strength, resilience, and indomitability, and saw many ego props crash. Now we get to move forward.
The lesson of the Summer was seeing how to withdraw with dignity from people and circumstances that have been wasting our time. This gives us the light about why we’re doing that.
In parts two and three, we will explore the Sabian Symbols, aspects, and other important chart factors.

Spot on Robert, as per usual. Very interesting and many things "ring a bell" and make sense helping to understand and close "circles". Time to move forward into the new and the higher.
Blessings be to all.

And on another full moon note just because it's so lovely...
A good night for listening to Neil Young's Harvest Moon.
Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night
Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye
Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

Ditto Rebecca. My reading with Robert has truly changed my life. I wish I'd had it done years ago. I'm done with religious guilt over my Leo ascendant and done and double done with Pisces moon agony. Thank you Robert on this Pisces full moon night.
