in your two simple sentences you have stated my feelings exactly, Robert. Perhaps he realized that the realities of the Presidency would have forced him to compromise his principles and values more than he would have been willing to so; he had the inner sense to consider that.

Me too. And you are right magenta, years ago when asked about running for president he said, not with the way America is now. Out of time. But a precious gem to those of us who were fortunate enough to discover him.
