Mars entered Gemini at 7:40 pm PDT, 10:40 pm EDT on May 11, 3:40 am BST on May 12. What does this mean, given Mercury is about to go retrograde in Gemini?
First, let's talk about Mars. One major correspondence is that as Mars leaves Taurus, we will no longer be getting a Taurus experience of the houses ruled by Aries and Scorpio, and will begin new discoveries and ideas (Gemini) in those life areas. Same with any planets we have in Aries or Scorpio, which will feel less “Earthy” and more “Airy.”
For example, Aries rules my 9th house and co-rules my 10th house, and Scorpio co-rules my 4th. So the past several weeks I’ve had more of a Taurus quality in these areas, and now there will be more of a Gemini quality.
That could mean that I will seem less “slow, steady, and pleasant” (Taurus) in how I express truth (9th house) and how I do my professional work (10th house), and will be more of a multitasker, and maybe more adaptable (Gemini) in these life areas. This time could feature more “short journeys” (Gemini) connected with profession, or discoveries (Gemini) of potential truths and futures (9th house).
It could also mean that my home life and early life memories (4th house) will be less stuck in some kind of rut (Taurus) and there will be more discoveries, thinking, and talking (Gemini)about those experiences. Because Mars corules my 4th, I’ll be more grounded in my ideas and thought-experiments (Gemini).
Mars activates and/or aggravates the life areas it transits, and helps us take the initiative in moving in new directions. Look to the house where you have Gemini to see when you might experience one or more of these qualities through June 24, when it enters Cancer.
Since Mars in Gemini will activate other sensitive points in that sign, then the Venus in Gemini experiences we’ve had since April 11 will be activated. Since Mercury is already in Gemini, this will activate the ideas, signs, and signals the Mercury noticed that were related to our Venus in Gemini experiences.
So Mars in Gemini will activate our Venus and Mercury in Gemini experiences into forms of direct action. When the Sun enters Gemini in 9 days, much will be powered up, illuminated, and integrated into our Light/Life for this year.
As I told you when Venus entered Cancer, it’s extremely important that we will be getting a review and reinterpretation of some of our Venus in Gemini experiences as Mercury retrogrades back across the Gemini span Venus transited between April 14-21. Pay attention to Mercury’s “inferior conjunction” with Mars on May 27 at 11 Gemini, since that can bring renewals to old ideas and plans related to new vistas of activity and development that were introduced between Summer 2012 and Spring 2013.
We can also anticipate that when Mars enters Mercury’s “shadow zone” at 5 Gemini, it will blend its expression with what Mercury in Gemini has already begun to teach us. That makes Gemini one of the most powerful influences in 2015, since Venus led the way and Mercury will go back and forth between 5 and 14 Gemini during its retrograde, to be activated by both Mars and the Sun.
The Sun and Mars will be dancing together for many weeks to come as they approach their conjunction at 24 Gemini on June 14. So we’re going to have a lot of Gemini points triggered by both the Sun and Mars over the next few weeks, culminating in their conjunction just after Mercury goes stationary direct and Neptune goes stationary retrograde, and a few hours before Saturn retrogrades back into Scorpio.
On a final note for today, Mars in Gemini is in its own 3rd house relative to its rulership of Aries, and in its own 8th house relative to its rulership of Scorpio. Mars in Gemini is expressive and regenerative, preparatory and purifying of itself. It takes in new information about how it moves within its immediate environment, and then experiments with what must be eliminated in order to focus its action.
So feel the energy of a major shift as Mars leaves Taurus, the sign of its exile, and enters Gemini, the sign of infinite options. Much that has seemed stuck will begin to open in different ways, but remember that since Mercury is slowing down, about to go retrograde, some of what unfolds will be two steps forward, one to the side, one back, two to the side, three forward, and one to the side. Then do it again!
Mercury Retrograde
Because Mercury is slowing down about to go retrograde, we’ve already begun to experience a quality of “Mercury crashing into retrograde,” preparing to go retrograde on May 18-19 at 14 Gemini. If you want to know what we can expect from Mercury retrograde in Gemini, as well as all the other signs and houses, if you haven't already gotten your copy, you may want to buy a copy of the new second edition of my book A New Look At Mercury Retrograde.
The great news is that it is again available as a paperback! Yes, we managed to get it published in time for this retrograde. The paperback is available through Createspace.com, so if you want the newest edition go there and order your copy. Of course, it’s also available as an ebook through Amazon Kindle or Barnes and Noble Nook. I've included links to both sites.
As I’ve mentioned before, it is written for both astrologers and laypeople. I have just about everything you could want to know about Mercury retrograde, including how it works, what it means, celebrities who have it in their charts, historic events that happened during Mercury retrograde, and what signs are involved in future Mercury retrograde periods.
By knowing more about 2014's Mercury retrograde periods in Pisces/Aquarius, Cancer/Gemini, and Scorpio/Libra, as well as 2015’s Mercury retrograde periods in Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra, you may see patterns in what was going on in your life, what you were taking a new look at and why, and how this "looking back" influenced your choices as you moved through past events.
Here's the link to where you can order your copy of the new edition of my ebook, A New Look at Mercury Retrograde to check out possible ways this Mercury retrograde effect could play out over the next 4 months. And here’s the Createspace link to the page where you can purchase a paperback edition of A New Look at Mercury Retrograde.
